Making this now. Not in the mood to chop so the simplicity of the recipe is helpful. I made this before following your recipe and it was delicious. Your basic recipes are a very helpful guide when trying to eat healthy. Thanks, love your channel.
This looks fantastic! This is going on my list of things to try - soon! Thank you for making a point to let people know they need to remove the bay leaves. Someone I know ended up in a hospital for two weeks because he ate a bay leaf and it got stuck in his intestine. It was a crazy situation, it actually paralyzed him from the waste down. He was okay after it was out of his system.
I'm in Australia and we have multi-cookers like yours. We have the old stove top pressure cooker but I've wanted to get one of the electric ones that does pressure cooking as well as slow cooking etc. So we got one a few weeks ago and were trying to decide what our first recipe to try would be. Wanted something simple. I watched your video and decided we'd do your split pea soup (modified as we don't like hot and spicy!). Made it following your general info video and it came out perfect! Yum. Thick and delicious.
Thanks to you, Plant Based Gabriel, I can now make Split Pea Soup. Before, I could never get the split peas to cook right, they kept coming out crunchy - yuck! So thank you!! Also, love this recipe, it is so good and definitely easy.
Just a heads up, you say to set it to venting instead of sealing. Of course I know what you meant, I wasn’t sure if you wanted to edit it with some text or not. As always amazing recipe, I never have enough instant pot recipes and love all of yours!
Hey Janine! I found them at TJ Maxx, and I have actually seen them at a few different of their stores (although there is never a guarantee that a particular store will have them)
Yum, one of my favorite soups! I will be making this. Without the jalapeño. Lol! What size is your instant pot? I have a 3 quart, wondering how to cut this recipe down?
Very. Jalapenos can vary a lot on spice level too. Could be anywhere from hot to holy crap. 3 that size seems aggressive. 1 would still give the flavor and not be hot at all. If you like Poblano peppers I think they would be a lot better flavor wise in a pea soup. They are a lot bigger tho, but to me Jalapeno seems like a contrasting flavor. A couple Poblano peppers wouldn't add much heat, but they would add a lot of yummy pepper flavor.
I'm the only one in the house...looks like you have enough for a family of six. I will search the web to see how much peas, water, etc., for a one-man show?

I’m sold on the simplicity of your recipes!
Hahaha "well no, cause it's not gonna have dead animal in it" I literally laughed out loud. Each video just keeps getting better!
haha! I am glad someone caught that!
Just put this together for our dinner. Haven’t had one meal from PBG that we haven’t been nuts over.
Can’t wait to try it!
good job - your enthusiasm is infectious!

PS in our pressure cooker, we add the bay leaves last.

The soup sounds delicious, but where did you get those nifty small bowls that you had your spices in?
Hey Janine! I found them at TJ Maxx, and I have actually seen them at a few different of their stores (although there is never a guarantee that a particular store will have them)
The written instructions link leads to a dead page. Are there printable instructions anywhere else?
Wow this is from 3 years back lol. Well thx anyways I’m making this today in MY Instant Pot 😁
I made it and I lovit!!! You taught me how to cook tasty food without using salt 🧂😁
Do you still have your website running? Ive tried a few times and nada😢
Can you substitute something for the jalapeño?
Yum, one of my favorite soups! I will be making this. Without the jalapeño. Lol! What size is your instant pot? I have a 3 quart, wondering how to cut this recipe down?
I have a 6 qt so halving the recipe should work perfect for you! :)
Plant Based Gabriel great! Thank you! I’ll be picking up the split peas tomorrow! Can’t wait! 😋
Amazing 😋 Has anyone tried halving the recipe? I’m thinking that should still put enough liquid in the instant pot....
Place it on Venting? At the beginning?
It is our gujarati dal if it would be added with 70 gram curd and stir well.
Will it be spicy with those peppers

If the jalapenos are hard to handle with being so hot how does a person be able to remove the seeds from them?
If I half the recipe, would I need to half the liquid? Thanks
Yes, you will half the all of the ingredients including water, but
same cooking time.
How many pounds of beans? I have a 8 quart
you are not real clear on what setting you are cooking on in IP. You could always take a close shot with your camera.
Manuel setting he said for 25 minutes. But his print out on his website says 30 minutes.
Is this the same recipe as your other split pea video with your wife?
Welp I know now. Hahaha
@@wfpb4-life130 :)
It looks good but way too spicy.
I'm the only one in the house...looks like you have enough for a family of six. I will search the web to see how much peas, water, etc., for a one-man show?
He used 2 cups of water for one cup of split peas... In this recipe, 5 cups of split peas and 10 cups of water.
I'm not vegan but i've never heard of people putting ham in split pea soup? Is that like a normal thing? Lmao. That sounds bizarre to me.
