    Along with Jabari Parker, Doug is the most NBA ready player in the draft. He's a deadeye from the NBA 3, he has the handles, he passes well, and Doug has an extremely high bball IQ. He is also one of the most efficient scorers in a variety offensive situations in the history of college hoops which will translate well to the NBA game. I think he'd do really well going to a team like Phoenix or Golden State.

      are u kidding phoenix is running an athletic system how the hell can Doug fit there?

    • @bernman23
      @bernman23 10 лет назад +5

      Llama Liban
      Are you? He out-hustles opponents, has decent straight line speed, and can shoot the trail 3. Plus, it would force him to guard less in the halfcourt against 3's who are too quick for him, or 4's who are too big. It compensates for his tweener status. It's a good fit, actually.

    • @seanbryant4089
      @seanbryant4089 10 лет назад

      He would do well on the SIXERS at the 10th pick if the other teams pass. Mostly because the SIXERS desperately need a consistent 3 point shooter and scorer to complement carter Williams

    • @bernman23
      @bernman23 10 лет назад

      Coincidentally I just thought of that in hearing about the Sixers' interest to trade MCW for the #7 pick, and in turn what would be an overall good draft plan for them. The value at 3 is Exum, so I think they should move MCW, who is a little worse version, and then they can feel free to select the Aussie. Then at 7 I think they should go Gordon because he's BPA and that would be a need after losing Thad Young. Then at 10 McDermott would be a good pick because he complements an Exum/MCW type, Gordon, and Noel; thanks to possessing the shooting and some of the scoring they don't right now. And Gordon plus Noel could help cover McD's lack of D. It's a good mix of players, and would have the Sixers off and running fast to reach their future destination.

    • @weiqi8956
      @weiqi8956 10 лет назад +1

      Speaking of being athletic, McDermott had the same combine vertical leap that Russell WestBrook had when he came out of college. Doug also has extremely good hand eye coordination, quick hands, and accelerates out of his cuts in the half court very fast. I'd say he is more athletic than he is given credit for and is a very difficult cover, especially if he is not the primary scorer.

  • @shieldsports8363
    @shieldsports8363 10 лет назад +5

    Doug can be an all-star. Don't get it twisted. His work ethic, his IQ, and his game cannot be denied. He could have some defensive deficiencies but he's worked on his body, and is more athletic than many thought. Just has to work on his agility.

    he's going to be an absolute steal if he goes 18-30. his work ethic and professionalism alone will make him a great player to have on a team.

  • @hmoobvball91

    He's put in a lot of work. He was a lot stiffer earlier in the year. To see him move that much better is a huge improvement. He won't be the best guy in the draft compared to guys with potential like Hakeem, Carmelo, Bosh, Wade, but certainly if he puts in the work he will definitely be a good 3rd or 4th option for a team.

    • @madinsomaniac
      @madinsomaniac 10 лет назад

      Yeah but you have to look at what happened with Fredette, the guy was picked up pretty high but he wasn't really ready for the NBA game and so people look back and would say he kinda went "too high". Scoring isn't just the only prime factor for transitioning well into the NBA game, I hope other areas of his game would open up when he enters the league but just don't expect him to get like 15+ points on the get-go especially when he's obviously gonna be playing that stretch-forward spot in his first year. He's gonna need some inside game if he wants to be better.

    • @DavidsTheBestAt2K12
      @DavidsTheBestAt2K12 10 лет назад +1

      madinsomaniac
      Yeah but Mccdermott has spent 4 years in college, you would hope after 4 years he would be NBA ready. Yes Jimmer struggled adapting to the NBA game but Jimmers a 6'2 shooting guard who played the point and all he coul do is score. Now Mcdermott is a decent defender and rebounder as well as being a great scorer. He's like Carmelo but not as athletic. Both great scorers but Melo is a shit defender. If Mcdermott can just score and defend well he could be an all star one day. Why does he need an inside game? Ilyasova doesn't have that much of an inside game and is mainly a shooter but still averages decent numbers in the NBA. It's not a must have in the NBA anymore, if he can take his man outside the 3 point line while playing the 4, he should be averaging a decent amount of points per game

    • @madinsomaniac
      @madinsomaniac 10 лет назад

      Being the bulls fan that I am, I'll have to have some leeway on the guy and just tell you this guy is gonna fit in Chicago if Thibs plays him. This was the right team to go to, he can polish up his defense there and fill the shooting gap alongside with Jimmer F.

