Jacckie Sparrow Haha it's just cuz George is a pretty big Lars fan, he's mentioned it in Metallica videos before, even though lots of people have mentioned how much they don't like Lars.

I was going through his Instagram posts once and in one of the comments someone asked about how he was so good with double bass. His reply was that there was no real formula. He just practiced for an hour everyday for 10 years straight. He further elaborated that that is essentially how he can play drums the way he can. It was just endless practice and nothing else

Jonathan Zemel yeah man I'm just standing up for my trans people out there, don't want them getting discouraged. And yeah If lost in vegas go Deathcore then I'm gone 👋
This song is more of a stream-of-consciousness and emotion from the perspective of someone who is literally dying. That’s why the sounds like someone is in panic, and towards the end, contentment and acceptance. My favorite lines are when he talks about realizing he is having trouble keeping his eyes open(holding on to life) only to realize that they have been open for a long time, which to me, says that 1. He is becoming fully aware that his life is draining, along with his reflexes and ability to control his body and it describes the exact moment someone would lose that bodily control, yet with their mind still very much active and holding on. Hanging on to life, one would have a “don’t fall asleep” type of mindset while laying in your deathbed and reflecting on your life. “I haven’t closed my eyes in a long time” is both in panic that he is dying, yet satisfaction from living a fulfilling life. It’s beautiful.
Ryan, I was overwhelmed with this song at first. Their is a lot of different sounds going on and it almost puts you in sensory overload. When that last breakdown dropped, it won me over. This song is my go-to song for interval running.
And you wanna talk overwhelmed, listen to any 'between the buried and me' song after the first album (first albums kinda sucked) and you will be fighting a battle of ear candy and confusion
SOLUTE!!! You nailed the concept of the song as far as I've interpreted it. To me, Gojira ran with a conceptual message with the song, first, then built the music around it. The band had A LOT to say in this one, which is why it went in so many directions. As far as the intro, the clicking sticking patterns are definitely old school African/Tribal patterns that are designed to start in different places, but weave together harmoniously, creating a revolving/circular sound. Pretty difficult to count - let alone transpose via one drummer on a kit. Then, Mario (the drummer) transitions into the metal version of the traditional version of the African/Tribal pattern - playing the original sticking pattern with his feet, keeping the quarter note with the cymbal (instead of the bass drum), and syncopating the pattern with the snare. Transitioning in and out of that is pretty damn bananas. I never gravitated to this song as much as other Gojira songs (relating a lot with Ryan's initial reaction), but your overall analysis of it shed a new light on the song (the way it was meant to be heard). This song is a conceptual success in my opinion, so - when you look at it that way - it becomes a whole new experience altogether. PS: An album reaction to Gojira would be A-MA-ZING.
SO happy you guys looked into this song! One of my favorites, and as a drummer who has tried to play this song. It is incredibly difficult trying to manage the rhythms between all your limbs. The kick drum is playing the same pattern that was being played in the intro. Once the lyrics come in, the playing gets much easier. The drum pattern is two bars, the first is in 6/4, the second is 21/16, and over the top of it you're trying to keep a steady quarter note with your right arm on the cymbal bell. It's a super cool groove, and the whole song overall is super impressive on all the instruments
Lol We all feel the same! Dudes only have so many hours in a day though and they're covering multiple genres. Be patient, I'm sure more Tool is coming ;)
As a drummer, this song drives me absolutely crazy, it's best to isolate the individual drums and practice each separately. Just the kicks then the arms and then combine them once you get them down.
Adding on, I'm still learning how to use my electric kit, hooking it up to the computer and stuff (honestly terrible with technology) but if you guys ever wanted help breaking down a drum beat, let me know. You guys are awesome for diving this far into metal.
