Song: *starts* 5 seconds in
lol
Ryan: Bro we gotta go back
twice
Been jamming this album since it came out and I can honestly say I do the same every time.
The end of this song IS the beginning of the next song, "Vacuity". The ending is also a track being played backwards, so great ear.
wanted to write this, comment need a pin :)
It's esoteric surgery (acoustic) played backwards!!
@@WishMount and it's used in the outro of Art of Dying as well
It’s just a simpler clean guitar version of the intro riff of Esoteric Surgery. It also appears on the end of The Art Of Dying
how do u even say vacuity cause i still find it hard
Shout-out to George and Ryan for doing their thing for so long.
Yeah man, going on 2-3 years now
@@zacharykim295 almost 4 now, I remember their firsts reactions in 2017
Agreed! They are great, fun, and bad-ass. 😎💯
Lol I remember when they posted the Enter Sandman reaction and it was their “experiment into heavy metal” 🤣 been subscribed and loving it ever since🤘🔥
Their war pigs reaction back in 2017 was the first video I have watched from them. Since then I was hooked!
Guys, it's ok to focus on the drumming as much as you do. Mario is widely praised as one of the best drummers in the world (not just metal too, just in general) and a lot of Gojira songs are quite literally built to empower his drum patterns. He went to a fairly prestige jazz drum school and was known as a prodigy and a perfectionist from a young age. Aside from Gojira, him and Joe also had a really underrated jazz fusion/metal band in the early 00s that is also a good showcase for his craft and versatility
What's that other banf called?

@@darko1295 thanks homie

Wow impressive 🤔😮
I feel like it flows much better when Art of Dying - Esoteric Surgery - Vacuity are all played back to back
Vacuity is my shit
@@spenceryelinek4313 Ditto!
All bangers
Vacuity is the song that got me into Gojira.
It could be argued that The Art of Dying is their best song.
When you explain what you mean by “nasty” trust me, we understand. Most metal heads will describe really awesome riffs, vocals, songs as being sick, disgusting, gross, dirty, etc. so you good lol
I just got into Gojira. I am going through that feeling of being blown away like when you first heard Metallica in the 80s.
Just so you know.. I’m in about four years deep and I still feel that way.. listen to them every day, and discover something new almost every time. Enjoy the deep dive.
You are in for a really good ride my friend!
Same here. Just like they say, just when you think the song can get any nasty, it goes nastier, that shit and the groove blowed me away. Coming from groove metal, I needed something fresh but heavy and groovy at the same time. Gojira had it all.
Good to hear my friend! I've been going deep on Gojira recently as well. I listened to The Link years back and some other random songs over the years, just casually. Not really a fan of the "death metal" stereotype or other bands that are often categorized that way, but after discovering Magma I couldn't deny or avoid their unique mastery and am an eternal fan now. I personally kind of approach their style as a "picking up the torch" from Pantera and infusing it with a bit more depth, thoughtfulness and melodically driven progress but all the nastiness and cathartic powerful anger that great "metal" deserves. In my honest opinion. So excited to see them next spring with Deftones!
Welcome! I call this band life metal with a death metal sound. They are technical and groove in the heaviest way. Thoughtful lyrics and full band effort every album.
The biggest tragedy is that we will never see George's unbiased reaction to that mean chorus in Toxic Garbage Island
OMG WE NEED IT
@@Kai_O_Cad at 3:05 they added the note that they've heard Toxic Garbage Island before and thus can't do a reaction video
And the ending of Backbone
Plaaastic bag in the sea 🌊
I've always found the song structure of opening high intensity and ending sort of more calming to be deliberate in its craft. The esoteric surgery being unlearning and cutting out the toxic stuff humans hold onto. At first the song is brute force and fury. Through healing, time, and a lot of work the song reflects the peace of mind discovered in its sound. Obviously super subjective.
