hey buddy! thanks so much for your support! im trying to make Nitro great again, and the first step is to BUY MORE NITRO RC, lol. anyway, this week I'll be putting out a video where I do just that. Nitrogang!!. Best memories ever,
man this brings me back, I had the rs4 rally, the electric mini rs4 (tonnes of fun) and an hpi pro 2 which i still have somewhere back in my parents house. I always wanted an HPI nitro so ended up with an RS4 3 nitro which was oodles of fun and much more realistic than a boring electric car. the noise, the smell, the action was intense! for the record 200mm bodies were for nitro cars as they were typically wider, whereas the 190mm bodies were for electric chassis. i havent played with RC for a long time but have tried to get back into it during the pandemic, I even found my old HPI MT2 G3.0 in my parents garage, all busted up because i ran it into a fence years ago and lost motivation. i'll fix it now that i've seen your channel ;) keep up the great work, really enjoying this throwback content.
hey my dude! Thanks for watching! Lets get those old HPI nitro restored and tuning, this would make the Nitrogang happy!>..I've got some great videos on the MT2 with the G3.0 btw, mine hit a top speed of 50 MPH, can you believe that!!! Crazy high speeds for a stock nitro right.
@@hybrid32494 I saw that video last night and I was blown away how fast it can go. I dont think I ever maxed mine out due to only running offroad and lack of space. That video really motivated me to search for parts maybe a new radio as well hahah hope I can get it back on the road soon. I even have the original box for it , glad it hasn't been thrown out. I think I might get the hpi Ken block wr8 nitro as the super nitro rally is super rare.. always wanted one
hey brother!! You said it! Exactly, the MT2 is one of the best unsung heroes of the 1/10 stadium truck class. In fact I have an mt2 G3.0 model that hit 50 MPH fully stock. Nuts right!.
Great video and brief history on the Hpi catalog. I agree Hpi should bring back the Super nitro & Super Rs4 EP. Always had a feeling these would reach collector status best times in RC on road.
hey my dude! I'm glad you agree! Yes, we need the entire super nitro segment to come back, I think the time for on-road is here. Arrma is selling the larger on-road cars, so why not HPI, right? And yes, the original super nitros are collector level cars these days. FInding wheels for them is tough these days too.
thanks for watching man! Lets make 2021 the year of Nitro. I'm sure getting your old nitro running is very rewarding, I know it is for me. Totally different from running a plug N play electric, you know.
hey my dude! The Nitro On-road gang will be going strong for 2021, we will be resurrecting the long forgotten greatness of the Super Nitro. I may even call up HPI and pretend to place an order for one, lets see what they say, ahaha.
Yeah man that would be awesome for HPI to bring back. I would love to have the rally edition. Mine first rc was a HPI savage 25s got it used it was a pain but man every time I got it running it was amazing. Best truck I ever had. Great video like always can't wait to see your HPI collection
Hey my fellow HPI Nitro Fan! you the man!, thank you for supporting the Nitrogang bro. The savage 25 was awesome for the time, and still is today. I wish they returned the Super nitro Rally, but with a modern shaft drive system and the g3.0 motor. That would be the ultimate rc right there.
hey man! Thanks for watching and your support. I remember back when the HPI Sprint series came out, at that time I was contemplating getting the PRO 3, and still used to own the Pro 3. Actually I may pick up a used TC3, those were the SHit back then.
hey man! You're becoming the youngest Nitrogang Guru over here, so this was some useful HPI history right here for you. At least we currently have the savage X 4.6 being made, of course it's not 5.9, but it's better than nothing.
I picked up a proceed last year. Always wanted one back in the day. It needs a little work, but in pretty good shape. I really need to find the stock body for it.
whats up bro!! PROCEED baby!!! I'd call that the top notch of HPI's legendary on-road success right there. Super rare RC. I'm sure it's not a piece of cake to work with due to it's specialization and rarity. ALSo finding a body is probably a problem. Nitrogang is happy for you bro.
@@hybrid32494 I doubt I'll be able to find a body for it. I'll just get it fixed up and find a good GP body for it. There's not many parts out there left for them either, so I probably won't run it much.
@@twinturbotony93 most likely you're right. The damn RC bodies r the biggest rip-off in this hobby. PIsses me off because a molded piece of lexan should not cost as much as a cheap new nitro motor.
thats is a good point!! Bringing back a new nitro would definitely reduce the prices on current parts, you 100% right. My idea super nitro would be built with a modern shaft drive system, I wonder if they can help the nitrogang out!!..