The Art of Dying being one of my all time favorite songs I have to say I enjoyed your reaction a real lot and I am going to tell you what I think about it. To me the song is structured into three chapters: Chapter I - "Breathing slowly, mechanical heartbeat..." It tells about how machines and technology are taking away a whole lot of our lives. We don't go out and socialise but sit at home and watch TV - the machine is doing all the thinking for us. The music being disgusting, bulky, awkward and difficult describes the struggle we have to not give away the control of our own lives and just work in the same mechanisms over and over again. Chapter II - "I won't bring no material..." This person finds some kind of deliverance in the thought of death being an end to the misery of chapter I. In death all the things controlling our lives are no more. "I can't stomach all this anymore. Once I'll die I will let go of it all and thus have an easy joyful afterlife". Chapter III - The instrumental outro This is their view of the afterlife set to tune. It's a soul travelling lightly through space. Free of all the material stuff that chained it throughout life. Having tried to describe it now, I once more realise how this song is just beyond words for me. This is also what makes Gojira really important to me: it's not only awesome music but it's a view and a mindset about life, death and the role of humans in nature. Keep it up!

The outro of Indians is one of my favorite metal passages of all time. It's just a short, chaotic, and efficient clinic on what peak metal is. Absolutely love it.
You guys are really developing your own tastes within metal. One of these days, I think you should go back to a few of the earlier songs that you weren't into to see if your opinion has changed
My advice for Ryan... I'm a huge metal head and I didn't like the song at first either. It's off beat rhythm is off putting at first for sure, but the more you listen to it the more it grows on you and you enjoy it more like a fine wine, just give this a few thorough listens to yourself and you will be slamming this jaunt in your car like it owes you money for betraying your brotherin.
@@gnarkilleptic4871 Very well put. I wasn't into the hardcore growling at all. I liked Metal for a long time but wasn't into this type. I slowly but surely came around to Gojira and love them now. When I first heard this one it wasn't one that was on my playlist. That's happened on a lot of songs for me. Once you warm up to the uniqueness and the undeniable talent of it, it becomes hard to not have it be one of your favorites. It's just on another level.
Man.. the intro is totally an odd time signature.. You could say it's a 45/16 .. but it may make more sense to break it into 6/4 7/8 and 7/16, or 6/4 and 21/16 (to say it even simpler its |: 4, 4, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 4, 4, 2, 2 :| ) The kick drum is in straight 4/4 though, so this combines into a polymeter. Playing this is more about feeling it then trying to count. It is pretty insane, thoug. Later the drummer splits this betwewn the ride bell, kick drum and snare which is crazy! Mario Duplatier is a beast
Kyle McDonnell sure, but odd ones nevertheless :D it also a polymeter with 4/4 in the bass drum and the messy time signatures on top of it. Props to Mario, he's a badass drummer
Yeah, it's moments like these where I feel like a time signature doesn't really apply. It's a pattern of note groupings over a steady pulse that is a quarter note, and I feel like it should be felt as a constant force driving forward as opposed to a set number of measures that repeats.
The crazy pattern is in fact in 4/4, you can follow the ride cymbal to stay in time. The kind of structure of the beat is playing: 3 kicks then a snare x3 (there is a semi quaver rest between each repeat so that’s why it doesn’t repeat on the beat) 2 kicks then a snare x3 (no rest inbetween) 3 kicks then a snare x3 (same rest as before) 2 kicks then a snare x2 (no rests) As such, this groove moves across the bar line and produces the polyrhythmic feel you are hearing. When it resolves, Mario (the drummer) then plays 6 quarter note beats of a different rhythm to resolve the whole thing to start again on the beat. He is playing there: 3 kicks 2 snares x4 (bearing in mind, there is a semiquaver rest between the snare drums) This is all while keeping time playing quarter notes on the ride, then moving to the crash. It’s a very difficult rhythm, to play cleanly while still giving it punch. Hope I explained it correctly, if not let me know!
