      It's clearly his height, he's fucking 5'5(despite him being listed as 5'7), it's literally next to impossible to make it at that height unless you're a generational freak like Bogues and Spudd Webb which Newman is not. "He just doesn't know how to use his height", how df is he going to utilize being 5'7 when he's going up against 7 footers on HS prep teams like IMG. Height is a huge factor in basketball, some of the shortest players in the league are like 6'2 which is extremely tall. He has a terrible attitude and plays selfish but his height outweighs that problem

      @@Sam-oe4dt Clearly not as the next level considering the average in the NBA is 6'6. Newman is obviously better than the average player but when he plays against good competition such as his game against IMG playing guys that were all 6'8+ you see how he can't do jackshit due to his height. Unless you're ridiculously talented you aren't playing pro ball if you're less than 5'10 and you'll have almost 0 chance of making the NBA if you're under 6 feet tall. You're most likely incredible short and got offended by my comment, it's ok, I didn't make the comment with bad intentions I was just pointing out the obvious.

  • @Aadibass

    He's 12 years old... while he is INCREDIBLE now it's no guarantee that he will still be this amazing when he's 22.
    He has the skills and all the right tools and can undoubtedly become a dominating force in the NBA, but this is no guarantee for him not burning out or for other reasons stop progressing.
    The world is full of young talents who were expected to become world superstars, but didn't. They just got burned out before their career even really started.

      IK. He could’ve developed other aspects of the game, like… court vision so he can average a lot or assists or… maybe he could’ve tried stealing the ball like Muggsy. But the problem is his arrogant mentality, trying to ISO every damn play, because he thinks he is the only one that can score. If he wanted to make it to the league, he needed to focus on being a role player more than a superstar. Shame on him.

      +NewDay ya I live in boston and I see him play every year. The problem is, this kid does too much where as small point guards like Thomas and even guys like Iverson only do what they need to do. Before you say that Iverson was excessive with dribble moves, he used them because that's how he got to the basket and scored. This kid only stands at the 3 point line doing a bunch of unnecessary moves

    Very impressive stuff - especially the ball handling and footwork -, but as a high school coach I disagree with having him shoot 3s. He's got a low release, catapult type shot and that's due to shooting from too far away at too young an age. Now if he corrects that in a couple of years like Steph Curry did when he was growing up that will be fine, but habits like that can be VERY hard to break. I hope he develops into a good adult player who loves this beautiful game and doesn't burn out like so many young phenoms.

You might get a couple more inches but not much more. You're at an age when it should be fine to start doing plyometrics and some strength training if you want to improve more.

      Kayc Man we all know the reason why he moves that much, it's to put defenders on their heels so he can drive past them. But you don't need to jerk your body around to get past defenders, look at any point guard other than Westbrook and Rose, they don't use that kind of motion, because unless you're a freak athlete, which I'm not sure this kid is, you're gonna get hurt and shorten your basketball career. If you keep your rhythm with the ball smooth it's just as effective if you're as fast as this kid is

      You are thinking too much during a game , also when your training make sure you do everything game speed and make sure your tired I usually do shooting drills last when am out of energy that simulates the game because during a game when you shoot you are more then likely tired

      Here this is an opinion on what I do before games.
      1- I get a game ball Wilson, Spalding, THE ROCK, etc.
      2- I usually shoot in game shots of what I'm most likely to shoot and what the defender gives me
      3- Same form, same release, same target.
      I hope these tips work

    I HONESTLY wish the best for this kid. He definitely has the dedication and discipline to succeed in life no matter what he does. I hope he does make it to the NBA or beter yet be able to play basketball professional overseas if the NBA doesn't pan out. He btter hope he makes it 5'10 or 5'11 and has at least a 40 inch in 5 year though. But I will say this I don't understand what in the hell most of these drills have to do with in-game setting? That's the problem with most trainers today and why the NBA in terms of this generation has all the athletes but is lacking in truly skilled players. I'm trying to become a trainer but pretty much everything I teach will be based on in-game drills and the science of the game not shooting from 40 feet away and doing hop step dribble pull-ups from 30 feet away. What is he going to do when he comes up against a kid his age whose a PG but it 6'1 170 pounds from Chicago with a 35 inch vert? lol Nothing in this video will help him against traps or double teams or help him make decision once he get's past his man and heads to the lane when the defense collapses on him.

      I think what happens is that kids are trained in order to have the skills, whether they will be able to use those skills during the game or not is up to their talent or instinct and it's exactly what makes good players from great players.

    • @dy120481
      @dy120481 10 лет назад +1

      Couldn't agree more. Any goofball with wacky dribbling drills can call themselves a trainer, and while all that silly shit might look cool it has literally NOTHING to do with a basketball game. This kid spent this whole video basically dancing in place while dribbling, and he looked like a spastic kid while doing it. Physical maturity should make him more fluid, but these "drills" will always suck.

    • @jaysaget1280
      @jaysaget1280 10 лет назад +3

      Quincy McBride Every drill the kid's father had him run, was crucial to his in-game play. Holding the medicine ball in one hand while dribbling, mimics the pressure of the defensive player. Keeping the guard hand strong is very important to ball security. Placing cones at random spots, and making him dribble around them, at full speed, will help Julian's reaction time. Where ever a defensive player steps, he will instinctively get by it. And with shooting from a far...it's important for confidence. If I can make a 40 footer with ease, I will feel a lot more confident when practicing anything less. The proof is in the pudding; the kid's father created a beast. And I know people will assume I know nothing about what I'm talking about, but this summer coming, I will be taking my soon to be 12 year old nephew to every park and rec possible, so I can record him and his friends beating every team that accepts or offer the challenge. Julian's left hand is way quicker than my nephew's, but my nephew is faster and appears to be stronger. I will definitely use these drills.

  • @WWVND
    @WWVND 10 лет назад +8

    I would recruit this kid for his work ethic alone. You know this is the type of kid that isn't going to be out partying all night, cutting classes and not giving you 100% effort in practices. He would be like a Peyton Manning, watching game film when he isn't on the court physically trying to better himself.