I really love all the knowledge you bring in these videos! Your passion on the subject definitely shines through! Oh, and I'm close to getting that hsp 1/8 nitro sc! Got rid of my revo because the constant problems, and I'm going to try that one based on what I seen on your channel...thanks! And keep it coming bro!
This is a great walk through the early 2000's. 2002 is when I really got into nitro and been stuck on it ever since. Xmas of 2019 I wanted the Nitro Firestorm and sold out everywhere so I got the Nitro Rustler Which I'm very happy with. Now the Firestorm is discontinued. Figures I just got a mint Firestorm Flux from eBay. I like to stock up on parts but can't find a spur gear at all.
hey bro! Yes, the 2000's were awesome for HPI and all of the RC Hobby overall. Anyway, trust me, you got lucky not getting the Nitro Firestorm, no parts for them and the metal diff cups HPI use, are terrible. The Nitro Rustler is the way to go, it's basically all the same 1/10 2WD stadium truck chassis anyway, therefore the nitro rustler will give you less of a headache. BTW the nitro slash is build on the extend rustler chassis and with a 3.3.
The Racer 2 was a kit. My first HPI was the original Nitro RS4. I upgraded it with a CVec pipe, a 2 spd and a heatsink head. Then I built the NitroRS4-2 kit that I spec'd out beyond the Racer-2 with a Paris Pipe and a Nova Rossi .12. I liked the CVec, but it wasn't legal for IFMAR races. And the Proceed was an awesome car. They tried to compete with Serpent.
Man I miss both of my super nitro rs4s. I used to run them with Kyosho supertens and Serpent Impact m2. That nitro mini with the Honda Civic body was sick.. It was great on small tracks. Good old days!
whats up my dude! I see you really know your Nitro RCs, I'm glad to have an nitro guru like you here. I wish I never sold my awesome hip nitro mini, that thing was fantastic, as you already know. There is one on eBay right now for crazy money. Honda Civic body 4 life yo!!!.
@@hybrid32494 hahaa I am just a fan but nowhere near guru level. You know way more than me. I think someone saw your video and bought that Honda Civic rs4 mini🙂. I really hope Hpi is watching your videos and bring back some oldies. I still have the R40 sitting in a box and would love to run it freely one day. Funny I was going through my old stash and found the exact 2002 catalog. Thanks for making these videos, it brings back some pretty good memories.
man, that catalog is sick! HPI sure had a lot of cool stuff, I'm glad they're back. I have the Nissan GTR R35 electric RTR, but I'm saving up to buy a nice RS4 nitro 1970 Plymouth HEMI Cuda
hey dude, thanks for watching! I recently purchased the newest official HPI catalog (last one ever made from 2016). I will review that soon. Any nitro is fun, I highly recommend you stick with something new where you could get parts in needed, I present these vintage RCs from a collectors point of view, but if you're not heavily invested and this is your first nitro, try to learn the hobby with a new RC. Trust me, less problems in the long run. I always point things out as they are, you know.
thanks for watching man! Yup, those were some terrific RCs back in those years, especially the larger on-road segment like the Super Nitro RS4 and the Super Nitro Rally, that's what we need. So far we got the savage x 4.6, some buggies and the bullet series being made.
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the account password. I love any help you can give me.
@Shepard Princeton Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
you're 100% right about that!! It's a fair 70% nitro and 30% electric distribution of RCs, lol, the way it needs to be. See the NItrogang is fair, hhhaa. BTW the newest issue of RC CAR ACTION is getting grilled again soon.
back in the day at my local track there were big races against 1/10 touring RTR. Thunder tiger, ofna, HPI, kyosho, carson etc etc You could hear engines roar from 8.30 in the morning all day long. All a bunch of new guys racing against the professionals, sometimes there was about 20/30 cars on the track at the same time! But everyting is gone now...it is a sad thing nowadays the 1/10 touring RTR segment disappeared :(
hey man! I'm happy to hear that bro. Make sure to leave me a comment on any newer video with how you like it when you get it. I'll probably include the comment in a video.
