    This video is fantastic, the only video I have seen where he actually replaced the belt on video. the rest of experts talked alot. But this man shared my struggle, and there is no way in hell I would video it, So thanks Man.

    A big-big help was the removal of the tension assembly. Also, removed fan guard and loosened the fan assembly. Thanks this was very helpful!!

    This guy is the only person I've ever seen use a torque wrench on an alternator lol.

      Ben Denard Hey, torque values are torque values :)

      Yeah I just tighten bolts till my elbow clicks lol. Pretty good torque value lol

    Hell yeah bud. I ha to take off the tensioner as well. But I just unbolted the alternator to loosen belt. And used a strong screwdriver to pry the alternator back with the belt.

    Wheres the tensioner? how do you move pullys enough to get belt on alternator?

  • @ebm010

    Not sure why he struggled with this. Its not a walk in the park but i did my 2006 on the 1st shot in about 20 min. And i'm an idiot.
    I didn't loosen or remove a thing. Only used the "kickstand" feature on the alternator to loosen the old belt.

      @uberDoward  9 лет назад +3

      ebm010 My old tensioner didn't have a kickstand - the new one does, though. Does make it a lot easier :)

      Wow that's pretty fantastic. Just completed replacing the belts and tensioners in my 2006 dual-alternator (dual belts), and it took a better part of 1.5 days: removed radiator and shroud; attempted to remove the fan assy but couldn't; unbolted the fan stator; replaced the inner tensioner only to find that I couldn't get the new one into position so I had to remove the little retract lock lever. Was able to do the job without removing the fan assy although it would have saved a bunch of time if I could have. Looping the inner belt around the tensioner's smooth pulley required loosening the new tensioner. Installing the outer belt required looping it over the fan assy and stator.
      Not an easy job...

      The "kick stand" is on the tensioner

    • @pintaco4299
      @pintaco4299 11 месяцев назад

      @uberDoward thats probably why you had to remove it. Without the kickstand the smooth pully is too close to the compressor pully

    I’m afraid I don’t see how looking at a shoulder while some one says “here” about something you cannot see on screen is supposed to be helpful. I hate to sound surly, but you are supposed to show what you are doing, not film the back of your head.

    How do you change a serpentine belt on a dual alternator 2006 Super duty F350 6.0L?

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  8 лет назад

      +Faith Braswell It'll be similar to this - you'll need to locate the tensioner, release the tension, remove the belt, route the new belt in place, and re-apply the tensioner. I don't have a dual alternator setup, so I can't do a video of it, sorry!

    Pipe wrench and a long screw driver or straight bar and 10 minutes could of taken the fan out. Have a lot more room that way.

      Yeah, I would love a small head mounted camera to make this kind of thing easier to see. It's on the TODO list, but life and work keep getting in the way!

      Would you be able to use a white board to explain how you ran the belt?? I am familiar with the pulleys by name,
      but i am sure lots of guys aren’t. Still, i am not clear how you got the belt around the crank pulley as well as the fan pulley.

    Did you know there is a lock clip at the bottom of the tensioner? You only need to push the lock clip "up" while either pulling on the belt (if it's still on) or rotating the tensioner (1/2" drive). With the lock clip pushed "up", the lock clip holds the belt tensioner open - relieving the tension.

  • @unknownindividual731

    Why waste your time worrying about proper torque then, demonstrate improper use of a torque wrench? Pressure should only be applied at the grip end of the wrench. Do this without jerking on the handle or, your final torque will be incorrect. Only apply steady, uniform pressure and preferably, only use one hand on the handle. The object of the wrench is measuring the pounds applied at the grip. If for some reason you need to stabilize the wrench because you are using a long extension, place your other hand directly on top the head of the wrench. The whole meaning of the 35 foot pounds is that you are to apply 35 pounds of pressure at a distance of one foot from the head of the bolt. If the handle happens to be two feet long, that 35 lbs would actually become 1/2 of 35 lbs at the end of the 2 foot handle. The clicker on the wrench is calibrated to take into consideration the length of the handle, no matter what length the manufacturer made it.
