This in my car, Bought it from the guy a few weeks ago. LOVE IT, the thing turns more heads than a mustang. The light was a fire suppression light, the reverse lights DO WORK there was just a switch on the trunk, CB and PA do work they were both wired up to cigarette lighter adapters and just had to be plugged in, this thing is my baby and it RIPS. It’s so fast and it’s a burnout machine. Highly recommend doing business with him to anybody looking for a car.
Hey this was my first car a couple years ago, there's even a video of it on my channel if you don't believe me. do you have an insta or anything I can follow the story of the car
Dude, I love your videos. I love that you bought this car. I love that you did rust repair, detailed it. You showed that car more love that its had in years. That kid is going to enjoy it!
Great video craig, gives the consumer a look at what work, expenses, taxes & profit margin there are to deal with. All deals don't come up as roses, so much to be learnt from vids like these. Well done Craig. ( Aussie John)...
Best car I ever owned was a P71 Crown Vic. It was black and white, retired from City of Mesa. Paid $1000, daily drove it for 5 years, then resold it for $500. Only thing I put into it was the "police interceptor" badge and 4 tires.
I’ve been in the car business for 25 years as a manager and throughout that time people I worked with tried to start used car lots and couldn’t swing it. I watch your videos and I respect what you do and it always talks me out of trying that myself lol. I watch all your videos
Agree. Any good customer if treated properly can be a potential customer for life if you treat them kindly, be honest, and be fair! Unfortunately every investment or car will not make a huge profit but that is business. I watch South Beach Classics and he does really well, he says you don't make money off the sale you make money off the purchase, if you get it at a low or fair market value than profit will be there when you sell..plus he said when he loses money on cars. he doesn't even care, he wins a majority of time but he said losing money isn't the worst thing and he embraces it...just means next person who bought it got a great deal and they can make a bigger profit potentially for their business.
I enjoyed that video, Craig! I think most of us who watch your content would rather see sub $20K, maybe 30 cars than exotics. For me, it's much more interesting to see a vehicle I could possibly afford than a Ferrari. I do enjoy all of your posts though. I appreciate the time you put in. I wear a navy & a black Flying Wheels t on the weekends. I think your followers appreciate your hard work.
I enjoy these videos...times are very hard financially for a lot of people, its a great affordable, reliable, safe car for the 17 year old. You are putting a car that most would overlook back on the road.. its a car that can help that kid get to a job or potentially college, so what may not be as valuable or a money maker for some it is a treasure and appreciated by that kid. You get a video out of it , dont make a ton of money whatsoever, but it shows that u do things for fun and spontaneously, that is a good approach to business!!! Everything doesnt have to be so serious everytime, sometimes its nice to get back to the foundation of what built your business and shows your grounded and didnt forget your roots. Its not a bad looking car plus you got to meet a subscriber that supports you and watches your videos...so there is value in that!! Plus any dollar that you make off something these days should be valued, times are real hard.
Right. That cash for clunkers deal took alot of cars that would have been affordable and/or first cars to the scrap yard. Doing this is like a public service. It's also better environmentally bc that car is already made. It's a win, win... win, maybe another win. Haha
Good on you. Well done, just shows you can save an old Police Car and pass it on. Now you have a new customer who will come back time and time again...
It runs and if you don't have transportation it is a treasure and has huge value for buyer! Get you to work, college etc...used cars are more expensive that new cars these days so 1800 was a fair price for the 17 yo kid! It is a great first starter car!! Gets you from point A to point B..that's all most people want and care about.
Light is for the rear fire suppression. With the issue of the exploding fuel tanks ford added the rear fire suppression. You likely have a bad module, very common and expensive.
I’m on my second retired squad car. It’s my winter beater. I buy them and don’t care about them but wind up driving the hell out of them and really liking them. Usually they are cheap and reliable, and last years. Good video.
500$ for a Crown Vic in 2024 is a steal ! There's also the fact that this car came with some performance goodies like the brake rotors. Great video & cheers !