Great video Dmitri as always brother keep up the great work!!! My 36 TMR engine is 8 Hp or better!!! Takes a lot to move a 35 pound RC car lol 😝 I got to get me one of them nitros in between buying parts for my 5th Scale‘s for sure brother!!! Hpi is what I will probably get and I’ll probably be looking to see if you have any coupons available. Great watch my brother!!!
hey my dude! Unfortunately I'm not affiliated with HPI or their distributor in any way. No coupons for them, that means. Sucks I know. Yes that TMR engine is serious stuff, I've seen you ripping it really good.
hey bro! I know you totally remember those sick looking HPI bodies, that's what made HPI a big hit back then. Lets hope the super nitro comes back, that would make 2021 the best year of Nitro.
OMG, you lost the most awesome HPI ever bro, I'm sorry to hear that. BTW my basement was flooded with 2-3 feet of water also in Sandy, I had to carry all my RC shit to a higher level and pray they were ok. After I had to replace all the lower sheetrock, FEMA did not cover anything.
@@hybrid32494 yeah my parents went through the same ordeal. When I asked about my rc cars, they said nothing was salvageable. I'm out in CA or else I would have saved them. It was the super rally with evo body, and a rs4 nitro. Yeah nitro all my RC life.
hey bro! I will promise to Make that HPI collection video for you, in fact I will include this comment in there so the Nitrogang knows who made the request.. Right now, it's between the mad crusher and this savage, it's a toss-up. I'll do a poll, and that will be it.
Oh yes man HPI is still one of the best rc companies I had a HPI evo rush that was my first rc nitro t15 engine very good rc nitro car quite fast and very reliable .
hey my dude!! SAVAGE 4 Ever! I totally agree. I'm beginning to hear many people saying their hobby stores are stocking the new savage, this is good news. Its coming along. I recently purchased a brand new complete diff for an HPI trophy Truggy, so the parts resellers are probably buying them all up.
Happy new year nitro gang thanks for sharing can’t wait to see them on the shelves electronic esavage on a 8s the rest nitro super nitro special addition 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
hey bro! Happy new Year to you too! Yes, what we need is some nice Nitro On-road that are not buggies or the overpriced Serpent kits. Anyway, it looks like the HPI Savage Flux is coming back too.
My first nitro rc car was a Kyosho V-one S with the chevrolet corvette c5-R body. I just got it running again, still love it. Also I still love the corvette c5, I i am looking for a c5 Z06 for a weekend car, but they are hard to find in the Netherlands/Europe.
What does .12 or .18 mean on a nitro engine I’ve had my RS4MT since it was released 10 hours to put it together I couldn’t wait to get home from school to put it together I still have it today same brushless sensored system so fast and quiet
hey man! Good question about the .12 or .18 engine sizes. Basically it's the Cubic Inch Displacement. The confusing part is many companies like traxxas will call their engines 2.5 & 3.3. In reality the TRX 2.5 is a .15 size motor. You can google the conversion. For example the HPI G3.0 is a .18 size motor. It's CC in CI conversion at it's core. So we got the same RS4 MT, then. Awesome bro! Never sell that either.
thanks man!! Glad you can appreciate the classisms super nitro rs4!, it's a class to it's own, really nothing like it on the market ever. IF you think about about the true 1/8 scale on-roads are usually just buggies, or the very expensive serpent or mugen cars. But really no budget RTR larger on-road.
hey my dude! Awesome, that thing is definitely a good looking rc. BTW I have a HPI Trophy Truggy Flux, just fixed the diff. Always diff problems on all my electrics, lol.
Too much instant power, your diffs were designed for nitro power not brushless power its instant power nitros take time to spool up! IF YOU ONLY HAD A CLUE!!!
@@hybrid32494 I watch all of your videos bro, I'm from NY myself and I am big into vintage nitro rc. About to buy a nitro rustler and make it a street machine! Would ideally like to do it with a jato, but they're near impossible to find for sale
Tamiya TT02 kit has a Subaru STi body, both the old 22b (classic) and new (2015+) body styles. Pretty cheap, but they come with bushings not bearings. The bearing kits cost like $200.
hey bro! you're right and I'm fully aware of the Tamiya kits. The reason I mostly like the Super Nitro Rally is because they are substantially larger and are actually very off-road capable. Meanwhile the tt-02 chassis is just a basic plastic tub chassis with a cool body, you know what I'm saying. Both have their place, but Tamiya cannot replace the experience of the super nitro rally.
@@hybrid32494 I have two that I got on a trade but they were totally trashed but I got 2 chassis’ and two motors so I got spares lol. Keep doing you brother! Your channel is badass! If it wasn’t for you I would have never have gotten a nitro!
whats ups my dude! GAS is Great! There is no denying that! I've got a couple 1/5 gas RCs too, did you see my videos on them? I dragged around a tree, drove over myself, did crazy stuff, and nothing broke!.
