I bought this charger because Amazon could literally deliver it within 7 hours. It was 9pm on a Saturday night. Sure enough 4:15am and there it was. I’ve charged everything from riding mower batteries all the way up to deep cycle marine batteries and this thing performs very well. One of my most valued gadgets. $30 bucks well spent.
Simply the best, easy to use charger you can buy. Literally clamp the red clip to the red terminal, then black to black. Now, plug it in, and you are done. It is not fast, but what's the hurry? You plug it in after work, and by the next morning, the square light in the middle is either green (fully charged) or still red. If red, go to work, come home later, and plug it in again. By the next morning, the light is almost certainly green. If you don't drive a lot on weekends, plug this thing in Friday evening, and on Monday morning that little light will be green and your battery will feel brand new.
I liked this little charger so much, I purchased the Noco Genius 10 amp. I had to purchase a new motorcycle battery because the old one would not hold a charge, and so bought this 1 amp charger for my new lithium battery. For grins and giggles, I hooked up the 10 amp charger to my old defective 12V AGM motorcycle battery, put it on repair mode, and don’t ya know? It charged up fine. Ran it down to local auto parts store, they checked it out, ran a load test and PERFECT! Car has been sitting in my garage close to a year with dead battery. Hooked the NOCO 10amp, repair mode, few hours later…FIXED! Contacted NOCO and asked about warranty for their chargers bought on Amazon. No problem, it’s covered under warranty. YMMV, but I’m sold on them. Most I ever got out of Battery Tender was a couple years max, and have been through a few of them.
Yes, the company NOCO makes the best battery chargers! I was wondering how good their cheapest charger is, good to know it is very good as well. Thanks
I had a dead 200ah gel battery reading 3v. This charger got it up to 12v in a few hours and then I was able to put it on a 10 amp charger to get it to full capacity. Great charger.
@7:50 the reason you couldn’t select a mode is because there was nothing connected before you plugged in the charger. Instructions clearly state to make all your connections first, and then plug the charger in.
Apparently he couldn't read the instructions in the manual. I cut the video off right after that point ... hell, I could have done that on my own!!! Nope ... not following this guy ... forget it!!!
I connect it per instructions and it just flashes red and green for a few minutes then shuts off. Instructions Don’t even mention what that means. It tells you to press and hold for 3seconds. When I do that it goes to the next battery mode, which is wrong for me. They may think this one button set up is simple, but it’s confusing. I am now tempted to use another brand with separate on/off and mode selector buttons.
@@Prolificposter Which light is flashing red and which light is flashing green, and what type battery are you trying to charge? I have a power inverter that the battery sat too long. It only took 2 minutes for the Viking to recognize it. I put it in repair mode. The next day, the battery was up. Does a great job!
For future reference, you're supposed to connect the charger to the Battery BEFORE you plug in the AC Adapter, thats what it says to do in the manual anyway. And keep in mind this only charges at 15w 1Amp, so depending on the state of the battery it can take DAYS to charge the battery.
Be aware that a 1 amp battery charger is not optimal for a car or truck battery. It's more suited for a motorcycle. What it will do, is maintain the battery, so that it does not completely deplete. Keep in mind that all batteries have a service life. If that battery is at the end of it's useful life, no battery charger will renew it. No battery can last forever. If you have a motorcycle, car, or truck that you don't drive a lot, this device will be just right. Keep the battery plugged in between drives. If you have some old, dead battery; don't expect this device to make that battery new again. The other thing to note, is that while you may be able to charge a battery - that battery may not hold a charge. I've personally seen batteries reach a full charge state, only for it to rapidly deplete once placed into service.
Yep I had a 9 year old battery in my going to town pickup. Bought this maintainer and got a few more years out of the battery before it finally completely died and wouldn't take any charge
You have to have the battery hooked up to find the mode, this is a great little charger to maintain a battery if you don’t use it much , I bought it for one of my dirt bikes that I don’t ride much and got tired of buying a lithium battery every time I wanted to ride , this little charger is perfect for that
I’ll say, I used the genius 10 one time overnight to charge up a dead or near dead battery. It did work ok. But the negative clamp black plastic looked to be warped from heat. Or it was warped already from the factory. The clamps are ok, but I’ve seen better. The plastic seems flimsy and not attached to the copper clamp very sturdily. IMO they could have done better here.

It worked okay as long as I unplugged it for a few seconds every couple of days. I replaced it with my NOCO Genius 5 and it is okay for now, but I don't see a NOCO in my long term stand by charging future.
