Kyuss - Gardenia King Crimson - Starless - In the court of the Crimson King Neil Young - Cortez the Killer Pantera - I'm broken (too much Gojira and just one Pantera's theme)
I think Pantera is a band that unfortunately didn't age so well. When I listen to them today, it sounds so juvenile and egocentric, their aggression so angst-ridden. Everything is so "look-how-I'm-better-than you" in their music. Partially I feel that because of Gojira. They are somewhat similar in their sound but much more to say, both musically and lyrically.
Gojira is such a good example of well arranged (produced as well) songs. In a sense it takes on pop music philosophy without getting into the superficial. There are subtle changes every X number of bars, with tiny changes when sections repeat. Melodies are memorable, hooks are combos of band riffing such as the wave of trains and sledgehammers that become the main parts during the verses. Groups of patterns with different sounds, where each note is comprised of attack, differing pitches, differing distortions, according to the instrument, differing kinds of sustains for every hit between each instruments, and a well-placed melody that rides the 8th dimensional waves of what the instruments are doing. Well chosen reverbs and delays will be the sweet glue that thickens and binds it all together. Jealous of you guys, I hope you will have enjoyed the show.
"They sound like themselves!" That's simultaneously the greatest compliment and the emptiest description of someone's work :D On the one hand, it says nothing about what they're like; on the other hand, that's what so many artists try to achieve. Well, at least the ones who aren't entirely in it for the money and are just complacent doing the same as everyone else as long as they're getting paid? Also - belated congarats on getting invited to that Gojira gig! Got into your channel from a mention on Gojira's Facebook page. Haven't always agreed with your judgings on various bands - but hey, you've had some fine words for bands I'm not at all fond of, and you've shown some music I'd otherwise not have any chance getting into (since all my hip-hop aficionado friends are currently living in another country).
I was actually at the Gojira concert in vegas this last friday and was I the VIP to meet the band (I was attending EVO for the weekend) and actually saw the both of you leaving after meeting the band. I was in a state of euphoria during the whole concert and it is something I will never forget.
To answer the drumming question, there are tons of factors. You can tune drums to have a heavier feel, you can buy certain brands of drums that can have different sounds. But for gojira it may be a combination of all of those but it's Mario's skill and the intensity he plays at is what gives the drums such a unique sound and heaviness. By far one of the greatest drummers of all time
@@plazmamasta193 I’m not a big fan of constant blast beats, but it not easy to play at that speed at all, and he does make it look easy so I’ll give him that

I went to see them in Birmingham, England on a Saturday night. They honestly blew me away, so I went straight online, bought tickets and went see them in Manchester 2 nights after. You will love them!!!! Great channel guys!!!
Gojira are so fantastically unique, they are kinda a totally new form of melodic death metal with a very heavy progressive eye. I got to see them perform the entire from Mars to Sirius album and it was life changing, they are artists that have reached a level few ever do tool opeth porcupine tree and maybe insomnium are the only bands I would put on the same plateau.

First some black metal with teeth. Emperor or ihsahn's solo stuff. Or darkthrone. Getting older is great with darkthrone in your life: it means you've had the chance to listen to more darkthrone. Just like maiden...
Please post an in depth review of seeing them live. I'm dying to see what you guys thought. Not only are they the best band to see live but they are one of the first bands you have seen live in the metal genre. Let's get it Free Thinkers!!!
When it comes to drumming, you have to consider, is it a live recording, or studio recorded. There are several factors when getting a specific tone out of your drums: -Type of drum(shell material) -Size of the drum( circumference) - Size of the drumstick - Type Of drum heads used - How you Mic the drums - The player, of course..
Totally right, I probably wouldn't have started listening to Gojira without Lost In Vegas. I had heard them but couldn't get into it...you guys brought them another chance, and here we all are.
I’d love to see an album reaction. Gojira has great songs that can stand alone, but to really appreciate the music, you gotta experience a full album. Some bands just need that kind of attention.
I have listened to metal for a looong time but if it wasn't for your reactions to Gojira, I wouldn't know who they are. I've seen it on your other videos but the studio live version of Gojira's Global Warming neeeeeds to happen! Love from Australia!
Love watching you guys progress through your metal journey. It's like a bit of a time machine watching your reactions because I had the same ones over the past 2.5 decades. You"ll have endless great metal to listen to for the years to come! Cheers
Sadly they won't listen to any Pantera song anymore... I've tried so long and they're missing out big time. Pantera is one of the greats! > the big four
Drums have different depths, diameter, skin materials, tightness. And the drummers use different weight and material sticks and also how the hold them and strike with different attacks. A drummer has all sorts of ways to achieve their desired sound and intensity, but there's genius in the conception and the execution that makes some drummers epic legends
So happy for you guys! I started watching this channel because of reactions of Gojira and now you about to see their show! I've watched several times the reactions (and requested a lot hahaha) because here in Brazil is really hard to find someone who likes this band. That's awesome you gentlemen were there. It was the greatest show of my life, came from Amarillo, TX with 3 others for the show and to hang in Vegas a few days!! Thank you gentlemen for covering this style of music!!