This whole album is just fucking insane drumming wise. FMTS has their best melodies and is overall my favorite of theirs, but WOAF is next level in the drumming department. It’s not just super difficult, it’s more than anything just crazy memorable.
It's pure masterpiece spreading a feelong wich is not possible to explain. Like standing on a fucking mountain, wind blowing and a huge army marching behind... WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
S/o to all of the free thinkers out there. Glad y'all are jumping back into Gojira reaction videos. I can't wait to check them out on their tour.

They were disgusting at Louder Than Life last weekend. Man, they always put on a good show.
They put on amazing shows. One of the few metal shows I've ever been to where I was torn between fucking shit up in the pit and watching the absolutely psychotic light show. Their stage presence is fantastic too.
About the mellow ending, on the album that same ending is played on the previous track The art of Dying. So in a way it is both at the end and start of Esoteric Surgery if you listen to both tracks back-to-back.
By the way, it's the main riff of Esoteric Surgery reversed
Isn't it played at the end of every song on the album?
@@georgewootten4428 just in the art of dying and esoteric surgery, I believe
@@TheAskald I just checked, it's on Oroboros, Art of Dying, Esoteric Surgery, and there's something similar to it on Wolf Down The Earth
@@georgewootten4428 yeah Oroborus and Wolf Down The Earth have light outros as well, just not the esoteric surgery riff
@Lost in Vegas -- Next DEFINITELY needs to be Vacuity, that song fuckin chugs soooo hard, you guys would love it.
Whole album is so good
Whenever I listen to Vacuity I get this visual of a bunch of Vikings rowing their balls off through a storm.
Vacuity was the first Gojira song I ever heard, have been hooked ever sense.
I second that. It has all the elements the guys love
Vacuity is my hype song for interviews.
The ending is a beginning to the next track, which is Vacuity. Such a miss that you guys didn't do the two songs together.
Fun fact: This is actually the one song Gojira said they won't perform in concert as it's too demanding and therefore the reason why they don't play The Way Of All Flesh in full.
IIRC “Global warming” is on that list as well. I can’t imagine doing that tapping for several minutes straight, mid-show.
@@mtgguiltfeeder4111 they did the Global warming live studio video for that reason, people wanted it live and they explained how hard it was to do it
@@mtgguiltfeeder4111 I'm pretty sure they said they won't play Global warming live because it's a pretty sad song, and that's not precisely the vibes they want to put out in their shows.
@@Andre232323232332323 it’s like ~ 7minutes of straight tapping. Sad or not, it’s a tough song to pull off timing-wise and I’m sure it’s exhausting as hell.
Pretty sure they haven't done Wolf Down the Earth live either, which sucks (it's their best song imo).
Art of Dying - Esoteric Surgery - Vacuity - Wolf down the Earth is the best stretch on any of the Gojira albums, in my opinion
Oh snap another Lost in Vegas Gojira reaction! That’s why I subscribed in the first place lol
I think lots of gojira fans subbed for that, their reviews are some of the few that have genuine feeling. Also they've made a lot of people into gojira fans from their reviews.
I've been following you guys for a few years now, and as a long time metal guy and. GOJIRA fan, the passion with which you fellas speak of music is so engaging and just fun to watch. Love the tunes, love your thoughts and the channel. Keep em coming!!
You have GOT to do Vacuity immediately after this one, that ending transitions straight into it, and it’s the heaviest song on the album
Here's my vote for either 'Planned Obsolescence' or 'This Emptiness' off the 'Le'Enfant Sauvage' album. Hugely underrated deep cuts.
One of the best Gojira's album
the best imo followed by "from mars..." and then "l'enfant sauvage".

Gojira new found from the new album would be a great reaction
My favourite song on the album. I’ve listened to it 316 times so far 🙃
Gotta love the end of ‘Grind’ though. Beautiful outtro.
Unfortunately, the record label keeps taking down reactions to anything Fortitude. A handful of RUclipsrs contested it and won, but that's rare.
