@@HL09Pro tip: Any video on youtube can be saved and played on youtube music. You can have a 40 minute David Goggins video in the middle of your Taylor Swift playlist if you want.
but its insanely bad for searching new music, because i need to listen new music and it recommend my liked songs or alot of popular song that i dont like.
@@HL09if it's on RUclips it's on RUclips music. It may have just been put as a different name by the artist or whoever uploaded it, but that's on legalities
I've been using Spotify premium for about 5 years and I'm trying RUclips music. I have to say there are certain songs that I cannot find on Spotify that I can find on RUclips music. And I must tell you this video really helped me with the RUclips music app Because I've only had it for a few weeks so thank you!
That's what makes RUclips music such a killer because there are songs that you cannot find anywhere else except for RUclips. Not to mention the fact that you can find the original version unreleased aversions the live versions, the remixes slow and reverbs sped up, etc. You can find so many different versions of a song. It's ridiculous
if you want to find new songs soundcloud is really really good at finding songs you might like, but the playlist sistem there is pretty bad. So use if for finding cool new songs and lissen them on youtube or so
I'm using both services. Yt music to discover new music and Spotify as my main service. Some disadvantages of Yt music in opinion: - No volume normalization - My biggest frustration is that you can't search within a Playlist 😒 But I love that I can just double tap to skip 10 or more seconds on Yt music on android.
Yes no volume normalization is really really annoying. I don’t understand why they haven’t done it yet. I’ll probably switch to a paying service just because of that.
I do the exact opposite lol. I like spotify's algorithm much more since (in my experience) ytm doesn't care about what genre you're in. you can turn on a rock song and the next will be a classical song, the next will be pop etc. Spotify has always been good at finding the right songs in the genre I'm listening to in the moment
The strongest feature YT music has is that if a song is removed due to licencing issues they kind of get around it by sourcing from youtube. Kinda sketchy but I had a song that was removed from all platforms get hit so it's been nice
I've never subscribed to spotify before but when RUclips announced they'd be releasing a music app, I jumped in the wagon. What I really love about youtube music is the "slowed songs" or great remixes that I suppose you cannot find on Spotify. And also Im on a student plan. It costs only 2dollars a month. The app has gradually increased to become better in these few years im using it, and im not looking forward to change to other music listening platform soon. Edit: btw, since i paid for the $2 for both youtube and youtube music, now I get to watch youtube videos without ads and in the background/when phone is turned off. This is very important to me because I love watching youtube videos whether it be pop culture, studying videos as well as economy and history documentaries. I dont really use tiktok/insta much for entertainment purposes both because of I have no interest to and also I want to maximise my 2dollars.
Great summary. I had the Spotify/Hulu bundle from college but when I got RUclips premium I was struggling to decide if I wanted to keep both. Spotify ended up raising the price so that made the decision a bit easier. I've always found RUclips Music to have better recommendations for me anyway, so it works out. One other big factor to consider is whether people use Amazon Alexa or not, as Spotify is supported but RUclips Music is not. I switched my home automation over to Google, but if I hadn't, I probably would have stuck with Spotify out of necessity.
I was a long-time Spotify User when I got so annoyed by RUclips ads that I decided to subscribe to YT Premium. I hadn't even know that YT Music would be part of my subscription back then, and I was genuinely surprised by how good YM Music was. Now, I'm using both in tandem and just love it since their libraries and functions perfectly complement each other IMHO.
This is great Josh. I subscribed for 3 months to to Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and RUclips music to try all of them together. All of them are good, but RUclips has the best recommendations, and I kept Apple Music as well for a lossless audio experience with Atmos. A note on Apple Music, it sounds best when played through the Sonos app to your Sonos set up, as opposed to Air-playing it to your Sonos system. Seems to be some sort of deep integration with the Sonos app.
Yeah, it’s because Atmos can’t be streamed over Bluetooth or AirPlay, which is low key annoying, but I’ve been fine using the Sonos app to pull down the Atmos tracks from Apple Music. Im hoping Apple/Sonos work on Atmos over AirPlay. - Josh
@@6MonthsLater Honestly i have tried apple music i would say i love the atmos experience , with spotify i love its algorithm ( although where i live there is no dj feature unfortunately ) and youtube because family plan is a lot cheaper and also ad free youtube
RUclips is way better than Spotify for recommendations, but Soundcloud has the best algorithm to find new songs by far. Soundcloud has a feature to find really nice songs, its two playlists. One is updated every day and the other one once a week, They each recommend 30+ Newly released (sometime solder songs), and till now 90% of these songs always did fit my taste! A lot of these songs/ Tracks are only week of few days old from smaller artists, with songs that even have like 500 plays. But they still fit my taste, as the algorithm just knows what I like! But sadly the biggest downturn for SoundCloud is that you can't really sort songs in your self-made playlists... But i would still recommend it for finding new songs! and then taking them to other platform like RUclips/Spotify.
That! I'll switch to RUclips Music as soon as they change the fact that you'll be subscribed to artists on both RUclips platform for just following their music. Often, I don't like an artist's videos, but I love their music...
IDK if it's just me, but my main problem that I have with RUclips Music is seamless streaming. For example, when I listen to Beyonce's Renaissance, the transition between Cozy and Alien Superstar just keeps failing if I download the music. When I stream it, it's fine. Noticed this in some albums too where there's supposed to be a seamless transition between songs and the transition just doesn't work if the songs are downloaded. That's my main (and possible only) problem with the app.