When I first heard of him I pictured a slow, lengthy, nonathletic guy who only spot up shoot but after watching this video I'm convinced he can ball up in the NBA. He's a hell of a lot better than Kyle Korver that's for sure.

      I won't totally agree with that.There are several players who aren't the brightest that just play off instinct and athletic ability alone. Some players just get outclassed & he will be one of them. Look at his position. This man is a SF; he has to guard Carmelo, LeBron, Paul George etc. Even second tier 3s like Rudy Gay, Joe Johnson. He's gonna get eaten alive every night.

    Doug is way more athletic than given credit for and is the most NBA ready player in the draft. He has extremely quick hands and because he is a coaches son, he reads situations very well before they even happen. A lot of these so called athletes will be watching Doug on tv from their lazyboys while he is starring in the NBA.

  • @billyblanks6883
    @billyblanks6883 10 лет назад +4

    I don't know if I would call him a lottery pick but this guy Doug McDermott is a SOLID and SAFE pick after the lottery picks.
    Obviously he's a PURE SHOOTER with great size and you can easily compare him to a Kyle Kover type of player but this guy McDermott has play making ability off the dribble.
    Yes he LACKS athleticism mainly on DEFENSE but what he makes up for it is he has a HIGH BASKETBALL IQ and if you ask any veteran NBA player or really any professional basketball player. They would tell you they would MUCH RATHER play with a smart basketball player rather than a player with great athletic ability.
    Can you imagine this guy with a PG like a Chris Paul or a LeBron James? With the right fit, this guy McDermott can really contribute with his main skill and that's shooting that rock! And this coming from a Jabari Parker fan LoL! Good luck!

    • @billyblanks6883

      *Kyle Korver

    • @billyblanks6883
      @billyblanks6883 10 лет назад

      ***** First off you just come off like a little kid and I probably shouldn't comment back to you but I'll see how your next rebuttal will be like.
      Second off, of course Kyle Korver is better than Doug McDermott right now! Kyle's been in the league for how long now? LoL! And comparing Doug McDermott to Kyle Korver coming out of college is a compliment to both players if you didn't see that. Its probably because you're like 14yrs old and all you know is NBA2K but heres a little fun fact for you.....
      Where is all that athleticism and play making ability highlights of Kyle Korver in the NBA? I'll wait...... Oh yeah thats right...... Theirs hardly any because Kyle Korver's main job on ANY team is to catch and shoot! They're not giving the ball to Korver on the block or at the wing to dribble and create a play little man because they dont need that from him. EXACTLY what im trying to tell your YOUNG MINDED self that thats how teams off the back will use Doug McDermott! He will be used to stretch the defense with his AMAZING shooting just like they use Kyle Korver.
      And NO! Im not comparing these two players because they're WHITE! They both are the same height basically and their strong suit will never be defense if you know what I mean but you probably dont so I won't waste my time anymore with you little man. So go do your chores now so your parents will let you go play outside because I know its summer now huh WhooHoo! LMAO!

    • @billyblanks6883
      @billyblanks6883 10 лет назад +1

      ***** Well look who decided to show up? Bob Saget SENIOR lol. Haha just kidding you little boy. First off, lets get some of your main phrases from your first comment to me. You said....
      "How can you compare him to Korver? Korver is way better than this kid.... Believe or not korver is way faster and WAY more athletic."
      And lets see what was your famous little kid ending of your rant to me about how Korver is WAY better than McDermott. You put.....
      "McDermott will be better at taking bad shots."
      Now listen up Mr. Saget. Your WHOLE comment basically says one thing. Kyle Korver is WAY BETTER than Doug McDermott at EVERYTHING! But? Not once do I read where you put something called "A REASON" why you think Korver is WAY BETTER than McDermott! Haha lol! You basically came off like a #TeamKyleKorver all the way and a super #Hater for McDermott haha seriously bro.
      On my original post of McDermott, no where do you see that I put he this kid McDermott will be a lottery pick and he will be the greatest shooter since Larry Bird like what you're making it out to be.
      If you disagree with what I put than fine! Back up that mouth some points. Dont just put down, "McDermott will good at taking bad shots". Haha you'll just sounds like a little stupid kid haha.
      And another thing.... My favorite player in this years Draft is JABARI PARKER from Duke which is my favorite team.
      Now go ahead and call daddy to come help you with your rebuttal little guy lol.

