Those motors must be outputting a lot of torque for there to be a helical gears! I appreciate the various mechanisms and engines that are in nitro RC's because it is interesting how they works.
Hey bro! Yes, I guess twin nitro big-block motors just cannot be trusted with basic style gears for a truck this size. Considering he overall gear size the Helical solution really maximizes gear strength and smoothness in a tiny RC style package. One of the things I also appreciate about nitro RC, everything needs to be purpose built for it to work in such an application. Tons of vibration, lots of acceleration and braking, basically asking the machine to jump and absorb lots of energy upon impacts without breaking, you know.
Sick wish magazines still had pages of nitro engines like that, was cool to see some xtm engines in there I happen to have a couple of those 24.7 still on the hunt for there 457 and my xtm engine collection will be complete . Can’t wait to see you get that started and take out for some laps and maybe few jumps cause come it’s a monster truck !

I'm trying to build a truckzilla from what parts are left out there, but I can't find the engine mounts. I might have to make my own engine mounts if I decide to go through with it.

Once you've solved the engine mount problem you should be ok, lets just hope you could figure out the throttle linkage as I think that would be a major hurdle too. IT would for sure be a pretty big engineering project to make It work though. Good luck!!.
@@hybrid32494 thanks. The throttle should be easy. I'm just doing the one with the big single engine. I have the engine and everything but the engine mount. I've tried many other mounts and none have worked. There's a guy on eBay with the engine and mounts with it, but I'm not spending 275 for it.

hey bro! Your best bet for a direct replacement drop-in motor would be the Dynamite .19, they sell for around 110 bucks brand new. That is your only direct drop in solution at this point and the good think is the stock ez-start system will bolt up with no issues. Those motors are quite good running and will be your easiest solution. NItrogang!!
Wasn't the last twin engine coz the Schumacher manic is pretty much twin engine they just went about it abit differently that's all with a timing belt and one clutch bell and one carb but its still two r18 Schumacher engines joined together tho.

I want to put the lrp's in that thing so bad is it hard to swap the motors? Love this truck as a platform personally a body swap and two lrp's yeah buddy itd be torture on the drivetrain but thats what were here for
yes dude, I was also highly skeptical about the 3.5 on the block and how they got the .26 displacement. I read in the magazine it's basically the same block but with different pistons and cylinder sizes, so they did achieve the .26 in the end. Confusing, I know. IT seems that 3.5 block was used for lots of engine sizes during this time.

Hey man thanks so much I know you're not completely into the nitro RC's. But I'm sure you have come to appreciate the intricate details and designs they had to use to make something like this possible, considering how rare this special edition model is, I am truly stunned to be working on it and bringing it back to life. I am putting this project on the FAST PACE nitro repair plan!
the normal gears have (i dont know the name) 1 constant force from the output and thats it.. they grab within its gear teeth. and they have a limit on how much power those gears can handle helical gear(s) have the same teeth grabbing movement, but also an additional friction force because of its angle. the angle really helps with high power output machines/motors to put the power down where its needed. and because of this, it usually wears quicker indeed.. which is sad but the truth. PS: the receiver box placement is a bit on the extreme side of things, i feel like they could have done something with the fuel tank placements e.g. closer together or in a line next to each other to make room for the reveiver box that could be placed on the side of the chassis. but thats just me.
hey bro! All very good points! I'm glad you agree with that receiver box situation, then could have made it a snap on style lid which you can just snap in place and move it out from under that upper chassis support, that would have been a good idea. Instead it's 4 screws and the whole chassis brace to just replace the batteries, you know. And there is no external charge plug either (like on traxxas RCs).

@@marmar7105 ye man! you're right. I remember seeing true DYNO numbers at one point in life and I do remember how it was literally less than half the claimed power. But on the other hand, it's still a rating system we judge other motors by, you know. So it's misleading, yes, but all the other motors are still in that same line of power.

ruclips.net/video/3obCrbYcd-M/видео.html I still have the titan but i prefer my 2 ofna dominators better. problem with titans was shocks allowed arm to travel to much in turn snapping the pin in the cvd cup . the fix is to use smaller shocks like the dominator ones. next problem it was not geared right for its weight so you had to take out the 2 speed baby and put in a HUGE spur gear and a low tooth count bell, i used the smallest gear from the two speed bell. it was still plenty fast n fun but with good torque now. mine was single engine with the short body.