I switched from Spotify to YT Music. I have never been so hyped that I can now play the unreleased songs of my favorite artists right from my YT Music Playlist vs. me downloading the media to be able to play it on Spotify. However, I just wished that YT could have had more ways to sort your songs in the playlist, arrange the order manually, have a bookmark thingy to which song you stopped listening to on a specific playlist.
I just canceled my personal spotify premium and switched to family youtube/music premium. The RUclips/Music Premium bundle is what drives me. Also, lots of Japanese music publishers doesn't put their music on Spotify, while they don't put their music on RUclips Music, but there's a video version of said music on RUclips... So.... The easiest jumping of service provider in my life, and I've been Spotify subscriber ever since they start their service in my country in 2016.
I like and use Pandora. I thumbs up or thumbs down a song. I listen to my favorite channels. It will play on my TV, Phone, iPad and in my car. If I get a phone call it pauses the song and continues when I hang up.
I always switch between PC, laptop, and phone for listening, and Spotify makes it so much easier. And I can control it from smartwatch, it's a blessing. Also, I don't want my video subscriptions and music listening to be bundled. The price of YT is tempting, though
I mean finding a song in yt adding it to you playlist and instantly being able to see it in yt music is just such a convenience rather than searching for that same song in Spotify.
I've got access to both. I'm currently using Spotify. I recently got an Amazon Echo Dot and it doesn't work with YT music from what I can tell. I just like Spotify's look and feel more. The DJ feature is nice and I'm not really having an issue with my preferred music not being available. One thing that popped u0 in my mind while reading all these comments about YT music being bundled with YT Premium is that YT essentially created a problem out of thin air and have been actively making it worse while also selling us the solution (Premium). Seems a bit scummy to me 🤷♂️
one thing that i think it was not talked about, and that is key to me, is that in mobile devices, you can listen to music on spotify while your phone is turned off. It's something that increases life battery (even if it's just a little bit) and is a lot more convenient for walks, because you don't have to worry about, inadvertently, clicking one wrong button (which had happened to me on youtube music).
Been a YT Premium subscriber since it came out. Mostly because I watch a lot of YT videos. Really enjoy both YT Music and Spotify. BUT... For me, being able to play Spotify on any of my HEOS (Denon) speakers all through my house makes Spotify the choice for me. If I didn't have this requirement I would just stay on YT Premium and save the money for Spotify. Thanks for a great video!!!
I've been wanting to test out youtube music cuz i wanna buy yt prmium so i think its time to test out youtube msuic's free plan first, if the algorithm is good and give good recs i'll change subscription from spotify to yt premium ps. the only reason i've been hesitant about testing yt music is that i've heard tht the quality of music is worse than spotify and if that turns out to be true than i can't switch
I switched from Spotify to Apple Music and finally to YT Music because of my friend's YT Premium. The only drawback is that CarPlay doesn't give me an overview of the individual songs in a playlist
There's a lot of music I have on CD that I can't find on streaming anywhere. Stuff I can find on RUclips includes the KLF - 3 A.M. Eternal (Guns of Mu Mu).
In my country RUclips premium family (6 accounts) is cheaper than Spotify premium for only one account. 4USD vs 5 USD. I was using google play music since around 2014, then it transformed into yt music. I really liked play music more, cause I could buy music and dowload it, while on yt music I can only stream it. On the other hand Spotify is integrated into lots of devices, while youtube music is not. I can't even control yt music with Bixby voice assistant on my Samsung phone or tablet, while Spotify is supported. Also new JBL charge 5 wifi and other wifi speakers like Bose all support Spotify, but not RUclips. Hope this will change with time.
I already have RUclips premium and not thinking about another subscription for media playing is a great thing for me, also bonus for interchangeable video/music playing with the RUclips playlist Also I really like BGM music, which usually really hard to find the official song (and even some doesn't have official release), not even counting missing out so many great covers and indies out here The UI and managing playlist is kinda clunky but hey at least it has the music that I want to hear
Great info thank you. I will be going for RUclips Premium as i also watch a fair bit of RUclips and its only a few dollars more than Spotify. I was leaning towards RUclips before but I was worried that i might miss out on something in Spotify. Your video showed i wasn't missing out on to much. Thank you
I have both paid versions of Spotify and RUclips premium. You failed to mention that Spotify has free audio books with paid subscription. I also believe the podcasts are better on the Spotify app. The only reason I'm still keeping RUclips premium is the ad free videos.
Spot on. YT music wierdly has a better UI than Spotify, only thing YT music needs are native apps and something like spotify connect and syncing play status across multiple devices. it suck that each YT music instance is unique and not synced. I'm subscribed to both currently just because no YT background play on XBox consoles, i only use spotify on my console.
I can control YT music from any device. I can also control it the desktop app or web app if I started it from the phone or my smart speaker. I don't know if its a premium feature or not.