@@hybrid32494 yeah i saw those. But thus is bringing back memories. Got my 1st Nitro back in 1993. I've had 3 RC10 GT's, 2 Jatos, a T-Maxx, 2 Savage X's, 2 RS42's, and a Losi Ten-T. Might go for another Jason. Who knows.
hey my fellow Super Nitro Brother!! Right on! I'm glad you can confirm the awesome superiority of the super nitro rs4, this is one of the cars we need to come back.
hey buddy, thats an awesome RC, the nitro rush evo, I even love the name of that thing. You can't kill an old nitro, am I right or what!!!! ahah. BTW I had my stock nitro MT2 with the g3.0 engine up to 50 MPH. crazy speed for a single speed nitro rc.
thanks my dude! Nothing like a vintage HPI catalog and the marketing thy had back then, they always made you want to buy more RCs, lol. Meanwhile today's RC mags make me want to eat a toasted bagel, lol.
hey bro!, YES, that is the big choice right here. At this point they are both unavailable. I diffidently want to yell 3-speed BABY! Plus since I already have a savage XL getting a savage x is a level down. Only cool bc it's new.
whats my bro! You the Real HPI MT Gang over here, lol. I got 2 nitro Mt's at this point. Anyway, the racer model looks very cool, unfortunately I don't recall them even being popular, it was mostly just the RTR models being sold. I can't recall the last time I saw a racer model on eBay. Nitrogang!!>
@@hybrid32494 the racer model was indeed super rare as most racers use 2wd stadium truck rather than 4wd which never took off. I'll have to do a video on it for the nitrogang once the weather is better.
i want the god dam "RS4 NITRO DRIFT" back on the shelf ! if not i build my own mid engine chassis with universal nitro engine options, now that we're here i got the NITRO STAR 15FE and HPI 12R SS racing engine both in mint condition took them out the cars and run HSP vertex 18 engines in them $60 a piece from walmart
hey bro!, yes, you're right. SO far a few people have told me that. Great engine for the specs, and for an HPI at that time this was insane. Too bad traxxas never had a partnership with any other engine brands to produce such top spec stuff.
HPI coming back? I will believe it when I see it. I know they are back to a certain extent in Europe but they will have a big up hill battle in the U.S. I have a Savage XL I have totally rebuilt but having a big problem finding the 5.9 engine and a XL body. Yes they show up on eBay once in awhile but the prices are robbery. I’m a big fan of HPI but I have my doubts about a strong comeback.
BRO, I knew you would love the A4 Avant body! I mentioned it specifically for you, btw. You know, back then people did not have that many RCs, it was mostly under 5 for most people, not like today. Each RC back then was worth something and highly sought after, not a WL Toys, it was serious shit! lol. I remember being extremely happy with just 2 RCs, that's all you needed.
@@hybrid32494 Heck yeah brotha you know I love my audis! Im actually gonna look for one! That be sick to find one. Yeah I agree about the rcs back then. I wish I was into it growing up but I was never introduced to it. Wish I got into hobby grade in my teens
how you hold this 18-year-old magazine that shows your passion about nitro RC ..soon I upload one nitro video I got one 9-year-old HIMOTO nitro RC road car with SH28 engine
hey man! To be honest with you, I've never had to purchase any parts for any of my vintage RCs. I do my best to but them complete and not destroy or crash them, you know. Generally for older RCs at this point you need to find a cheap parts chassis you can strip for parts, that's what it comes down to.
@@hybrid32494 ya that's usually what I do. Bit I'm trying as hard as I can to get this part as soon as possible . And I'm reading some forums saying the rs4 3 lower arm mount is the same so I'm hoping it matches up
whats up man! Yes, that HPI .12 engine is surely the ultimate HPI Trophy Engine at this point. IT seems the entire nitro RC hobby is slowly phasing out all small-block motors, been going on for years. Only the big-block nitros are left at this point.
