I think they're just demonstrating how good Cryo Grenade is. Still used 1/4 of his grenades (they used 2/8 boomerangs) and yet killed all the mactera MUCH faster.

One thing it _actually_ hard counters is web spitters. You often get like half a dozen or more scattered on the ceilings high above, but the boomerang has the range to reach them anyway, bouncing from one to another no matter how spread out they are and killing them off in one hit with the electric DoT

The only reason I was using boomerang before was because the stun makes freezing things with cryo minelets really easy. Then I realized that the stun upgrade on the m1000 does the same thing without using my grenade slot.
The boomerang gets often compared to the cryo grenade or IFG in situations where these grenades shine, like this one, and then it looks weak of course. A large number of clumped up targets in front of you isn't the intended use case for a throwable whose strength lies in its overall versatility and extreme range.
@@gagooooooooooooooo That's fair. It's actually a pretty strong counter against small flyers though, there's no better grenade to go up against a shredder swarm which is no joke on haz 5. Don't know why some people try to make it sound like it's a better cryo, which it absolutely isn't.
I need to express my disappointment as a fellow dwarf, we just got a golden detonator AND I brought the lobby pots of gold before we launched. We managed to get it to blow up in a decent spot too, got at least 3/4 of the golden orb. The host was a level 500 something and insisted we speed though the mission for XP. I tried to reason with him that I wanted to mine the golden orb but he wasn’t having any of it. I could feel the kick coming but what could I do? And there it was, kicked for ‘I have my reasons’… I’ve never had a golden bulk with pots of gold before, it’s incredibly rare and something I’ve wanted since learning golden detonators exist. I finally got them both consecutively and this happens. I know this community is amazing but I must express my hatred towards this dirty rotten gold hating leaf lover!! It’s fine if you don’t want to help mine the gold but at least let me do it!

I tried to give it a watch but I eventually tuned out because I’m a simple dwarf that mines whatever resource vein is in sight. The only time I skip gold is during deep dives where the XP gains is constant no matter what.
For a tiny amount while the soon to be new buffed tranquilizer rounds for subata might be plenty better with a simple slow down, slow down effects are the best at keeping bulks at bay, or a gunner shield.
Boomerang is better if you need more versatility. Personally I prefer running it if Im going to Dense Biozone or Glacial Strata because you get a lot of Naedocytes down there, and having just for grenades which you can fumble on a panic throw isnt as useful as eight boomerangs that are GUARANTEED to hit 8 targets.
People ignore the fact that the boomerang has an extremely long range throw compared to the other grenades, so you can use it to save teammates far away when your grappling hook is on cooldown.
@@digital-black As scout, you cannot kill a swarm as fast as the other classes. So go ahead and shoot the bug, while your teammates get downed by the other bugs.
@@galact1cphantom824 I still think "kill the bug" is a better option than stunning 4 bugs and letting the other 17 swarm your defenseless teammate, as the other option requires you to have a boomerang. Even after your teammate gets downed any other nade is better than slowly stunning 8 bugs one by one.
@@digital-black Youre using it wrong, throw the boomerang and stun 9 bugs which is actually pretty fast, while you focus on killing the bugs that weren't stunned. And you're ignoring the scenario of my original comment where the other grenades would not be able to reach your teammates when your grappling hook is on cooldown, since Scout is usually far away from other team members.