While the ads on youtube music is annoying I have the freedom to listen to whatever I want to at anytime for free plus the recap playlist is something I enjoy. I know only use spotify for podcasts
RUclips Music app needs a scrollbar and they need to make it easier to download music in your library. When I get a new phone I hate dealing with redownloading my music
I feel like I could improve RUclips Music, it's really separating it from RUclips Premium. An example the guy gave: I'm subscribed to an artist's channel (via YTM), and he also appears subscribed to RUclips Premium. They should really be separated, to have more organization and less mess. another, I'm having problems with yt's song recap. I can't access it, even listening until the end of the year and saying "I didn't listen to enough music, or any music at all". Ytm needs to improve a lot of things, especially when it comes to separating songs and algorithms. I have a RUclips class playlist, and my music playlists appear next to it. in other words, everything is messed up.
I have a problem with RUclips music, I like to hear music on the pc sometimes and the volume of YT music goes only from loud to very loud, there is no way to reduce a significant amount of volume like with Spotify for some reason.
YTM can’t even get artist names correctly labeled. Missing or outright incorrect album art and lyrics. Plus, it’s only a matter of time till Google kills it.
In my experience, RUclips does better recommendations than Spotify. RUclips recommend based on your music, Spotify is more like "recommend the popular song".
haha, what? I agree with your last statement, I don't give a flying fuck about what the mainstream artists are up to when I discover new music, but I just don't see those artists and that mainstream music unless I go to the home page. and I don't, I go straight to the library. which service do you use? I'll take your word for it if you've had experience with both YTM and Spotify
@@oddball1336 I use RUclips Music, I used to use Spotify (paid versions in both cases). In RUclips Music predomine the user library over other artist in the home page (its more notorious in the web page than the app).
There is no rival to YTM Premium. Ultimately, it is library collection that matters the most. If you are missing out on interesting music, what's the point of UI, controls, and all the fancy features? What will you organise and control if your favourite songs are not there? What can AI do if the library lacks a match for your taste? Update: thanks for the likes and replies! If you listen to Indian music, you know there are hundreds of songs missing on Spotify. Zee Music has withdrawn access. Saregama HMV has many albums only in parts. It's frustrating to say the least.
@@razvanivascu1303 I think it's better. no videos playing by default, all my most played right in front, no promotional playlists or mixes everywhere, something I absolutely hate in Spotify
Too bad youtube is retarded and isn't capable of just playing what I tell it to play without throwing in random songs I don't want it to. Also it stop playing without even getting close to completing a playlist. I miss google play music but now switched to spotify
I've been a proud user of RUclips music since day one and I love it, the radio tuner (recently added) is now my favorite feature! And of course I love having RUclips premium bundled. The other day I was watching videos in a friend's phone and an add popped, I was genuinely surprised to see an add, I forgot that they existed (Taylor reference). Spotify is great but if you like watching videos and great playlists RUclips music is a no brainer 😅
This is the primary reason I am about to make the switch. There are no ads, and they relatively cost about the same. Hell, if you pay annually up front, you even get a 15% discount. Easy decision, considering how much time I spend on RUclips.
I listen to a good amount of Japanese music. Due to cross-country licensing issues, on Spotify it can be really hard to find those songs. There has even been controversy when a bunch of Japanese songs were on Spotify but then were removed all at once one day. I have had zero issue finding my Japanese songs on RUclips music. For that reason, I’ve completely ditched Spotify years ago and had zero regrets.
Deezer is also good at finding japanese songs too and its good at finding songs from around the world as well. But since the company is French they will randomly play French songs a good amount of the time.
I was a big fan of Google Play Music and finally now RUclips Music has caught up. Since it's bundled with RUclips Premium, I've stuck with Google and not given Spotify much attention. Thanks for the comparison video, it helped cement my decision.
I woudln't say it's caught up entierly... the abaililty to play your offline mp3 along side your online music seemely is still missing BUT not like anyone else is offering that anyway since the big push from tech is down with local storage up with the cloud... so yeah... other then they thou I agree.
I had Spotify for years but back in 2021 I got curious about checking out other platforms. In my extensive research I determined that RUclips Music is the best streaming service on the market. Even over Spotify. I'm glad this video acknowledges that. Well done sir.
Hell yeah, yt music combines the best of both worlds from Apple Music (downloading for offline listening) & Musi (songs that I can’t find on Apple Music) & instead of using brave browser I now use the yt app again
This is a great video! This particular choice is a no brainer for me in South Africa. RUclips Premium gets me no ads in RUclips and RUclips Music for R72 per month ($3.80 USD), while Spotify would cost be R60 ($3.15 USD) but I would still have ads in RUclips.
@deivis1091 You could, but that way you ensure that the RUclips creators get paid nothing for your views, comments, likes, or interactions. At least with RUclips Premium, they still get paid. In fact, many creators have mentioned that they get paid more for Premium users viewing their content then regular ad watching users. Ironically, you also paying the music artists less. Spotify is one of the worst in the industry, paying artists 3x less per stream than Apple and approx. 80% less than RUclips. Don't get me wrong, I use ad block on many sites, but we forget that it screws over fellow humans more than it does big tech companies. I use it for privacy and sanity. It is a tough balancing act.
I use ytm premium, mainly for yt premium. But i almost instantly realized that ytm learns your music taste faster, like it just needs 2-3 songs, whereas spotify took about a week of listening to do the same. Also, spotify is costlier and youtube is more vfm (yt + ytm). Earlier i used to use vanced, but i noticed it drained my battery like a vampire.
