  • You’re finally planning a trip to the GRAND CANYON, but… where do you start? What points can you visit? Where is the Skywalk? What else is there to do?
All these questions and more are addressed in this 2-part video series on what you can do at the Grand Canyon.
In this video, we cover the major points of interest at the West Rim of the Grand Canyon-also known as Grand Canyon West. It is important to note that the West Rim is NOT a part of Grand Canyon National Park, and is Hualapai Indian Tribal Territory.
→The West Rim is the rim closest to the Nevada/Arizona border.

There are a couple of different ways you can get to Grand Canyon West:
    1. Drive
If you choose to drive, you will likely be coming from either Las Vegas or Arizona. The drive time from Las Vegas, NV, is approximately 2-3 hours. From Flagstaff, the drive is 3.5 hours, and from Phoenix-approximately 4 hours. Admission into Grand Canyon West requires the purchase of a Legacy Ticket, which can be found on Grand Canyon West’s website.
    2. Fly
Grand Canyon West Airport is a public airport at the West Rim. You can fly in via either helicopter or airplane. If you choose to fly with Maverick Helicopters or Maverick Airlines, you have the option of departing from Las Vegas (Maverick Helicopters) or Henderson (Maverick Airlines).
If you would like extended exploration time at Grand Canyon West, we recommend our Skywalk Odyssey or Indian Territory experience, where you will be flown into the Grand Canyon West Airport and shuttled to Eagle Point. From Eagle Point, you have your own time to explore and utilize the hop-on-hop-off shuttle to visit other points. Additionally, the Indian Territory experience includes a helicopter landing at our private landing bluff, located at the bottom of the canyon. Admission into Grand Canyon West is included in both tours. Skywalk is included in the Skywalk Odyssey, and an optional experience for the Indian Territory.
For the time-conscious traveler who would like to fly to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, we have helicopters departing from both Las Vegas and Grand Canyon West Airport and landing at our private bluff. The Wind Dancer begins at Las Vegas, while the Grand Canyon Discovery begins at GCW.

We enjoyed the Skywalk but why are they no barriers at all at Guano Point, that really freaked me out.

Might should have mentioned fees for the skywalk and no cameras allowed.

Safety comes first, please someone do something about safety first. It’s a shock to me that there are no safe guards there.😬

Agreed. Good news, they have recently started to put safety guards on some of the major vantage points!

There are a plenty of open space at the Canyon so you must be careful. There are some roped areas there as well

I can't believe you didn't say anything about prices, in this entrance you have to pay literally for everything. Accessing view points? - 30$, want to walk the sky walk? - 30$ want to just freaking enter the park?? - 44$. If you want to get a normal experience at the park, do yourself a favour and go to the South or North GC, otherwise you will be paying for every stone you walk on. Like this west location is a money drain, ive been to more than15 parks and i never everve seen anythign like this. All about the $$ from people who come from Las Vegas. Idk, to me it's more a principle thing, somebody may look at it and think that paying 100$ for a day in a park is fine, byt normally the admission fee is 30$ and then everything within the park (with exception of like a zip line) is free.... Ridicilous money drain. Shame on West GC

I’m glad you warned me. I have heard about the tourism money drain. I would love to go there, but I don’t want to be someone’s ATM

This video is pretty useless. It didn't answer the two most important questions: how do you get there from Vegas and how much does it cost.

Hi Tom, we provide a rundown of the different ways you can get to the West Rim from Las Vegas and Arizona in the description box above. For more information on pricing, you can visit the links provided next to each tour, also included in the description. Let us know if you have any questions and we'd be happy to jump on a chat with you!

Hello, thanks for the video but I have more questions.
I will be driving from lake havasu. Can I park at the west rim for free and see the canyon?

@@sammysunshine4884 we went today we brought our camper from Oregon and are staying in Vegas. Anyway we drove out there today and took our dogs with us. To our surprise when you get there about 3 miles away from the GC you have to purchase tickets and get on a shuttle bus that takes you out to the view points. You also have to purchase separate tickets for everything you would like to see/do. We drove 2.5 hours and had to come back because this place is no longer what it was back in 2000. It’s very monopolized. I felt bad cause that was one of the top things on our list to see while hear in Vegas. Just be prepared to pay for everything and make sure if you have dogs to leave them behind as they are not allowed on the shuttle unless they are service animals.