This song gets you in a really nice series of heavy grooves. One of their best hidden gems in the catalogue🤘
my favorite of theirs. The lyrics are really good, too!
Beginning kind of reminds me of the power of I and I by shadows fall
What the song speaks about is that when you heal your inner self, your soul, your consciousness, then your physical matter follows along. All health problems start internally in one's mind.
Gojira - Love
If y'all are gonna do stuff from the newest album, ya gotta jam Sphinx. Such a beautiful marriage of heaviness and groove.
They just did
Took em a year but I knew they'd love it
I'm voting for Vacuity or Sphinx next!
New found too bro. Hold on too
I wish I could properly express the amount of gratitude I have for you guys, for allowing us to see all your musical discoveries. Still my favorite channel since day 1. Keep em coming, guys. 💪
I say that i am a Gojira fan... but then i have missed songs like this from them... i disappoint myself... i really have to go back and listen to every track... this song when to the top 3 greatest gojira sing there is... my gaaad!
The Way of All Flesh, the title track to this album, is an amazing track a lot of people seem to overlook too.
And don’t forget Wolf Down the Earth, another brutal track on the album
It’s funny that Ryan talks about the whole “inverse” thing for the ending of this song, because even though he was talking about just switching the ending and beginning, in this context if u take the ending of this song and The Art Of Dying, and play them in reverse, it’s the melody to the riff of Esoteric Surgery. U can find them on RUclips of those 2 endings and Wolf Down The Earth ending being played in reverse
I’m always here when you’re back on Gojira. You guys are a joy to watch when you hear one of their songs for the first time.
That first galloping riff, like Disposable Heroes by Metallica is freaking incredible!!
Vacuity is my favorite song from this album. Sometimes with their albums, like with this song, you need to listen to the next song right away. They lead into each other very well. They make those lulls in songs to give a sorta break before beating you over the head with more heavy in the next song lol
Vacuity kicks ass. its so different from their other songs. Just a long droning heavy, dark sound.
Imo gojira’s greatest album, an absolute masterpiece.
Yes, this👍🏻👍🏻
Agreed!!!
It’s the album that sealed the deal for me. That being the deal that they were here to stay. In my ears and head for life, they are here to stay.
Super track. A lot of good wisdom in many songs by Gojira. The power to heal yourself, even more a reality in the fifth dimension.
This songs has always been one of the best of "the way of all flesh", just an absolute banger
To me, as a french fan, this song is a pure masterpiece. Never found a bigger banger than that. Make me mad each time i listen to it
If you notice the drums more, then talk about the drums more, it's all good. There's a reason people consider a band's drummer to be the backbone of all bands, from Jazz to Technical Death Metal. I've been a guitarist and singer for over 15 years but I always take heed to the drum-work over other roles in any new band I listen to. It's the main part of any music that gets us moving to the jam bruh :)
Mario is the back'fuckin'bone!
same like chris adler as well, i miss Lamb of God with him.
I can't believe I've been watching ya'll for 4 years now! Ever since the Holy Wars video. Keep up the great work guys and thank you!
Can't wait to see you react to Gojira at the Olympic ceremony.
Gojira, Clone or Lizard Skin, from Terra Incognita...It's a pretty different version of Gojira, More..."Groovier"
Don't forget Space Time!!
@@proletariatbourgeoisie9929 Spacetime is still in my top 3 Gojira songs to this day. I'd love to know what they would think of it.
I can't get enough of you guys being absolutely hyped for a song. It's so cool to see how you guys legitimately ENJOY music.
Guys. PLEASE do vacuity. The ending to this flows into it and it's my favorite Gojira track. I know you'll love it.
It's always great when you two really enjoy and have a blast listening to a track \m/
I’m so glad you guys did this song! I requested this a few years ago and have been holding out hope to get the chance to hear the song for the first time again through your ears. This track is my favorite off The Way Of All Flesh.