Spotify learnt wrongly for me. I watch distractible and it won't stop recommending me rslash. Ytm knows what I wanna play and not wanna play so it was kind of a no brainer to keep distractible as a show I watch but continue using ytm
It then forces them down your throat even if you don't actually like them. You click shuffle and it shuffles your playlist for a little and then either stops playing or throws in songs you never asked it to play without ever completing the playlist
I went RUclips music 2 years ago because of the premium bundle and i can say i witnessed it evolve before my eye, it's absolutely amazing now as immersive as Spotify for me, i don't think I'll ever go back and they added podcasts 2 weeks ago, i absolutely love it
RUclips Music could easily be the best streaming service. They got the Algorithm (from RUclips itself), the Videos, Servers, Storage, basically all you need to turn this into a great product. I've been using it for almost a year now and it wouldn't even take much: Better audio quality, better UI, better music discovery page, that's literally all that would be needed. Sadly it feels like that there's only a very small team working on it, since it barely ever gets any mentionable updates or improvements.
I've been using YT Music for several years, and while yeah it started off rough, and still isn't quite yet competing with all the features that Spotify has (we need a YT Connect feature... PLEASE.) it still suits my needs pretty well. I also feel the algorithm just gets me better. Not to mention YT Premium is such a plus. Especially in the era of people complaining that YT has too many ads. I have the family plan which while costly brings a lot of benefit to my family and I. Anytime I can't make a payment and the service is cancelled for a few days they notice because its a lot of benefit lost. While not perfect, YT Music is still going to improve on itself even if its sometimes years behind on its updates.
I'm using yt music now and canceled my Spotify already. the best part of yt music is the amount of songs you can have as it is integrates RUclips song covers
In India Spotify had almost all features free Very different from other countries. You didn't need a premium to enjoy music except for sound quality and ads. And it had every song I listen to. In youtube's case i can't even listen it in background without premium😒 I was using Spotify for 3 years and the new update is trash. Now you need premium for basic features it had. Now both are equally trash😊
YTM user here. Absolutely love it. Prefer it over spotify. My only gripe is the lack of native windows app. All 3rd party client apps are also web based, so, I have to keep mp3s with me.
I've been on YT Music since Google Play Music but also had Spotify on/off over the years. Spotify was good at parties because of the session and blend features, but YT was always better when listening solo because it always felt like it had better algorithmic shuffles. On Spotify, I would often be listening to the same few songs from the past few weeks but RUclips would try to splice in something new or something I haven't listened to in a while. Plus, the YT library being shared with YT Music means indie bands, overseas songs, and soundtracks that aren't available as music can still be enjoyed as music via the video mode. At this point, all my friends have switched from Spotify as well because of these features and the YT Premium bonus.
I'm from Pakistan and ofcourse listen to Indian music too as its really good. One of my fav songs called ''apna bana le'' was removed from spotify alongwith ALL the songs from Zee music company of india due to legal dispute idk.But spotify removed all of their songs and its frustrating to say the least. Nevertheless, yt music got it all and it does have a much bigger library than spotify. But then again this is for indo-pak region specifically xd
Spotify as far as I know, does an aweful job of actually shuffling my playlist. Instead of just giving me a straight up shuffle that is completely random, it instead gives me songs that are more “popular” so I could go through the entire playlist before I hear any of niche songs I have on there. It’s really annoying hearing a lot of the same songs every time I shuffle. I do kinda like the new enhanced shuffle option but it’s also bordering on just giving me the same kind of songs to the point that I’m thinking of turning it off. I haven’t used RUclips music in a long while but I can’t exactly switch because my family is on the family plan for Spotify and I don’t feel like paying the RUclips premium subscription yet. But I do remember really liking it when I had it, one example I think back to is when I used to love listening to white stripes and their live covers, Catch Hell Blues is a total banger live and RUclips had the cover. Spotify doesn’t have it. Maybe one day I’ll switch but ima wait til I’m in college because I’ve heard of RUclips’s student discount and it sounds amazing for what you get with it.
I've been a longtime Spotify user, however I've been using RUclips Music a whole lot more mainly because of its algorithm. I find it miles better than the Spotify one
I love Spotify but it's family plan is the same price as RUclips Premium which makes the value comparison not even close. I could never go back to normal RUclips. The UI of RUclips Music is not as good as Spotify but it is getting better. The only feature I'm really missing from RUclips Music is integrated podcasts which is not available in my country yet.
😢agreed, I like more RUclips Music, majorly because of the wide availability of live versions, b-sides, covers and entire shows. It's more complete to my eyes, more alive. Also the way it handles music videos is perfect. The only missing thing is added recently (karaoke mode).
RUclips has one major flaw that makes it very inconvenient: no playlist sorting. You have to know where certain songs are within a playlist if you want to find them. That coupled with the mess that is subscribing to an artist keeps me from using the serrvice.
@@felipetiecherSo true. There isn't even a search function within your playlist unless it's downloaded. Want to listen to a specific artists songs but only the ones on your playlist? Scroll through your thousands of songs. Want to listen to a song in your playlist but only remember the artist name? Same deal.
People that hear music in RUclips uses RUclips not RUclips Music. They should've customized RUclips to be way better to listen to music, like, an option to make it more like a music streaming service instead of making a whole new app that I ain't using and stil has some videos that ain't even avaible. Like, older people use RUclips as a music streaming service old people do not want to lean to use an new app tho. I think Spotify is WAY better than RUclips Music it's because of UI, community, etc... I used RUclips Music for a while and I jsut got tired of how simple it is. I want good UI choices and a good algorith.