"Remembrance" by gojira is an amazing groovy/trance song
Haha iono if they ready yet
the shooting star tooooooo.
Kyuss - Gardenia
King Crimson - Starless - In the court of the Crimson King
Neil Young - Cortez the Killer
Pantera - I'm broken (too much Gojira and just one Pantera's theme)
Sadly they won't listen to Pantera because of all the "whitepower" stuff with Phil...
Ooh Whitewater, Demon Cleaner, One Inch Man, Green Machine, and Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop are great Kyuss tracks for them to check out as well.
Clearly you guys don't know much about Pantera then...
Enjoy Gojira concert lads! One of the best live bands ever! Also - please react to Devin Townsend - Deadhead (Royal Albert Hall) 🤘🤘
Such a good tune, but still no Gift of Guilt reaction! Missing out guys, absolute masterpiece.
A certain live version
K9 Rootless this man knows!
@@dudee499 Both studio and Brixton Academy are some of the best shit to come out in the metal genre in years.
George has already listen to that song
I love the fact George and Ryan have constant stinkface when the song is playing
Tool - Vicarious

@@goaltotroll4241 lmao , hope this the 3rd time you do it
Another song that would be really interesting is "Polyphia - G.O.A.T."
Hell yeah
100% on board. That would make an amazing video!
This ^
absolutely agreed
They'd fall in love with the rhythmic riffs, killer licks, and heavy groove.
New Levels New Devils is on a different level.
"They sound like themselves!" That's simultaneously the greatest compliment and the emptiest description of someone's work :D
On the one hand, it says nothing about what they're like; on the other hand, that's what so many artists try to achieve.
F**king Drumkit 10,000 :D :D You guys are killing me! Thanks for all the vids so far, looking forward to more!
I was actually at the Gojira concert in vegas this last friday and was I the VIP to meet the band (I was attending EVO for the weekend) and actually saw the both of you leaving after meeting the band. I was in a state of euphoria during the whole concert and it is something I will never forget.
Mario is an amazing drummer with an amazing set. He does drum his own way as well.
I didn't know about this band , I'm going get some of that Gojira stuff , sounds great .
Awesome catalog!
roman brandle My favorite album is The Way of All Flesh, but I haven’t heard a bad song from them. Just jump in and enjoy.
Life changing
Not some. Get all. Cuz all of it is fire.
By far one of the greatest drummers of all time
Agreed. I consider Gojira's Mario Duplantier and Meshuggah's Tomas Haake to be the greatest drummers of all time.
Absolutely! And especially in metal, one of the best metal drummers today
@@jesswise8680 what about aaron Kitcher?
@@plazmamasta193 I’m not a big fan of constant blast beats, but it not easy to play at that speed at all, and he does make it look easy so I’ll give him that
I saw Gojira in concert last night! you guys are in for a treat!! amazing live band! They played this song last night!!
I'm an old-school metal head (40) and I do always recommend this band to my students (some)...!!!
Your a badass teacher then
Death is king!
Power Trip - Divine Apprehension
Power Trip - Hornet’s Nest
Power Trip - Crucifixation
The saga continues...and also yes on Gojira!!!
Swing of the ax has to 1st above all!!! That song is the hook!
Chimaira - Power Trip
You have to review Oroborus ... such a masterpiece by Gojira
+1
🤘🤘🤘
Agreed! Great song!
Gojira - Where dragons dwell next bros
...Except it's gotta be the live video version of that song that Gojira published on their RUclips channel. So brutal, but so artistic at the same time.
joe6428856 Yes! Hellfest 2013!
You guys got featured on Gojiras Instagram! Keep up the great reactions and positivity!
I went to see them in Birmingham, England on a Saturday night. They honestly blew me away, so I went straight online, bought tickets and went see them in Manchester 2 nights after. You will love them!!!! Great channel guys!!!
Ryan / George, That power comes with the drums, bass and guitars playing on the same beats. That gives it that PUNCH.
Watching live how Gojira creates those sounds and riffs on their guitars is just as entertaining as listening to the music
Saw you awesome dudes at the gojira concert at house of blues on the upper level what an amazing show bros I was in the pit for 75% of the set list lol been a subscriber for over a year now keep up the quality content!
First time you gents have reviewed a song I haven't heard. It's fun being right there with you as you hear it.
Agalloch - In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion!!! Please!
or Not Unlike the Waves! That's my favorite song by them.
First some black metal with teeth. Emperor or ihsahn's solo stuff. Or darkthrone. Getting older is great with darkthrone in your life: it means you've had the chance to listen to more darkthrone. Just like maiden...