I didn't even touch on the strategy with this "flying tazer on a stick WHICH YOU GET 8 OF WOHOO!" and you've already told me I'm using it wrong. Whenever I used it I thought to myself "Where the hell are my IFGs". Every other nade can do what boomerang does and more and doesn't feel like drinking hotdog water, if the range is the main upside when your grapple is on cooldown then build it for max recharge.
People dont understand the use of the voltaic. Not every weapon needs to kill things. The voltaic has many uses the other grenades dont. It covers a wide area of enemies with a stun. It stun lasts quite a long time. It stun just about everything except dreadnaughts, colussus and horrors. It can be thrown behind or beside you to cover your flank or if you are getting swarmed, or at a teamate to give them more breathing room when they are swarmed. And most importantly its great for those annoying nanocyte and swarmers because itll kill them in one hit and take out most of them. What it doesnt have in damage it makes up for in utility.
yes it's unfortunate there is no other scout grenade that can 1 shot small enemies, cover a wide area in a status effect, cover your flank with a status effect, apply a status effect to a dread and bulk or save your teammates and yourself
Here the cryo grenade is God tier but personally I never ever see clusters like this unless its an elite deeply dive I usually just use the boomerang for the stun , multi hit and throw and forget aspect of it
Pheromones are equally good as well, especially on hazard 5 when you're likely to encounter a sea of bugs like that. My fave thing to do is get a horde all nice and grouped up with Phero so my Driller can get all cheerful and excited to blow em all up at once c: A big fat ROCK AND STONE, TO THE BONE!
@@imcrowned2929 Only if macteras. For regular bugs, it only freezes them in place, away from each others. Pheromones makes them gather very tight and damage each other. Which means Pheromones pair disgustingly well with a melee power attack (with damage upgrade) or a Blowthrough M1000 (non Hipster OC). Just throw the nade in the middle of the pack, wait for them to gather up, and kill the entire swarm with just one clip (works even for Haz 4, btw) And besides, Pheromones redirect the damage of some of the most damaging enemies (all sorts of macteras, exploders (particularly bulks), praetorian, oppressors, etc) onto the swarm. I've had exploders and oppressors clearing the swarm themselves more than I can count them. I also works just as well as Cryo to deal with swarmers. Pheromones are criminally underrated. But everyone and their mother just coom for what is genuinely one of Scout's worst grenade (even IFG is better) because it ONE specific case where it's the better option. Otherwise either Pheromones or IFG will give you better results. If you STILL want Cryos on top of actually picking usefull grenades like Phero or IFG, just pick Bosco's cryo rockets upgrade. It's literally the same thing as the Cryos, but without accidentally freezing yourself, and having technically infinite ammo.
@@drucy. wdym even IFG. It is second if not the best scout's nade. Slowdown that works on everything, 30 increased damage and electricity status that, once again, affects everything. Tho they are not as good at dealing with hoards, IFGs are best against smaller waves, big boys and in narrow points. Cryo is trash.
@@MarkNapalmov I never said IFGs are bad. On the contrary they make very short work of Dreadnoughts, Oppressors, or any target with big health pool, for that mater. And they're still effective against swarms if you can place yourself in a narrow corridor to great them. IFGs are nothing to scoff at, just like Pheromones. IFG excels at damage amplification and give moderate crowd-control, while the Pheromones excels at crowd-control while redirecting damage onto the enemy. Different grenades for different purposes. Both good. I just hate how people pretend that Cryos are any good (or hell, even "the best") when they're only the better option against macteras... and that's it. Like I said, Pheromones will also cover the swarmers problem so it's not even something that is unique to the Cryo. And Pheromones work better as an "Oh shit ! Swarm circling me !" button because you don't risk freezing yourself. You can literally just pick cryo rockets for Bosco and your Cryo grenades becomes obselete and redundant.

I can say, when the ground and walls are bustling and start crawling towards you at an alarming speed like a tsunami of screeching chitin, pheromones have saved my beard more times than cryo has in 4 player haz 5, especially on point extraction. And besides why take cryo nades when I have cryo minelets on my zhukov's. I get way more uses outta them anyways in the long run, vs the 4 grenades I'd have, plus _potentially_ accidentally whiffing and waste in the frantic chaos. Not only does it give me breathing room to possibly rez a teammate, but they kill each other so I don't have to waste ammo AND it benefits my team bc less bugs are biting them too, and like I said, my gunners and drillers really appreciate it when I get all the fish in the barrel for them. Criminally underrated. Oh and also, cryo grenades are less effective on bigger targets and certain biomes like magma core and glacial strata, where they simply thaw out quicker from the environment or are frost resistant thank to their adaptations., respectively. Whereas pheromones don't have such weakness. Heck, they even work on robots! For... some reason. Yet cryo is just terrible vs those even with the recent buff. They're definitely overrated. Now, I won't go without saying THEY DO have their uses, like as mentioned earlier, vs mactera swarms and swarmer... swarms. Even reducing the devastation caused by bulks. But that's about where it ends bc it's just not as efficient as the other choice for the rest of the bugs. As an element, Fire basically outclasses frost in every way. Robots are devastatingly weak to it, macteras are weak to it, it can instantly wipe out hordes of swarmers, and many POWERFUL builds pretty much revolve around it...
It's not that Sweepers are bad, Cryo is just too fucking good of a grenade. Like Driller's Ripper, it is just outshined by the sheer utility and damage of Impact Axe
Personnally, I have too much fun redirecting the macteras' damage onto the swarm (or each other) with Pheromones. It's amazing how quickly they cut through the swarm for you. The 15 seconds Pheromones last is more than enough time.
ice granade best granade, it can instally kill mackteras and make praetorians die with two shogun rounds + the freeze everything else around it to allow you to aim without hurry.
You can waste a boomerang more freely in a sitation where you need to focus down something, you can easily stun opressor or several bugs/maktera moving on you cause you have 8 and they auto-aim. I think its the best panic button for scout cause it will save you (or teammate) from anything very fast and with minimal aim. not as effective for long-term control as other grenades nor kill potential, but wins at reaction speed, range and ammunition. also stunnining menaces for 10 seconds is good
I still think just due to ammo count that Stun Sweeper is the best grenade in the game for getting revive. Cryo and Pheromone are pretty good too but Stun Sweeper just gets so much value despite costing so little of your reserves. The downside of "it won't kill anything" is such a non-issue when Scout shouldn't be dealing with swarms anyway.