But yes I already notice weird suspension geometry on this, and the crazy huge wheel offset its using to compensate. unfortunately i have to bring you some sad news. since february it is only possible to buy up to 18% nitro or bionitro fuel in Europe. It should even be reduced to 12% in the next few years! :/
hey bro! yes, I;ve heard of that regulation coming into effect. To be honest with you, it's fine, no big-deal. You can easily tune a nitro motor to run almost the same on 15% nitro as on 25%. I've ran all sorts of fuel mixtures over the years, and the only thing that really changes in the High Speed Needle setting, for the most part. Overall nearly the same. Some people even run 0% nitro fuel and it's harder to keep a tune, but the motors run just fine.

BTW I did some further research on the 3K model on eBay, and that same rc appears in some various forum posts from a few years ago, looks like the guy is asking TOO MUCH and it's not selling. But I would say around $1,500-2K is more realistic for it. And ye, the primal is KING, no questions!! Glad I still have mine.

Once you've solved the engine mount problem you should be ok, lets just hope you could figure out the throttle linkage as I think that would be a major hurdle too. IT would for sure be a pretty big engineering project to make It work though. Good luck!!.
@@hybrid32494 thanks. The throttle should be easy. I'm just doing the one with the big single engine. I have the engine and everything but the engine mount. I've tried many other mounts and none have worked. There's a guy on eBay with the engine and mounts with it, but I'm not spending 275 for it.

hey bro! Your best bet for a direct replacement drop-in motor would be the Dynamite .19, they sell for around 110 bucks brand new. That is your only direct drop in solution at this point and the good think is the stock ez-start system will bolt up with no issues. Those motors are quite good running and will be your easiest solution. NItrogang!!

Wasn't the last twin engine coz the Schumacher manic is pretty much twin engine they just went about it abit differently that's all with a timing belt and one clutch bell and one carb but its still two r18 Schumacher engines joined together tho.

yes dude, I was also highly skeptical about the 3.5 on the block and how they got the .26 displacement. I read in the magazine it's basically the same block but with different pistons and cylinder sizes, so they did achieve the .26 in the end. Confusing, I know. IT seems that 3.5 block was used for lots of engine sizes during this time.

the normal gears have (i dont know the name) 1 constant force from the output and thats it..
they grab within its gear teeth. and they have a limit on how much power those gears can handle
helical gear(s) have the same teeth grabbing movement, but also an additional friction force because of its angle.
the angle really helps with high power output machines/motors to put the power down where its needed.
and because of this, it usually wears quicker indeed.. which is sad but the truth.
PS: the receiver box placement is a bit on the extreme side of things, i feel like they could have done something with the fuel tank placements e.g. closer together or in a line next to each other to make room for the reveiver box that could be placed on the side of the chassis. but thats just me.
hey bro! All very good points! I'm glad you agree with that receiver box situation, then could have made it a snap on style lid which you can just snap in place and move it out from under that upper chassis support, that would have been a good idea. Instead it's 4 screws and the whole chassis brace to just replace the batteries, you know. And there is no external charge plug either (like on traxxas RCs).

@@marmar7105 ye man! you're right. I remember seeing true DYNO numbers at one point in life and I do remember how it was literally less than half the claimed power. But on the other hand, it's still a rating system we judge other motors by, you know. So it's misleading, yes, but all the other motors are still in that same line of power.

I still have the titan but i prefer my 2 ofna dominators better. problem with titans was shocks allowed arm to travel to much in turn snapping the pin in the cvd cup . the fix is to use smaller shocks like the dominator ones. next problem it was not geared right for its weight so you had to take out the 2 speed baby and put in a HUGE spur gear and a low tooth count bell, i used the smallest gear from the two speed bell. it was still plenty fast n fun but with good torque now. mine was single engine with the short body.

unfortunately i have to bring you some sad news. since february it is only possible to buy up to 18% nitro or bionitro fuel in Europe. It should even be reduced to 12% in the next few years! :/
hey bro! yes, I;ve heard of that regulation coming into effect. To be honest with you, it's fine, no big-deal. You can easily tune a nitro motor to run almost the same on 15% nitro as on 25%. I've ran all sorts of fuel mixtures over the years, and the only thing that really changes in the High Speed Needle setting, for the most part. Overall nearly the same. Some people even run 0% nitro fuel and it's harder to keep a tune, but the motors run just fine.
