McDermott's such a better athlete than he's often thought of. He's not just a standstill 3-point jump shooter. He's a proper wing, a versatile 6'8" outside/in player who can play the 2, 3 or 4 positions. In addition to his deadly and consistent outside shooting, he's a strong, graceful finisher around the rim and while he won't be entering any dunk contests, he can slam it down with ease, even in traffic. He's worked hard to lose the baby fat he carried when he was at Creighton and his early NBA days, and he's maximized his athleticism because of it. His defense is still bottom 10% of the league and it prevents him from getting more minutes but even that's improved somewhat, as he gives what he has.
Pretty much sums it up. you have your stars, You have your rotation player you have your guys who need to find the right fit to get minutes and you have your guys who are strictly on the bench as back ups. Doug is the third category, and while his minutes were down last season in San Antonio and he may be traded again. He seems to have found his niche. The man has an almost 38 inch vertical leap and as you stated he can dunk in traffic in the NBA.
I've seen way too many articles discouraging it, but I for one would be jumping for joy if we could land Jalen Duren at #9. Unless Keegan Murray somehow slides that far due to his age, there's just nobody else in that pick range that fills our biggest needs.
His cuts to the basket influenced my game a lot! I know there are better cutters than him, it's just that I watch Spurs' games a lot more than other teams
That I haven't seen y'all put out a Lonnie Walker Season's Top Plays video still is tragic. Even if it's mostly focused on the back quarter of the season, his highlights are tough to top.

Doug had a very solid season this year for San Antonio! His three point shooting was a big addition to the Spurs offense!