maxNchicken So I did some digging at drummerworld where the same question was asked. Luke Snyder replied: “Its not really 4/4, I'm notating it. [This] is a complex passage trading groups of 3 and 5 16th notes. I started with just the clicking rhythm in the beginning, it is a very long phrase. It is 3 groups of 5, followed by 3 groups of 3, followed by another 3 groups of 5, followed by 2 groups of 3. I attached the midi notation of it as well as a bounce of it. If you use the length of that phrase to give your time signature, it is 45/16. This rhythm gives us the basis for the drum part, once the guitars kick in. On each group of 5, the snare plays on the 4th note, and on each group of three, the snare plays the 3rd note. Over top of all of that, the bell of the ride is played every quarter note. This means that the quarter note gets offset by a 16th each time the 45/16 is played through. That means that the drum pattern doesn't actually repeat for 180 16th notes.”
You guys are past DUE to listen to Death. Here are few, pick any: Death - Scavanger of Human Sorrow Death - Spirit Crusher Death - The Philosopher Death - Crystal Mountain Death - 1000 Eyes Ugh and whatever you chose you wont go wrong with Death. Chuck (from death) is the FATHER of deathmetal, and the first one to bring this transitions you guys like. He also always gets sick drummers past his first 3 albums or so. I think you will love it.
Y’all are right about the rhythm, it’s very complex: 3 groups of 4, 3 groups of 2, 3 groups of 4, then 2 groups of 2. Makes for a crazy time signature, but he plays it flawlessly over a 4/4 pulse in the intro, and a 4/4 ride pattern after the drop. Amazing stuff!
I love your enthusiasm for Gojira. I know I'm not the only one who requested you play this. Gojira is in my top 5 bands. I can't tell you how much I love watching you two. I'll go back and rewatch your vids. Keeping it real 🤘
What!! Gojira again?? Let's get some Cradle of Filth(lord abortion) Some Marilyn Manson (The Beautiful People) what's next a another rush song? lol. Big fan love your video's much respect just saying.
Same yo I rewatch the Gojira videos multiple times. The drops making George scrunch his face up is THEEEE QUINTESSENTIAL REASON for the existence of music. Dope shit making you twist your face up = LIFE, my guy. #MusicIsLife
If someone told me when I was growing up that one day I'd be watching two dudes listening to a song for the first time so I can witness their reaction, I'd told that someone they were crazy as bat shit, but here were are, and it's awesome and the two of you certainly can bring perspective to a song. Better than watching "real" tv!
It's happening😮😊 Edit: As a drummer the intro is the hardest part to memorize, the rest is really fun. The drummer really drives the heaviness of the chorus, which is great to improvise once you understand the feel.
Man can you imagine if when the new Tool album drops they take Gojira on tour with them??? I think it would warp reality or cause a black hole in every town.
I had the opportunity to meet Joe and Mario of Gojira (the lead singer/guitarist and drummer) at their recording studio in Brooklyn about 2 years ago before they released their last album. They were doing a clinic and were going over one of their songs. Someone actually brought up the drum pattern in this song, which I was expecting (since i'm a drummer as well). And Mario drew the notes on the chalk board and made it a little bit easier to understand, but I still can't get it down just because it's so complicated. As far as time signatures, it's in 4/4, but it's a very creative patten that Mario came up with. One of my favorite songs on drums that I still can't get down to this day.