@@hybrid32494 oh yeah I'm a collector of vintage on road nitros. engines are getting harder and harder to find, so I hunt eBay nearly everyday looking for the next deal. With almost 20 vintage nitro rc cars and more on the way I think it's safe to say that I'm Nitro Gang all day!
hey my bro! I almost got myself a prelude Type SH back in the day, I wound up getting a 2000 INtegra GSR, also a terrific car. I would prefer the prelude though, cause the damn GSR was rough as shit, and would run 3K RPM at 60 MPH>.
infect petrol is the way forward i love my savage x 4.6 but my 1/5 petrol baja runs better much less tuning needed more POWER and more fun also easer to work on
hey buddy! Yes, I've seen many of the Salesmen RUclipsrs on here with those Toyan engines. Thing is, I'm not a crawler type of guy, most of them are put into crawlers or scale RCs because these Toyan engines produce less power than a vintage OS 12 engine, lol, and also low RPM. They would not last a minute for a basic nitro on-road car. Plus, it's too much money for me.
so far it's all good news bro! I have many people telling me they are finding new HPI Savage trucks in their hobby stores.
Hopefully they bring the super nitro back so prices can go down on parts. I love all the truck 1/10 bodies.
thats is a good point!!
Great to hear that hpi will be back in the market soon, can't wait to order parts for the savage x4.6!
Yes.. I've been eyeballing the Slash 3.3.
Loving the Super nitro :) Great walk through of the catalog :)
man, that catalog is sick!
Thanks for the tip, maybe that Cuda will be my shelf queen, and probably I'll buy a more recent nitro, keep making these awesome videos!
Man, Thanks for covering all that. If hey bring that back I’m all in. I missed out on old stuff. 👍
thanks for watching man!
@Jayce Jaime instablaster =)
@Shepard Princeton Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Shepard Princeton It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
That catalog will NEVER deserve the grill!!!😂😂
you're 100% right about that!! It's a fair 70% nitro and 30% electric distribution of RCs, lol, the way it needs to be. See the NItrogang is fair, hhhaa. BTW the newest issue of RC CAR ACTION is getting grilled again soon.
This was an epic video for the nitrogang. The super rs4 looks super. I just looked on ebay and people are selling these free catalogues for £25+ lol
back in the day at my local track there were big races against 1/10 touring RTR. Thunder tiger, ofna, HPI, kyosho, carson etc etc You could hear engines roar from 8.30 in the morning all day long. All a bunch of new guys racing against the professionals, sometimes there was about 20/30 cars on the track at the same time!
But everyting is gone now...it is a sad thing nowadays the 1/10 touring RTR segment disappeared :(
Gonna pick up a savage as soon as the pop up at the local hobby shop
hey man! I'm happy to hear that bro. Make sure to leave me a comment on any newer video with how you like it when you get it. I'll probably include the comment in a video.

Bless you, bored waiting for the wildcard round to start. Needed this.
you got it bro!! Hope you enjoyed this Vintage themed Nitro video, lol. Nothing like an old HPI catalog, back they their marketing was top notch.
Hpi is the best, those bodies I can look at them all day!!! 🤗🤗🤗 HPI COME BACK WE NEED ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL NITRO'S BACK!
hey bro! I know you totally remember those sick looking HPI bodies, that's what made HPI a big hit back then. Lets hope the super nitro comes back, that would make 2021 the best year of Nitro.
Facts 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
I had a super nitro rally as my first nitro, parents basement flooded in hurricane sandy and was tossed. Sad times
Yeah nitro all my RC life.
feels bad man. I wish I could've helped somehow.

I recently purchased a brand new complete diff for an HPI trophy Truggy, so the parts resellers are probably buying them all up.

I can’t wait these are 🤩
hey bro! Glad you liked this video. Imagine how nice owning a super nitro rally would have been years ago, I would call it my ultimate HPI Dream RC.
What does .12 or .18 mean on a nitro engine
I’ve had my RS4MT since it was released 10 hours to put it together I couldn’t wait to get home from school to put it together I still have it today same brushless sensored system so fast and quiet
Love it!!! The super rs4 looks sick af
thanks man!!
I just bought a 4.6 trophy truggy from HRP because of your last video!
hey my dude!
Yeah go for it! You can get new Savage 4.6. I remember that catalog, HPI had made so many RCs!

.21 style big bore carb
hey bro!, yes, you're right.
Bro I want that a4 avant body!!!! Imagine if this magazine was from today. Id be the biggest nitro head and also be dirt broke lol
@Hybrid2494. Where do you buy all your nitro Rs4 parts? Every time I look nobody has what I need IM usually buying for a super nitro
hey man! To be honest with you, I've never had to purchase any parts for any of my vintage RCs. I do my best to but them complete and not destroy or crash them, you know. Generally for older RCs at this point you need to find a cheap parts chassis you can strip for parts, that's what it comes down to.