Hey Craig, longtime watcher first time messanger. Just wanted to say thanks for the videos, cause I watch a lot of them lately. Ive had at least 60 cars growing up and in two days ill b 56. Shit how time flys. I started off working for car dealers when I was 16 so cars are my life. I don't know what you plan on doing in Florida, but I hope you keep putting out videos. Again thanks man. Brian Seattle, WA.
Craig, your content is perfect, real-life experiences from start to finish. It's perfect, and me being from central Florida and in a similar industry its interesting to see what appears to be a small town. All my friends down here do pretty much the same thing. Although In shorts and a tank top. Love the snow, prefer the sun.
Always enjoy your videos and "not a cop" was no exception. Glad you explained how much you really made. You are a good man Craig, keep up the good work.
Also that cluster isn’t a grand maqius cluster. Looks like that actually may be a crown Victoria one and that light on the bottom right may be from the fire suppression
I’m not sure why but we had a couple crown Vic patrol cars show up with grand marquis parts on them. I’m guessing they interchanged the parts knowing the fleet buyers would not care.
I'm super curious about what those seats are! I've got a Grand Marquis with those stupid benchy/bucket seats and yours are not factory seats for sure! Also that light on the dashboard, the weird wing light, is the fire suppression system that some Crown Victoria's had. That being a Grand Marquis with a crown vic cluster means it's likely looking for a connector that isn't there. Either way, cool video!
It's coming. Look at the toy market first. I flip boats and RV's and people are dumping their stuff they aren't using or can't afford payments on to free up cash. I'm finding some great deals
People are imagining the car market like the housing market. It is not that, in the history of cars in the US most people are negative in equality the first 3-5 years on a purchase. This is nothing new. But What has happened is that dealers are again giving price off MSRP and manufactures are giving incentives.
Not many people are underwater because not many people bought.. thats why the dealers had to overcharge because no one was buying.. people will stop house payments before car payments. House payments are the real money pit. Boats and rv are millionaires toys, anyone else buying them are just fools. Car prices are going down much … its inflation.. new prices will only go up and pull the used prices up with them. Yes there will be plenty of cheap ragged out junk but there is always that
Fun video. I prefer the hand-held, DIY quality over the hiring a film crew. It feels more honest as to who you are and what your business is. And you'll make more off of the video than the car so keep making the videos!
Made it to 1:28 and can tell you unless they swapped a lot it’s a plain Jane Grand Marquis. Dead give aways, keyless door pad, chrome trim on door handles, rear tail panel/filler panel (between taillights) small thin chrome strips on bumpers. I’ve owned well over 3 dozen of both the crown Vic’s (interceptor and civilian) and grand marquis from 95 thru 2010. Still a great car but nothing crazy special. I’d it were a Mercury marauder you’d definitely have something special!! Tell tail with those unless someone did some swapping is the center shift over the column shift.
We all started in cheap cars so , I love these cheap car videos . Reminds me how hard respectable flippers work on sleds . Say a solo week on that car 40 hrs , fluids and shop supplies 300 , vig for the house 100 , so you made 750 so after taxes you made 12.50 an hour it sucks some weeks 😅
I bought a 2003 Crown Vic Police Interceptor 12 years ago, had only 152K, but it was a clean detective car, looked like grandpas Vic with all the stock badgers and wheel covers, but it had all the cop goodies under the hood and drive train. I took off the wheel covers and added the center caps, took off the Crown Vic badge and added one that just said 'Interceptor", and did what is called a J Mod to the transmission which was a simple shift kit modify, and got rubber in all the gears. A beautiful well maintained car, not a city blaster abused cop car.