As a long-time Spotify user, RUclips Music has some serious usability issues. 1) Playlists can't be sorted. It's 2023, this is insane. 2) On my phone while using Google Maps, when the YT Music audio turns down for navigation audio, the YT Music audio clips really bad. 3) Unless I am completely disconnected from the internet, downloaded music does not immediately play from my device. Spotty connection? YT Music still checks in before playing downloaded music. There does not seem to be a similar "downloaded only" toggle like in Spotify. This is also insane. There are more usability issues, but those are my three biggest gripes over the past 3 months.
THe fact that youtube music doesn't have a dedicated app for dekstop in 2023 is beyond me, it's such a stupid decision and yes, technicallly you can create a bookmarklet as a workaround, but it's one of the main reasons I won't swap. Having to keep a browser open to play music has to be one of the most idiotic decisions made by a tech company that praises itself on inovation
My biggest complaint against RUclips Music is the inablility to sort albums by artist. It only sorts them by album name. I often have trouble locating albums I've included in my library because of this.
My only complaint about YTM is that the volume balance across tracks can be a little off. Otherwise, it's an easy switch for me. I love Spotify's playlist insights though; good recommendations.
The biggest disadvantage of RUclips music is that I cant join 2 google account and be toghether in a family plan. You can only get family plan for 1 google account and then everybody has the same recomentatoon and lack of privacy
The size of YTM’s library, on top of it being bundled with a YT premium subscription is what did it for me. I actually think music tends to sound slightly better on other platforms, maybe because YTM is capped at 256kbps and most other services go at least up to 320kbps or even offer lossless, but that ultimately doesn’t matter to me if the music I’m looking for isn’t available on the platform. Plus I do the majority of my listening on my AirPods which only support the AAC codec anyway, so I wouldn’t even see any benefit from subscribing to a service that offers lossless audio.
ytm's 256kbps opus is really good compared to spotify's and sometimes the dynamic range is there on ytm. you won't even notice the difference between opus 256kbps to a compressed 320kbps.
There's a separate Google app for podcasts: Google Podcasts. The way it functions is quite similar to Apple Podcasts, though: Both of these are a free service separated from YT Music and Apple Music respectively, and ads from Google and Apple are baked into the recording. If having a separate podcast app is a deal-breaker, that's fine, but I didn't mind this when I had Apple Music, and I don't mind it with YT Music now, since at least there's a clearer separation between the types of content I listen to.
YTM is lacking the one thing you didn't mention.....crossfade. And tbh that's the deal breaker for me personally. I've used all 3 platforms extensively (including Apple) and other than audio quality and, well, a better *looking* interface on AM, Spotify wins pretty well every other category. YTM is quite good though, and if you're already buying YT Premium, it makes good sense to just use that service.
Crossfade and volume leveling are really rough omissions in YT Music in my opinion. I really do love the service but constantly adjusting the volume between songs is ridiculous in 2023
The UI/UX is also pretty gross. YTM is nowhere near the top of the music streaming services. In fact, it's so bad, I have Apple Music so I have a good music streaming service.
In my country (Bangladesh) spotify costs BDT 199/month (around USD 1.80). Sporty podcast is not available. RUclips premium + youtube music cost BDT 239/month (USD 2.20). RUclips premium totally worth it for me.
Yes I hate spotify only for one reason, it blocks many songs I like to listen to (it just makes them grayed out and unplayable). First it gives you the song and then bans it after week or 2, I don't care if it is copyrighted or not, I just want to listen to that song. I can just scroll my playlist and see many gray songs which I can't play anymore on spotify which sucks.
In this situation, you're using the Spotify Free plan, It's just a limitation, so you have to buy the premium plan. That's why I changed from Spotify to YT Music, I finally found someone who shares the same problem me.
That Spotify DJ feature must be restricted to some countries. It does not appear on the Portuguese version even do I run it in English as I do for all my software.
I cancelled my Apple Music subscription because RUclips Premium with YT Music was a better deal, since I watch RUclips a lot. That being said, the user experience for me on Apple Music was better than YT Music for my music listening, which is to just listen to an artist's album rather than fire up a playlist. That might just come from me preferring to spend money on buying digital albums and especially CDs, since there are songs that I listen to that aren't available on any streaming service.
I’ve used both extensively I love Spotify’s app and the algorithms for recommendations are amazing. I settled on RUclips music though because it’s just a simply better deal. The app is really good now but the three key reasons are 1. Access to RUclips premium, RUclips, without ads is a mind blindly different experience and it’s nice knowing that I am supporting creators. 2. Access to all music on RUclips not just RUclips music. This is great for unofficial tracks, live performances, covers, remixes, and so much more unsanctioned content. 3. Personal upload music library. I have a lot of old music, demo track and underground music that just can’t be found on any other streaming services and knowing that I can still listen to these alongside my streaming service has been great. Either way though I think both are great services and you can’t really go wrong with either.
