That 120hz result on Xbox is VERY interesting. Can the lovely folks at DF please test this across a number of games? So intrigued. Would be greatly appreciated.
120fps capable is what you mean. 120hz would be the relative refresh-rate of the display. If you do not have a gaming monitor that is 120hz capable, you will not see 120fps. TVs that claim to have 120hz are really just interpolated, there are no TVs with real 120hz, only a few giant gaming monitors that are TV-sized (nvidia BFG and the LG 43UD79). 8-core Zen 2 and Navi are capable of reaching 120fps at 1080p, but that will not be the case for demanding titles. Most likely you will only see 120fps in very simple games from this hardware.
Damn, what they did with the engine on such a low spec hardware, is nothing short of astonishing. That's because they used 1440p then used upscaling for "4K". Honestly, if they had done the same for the XBox One X, instead of trying to brute force their way towards true 4K, they would have been better off. Unfortunately, even though the X has more powerful hardware, the developers seem to be under a mandate to push the higher resolution capabilities of the X at the expense of framerate.
Night scenes aren't realistic at all. They should be way darker. Looks like watching someone play the game on an old LCD with the gamma turned all the way up vs playing on an OLED. Shadows should be deep black, not grey.
I'm a fair way through the campaign on X1X and have only noticed tearing once or twice. Even so there is room for improvement so I have faith a patch will fix it up. Also, if you have an Atmos set up, that alone is a HUGE reason to choose the Xbox version over the PS4. Unbelievable!

You can only do so much with a series before people are burnt out. Well this series has went WAY beyond. People are sick of remasters, reboots, reduxs, etc etc. Gamers want FUN!! NEW IP's. Not yesterdays tech revamped and polished over again and again. Games are more than RESOLUTION!!

Not Digital Foundry's best analysis... It was kind of all over the place and didn't feel like the video was made with a solid framework/outline but instead it just felt like you kind of improvised. It just didn't feel like you went very in depth compared to your normal videos yet the video was still nearly 20 min long. Does anyone else feel this way too or am I just crazy and it's just me? No doubt you spent a lot of time making the video regardless though, so I will still give it a thumbs up just like I do on every DF video. Just a little healthy criticism 😋
Adaptive v-sync is a good fit for the game and probably should be the standard v-sync method on the other versions of the game. What I am most puzzled about is to why they didn't port the improved dynamic resolution scaling system that they implemented on PS4 Pro to the other consoles - although I don't know if it would help the base Xbox One much. It improved performance massively compared to the beta and would likely help a lot with clearing up the performance issues on Xbox One X, especially with the expensive volumetric lighting being tied to output resolution. Maybe they are working on it, though.
Current CPU limits mean developers have to choose between high frame rate and detailed physics. See the most recent Red Faction port and Just Cause 4 as references. Exceptions are few and far between.
it runs like crap on xbox one x compard to ps4 pro. shut up. watch the fucking video. cod sells 300-400% better on ps4 compared to xbox one, hence the focus from the developers. there's more than 100 million ps4 sold.
Hopefully there'll be some more optimisation by IW on the X version to hit 60fps...even if that means dropping to 1440p to do so would be a good move imo.
Any evidence of this, if anything it looks like they have built a pc version with the consoles in mind, then scaled back for consoles, which would make none of them a port.
Playing on the one x here. Controls, visuals, and especially the hdr and lighting are stellar. The performance, however, is not. The campaign drops frames 30 seconds into the first level and it does that way too frequently. Multiplayer drops frames and produces screen tearing on the x constantly. Pretty disappointing.
Split screen local has horrific screen tearing for the player using the too half of the screen on the X - unplayable mess. I refunded it and picked it up on the Pro - no issues whatsoever - far better experience. P.S. For those getting screen tearing full screen try taking motion blur off. I found it mitigated the problem on some levels with the X.
@@christophercoey7804 As Richard said, their performance profile should favor performance over resolution to stick closer to 60, but i doubt we'll see that.

It is an absolute certainty that this game will be aggressively monetized, no matter what they say. There is zero chance they’re gonna put R&D into actually making a good COD and actually monetize us fairly. It’s not how Activision works. They’re pretty greedy and disgusting.
Damn they really optimised it for PS4 Pro.
It's not more optimized on pro, X1X is just doing 100% more.

Van Dammage 100% more In what exactly the game is dropping like hell on Xbox one x, it’s sad how the base ps4 is doing much better than one x
Of course it is at a lower resolution without v sync.

While our smash game was loading i was watching his gameplay and i was astonished by how muddy and blurry the image look and how low the framerate was on the game and thought to myself "this game definitely does NOT run at a native 900p". After our smash session and getting back to our houses, immediately i looked for this video to check out if the game on base xbox one ran as bad as i though. Lord and behold, i was right lol. It just goes to show how truly underpowered the base xbox one is and how desperately microsoft needed that xbox one x

The single visual fidelity is pretty amazing but I want the same on multiplayer but I know it’s not gonna happen
They did a great job on the engine. Game runs fantastic even on an older i7 2600. Good cpu utilization I noticed.
Me: What about Physics?
IW: Physics? Whats Physics? Nobody needs of physics in a game.
This game features the classic Modern Warfare cinder block physics.
Probably saving that for Next-gen. Or they didn't design their maps with destructible objects in mind.
Current CPU limits mean developers have to choose between high frame rate and detailed physics. See the most recent Red Faction port and Just Cause 4 as references. Exceptions are few and far between.