I like videos like this. All too often, I see people at auctions buying cars that are at least $3000 and higher and there isn't much work to be done to them get them on the road again. I used to flip abandon cars years ago. I didn't do it for profit. It was more of a hobby of mine. At one time, I had 15 cars in my collection. I often paid $50 to $100 for these cars and for the majority of them, they ran with just a few simple repairs. However, I sometimes broke even or even lost money on the cars I sold. Some cars are just not worth fixing even for $50. For example, one time I bought a 91 vw cabriolet. The auction couldn't find a bidder (these were all blind bids) so at the end of the auction, I was asked if I would be willing to buy it for $50 (minimum bid). They even had the key for it which most cars did not. It even started up! But the top had tears in it and it was water logged. When I tried to drive it off the lot, I found out that the drive shift was completely destroyed along with the wheel bearings. I replaced the drive shaft and the wheel bearing and the car was now drive able. Unfortunately, it had other problems. The power steering didn't work and discovered that the power steering rack was leaking, so replaced it with a rebuilt one. That was a nightmare of a job! After that, I discovered a leaking camshaft seal so I removed the head to replace it. I didn't bother to replace the top. I looked into replacing the one I had and it look like another nightmarish job. So I decided to stitch the tears and used "shoe goo" to make it rainproof. From afar, the repair wasn't noticeable. It took me several attempt to clean out the interior. Overall, the interior cleaned up nicely but the smell was something awful. Six months after I bought the car, I sold it for $500. I could have sold it for more but I had other projects to worry about. I didn't add up all my expenses, but the most expensive part I put on it was the power steering rack which costs about $130. Overall, it was a fun little car to drive but it wasn't my type of car. I hope the buyer didn't run the car into the ground like the previous owner did.
Having owned these cars since 1985, it looks like this car is a Grand Marquis with a Police Interceptor front end. The trim on the trunk is from a Grand Marquis, the taillights are aftermarket as is the spoiler. (The Gulf Coast Countries specification cars had a spoiler similar as did the Marauder.) The interior has the simulated leather seats and woodgrain that the Police Interceptor wouldn't have. Also, that speedometer has 140 MPH on it and looks to be a Police Interceptor unit. A Police Interceptor wouldn't have the color-keyed mirror covers; they would be flat black. I don't think the Police Interceptor has reading lights in the rear seat; criminals don't need them. IIRC the Police Interceptor has the 250 horsepower 2-valve engine. I would say it is an MGM. GREAT VIDEO!
I like these stupid cheap cars, and the weird oddball cars from the auction, lots of fun and quick turn around, low stress, much better than an 8 video series on one expensive car
I just paid $350 for my 03 Crown Vic with only 117k miles with lights and sirens that actually work and its black and white. The one problem was it sat for over a year at the Hemet maintanance yard and some mice moved in under the hood and damaged some wiring but I fixed all of that and am about to smog the car.
I'm pretty sure the one dash light that was on was for a fire suppression system that some Police Interceptors come with in case the vehicle gets rearended, to prevent the gas tank from combusting, catching the vehicle on fire. Either the fire suppression system was removed or used, making that light come on.
I dont think it was a cop car. Think dude just added a cb and brush guard to give it that look. I don't recall any departments running Grand Marquis. No spotlights, no plastic rear snd im pretty sure those doors will open from the inside as well. Still a cool looking car though, Good Find!
The CV plastic grille is cheaper than the GM one. I contend that the Mercury GM is the best traveling salesperson car of the last two decades. I had three of them. My last one was a 2008 with 400000 miles.
Craig, you forgot to add in fluids, and all the other shop supplies to get the car ready to sell. Also, where you are located, don't you a sticker to put on . I worked in West Virginia and the dealership had to inspect these cars that should be in a junkyard. Government sometimes is too much
@@carlgruver695I drove one from Boston to NYC filled up in Boston got to NYC did my stuff there and got halfway back on one tank they’re usually good for around 400 to 450 miles on a tank definitely not terrible on gas like people would assume
I'm curious. You mentioned "costs" associated. I didn't hear the cost of getting the car home from the auction. Fuel? Time? Was that figured into "overhead"? Thank you.