WHAT??? "Spotify’s app and the algorithms for recommendations are amazing." do you live in a diffrent demension as me??? because i had been using it for over 2 years, but it has the littelary WORST algorithm.... It pushes song genres onto me that i absolutely HATE, and even thought i never liked such a song, dont have one in my playlist and i literary ALWAYS skip them. But to this day I'm still only flooded with genres that i absolutely despise as soon my playlist runs out after 5h of lissening... its SUPER rare, that it finds the right songs in the genre I'm listening to. It also has fewer songs that you can choose from, particularly for small artists, and way to many songs from other countries are blocked... While for example SoundCloud has a superb algorithm, like every day/week there is a list of 30+ newly released songs from many very small artist songs that have like 100-2000 plays, but nearly all fit my taste, something like that sadly does not exist on Spotify... (SoundCloud is on the other hand pretty bad when it comes to playlist management) And RUclips does not have the best algorithm, but It's still many miles better than Spotify, it was rare that it recommended me a song that didn't fit my taste, but it can get repetitive or many olds songs are pushed, and the amount of songs is also a lot wider... Spotify was for me only useful when i already know which song i want to listen to, or to listen like the top 100 Chart or some premade playlists or some huge artists. As the sound quality is just better, but never the algorithm...
I’ll switch from Spotify the moment YTM adds one simple feature: be able to search within your playlists. If your playlists are anywhere remotely large, this is a huge problem and I don’t see it get talked about enough. I shouldn’t have to use a PC and ctrl+f to find a track which doesn’t even work all the time.
RUclips music has no right to exist. For the very first iPhone was able to play music with a device locked but they took it away and made it a premium paid feature. RUclips music can only exist due to the removal of that feature so in principle I will never pay for it. I'm not paying a subscription just because you decided to make your product terrible on purpose
What I found interesting about RUclips music and that you can switch to other countries and and see what on there top billboards another Spotify free region but you won't get up 14 days to try it for free
I actually have a funny story about using youtube music premium. One day I was at the gym, and, as I was without any headphones, I was forced to listen to that gym's playlist. At some point there was a song that for some reason reminded me of an old tv program, which for those of you who know it was called "art attack" (It was a program aired in multiple countries I believe, not just where I grew up in Italy), and suddenly I had the urge to listen to its opening, so, as I got out of the gym, I opened my youtube music app, searched for the track, found it, and with a big smile I pressed the play button, only to find out a few moments later that that video was actually a rickroll. In the end I managed to find the actual track, but that moment was sincerely priceless
I've had Spotify premium since 2017, and had no clue it even had a dj feature. Doesn't even seem like anything I would use. I guess the biggest question I have about YT Music is their Podcast selection. Nothing was mentioned about that.
The big reason why I like RUclips music is not only the wide song selection but also the ability to actually chose your songs, like Spotify free makes you unable to chose your own song without skipping, and you only get 6 skips an hour

that video was great! I rate it 10/10.
RUclips has so many more songs than spotify its not even close
Only issue is like 50% of the songs I like on YT music have been taken down or for some reason can’t play on YT music. I just stick to the RUclips app
@HL09 It's mostly that song probably did not use the Music category when uploading videos.
It's ridiculous
i just use local files
if you want to find new songs soundcloud is really really good at finding songs you might like, but the playlist sistem there is pretty bad. So use if for finding cool new songs and lissen them on youtube or so
I'm using both services. Yt music to discover new music and Spotify as my main service. Some disadvantages of Yt music in opinion:
- No volume normalization
- My biggest frustration is that you can't search within a Playlist 😒
But I love that I can just double tap to skip 10 or more seconds on Yt music on android.
@@lemonlizard1 same, I found spotify better
Yeah, I switched to Spotify just for the search function within my Playlist, for me it is a dealbreaker
@@ItsEbanits kinda funny since if you use vimusic (kinda similar to youtube vanced) it actually has the volume normalization feature.
The strongest feature YT music has is that if a song is removed due to licencing issues they kind of get around it by sourcing from youtube. Kinda sketchy but I had a song that was removed from all platforms get hit so it's been nice
Yes.
No you tube connect though
Been on YT music for about 2 months and its been the best honestly not switching anytime soon
The fact that you still cant search playlists in youtube music makes the app unusable tbh
I like and use Pandora. I thumbs up or thumbs down a song. I listen to my favorite channels. It will play on my TV, Phone, iPad and in my car. If I get a phone call it pauses the song and continues when I hang up.
The Audio Tuner is game changer on YT Music. Thanks for the tip
4:36 for this issue, log into your music account on an incognito tab
I always switch between PC, laptop, and phone for listening, and Spotify makes it so much easier. And I can control it from smartwatch, it's a blessing.
Also, I don't want my video subscriptions and music listening to be bundled. The price of YT is tempting, though
I mean finding a song in yt adding it to you playlist and instantly being able to see it in yt music is just such a convenience rather than searching for that same song in Spotify.
Downloading music>>>>>>>
I've got access to both. I'm currently using Spotify. I recently got an Amazon Echo Dot and it doesn't work with YT music from what I can tell.
I just like Spotify's look and feel more. The DJ feature is nice and I'm not really having an issue with my preferred music not being available.
One thing that popped u0 in my mind while reading all these comments about YT music being bundled with YT Premium is that YT essentially created a problem out of thin air and have been actively making it worse while also selling us the solution (Premium). Seems a bit scummy to me 🤷♂️
After watching this, I will still use the old piracy method and making my custom library
one thing that i think it was not talked about, and that is key to me, is that in mobile devices, you can listen to music on spotify while your phone is turned off. It's something that increases life battery (even if it's just a little bit) and is a lot more convenient for walks, because you don't have to worry about, inadvertently, clicking one wrong button (which had happened to me on youtube music).