Not sure I’ve ever clicked on a video so quick. Love the Gojira reactions as always guys!
Love you guys are going back to gojira but would love some reactions off the new album. Some bangers there. Amazonia, New Found, Grind are all great along with a couple others. Appreciate your work guys.
I'm the opposite. I'd rather them just keep doing old bangers.
I detest the new album because it makes me sad that they lost their spark.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this for so long! I knew Ryan would love this shit! The main riff is insane. I’m surprised you guys haven’t reacted to this before! You guys absolutely have to react proper to “wolf down the earth”!! Much love and peace 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Yes thank you. Vacuity next??
My friend is the LD for Gojira. We actually met at the Vegas show y’all went to!
i love your excitement, this song gets me every time (for many years now)!
I don't always watch your guys reactions but everytime I see GOJIRA I watch. Love seeing the reaction to Gojira songs 🤘🤘
The Way Of All Flesh, the title track or New Found from the new album!
Thank you for this reaction. You guys made Gojira click for me! Going back through all your older vids to discover their other stuff.
I remember your very first gojira video and how you guys just went insane. These videos never disappoint!
You gotta check out Adoration For None off the same album. It's got guest vocals from Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe and has one particularly *insane* breakdown!
I cant believe yall finally did this!
Maddeningly great album! So fun! Cheers and thanks, Lost in Vegas!
I love these guys so much, I honestly let the ads run all the way thru so you get the revenue. You always bring a smile to my face, thank you!
This was an automatic click for me. Definitely one of me absolute faves from gojira, and getting to enjoy you fellas geeking out to it was fantastic.
Finally some GOJIRA
Vacuity is probably my favorite off the album. So simple yet so beefy with the droning guitars
The DuPlantier brothers are generational talents. The X Factor someone like Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell have. Mind blowing
This is such a great song! I'm really looking forward to your reactions to the new album. It's fucking awesome!
I frigging LIVE for your Gojira reactions 🤘🏻🖤
Don’t forget about ‘Clone’ off of their first album. Old school Gojira but you can feel it as an early footstep to where they are now. Masterpiece.
The ending part of the song is a transition to "Vacuity" but props for noticing that!
Snot! I’d love to see that reaction. Such a great album from those guys. Get Some! RIP Linn Straight.
I requested on IG. I really hope they give them a chance. I think the name scared them off.
When the song starts it makes you feel desperate and frenetic, then the song evolves and takes you to a lighter place, when you can experience the healing and finally be in peace with yourself. Also, this is one of the most important songs for drumming in my opinion.
This is my favorite song of theirs. Hands down.
Same!
This turned me onto them, but man... L'Enfante Sauvage is killer
'Course. Always back to Esoteric surgery. Still amazing
Oh man my favourite Gojira song! Great stuff guys as always from you legends
Geroge's face at 7:16 is the appropriate reaction.
Mannnnn I was the FIRST to request this track when yall first discovered them & everyone was requesting the singles lol. Omg a 3rd restart. 🤣🔥🤘
One thing they have to see from Gojira is the extended live version from Pray played at Red Rocks.
I never thought a Band could play this level this perfect on Stage 🏅🏅🏅
So glad you guys finally did this song!!!
Enjoy the channel guys, been watching for awhile. Seeing Gojira in OKC in a couple weeks!
i love watchin y'all listen to this. this is one of my favorite gojira songs. i've been meaning to watch these videos for years because they keep getting suggested to me ( on my main channel ) but y'all are great and i love what you do. thanks for breaking everything down and explaining the technical aspects for what make this song so powerful. the message is what drew me into this band but the instrumentation of these talented dudes is what keeps me coming back.
shout out to all the other blk metalheads out there man! i'm there and i see y'all
Finally! My favorite Gojira song! Awesome reaction as always, gents!
NICE! you guys finally got to this gem! The song "the way of all flesh" on this album is great as well.