  • @ianpleasant
    @ianpleasant 10 лет назад

    this workout video seems to confirm everyone's fears about drafting him. He doesn't have enough athleticism to finish going towards the hoop. He will be a great spot up shooter and has potential to be a good defender because of his speed/length and incredible basketball IQ. Unless I needed just a spot shooter (like the Kings) I wouldn't take him off the board this year until 12 or later

  • @marksabbas7502
    @marksabbas7502 10 лет назад

    some people laughed off comparing this guy to KD in terms of athletic ability alone. Let's see pre-draft measurements:
    Kevin Durant:
    Bench Press: 0 reps
    Max Vert: 33.5
    3/4 court sprint: 3.45
    lane agility: 12.33
    Doug McDermott:
    Bench Press: Couldn't find it But definitely stronger than KD
    Max Vert: 36.5
    3/4 court spring: 3.29
    Lane Agility: 11.1
    Where KD really beats McDermott is height and length, although Doug's 6'9.25 wingspan is not bad. No I'm not saying Doug will be as good as KD, but he's more athletic - surprisingly athletic - according to these numbers alone.

    • @TaliRT
      @TaliRT 10 лет назад

      Where KD really beats McDermott is in Talent and Competitive nature* And to be honest, Calculating athleticism is kind of bullshit, these drafts overblow these numbers so much, sure mcdermott may be able to jump 3 inches higher that day, from one stand still position that they practice probably for hours just for one stat, but that says almost nothing about how "athletic" Athleticism to me is twitsting in the air, finishing with your left hand avoiding a block, knowing when to jump, theres a reason people call doug unathletic compared to other players, it can't always be described like numbers on paper, but theres a reason.

(same as Westbrook's NBA combine vert). He is athletic as shit for his size. I think he is so technically sound and has such a high basketball IQ, that he doesn't need to beat people with pure athleticism. Doesn't mean he can't. He is a complete package. He's like a KD with a little less athleticism and no step back game. If he ever develops great footwork, some elevation on his shot for stepbacks for coming off screens, he's a 25 ppg guy in a couple years.

      vTRUv man please. I hate u you people that do that shit. I said his game is like KD cause they are both over 6'10 that mostly shoot and McDermott is not as athletic. I never said he'll be as good, and I just said he's a poor man's KD with potential. Stop tryna be cool and hop off the sack.

    Doug's too slow. My strongest memory of his game is how he was shut down by Duke in the 2013 NCAA tournament. That's what's in his future in the NBA. He'll have to work hard post-draft for a few years to add lower body strength and gain quickness. Otherwise he has no secure position to fill in the NBA (too slow for a 3).

    I see a poor man's Paul Pierce. Great scoring ability as he just has a knack for putting the ball in the basket. However, there's practically no athleticism but it's criminally overrated to have amazing athleticism. He works well with what he has but will it be enough in the NBA?

    • @represent411
      @represent411 10 лет назад

      Yeah but he can do something PP could never do and thats play in the post. This guy already has a developed post game if you watch his highlights, and the range of paul pierce. "theres practically no athleticism" were you watching him dunk the ball or do you just assume this because he is white? He Doesn't look andrew wiggins athletic but thats rare, but he taking off and dunking higher than some NBA players who are considered "athletic"

    • @isaiahquidilla3153
      @isaiahquidilla3153 10 лет назад

      represent411 I don't just count dunking and jumping ability. It wasn't a race thing. I mean Chase Budinger is crazy athletic and he's white. I"m taking into account his physical gifts like speed and quickness and strength. He got average athleticism but doesn't need it. He's incredibly coordinated and just plays extremely smart to make up for that.

    • @represent411
      @represent411 10 лет назад

      Isaiah Quidilla True there is more about athleticism than dunking, but he looked pretty quick on his feet to me for being 6'8. Yup thats why he can still be successful in the NBA, when you have great footwork, can shoot, and have a high basketball IQ, you can still thrive in the NBA without being extremely athletic.

    • @isaiahquidilla3153
      @isaiahquidilla3153 10 лет назад

      represent411 Athleticism is really overrated anyways. James White is one of the most athletic basketball player ever but was the farthest thing from a star player. Larry Bird is probably one of the least athletic NBA players ever but is a legend.

      I agree he's really 6'6" and definitely not a SF, he may not be a bust but he's not much of a pick. He probably couldn't stop anybody on the defensive end ad he plays for a defensive coach. He better get his butt ready for riding the pine