Asif Ahmed time signatures are a way to count beats in the music. So a 4/4 has four note values where each note is equal to a quarter note. So you would count 1,2,3,4 in each bar of music. And each of those notes has a quarter value. (I may be explaining it badly lol)
For me it is impossible to like this song without metal background. I started to love and understand it after 5 or 6 plays. George, you impress me, you go through the aggressiveness of the song and understand subtleties of this so easily. Best reaction
When I started getting into heavier sub genres of metal, I listened to flying whales and it was too much for me. Now it is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard
Stolen from another comment in a different video for this song: "The polyrhythm section in this song is brilliant. If I may give a technical explanation (I didn't come up with it, I heard it in an interview of Mario Duplantier, the drummer). It has puzzled many drummers. If you look it up on the internet, the classical notation for the rhythm would give a cycle from 4/4 to 2/4 to 21/16. But this notation is not appropriate as it doesn't tell you what's really going on. It's easier to break it down into a 3-layer polyrhythm. It's played at 140 in sextuplets. The intro gives you the basic pattern: 1234 1234 1234 12 12 12 1234 1234 1234 12 12 When the song starts, the bell gives the 4/4 pulse on top of which the two other patterns will be overlaid. The trick Mario Duplantier is using is to alternate the right and left foot to start each group of notes : RLRL LRLR RLRL LR RL LR RLRL LRLR RLRL LR RL. Then he fills the blanks with the snare. I didn't do the math, but the ending result is a cycle that resolves each 54 bars or something like that. Crazy if you ask me."
That's what I call a reaction video! Not just headbanging and yelling "awesome", but actual honest thoughts and great analysis. I always find something new in familiar songs after your reaction guys. Thanks a lot! Also, you made me try a hip-hop, and I'd never in my life would do this if not your videos.
I've been a fan of Gojira since i first heard them years back... Seeing you two react to something I love so much, and experiencing it for the first time gives me great pleasure. Your reactions are so spot on, and you catch a lot of the nuance of their rhythms, gives me so much respect for you. I don't think as a metalhead that I could ever react to hip-hop like you react to metal. Many props. Great youtube channel! Keep up the heavy!
I left this comment in the first few minutes, now I'm literally grinning from ear to ear at ruclips.net/video/eSCcRhHyvjo/видео.html (i don't know how to timestamp youtube vids)he literally stands up and walks off, "THAT'S FIRE THAT'S FIRE". That's how I feel listening to this music. So great.
Gojira will go down as one of the best metal bands ever. They have a purpose. Their the most unique and original metal band today. Been a fan since 2007.
Yo, I just got into Gojira a week ago and had never heard of you guys either, but I'm subscribing. You guys are the ONLY react video I've ever found entertaining. You seem cool, knowledgeable, and you're funny. Much love.

17:32 is the moment that I was waiting for :) You guys and the members of Gojira band are so similar to each other, you speak from the hearth. Thanks for these beautiful videos, keep it up bros !!!
Meshuggah - new millennium cyanide Christ. Bleed always gives people the wrong impression of Meshuggah. I hate that it's always the first requested because it turns so many people off of Meshuggah. Meshuggah is amazing and it would be a shame if you didn't delve a little more into their catalog due to the outlier that is bleed. Please please do new millennium cyanide Christ. Its the grooviest metal song of all time. Can I get some upvotes on this?
You guys had me in tears on this one, lol! One thing I would like to mention, everyone has a gateway band into a new genre of music, obviously Gojira is yours... but looking back at some of the prog/metal songs you've listened to leading up to hearing Gojira, it didn't quite make sense. Hearing George say throughout the entire song, 'I'm biased' was hilarious but its the mindset a lot of prog fans have coming into another new prog song from a band they KNOW is going to deliver... you have a biased beginning and then the song delivers and instead of just getting it... you love it. I'm excited to see you guys are finally getting a taste of that, hopefully more bands will make this crossover for you in the future. I recommend Between the Buried and Me almost ever video, I really want you guys to hear them, but I know as a fan that you may not understand it and may not like them at all, ( like the Opeth reaction), but this song gives me hope that you will understand BTBAM better than I am expecting. Cheers guys. I could be completely wrong about this, but I feel like if you could time travel and go back 1 year from now and let you listen to this exact song then, it wouldn't be the same video as today. You've come a long ways!