I work at a car dealership (finance manager) I go to Adesa & Manheim auctions and flip cars on the side. I can literally double the price on Craigslist/Offer up. Been doing it for a decade +. I pay my mortgage just off flipping cars. 💯
Hey I would love you to find a beater and put an Audi motor in it. How about $1000 challenge to get the ultimate cool SUV for the family? Maybe a Lamb. Urus?
Wow You we’re masterful at explaining the deal and the overhead and the tax altogether you made not much money. But I watch your videos and I’m learning about used car sales. I would like to obtain a grand marquee in good condition even with 220,000 miles. I’ve tried Facebook marketplace and Craigslist but I don’t find anything even remotely nice.
My fave vids are you just buying fixing cleaning and selling cars. Also auctions.

Do u not think we are entering the market of affordable cars, since a lot of the people are gonna lose their cars to repos.
I think we are getting into cheaper cars because no one can afford new cars

It also has front seats from what looks like a 04+ Pontiac Grand Prix.
The "valves over fire" light is the fire supression system i believe.

Whatttt you have a drift car?!? So neat! The panther would go good to the drift community. Some people like the panther.
love the new special affects.....nice entranining.
I dont think it was a cop car. Think dude just added a cb and brush guard to give it that look. I don't recall any departments running Grand Marquis. No spotlights, no plastic rear snd im pretty sure those doors will open from the inside as well. Still a cool looking car though, Good Find!
Eye opening! Thanks, Craig!
The CV plastic grille is cheaper than the GM one. I contend that the Mercury GM is the best traveling salesperson car of the last two decades. I had three of them. My last one was a 2008 with 400000 miles.
Good video. Just like the old days. Great content
Craig, you forgot to add in fluids, and all the other shop supplies to get the car ready to sell. Also, where you are located, don't you a sticker to put on . I worked in West Virginia and the dealership had to inspect these cars that should be in a junkyard. Government sometimes is too much
I love the grand Marquis I have a red one my nephew has it right now.
I like the $500 cheap car videos. Who would buy this thing though? It’s an old ford that waste so much gas
Those cars do better on fuel than you think I heaved own 3 of them they all got 21 city 30 on highway
@@carlgruver695I drove one from Boston to NYC filled up in Boston got to NYC did my stuff there and got halfway back on one tank they’re usually good for around 400 to 450 miles on a tank definitely not terrible on gas like people would assume
They actually get 20-24 mpg not bad I have a nice 2004.
4.6 Liter is a great motor, I have 236,000 on my 08 Mustang, runs great still
My brother in law would pay $3k for that car all day. It's actually a really nice car, and there's lots of people that love those cars.
Subbed for the honesty.
It's a great first car. Crown vic are a tank hard too kill. Take care of that one he can get a year or 2 out of it.
Can you send details of your trailer and did it come like that or did you build wall in front?
I'm curious. You mentioned "costs" associated. I didn't hear the cost of getting the car home from the auction. Fuel? Time? Was that figured into "overhead"? Thank you.
Fixing that exhaust must have cost something. Always enjoy you're videos..
I work at a car dealership (finance manager) I go to Adesa & Manheim auctions and flip cars on the side. I can literally double the price on Craigslist/Offer up. Been doing it for a decade +. I pay my mortgage just off flipping cars. 💯
Love your videos!
You forgot to add $20 pushing the other car onto the trailer so you really made $195.
Maybe I missed it, but did you include the in-house shipping cost from the auction to your facility?
The best thing about the Vic/Marq is that you made some young kid that will have a ball with it and then trash it. (after taking the stang wheels)
Hey I would love you to find a beater and put an Audi motor in it. How about $1000 challenge to get the ultimate cool SUV for the family? Maybe a Lamb. Urus?
Love ur content sir❤❤
Wow You we’re masterful at explaining the deal and the overhead and the tax altogether you made not much money. But I watch your videos and I’m learning about used car sales.
I would like to obtain a grand marquee in good condition even with 220,000 miles. I’ve tried Facebook marketplace and Craigslist but I don’t find anything even remotely nice.
