Great video! I’ve been using YT music since 2015, I have a love/hate relationship with it. I use it primarily because it has remixes/covers/songs that aren’t on normal streaming apps, because it just pulls its music from RUclips. They have made a decent amount of improvements from when I started using the app, but I feel like the app is still pretty buggy and it’s a shame. I feel like Google/YT neglects it and it’s missing some features that most other streaming apps have. I recently wanted to convert my likes (1,500 songs) to a playlist, because you can’t make your liked music public anymore and I wanted to share my playlist, but moving the songs from my liked music to a playlist is such a pain! I can’t use that “save” button because it will only select the last 256 songs and not all of them, and the only workaround was that I had to go on YT Music on the computer and manually select all 1500 songs! Took me 30 minutes 😅

WOW thank you for this comment, I didn’t know about the “liked music” playlist and it’s such a shame!
Tbh I was so excited to use RUclips Music, and thought it would end up being my “go to”, but it’s such a bad app, I don’t see myself using it again…

You caught my attention with that title because I use YT Music religiously haha. I love it so much. I wont pay for Spotify because it's expensive and I can pay a cheaper price (with student discount, same price w/o) AND get YT premium.

What do you think of their UX tho?? All these bugs are crazy I could never 😭

Idk, all i do on streaming services is like the songs I like and dislike the songs I dislike. The extra things feel like bloat imo
    Good vid tho

Do you create your own playlists? Or let the app auto play till you choose a different song?

  • @Jakepf
    @Jakepf 10 месяцев назад +1

8:56 it's disabled because its not unlisted. Unlisted is essentially private with link access for others. Private is like private private.

It would be nice to get a feedback, they could’ve done it MUCH easier and friendly

7:47 Yes, because its all the songs youve listened to/added from autoplay or added into the queue that you can save.

One time it said “save 1 song”, the other it said “save 26 songs”
And I couldn’t understand why… did you notice that?

This video felt more like a "why isn't YT Music a 1:1 copy of a Spotify" rather than a UX review, because I use it everyday and I don't see any issues with how it works. Everything seems logical to me.

Don’t you have all these bugs?
I genuinely think all the UX flaws I mentioned would drive me insane if I have to use it on a daily basis 😅
But I’m glad you like using it. I always say that I’m only one user out of millions.

@@ItsUXgirl I haven't experienced any bugs for a long time. When the service was introduced it had many, but that was ages ago. I used it on multiple platforms for years and it works flawlessly.
What you considered bugs (not counting the radio part where there was too much negative space between the artists) are mostly just different use cases.
First, there is a difference between autoplay and queue. When you start a song and then the algorithm does its job based on it, everything is part of autoplay. When the track ends, that gets in your queue. This has two purposes: you can go back to it and play it again, but also you have a temporary history so you could save what you heard. For example sometimes I forget to like songs while they play and it's useful that I can return and do it later.
This made you confused in the Spotify video too, basically that worked with the same principle.
Then, you haven't noticed the difference in the video between saving songs from a queue vs a whole playlist. That's why at first you could only save one song because the queue had a single track, while when you got the option to save 26, you played music inside a playlist.
Same when you were confused about skipping. One behaviour was inside queue based on a single track, the other was a playlist, where it wasn't needed to move any song up to a queue.
Also, the Collab feature was inactive because as long as you work on a private playlist, that's considered personal, whereas unlisted and public are meant to be the ones that you could share. So if you set a playlist to private, that's supposed to be your secret collection.
2nd song: since you saved the rest on RUclips, you only saved two *up to that point* on YT Music.
Library doesn't change to Downloads on the bottom toolbar: That's supposed to be that way. Why should it change just because you are on the Downloads page? That's still part of your library after all.
About two things I have no explanation:
      - The artist info indeed doesn't belong to the related section, but since YT Music evolves way faster than other services, this could change based on the feedback they get from people.
      - The other is why did you get both a next button and a streaming button. I cannot recreate this, so my only explanation is that one happened before, the other after updating the app. It could also be a server-side change, since not everything is rolled out via App Store/Play Store.

3:01 The save only saves what you've listened to. I like the way this functions. IMHO

I didn’t listen to any of the songs when it offered me to “save 26” songs
So confused by this feature 😅😅