If you're new to them, I think a great album to start with is Colors. Its old enough to give you their roots but its their defining album that shows where they are now as a band. If you want just a single song to pick from the album, Ants of the Sky is great. A newer album to check out would be Coma Ecliptic, more refined, check out the song Turn on the Darkness. I have been suggesting George and Ryan listen to a song called The Coma Machine because I feel like its got a catchy enough groove they will give it a chance, but if you're a prog fan in general, anything from BTBAM will make sense. Hope you enjoy!
“Deadhead” by Devin Townsend Band. One of the greatest, most powerful, most raw pieces of music you’ll ever here. Townsend’s music changed my life, and this is my favorite song by him.
Nah man, just seeing how into the music he is and the live performance of that song will definitely make them appreciate him a lot more and delve into his catalogue ...
To add to Mario’s complex drumming, the double bass isn’t continuous 16ths in the beginning, there’s a few 16th rests. Had to listen to it a couple times and said “wait he’s not playing that straight through”
Daryl rabara-brokate The double bass is playing the same as the intro with the snare hitting the last note of each group. Like this ...: ...: ...: .: .: .: ...: ...: ...: .: .:

It took me a good few listens to truly appreciate this song as well
yep
Man.. the intro is totally an odd time signature.. You could say it's a 45/16 .. but it may make more sense to break it into 6/4 7/8 and 7/16, or 6/4 and 21/16 (to say it even simpler its |: 4, 4, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 4, 4, 2, 2 :| )
The kick drum is in straight 4/4 though, so this combines into a polymeter.
Playing this is more about feeling it then trying to count. It is pretty insane, thoug. Later the drummer splits this betwewn the ride bell, kick drum and snare which is crazy! Mario Duplatier is a beast
Ondrej Skivalkählisiin that's just called changing time signatures bro haha
Kyle McDonnell sure, but odd ones nevertheless :D it also a polymeter with 4/4 in the bass drum and the messy time signatures on top of it. Props to Mario, he's a badass drummer
Ooops, I seem to have just repeated myself.. perhaps too much whiskey, haha :D
Ondrej Skivalkählisiin oh hell yeah, he's a boss. Polymeter always sounds super complicated haha
The kind of structure of the beat is playing:
3 kicks then a snare x3 (there is a semi quaver rest between each repeat so that’s why it doesn’t repeat on the beat)
2 kicks then a snare x3 (no rest inbetween)
3 kicks then a snare x3 (same rest as before)
2 kicks then a snare x2 (no rests)
As such, this groove moves across the bar line and produces the polyrhythmic feel you are hearing. When it resolves, Mario (the drummer) then plays 6 quarter note beats of a different rhythm to resolve the whole thing to start again on the beat.
He is playing there:
3 kicks 2 snares x4 (bearing in mind, there is a semiquaver rest between the snare drums)
This is all while keeping time playing quarter notes on the ride, then moving to the crash.
It’s a very difficult rhythm, to play cleanly while still giving it punch.
Hope I explained it correctly, if not let me know!
maxNchicken So I did some digging at drummerworld where the same question was asked. Luke Snyder replied:
“Its not really 4/4, I'm notating it.
That means that the drum pattern doesn't actually repeat for 180 16th notes.”
www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/gojira-the-art-of-dying-tab-s71013t5 here you can find that it's not only 4/4
Because this tab is not properly written to be honest.
www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88133
Definitely not 4/4
maxNchicken you have no idea how much I appreciate this
Death -Symbolic ;)
You guys are past DUE to listen to Death. Here are few, pick any:
Death - Scavanger of Human Sorrow
Death - Spirit Crusher
Death - The Philosopher
Death - Crystal Mountain
Death - 1000 Eyes
Ugh and whatever you chose you wont go wrong with Death. Chuck (from death) is the FATHER of deathmetal, and the first one to bring this transitions you guys like. He also always gets sick drummers past his first 3 albums or so. I think you will love it.
Tommy Trajkovski crystal mountain for sure
They've already done Crystal Mountain..I think they should get back around to Death for sure..