AGM batteries are designed to require 14.6v - 14.8v when performing a full charge from a state of discharge, whereas standard lead acid batteries need 13.8v - 14.4v, hence this is what most onboard chargers are designed to deliver - not the 14.6v - 14.8v that AGM requires.
You call this a review? I could have learned everything you said just by reading the instructions and using it. Is it a good product? Does it charge well? Did you test it on a dead battery? Why do you like or dislike it?
Yes. It is, after all a maintainer. They wouldn’t expect you to disconnect your battery from the vehicle every time you plugged it in to maintain the battery.
Hey there guys I was wondering if you can tell me about this charger. Is this supposed to be connected to the battery all the time or just until it gets fully charge? Even though the battery is connected to the motorcycle that has a camera and parking sensor which is on all the time
Good review, but if I bought a Noco charger it would be a Noco Genius 5 or 10 as it has a repair mode that sends 16 volt spikes to the battery to desulfate it. It is probably a defective battery you may want to de sulfate it. Drain exiting water, refill with clean distilled water and desulfate at least 2 times. Replace the water again. And then try to recharge.
@@kevinbhar9210 Gel batteries are basically sealed lead-acid batteries. They do not have to be maintained, but that also mean you can not try to replace the gel or water. Basically one damaged you can not fix them yourself.
Charger can't detect battery type. It's physically incabale of determining that since voltage is not an indicator and batteries don't have any digital bus to inform the charger of what they are.
That's mostly how it's used. I have an older car that during the winter seems to be struggling a bit. I used this charger, clamp the clips right to the battery under the hood, and in 36-48 hours the light turns green and the battery now starts the car with power to spare.
Why don't you read the manual before making the video. The reason it took so long is because the Noco Genius 1 is only a 1Amp charger. For a car battery you need the Genius 5. 🙄
How about the accessories? I have a Camaro that I never drive and would like easy connects so that I can leave it plugged in without having to use the clamps for the battery - do they have something like that?
I have a toy car in the back garage. It’s a model year 2000 with about 16k miles on it. Some years it doesn’t get driven at all. What I do is simply remove one of the cables from the battery post which I guess breaks the circuit and then just reconnect it when I want to drive. Mind that it’s a fair weather toy that only gets driven 3 season. I’ve never had it not fire up right away.
I need to move a car like 100 feet but it has a very dead battery. On a multimeter it reads .8 , will I be able to charge the battery with this charger, even if it doesn't last, just to move the car? I really don't want to buy a battery, just to get this car out of the way. Was going to try using this charger for 24hrs, and then use a jump pack to get it fired up. Just wondering if this battery is too shot to get any life out of it. Thanks for the vid
With a battery this close to dead, you will probably have to have the thing plugged in for 48 hours. But it should power the battery back up so that it can start the car, and you can move it the 100 ft. It's only $30, so that beats buying a new battery for sure.
💥💥 That little thing will charge a dead car battery.?? 🤟🏼 The biggest turn off is that it has the plug prongs on the back vs having a typical cable and prongs like most devices that plug into a wall or extension chord.

Mine didn’t come with instructions either, only a flyer
what is the diff between 12V and 12V AGM? i have ordinary battery of vespa, which mode will i choose
Agm ate sealed batteries. Agm do not have servicable opening / caps on top of the battery. Agm can not burp (let go off gas / air). 12v means traditional lead acid batteries.

thank you. so i will stick to 12v only, because i think my battery is just ordinary with life span of 2-3yrs
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS Thank you!
it would really helo if someone tells me how do I know kind of battery I have on my car?
Can this be used as a tender?
Yes this noco is a great battery tender
How do u know if u have a 12v or 12v agm battery?
It should be indicated on the battery.
Thanks for the video. If I'm not sure whether the 12v battery is AGM or not, does it matter whether I choose the regular 12v mode or the AGM mode to charge the battery? Thanks!
Most car batteries are agm no vehicle runs on lithium unless it's an EV
Either or will do just dont do lithium
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏
Will this work on my 2005 acura tl battery?
It will work on all batteries pretty much just slower. But shower is better with batteries actually
Nice review I just hooked up my new AGM ATV battery to my NOCO charge have this exact one. Hope it doesn’t take 48 hrs… Lol! TY for the review!
It might, this charges at 1 amp, which is very very slow. This is more or a maintainer than a charger... You can find better faster chargers for sure, this is just a very budget friendly quality maintainer
How long was it plugged in before the light came on
The light (some color) will show within 15 seconds or less.