Haven't heard of wireless earbuds that allows you to play previous/skip tracks with a few pushes on the ear.
3:20 Dolby Atmos Is built in my phone and literally works with everything online...
The only thing I don’t like in RUclips is the current music playing doesn’t sync to different devices.
I've been wanting to test out youtube music cuz i wanna buy yt prmium so i think its time to test out youtube msuic's free plan first, if the algorithm is good and give good recs i'll change subscription from spotify to yt premium
ps. the only reason i've been hesitant about testing yt music is that i've heard tht the quality of music is worse than spotify and if that turns out to be true than i can't switch
I already have RUclips premium and not thinking about another subscription for media playing is a great thing for me, also bonus for interchangeable video/music playing with the RUclips playlist
Also I really like BGM music, which usually really hard to find the official song (and even some doesn't have official release), not even counting missing out so many great covers and indies out here
The UI and managing playlist is kinda clunky but hey at least it has the music that I want to hear
I have been using Spotify for more than 7 years and now planning to move towards YT music
YT music don't allow background play in free version which is a must need feature.
I can control YT music from any device. I can also control it the desktop app or web app if I started it from the phone or my smart speaker. I don't know if its a premium feature or not.
This videos is a must for everyone looking for info about these services. Well done good sir! Well done indeed!
While the ads on youtube music is annoying I have the freedom to listen to whatever I want to at anytime for free plus the recap playlist is something I enjoy. I know only use spotify for podcasts
I like Pandora because better layout and it does a better job recommending next song
Nobody’s talking about this so, does YTM have the 6 skips per hour thing on the free plan?
The whole time you were describing Spotify connect, you were just saying things that I do with my RUclips music and Google accounts as well?
YTM can’t even get artist names correctly labeled. Missing or outright incorrect album art and lyrics. Plus, it’s only a matter of time till Google kills it.
Any given song I like has a 50% chance of not being on Spotify. It's absolutely ridiculous.
So true. RUclips Music recommendations are infinitely better.
Actually no
only true !
Spotify's library has more than enough songs for the usual listener, so those things matter, plus I really dislike the YTM app design
@@TheBallJiggler If you listen to unofficial remixes and diferent songs, Spotify will probabily seems like it have no music
@@razvanivascu1303 I think it's better. no videos playing by default, all my most played right in front, no promotional playlists or mixes everywhere, something I absolutely hate in Spotify
Agree, due to same reason I don't use Spotify
Too bad youtube is retarded and isn't capable of just playing what I tell it to play without throwing in random songs I don't want it to. Also it stop playing without even getting close to completing a playlist. I miss google play music but now switched to spotify
My biggest problem with RUclips Music is that Google treats it as if it was RUclips. It should be clearly seperated one from the other.
Oh and when you add a song to play next the "This song will play next" message blocks your access to the queue tab😅
shitty developpers are verry much brainless wankers
that is one of the pros for many people

I never see ads and don't have RUclips premium. I don't know if it's because of my country or I'm one of those few that get no ads
Same! I love that song from Spirited Away ( いつも何度でも)
That's actually really important to me thanks for the input!
There's only one song that I can't find on youtube music and spotify
@@touma5340 which one?
Deezer is also good at finding japanese songs too and its good at finding songs from around the world as well. But since the company is French they will randomly play French songs a good amount of the time.
I was a big fan of Google Play Music and finally now RUclips Music has caught up. Since it's bundled with RUclips Premium, I've stuck with Google and not given Spotify much attention. Thanks for the comparison video, it helped cement my decision.
Me too plus free movie no commercials with premium
I woudln't say it's caught up entierly... the abaililty to play your offline mp3 along side your online music seemely is still missing BUT not like anyone else is offering that anyway since the big push from tech is down with local storage up with the cloud... so yeah... other then they thou I agree.
Yeah, just pay yt premium and i got both.
@@Queen76543 i mean its not free, you're paying for it with a subscription
i still miss play music but YTM seems a lot better now. I had a cover un-listed in my yt channel and i can listen it with YTM. It is awesome
I had Spotify for years but back in 2021 I got curious about checking out other platforms. In my extensive research I determined that RUclips Music is the best streaming service on the market. Even over Spotify. I'm glad this video acknowledges that. Well done sir.
Thank you. That's what I always suspected. Massive library and so much more than music. Huge comments section. Plus a good price.
Especially the Student plan, which is only R42
Or you could use ad block extensions
@@matthewsjardine good explanation
Revanced supposedly works better than vanced but its a bit of a headache to install it without following steps
Yeah I used Apple Music & brave browser but the app kinda sucked, if I had known about yt premium months ago I would have gotten this much earlier
@@YavorDMaplepretty easy to do once you get the hang of it
I went RUclips music 2 years ago because of the premium bundle and i can say i witnessed it evolve before my eye, it's absolutely amazing now as immersive as Spotify for me, i don't think I'll ever go back and they added podcasts 2 weeks ago, i absolutely love it
RUclips Music could easily be the best streaming service.