VACUITY- GOJIRA
Ya buddy. That toxic garbage island and this song are my favorites on the album
Vacuity rules!
My favorite!
Yes! The lyrics are pure poetry
Pantera - Domination (Live From Moscow)
Y’all are right about the rhythm, it’s very complex:
3 groups of 4, 3 groups of 2, 3 groups of 4, then 2 groups of 2. Makes for a crazy time signature, but he plays it flawlessly over a 4/4 pulse in the intro, and a 4/4 ride pattern after the drop.
Amazing stuff!
Death - Spiritual Healing, Scavenger of Human Sorrow, or Flesh and the Power It Holds
I love that he just came out and said it "I AM BIASED"
I love your enthusiasm for Gojira. I know I'm not the only one who requested you play this. Gojira is in my top 5 bands. I can't tell you how much I love watching you two. I'll go back and rewatch your vids. Keeping it real 🤘
We see you Liz! We appreciate your continued support!!
What!! Gojira again?? Let's get some Cradle of Filth(lord abortion)
Some Marilyn Manson (The Beautiful People) what's next a another rush song? lol. Big fan love your video's much respect just saying.
You love a band so much but yet misspell their name hahahha. Nice avatar pic btw, all hail the Devy
Same yo I rewatch the Gojira videos multiple times. The drops making George scrunch his face up is THEEEE QUINTESSENTIAL REASON for the existence of music. Dope shit making you twist your face up = LIFE, my guy. #MusicIsLife
Liz * Nice profile pic, Devin Townsend is my favorite artist 👍
Death - Spirit crusher
Gojira - Gift of Guilt
That was the first song I heard by gojira and I will never regret it! Amazing fucking band!
It makes me happy seeing how much you guys enjoyed 17:34. This groove honestly completes the whole song.
Gojira is awesome, as always. Looking forward to more Deftones reviews from you guys!
The gift of guilt as the next gojira video!!🤘🤘
The live video😉🤘
Absolutely!
Guy on the right is gonna be listening to Immolation in 6 years.
Haha, and some GORGUTS
Hahahaha for real, he loves this shit
lol Immolation? That was straight out of left field.
Sooo specific, but good choice!
I can also see groove era Napalm Death or mid 90s Morbid Angel..like Where the Slime Live
Gojira - Backbone
I think you should do something like “ FRIDAYS WITH GOJIRA “
because every single gojira song is worth listening !!
Gojira-Born In Winter
Next Gojira reaction has to be Toxic Garbage Island.
Ronnie Lacey yes please!
PLASTIC BAG IN THE SEA !
YESSSSS
It's happening😮😊
Edit: As a drummer the intro is the hardest part to memorize, the rest is really fun. The drummer really drives the heaviness of the chorus, which is great to improvise once you understand the feel.
4 4 4 2 2 2 4 4 4 2 2
it's the " same " pattern with some variant
Not trying to be arrogant but I actually found the intro to be the easiest part, if you think of groupings it only takes a minute to figure out
@@lewisjones284 yeah I figured it isn't actually that
dididididi didi didi did didididi didididi didi didi di di didididi didididi didi didi
@@Celatra I don't know if that's you transcribing the intro in didi's but if it is it's not right
BORN IN WINTER BY GOJIRA
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell or For Whom The Bell Tolls - Metallica
Gojira- Global Warming (live studio video) yall will love it
I cannot wait until you review Gojira - The Gift of Guilt.
Matt Beckman yes, good recommendation
Can't say. it's one of the best songs, because they have so many "best ones", but definately great proposition.
so good
gift of guilt is a great recommendation, the ending of that song is just so much fucking emotion
Hell yes. That one and Mouth of Kala are incredible.
Death - Crystal Mountain!!!!!
Death - Scavenger of Human Sorrow
One of, what I consider the greatest songs of all time.