Mines been on for 3 days. Still charging 😞
Its a 'trickle' charger. 1amp. If you want it faster get 4 6 or 8amps
Can this battery charger charge motorcycle battery
Yes it can charge your motorcycle battery, most motorcycles, cars, trucks batteries are just 12 volt batteries.
Thank you.
Great review, thanks
can anyone help? mine doesnt turn green led on , it did in the first month and never again, only flauctates on red, sometimes i find it turned off, can you help?
I connect it per instructions and it just flashes red and green for a few minutes then shuts off. Instructions Don’t even mention what that means. It tells you to press and hold for 3seconds. When I do that it goes to the next battery mode, which is wrong for me. They may think this one button set up is simple, but it’s confusing. I am now tempted to use another brand with separate on/off and mode selector buttons.
Which light is flashing red and which light is flashing green, and what type battery are you trying to charge? Sounds like you entered FORCE MODE by holding the down the MODE button for 5 seconds or longer, and then chose a mode (I.e. 12v, 12v AGM, Lithium). In FORCE MODE, the Charge Mode LED (item 1 in the NOCO manual diagram) and Charge LED (Item 5 in the diagram ) will alternately flash, indicating Force Mode is active. It might be shutting off because of a protective circuit, or the unit or something with the battery is defective.
Holding down the MODE button for 3 seconds is for one thing, and one thing only, and that is to enter 6V mode. You know you have done it right when the last LED on the right of the MODE row lights up white. It’s possible you have a defective unit. NOCO has a good warranty, and/or return it where you purchased it, or call or online chat. They are very helpful.
Is this a portable charger or does it have to be plugged in.
You have to plug it in a a outlet.
Today 24.95. Just opened mine 29.95 it ....tell u later
Wait! At 305 which was your hand?
... 😳.... 😝
i use noco genius 2 its work
I charged my battery for over a week and never got charged. What do you think is the problem?
It is probably a defective battery you may want to de sulfate it. Drain exiting water, refill with clean distilled water and desulfate at least 2 times. Replace the water again. And then try to recharge.
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS it is gel battery.
@@kevinbhar9210 Gel batteries are basically sealed lead-acid batteries. They do not have to be maintained, but that also mean you can not try to replace the gel or water. Basically one damaged you can not fix them yourself.
The charger will remember the last mode that was set.
Charger can't detect battery type. It's physically incabale of determining that since voltage is not an indicator and batteries don't have any digital bus to inform the charger of what they are.
It took so long to charge because it's only outputting 1 amp at 12 volts. It's not meant to fully charge any battery in one day...
Could you leave the battery in the car and use this device under the hood as a trickle charger?
That's mostly how it's used. I have an older car that during the winter seems to be struggling a bit. I used this charger, clamp the clips right to the battery under the hood, and in 36-48 hours the light turns green and the battery now starts the car with power to spare.
@@Ironfangzu did you run an extension cord out to the car for this device? I would need to run a 50’ extension cord to reach my car. Thx
So this model doesn’t “repair”?
No the NOCO 1 battery charger does not have REPAIR functionality.
A little more preparation and reading would have made this sound more professional.
Why don't you read the manual before making the video. The reason it took so long is because the Noco Genius 1 is only a 1Amp charger. For a car battery you need the Genius 5. 🙄
Your video helped me choose which battery charger to buy, useful! thanks
How about the accessories? I have a Camaro that I never drive and would like easy connects so that I can leave it plugged in without having to use the clamps for the battery - do they have something like that?
No.
@@Ironfangzu yes they do. I have it setup now like I stated.
6:10: "The alligator clip is pretty good, not like those Chinese cheap clip..." But, NOCOs are made in China!!😂
Says made in Vietnam on the box
Use your link and subscribed thanks!
Thank you for your support!
Read the manual before you make a video
Whos Manuel?
he’s doing an unboxing video
💥💥 That little thing will charge a dead car battery.?? 🤟🏼 The biggest turn off is that it has the plug prongs on the back vs having a typical cable and prongs like most devices that plug into a wall or extension chord.
No not s dead car battery. More like motorcycle, lawn mower etc
The 2 amp noco has what you want
Should you not read the instructions first?
I know how to get it out of the box tell me how to charge my car!
What’s Agm mean?
Absorbant Glass Mat
Good video but batteries can be sitting on the concrete floor
I've watched videos where they used deionized water to prep the battery before charging. Perhaps that's why it took you that long.