In youtube's case i can't even listen it in background without premium😒
I was using Spotify for 3 years and the new update is trash. Now you need premium for basic features it had.
Now both are equally trash😊
YTM user here. Absolutely love it. Prefer it over spotify. My only gripe is the lack of native windows app. All 3rd party client apps are also web based, so, I have to keep mp3s with me.
they can only be web based, due to how YTM works, I know this because I have made the new best client for Windows.
@@iTz_Nao which one?
yeah i had to use a third party but what i found good is that they have a build in ad blocker. not like it matters since i have premium.😅
@@PointTheorist I use an open source client called 11Tube
Spotify does not offer the Music i listen to but YT Music does therefore YT Music
We're supposed to be adding podcast for all countries by the end of the year
It's here and I'm gladdd
😢agreed, I like more RUclips Music, majorly because of the wide availability of live versions, b-sides, covers and entire shows. It's more complete to my eyes, more alive. Also the way it handles music videos is perfect. The only missing thing is added recently (karaoke mode).
RUclips has one major flaw that makes it very inconvenient: no playlist sorting. You have to know where certain songs are within a playlist if you want to find them. That coupled with the mess that is subscribing to an artist keeps me from using the serrvice.
You can rearrange the songs in a playlist by editing the playlist.
@@TheHellRaiser58 yes, but you can only sort by recent first or last. Otherwise you have to drag songs around like an animal.
@@felipetiecherSo true. There isn't even a search function within your playlist unless it's downloaded. Want to listen to a specific artists songs but only the ones on your playlist? Scroll through your thousands of songs. Want to listen to a song in your playlist but only remember the artist name? Same deal.
You forgot google's censorship and cancelation culture
I have both apps, and I prefer RUclips.
I often have trouble locating albums I've included in my library because of this.
i dont know what you mean if i go to an artist there are every album of the artist sortet by date of realease
Just click artist and voila instant sort. RUclips is so much more than music.
So true never able to find the latest album from an artist unless I know it by name it will never do Album In order
@@Blasphemy1993sort by release date. Simple as that
hate the sorting in youtube. i would love to sort the albums by artist, but in chronological order at the same time
My only complaint about YTM is that the volume balance across tracks can be a little off. Otherwise, it's an easy switch for me. I love Spotify's playlist insights though; good recommendations.
I can say the same for spofity
Yes! Hope they fix that soon! I want the equalizer from Spotify and the fade-cross
@@ZSW43in Spotify there's an option to equalize the volume across songs
I have Spotify and RUclips music in my iPhone, but I used Spotify the most so I would even argue to switch to that music platform easily
One big reason for using Spotify is podcast.
Not as many as and my favourite content creator's ain't in YT music .
I really do love the service but constantly adjusting the volume between songs is ridiculous in 2023
It's not a deal breaker but I do wish that they did have Crossfade as someone that does use RUclips premium
Also Spotify Connect is a massive dealbreaker, find myself using YTM only for songs that are not available on other platforms.
The UI/UX is also pretty gross. YTM is nowhere near the top of the music streaming services. In fact, it's so bad, I have Apple Music so I have a good music streaming service.
I use YT music, it is 50% cheaper the Spotify in my country. + I get both YT Premium and YT Music with half the money.
I think that Spotify is personally better for me because I use the genre mixes and decade mixes A LOT it’s most of what I listen to great video!!
Both of these are good. Apple Music is just bad, app experience wise
The most important will always be the music quality, and I definitely find Spotify with better quality than RUclips music
I’ve used both extensively I love Spotify’s app and the algorithms for recommendations are amazing. I settled on RUclips music though because it’s just a simply better deal. The app is really good now but the three key reasons are
(SoundCloud is on the other hand pretty bad when it comes to playlist management)
And RUclips does not have the best algorithm, but It's still many miles better than Spotify, it was rare that it recommended me a song that didn't fit my taste, but it can get repetitive or many olds songs are pushed, and the amount of songs is also a lot wider...
Spotify was for me only useful when i already know which song i want to listen to, or to listen like the top 100 Chart or some premade playlists or some huge artists. As the sound quality is just better, but never the algorithm...
@@m_lies Spotify works well for me. So far, at least as far as I can remember, there haven't been any songs that are not to my taste
One thing I like as a full time RUclips user is the "heard on shorts" tab where you can find songs form YT Shorts which is perfect if you use both
RUclips music has no right to exist. For the very first iPhone was able to play music with a device locked but they took it away and made it a premium paid feature. RUclips music can only exist due to the removal of that feature so in principle I will never pay for it. I'm not paying a subscription just because you decided to make your product terrible on purpose
Spotify has a better convenience experience , RUclips has more music
I would choose YTM if it had an option to search within playlist and sort playlists by artist. Also volume normalization is a feature I would love...
I've had Spotify premium since 2017, and had no clue it even had a dj feature. Doesn't even seem like anything I would use. I guess the biggest question I have about YT Music is their Podcast selection. Nothing was mentioned about that.
The big reason why I like RUclips music is not only the wide song selection but also the ability to actually chose your songs, like Spotify free makes you unable to chose your own song without skipping, and you only get 6 skips an hour
not being able to close yt music is a much lesser tradeoff than that so yea also same reason why i used yt
@@davids7646 tho tbh it kinda does turn into a glorified RUclips because it does everything that normal RUclips does but just with music only