Man can you imagine if when the new Tool album drops they take Gojira on tour with them??? I think it would warp reality or cause a black hole in every town.
Omar Munoz I saw tool in 2001 for the lateralus tour with meshuggah 🤘🤘🤘
Ryan McCumber thats one of the only tool tours i missed. Been seing them since the undertow days.
Never clicked a video so fast before! Love your reviews guys! So honest and genuine. Keep it up 👍🏼
So Same... was the 8th like! :)
"It's like if you bust a nut" lmfao!!!
😂
George is starting to understand metal tempo and groove at high speeds. it awesome
He's a drummer at heart for sure.
Thanks for the feedback! This is EXACTLY what we were looking for!
No problem! I love your channel! Best music reviewers on RUclips!
Hey Matt quick question from a musical noob. What's a time signature? I keep seeing it in gojira and tool comments sections.
Wait... what the fuck? That is in 4/4? I've been listening to this song for 3 years and I always thought it was an odd time signature, holy shit!
Asif Ahmed time signatures are a way to count beats in the music. So a 4/4 has four note values where each note is equal to a quarter note. So you would count 1,2,3,4 in each bar of music. And each of those notes has a quarter value. (I may be explaining it badly lol)
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SOOOOO LONG...THANK YOU LOST IN VEGAS!!
Stolen from another comment in a different video for this song:
"The polyrhythm section in this song is brilliant. The intro gives you the basic pattern: 1234 1234 1234 12 12 12 1234 1234 1234 12 12
When the song starts, the bell gives the 4/4 pulse on top of which the two other patterns will be overlaid.
Seen this exact comment somewhere else
He practices three hours of just the pedal everyday or something crazy like that
@@natural8677 wow
@@natural8677 4 hours of practice with 1hour of double bass i think
It resolves every 45 bars
Gojira really can do no wrong...An elite Band At an elite level...great review..
Gojira just shared this on Facebook!!!
Im just blown away how much george loves this band .
silver black I'm not. They're fucking awesome
Gojira - Where Dragons Dwell main riff is absolutely beautiful!
💯
That's what I call a reaction video! Not just headbanging and yelling "awesome", but actual honest thoughts and great analysis. I always find something new in familiar songs after your reaction guys. Thanks a lot! Also, you made me try a hip-hop, and I'd never in my life would do this if not your videos.
valignatev this is what this channel is about. 👍
Gojira - The gift of guilt!!!
Hell yes! they NEED to hear this, If any song is going to sell Ryan on Gojira, it's this one.
Ya they’ll love that
The live version is epic.
Yes ! But the one @brixton academy ! Sooo good I can't listen to the album version anymore !
Polyrhythms - Level of difficulty: Very.
Obnoxiously
20:36, as a drummer, this is SO TRUE. Theres a huge difference between an average drummer and a GREAT drummer.
Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes
Ishaan Kochhar YEEEES
Born in Winter now PLEASE
Insane song
jaw dropped every time i listen to this song
this would be fucking epic
A Perfect Circle - Judith!
This song is a masterpiece. Like Bach's organ compositions, it needs some time to get to appreciate it.
They say the closest genre to classical music is metal.
A lot of the musicians have a classical background.
I love Gojira, but please don't blaspheme. Something like Art of Fugue are classic novels whereas Gojira is pulp short stories stitched together.
Death - Misanthrope
Thanks for doing this one! Please do some Pantera. Some good ones to do:
Cemetery Gates
Domination, Live from Moscow '91
Floods
The Sleep
Death- Symbolic
In Flames- Dead Eternity
Children of Bodom- Downfall
QuoVadis- Shores of Ithika
Opeth- The Moor
Good mix to boot
I'd love to go with these two to a metal show, I know a metal festival would be overload for them
Todd Berger totally! Even as an stage introducer at a metfest :D
RIDE THE LIGHTNING
Next, Gojira - L'Enfant Sauvage
Jordan Brooks Silvera...
