The guy in the blue shirt should be arrested. We need a new law for this. He was holding up the line because his delay caused others from evacuating the plane. American should ban him from
flying on American.
No only that, his son opened the rear door after being expressly told not to by a flight attendant.

His family also did not get permission to open an aircraft door, but defied FA orders and his sons opened the door anyway to dispose of it. You know how many potential dangers that could have occurred from that?
Because he is German/swiss/austrian. Not sure from where exactly. I am German and some of the people in my part of the world are the most entitled a**holes in the world.

This is all deeply concerning.
I fly with a lot of medical equipment and medication. Often, I have camera equipment and a laptop in my personal item. In the event of an evacuation, my passport and phone are in my pockets, my smartwatch is on my wrist, and everything else stays on the plane.
If my possessions are damaged, destroyed or stolen, I claim on my insurance. Before going to the airport, I back up the data on the cameras and laptop to an SSD in my pocket and, if possible, the cloud. Even the medical equipment and medication can be replaced if necessary. My life cannot be replaced.
Thank you for not using disability as an excuse to put the lives of others in danger.
@@wonderfulkitty There is no excuse at all in these circumstances. Everyone's actions directly influence the safety of others. The evacuation advice is written in blood; previous disasters tell us how important rapid evacuation can be in these circumstances.
Disability entitles someone to reasonable adjustments (adopting the language of the UK's Equality Act 2010), but not to impinge unnecessarily upon other people's safety and security. In an evacuation, I am more likely to hold back and let others get out than to get in people's way while I struggle to escape with my mobility problems. However, I will do my best to escape in a timely manner, knowing that others will have to put their lives at risk to try to rescue me if I delay unnecessarily.

I think it was Nashville several years ago there was video of an Evan in which several died, and there's this one girl standing in the door at the slide with her cello! Who DIDN'T make it to the door because of her? Hope she got arrested.
I commented on the Japanese Airline that collided with Coast Guard jet. The passengers evacuated quickly without grabbing their bags before the aircraft caught fire.
I commented had that happened in the US there would be multiple fatalities because too many folks would grab their bags and prevent a hasty exit.

Dear lord, now I’m really terrified to fly. A plane is supposed to be able to be evacuated within 90 seconds. These people would all be dead if it was a worse fire. They need to make it a federal crime to try and take your bag during an evacuation.
30+ years in the airlines. Leave your crap behind, wear pants, no pantyhose, wear shoes, count the # of seats between you and the exit (smoke), seat belt ON unless you need to stand up, go over seat backs when needed and listen to the flight attendants as they have practiced evacuations more than anyone.

Aren't there Air Marshalls on the aircraft? I wonder how many of these people are allowed to still travel by plane. It would be irresponsible for an airline to allow proven problematic elements to endanger the other passengers

That exit was rendered unusable after the Austrian guy defied orders from the flight attendants, opened that door, and threw a backpack out with the runaway battery, which is extremely dangerous.
@OwlRTA I was going to say there s definitely a reason even if we don't know it. They would disallow people to leave via it unless something was wrong.

Telling people to not get their bags will always result in people getting their bags. People always know better.
