    Nice job. I have the same exact truck with 188,000 miles. Just did spark plugs and coil packs this weekend. But I did not disassemble anything to do the plugs and coil packs Little bit tough working around the fuel rail on the driver side but went smooth either way.

    Stock gap is .54, you must have been really tired that weekend. Great overall project with the turbo and everything. I'm just reburbishing my 03' for towing my boat and daily driving. My joke with one of my mechanic coworkers is that I'm putting F-250 suspension parts in my F150, haha. The most "F250" I've done is put a set of Bilstein 4600 shocks, replaced my leaf springs and put in a set of heavy duty front end ball joints, tie rods, etc. Definitely smoothed out the ride.....definitely driving like a heavy duty F150 now.

    Great video man... I've been a carburetor guy most of my life but I'm moving up in the world to FI. like that you gave enough detail about the fuel rail and properly releasing the pressure along with a quick inspection and reminder of O-rings on your fuel injectors and such... I've had a few oh shit moments when I inspect the injector and it's missing the top over in that got stuck in the fuel rail good reminder so you don't end up needlessly replacing the injector and then trying to Ram what effectively is to o rings into the top of the fuel rail...
    How about a video on a high amp aftermarket alternator for that truck and some more on the FI fuel-injected systems how they are laid out on this engine....

    Good thing it's a 2003 and wasn't produced in 2000 like the lightning I had. That year the trucks had a problem with the plugs blowing in or getting sucked into the block. It happened to four of my plugs. At $400.00 each to get them rethreaded and replaced, that sucked. Luckily they all blew out and not in. If any got sucked in, the engine would have needed to be replaced.

    did the plugs thread all the way down using all the thread turns or will it bottom out on the head prior to using all the thread turns. when I replaced two of my plugs after taking them out I counted the thread turns on the plug itself and then put them in only turning a third of the thread turns. Is this correct. Like I dont know if I have them in correctly. touque wrench to 30 ft lbs.

    Hi Ryan! I plan on doing my spark plugs and new msd blaster coils today and am worried about breaking a spark plug in the head due to carbon/rust build up. I will soak in penetrating oil first but did you back them a touch for oil to get down in the treads or did you just soak em untouched? Also did you have any resistance removing the plugs? I heard its good to torque them to 20ish ft lbs so the dont blow out. Any other tips would be appreciated!!! Thx again!

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  5 лет назад +1

      Those older cars and trucks were definitely easier to work on for sure! My first car was an 84 K5 blazer and I could basically sit in the engine compartment to work on the engine there was so much extra room!

    • @amb158
      @amb158 5 лет назад

      Auto Detour yeah man😭 I hate this bullshit. If I had an extra cubic foot of space I’d be happy. I drive (for all intents and purposes) the same truck as in the picture, and there is NO empty space. Working on it is the biggest pain in the ass ever. Seriously never worked on a car that was more difficult to work on.

    • @amb158
      @amb158 5 лет назад