INTO THE PAINTED GREY
A freakin masterpiece of music. Its sad most in the metal community dont appreciate this band
@@sunilshivanand2008 They are very appreciated by everyone who knows them
Damn! I didn't know y'all were THAT poppin! Congrats! Nothing but respect! And so cool of Gojira too!
I love how these brothers are into heavy music. We need more brothers MAKING heavy music too! Shout out to you from Australia! ✊
Can't wait to hear what you guys say about them live. They are a bucket list band for me. Hope you enjoyed.
I think you guys will have a great time. Seeing other people go to concerts for the first time, it's priceless.
You two are in for a real treat! gojira in an intimate venue is other worldlyB
Please post an in depth review of seeing them live. I'm dying to see what you guys thought. Not only are they the best band to see live but they are one of the first bands you have seen live in the metal genre. Let's get it Free Thinkers!!!
Someone make this man a shirt that says “already” 😂
One of the best channels on RUclips. Good know I’ve been on board for a very long time.
So happy you are going to see Gojira!! What an awesome show for you two to experience!! I've seen them a dozen times and they have never disappointed.
Gojira - Where Dragons Dwell (live from Hellfest 2013)
When it comes to drumming, you have to consider, is it a live recording, or studio recorded. There are several factors when getting a specific tone out of your drums:
-Type of drum(shell material)
-Size of the drum( circumference)
- Size of the drumstick
- Type Of drum heads used
- How you Mic the drums
- The player, of course..
I hope you guys document your experience at the concert!
Also, please do Carcass - Heartwork!!!!
napalmfred “Blind Bleeding the Blind” is my favorite Carcass song. Sad it will never be done live according to Bill
The_Jeepers_Turtle thats my fav song too! Sad to hear that bill said that
Loved the shoutout Joe gave you guys at the concert here in Vegas!! Hell yeah!! Had a great time
Totally right, I probably wouldn't have started listening to Gojira without Lost In Vegas. I had heard them but couldn't get into it...you guys brought them another chance, and here we all are.
Architects - Gone with the Wind
August Burns Red - Meddler
Protest the Hero - Dunsel
August Burns Red - Beauty In Tragedy
Bloodmeat or Sequoia Throne would be a better reaction
Solid list
Cheers
This is my son's all time favorite band so I'm here reactioning with you for the first time. Ohhh!! I wish I take him to there concert!!
Architects - Doomsday
Pllleeeeeaaase!!!!
Yes please. Totally new genre for them as well.
Pantera-The Sleep would be a great choice. Not only does it have groove but the drums are the shit.
Matt Curless dont forget about the solo. arguably one of the best ever.
Sadly they won't listen to any Pantera song anymore... I've tried so long and they're missing out big time. Pantera is one of the greats! > the big four
That came up on Pandora yesterday. Forgot how good that song is. Took me right back to high school. \m/
Mario also uses one inch longer sticks then the standard length.
So happy for you guys! I started watching this channel because of reactions of Gojira and now you about to see their show! I've watched several times the reactions (and requested a lot hahaha) because here in Brazil is really hard to find someone who likes this band. In my work, nobody is a metalhead and talking to people about it is not so nice, in general everybody just don't get so excited or just don't wanna here what I have to say about the music hahaha Then, I keep watching your videos to feel this genuine pleasure that my friends and collegues don't have. Is like watching the videos makes me happy cause' is like I'm talking to a friend who loves Gojira as much as I do. Man, sounds crazy, but is just how I feel about Lost In Vegas, is really nice to see that it's possible to be free thinkers, you are the proof of that, but most of the people just don't even try to. Congratulations on the channel, you are the only channel who I receive that bell update hahaha I will keep watching it all.
Good show for you guys, I'm really happy that you guys are able to see them and I hope you meet the boys, they are amazing!
And please react to Avantasia - The Raven Child hahahah ooor Gojira - The Shooting Star
My man and I are so excited to potentially see you tonight at the gig! Have a wonderful time!
Please do some Be’lakor, they really need more appreciation. Countless Skies I would recommend.
Be'lakor is an absolutely dope band
React to Low Lands....its a little different in terms of tempo but its my favorite Gojira song.
Most underrated Gojira song : Inward movement
Awesome track
Im gonna check that one out. Im currently loving yamas messengers.
THAT ENDING THO
Damn I'm glad someone thinks this too, my favourite Gojira song at the moment
loyck or embrace the world
It's so cool to see you guys growing so much! Thanks for another great video! 🤘🤘🤘
Thank you for opening my mind to the lyrics 🔥. Before this reaction I was paying attention only to the music. I became Vegan recently and now I love this song and band a lot more!
In addition thank you a lot for re-introdusing me to the band. I listened to them a bit and I've even been to their concert on a festival. But I really got into Gojira only after your Stranded and The Heaviest Matter in the Universe reactions!
Enjoy your time at the concert guys! 🤘