Born in the winter
BACK FUCKING BONE
WeyKAse Molibdenodio yes
Gift of guilt!!!
Gojira - The Gift of Guilt. It's a must do, i'm sure many will agree :) love the video though, keep it up
Testamentis especially live at Brixton! Better than the album recording!
Yeeeeeees. When he shouts at 5:25 so much emotion
Gift of guilt is pretty good
I agree
They'll definitely like The Gift of Guilt.
Eddie Cardwell i been a fan since 06/07 too. They really are the best
No one even compares to gojira. Favorite band.
Too true. This band is phenomenally talented.
I know exactly what you guys like, so I’ll tell you the following songs to be heard: Oroborus, Gift of Gilt, Silvera, L’enfant Sauvage.
Thiago Rabelo Batista Pereira also Toxic Garbage Island
They will LOVE "The Gift of Guilt," guaranteed.
Take off Silvera and yeah I agree
Ariel Simnegar its one of the my least favorite songs they've ever done
Thiago Rabelo Batista Pereira I'd add Explosia they'd love the beginning and change up.
Strapping young lad - Love?. You know imma keep spamming this until ya do it. And trust me, it's worth it.
Also Almost Again. The drums in that song are euphoric.
Gene Hoglan is a god amongst gods. I can't believe how good he is.
yeaaaaas pleeeeease
We need some SYL in here. It's Devy's 1st forray into personal projects
What's even crazier is when he plays he makes it look so effortless. He's just grooving away with his eyes closed like it's a basic swing beat.
Yo, I just got into Gojira a week ago and had never heard of you guys either, but I'm subscribing. You guys are the ONLY react video I've ever found entertaining. You seem cool, knowledgeable, and you're funny. Much love.
Metallica - Unforgiven
Death - Crystal Mountain
Alice in chains - Would
Alice in chains - Down in a Hole
Iced Earth - Dracula
Iced Earth - Watching Over Me
Instead of Unforgiven, I'd say they should give a less known track like Hero of the Day or Rebel of Babylon a listen.
Otherwise I agree!
Trains - Porcupine Tree
This one is big, trust me
Faiyaz Chowdhury anesthetize or arriving somewhere but not here os better for 1st time
YOU DAMN RIGHT!!!
Blackest eyes or Sound of Muzak
Death - the flesh and the power it holds
YEAHHHH!!!!
Kyle Ledermann I support this message
I can already see them enjoying the opening riff
I love Bleed, but when I first heard it it was just a bunch of noise. I had to listen to Destroy Erase Improve and returned to Bleed later.
Meshuggah are amazing...but lets face it...every Meshuggah song has that same element that sounds abrasive to the untrained ear
Justin Smith The Last Vigil
A Perfect Circle - TalkTalk
Tool - Vicarious
Volbeat - Still Counting
Puscifer - Telling Ghosts
A Perfect Circle - Orestes
You deserve more likes my friend.
DEATH - FLESH AND THE POWER IT HOLDS
That song is a journey, and it gets better with every listen. Epic reaction from you both!
Body Count - No Lives Matter
or
Anthrax & Public Enemy - Bring the noise
(strong examples of metal and hip-hop)
Tiago Moreira Check Stuck Mojo
Nick Barnes I love Gojira but I don’t know about BTBAM. Got any recommendations?
Be sure to do the live version from Royal Albert Hall. It's mind blowing.
Agreed, but I think the studio version would be a better place to start. And he's so raw on Accelerated Evolution.
Nah man, just seeing how into the music he is and the live performance of that song will definitely make them appreciate him a lot more and delve into his catalogue ...
Amen
Yes
To add to Mario’s complex drumming, the double bass isn’t continuous 16ths in the beginning, there’s a few 16th rests. Had to listen to it a couple times and said “wait he’s not playing that straight through”
Daryl rabara-brokate
The double bass is playing the same as the intro with the snare hitting the last note of each group.