Sure, but this is a bit disingenuous. Even at H5 with mactera swarm you don't get swarms this big, 90% of the time you get groups of 3-5 mactera, and using 1 cryo grenade is a waste, whereas stun sweeper will still do a decent job for HALF the cost, and it will also stun some nearby bugs. I swear people just ignore the fact that you get 8 of these on purpose lol, it's such a good tool for killing small enemies like swarmers/shredders, stuning bugs for a revive, slowing detonators, etc. Obviously it doesn't perform that well into big hordes, but since when is it the Scout's job to take care of the grunts?
think it's pretty reasonable for a mactera plague swarm, as the title suggests, and using 2 boomerangs for a swarm that size uses the same amount of your nade supply as 1 cryo so 8 isn't a very good argument

GSG needs to make the stun sweeper recharge. One throw every 10 seconds (after it returns) might be a bit much but I feel that there is a nice balance that can be found by tweaking numbers. If they recharged like flares that might be a good starting point.

And the second you throw 2 one phero grenade, ESPECIALLY if paired with fire or cryo bolts will do the job better. If you are having issue with swarmers, use fire or cryo bolts and plant two or three in the ground around you move through that area and it will kill every single swarmer. If you had at least pointed to naedocite or rival shredders... (That last one I find actually viable. Not optimal but best for ease of use)
this sure is an example of how good it can be, but you were prepared, you knew where the mactera where spawning, and you had all the right conditionings to get a lot of value out of one cryo. In a real game this may not be always the case and they may be apart from each other that you dont get them all with a cryo, so sometimes the boomerang can be a comfortable choice for some *i cant aim grenades at tense situations *
yeah it's obviously not possible to accurately test it without doing a ton of mactera plague missions with each and recording everything but i think it's a fairly normal swarm representation, as for them being apart i think the mactera on the left at 0:47 shows the aoe is quite generous
Ok but the alternative is toss a boomer-ange and shoot as many as you can... while there are no less than 3 acid spitters, 2 pretorians, a stabby grunt and 8 normal grunts all trying to rename you to "Carl". (and 1 Steve)
also a great exaple of how good it can be is taht basically every driller uses cryo why? because it completely strips enemy armor for the duration they are frozen and for cryo grenades it is the same but compared to cryo gun grenades freeze instantly and because scouts single target dmg is great with the right build with one cryo grenade you could probably get about 3-4 praetorians or opressors and i think that shows just how usefull they are in normal situations as well

Pheromones are better in multi. Gives you and your team some breathing room (relocate some aggro) while the bugs damage each others. Also redirect the damage from the actually damaging enemies onto the swarm instead of you.
A boomerang is more suitable for controlling a crowd of bugs or a swarm of slicer drones, and a freezing grenade is more suitable for spot freezing or quickly killing bosses.
Honestly, the boomerang nade is something you would like to go with over all else scout's grenades in only a few situations, and i can hardly think of 2 situations. The only mission type where i would prefer to bring boomerang over any other grenade, is sabotage, and it's only because of shredder swarms. For any other situation, any other scout's grenades is better at anything. Now, yeah it looks cool, but being limited to one boomerang at a time that can only hit 9 random targets does not make it a really good choice for highest difficulties. In haz 4/5 the mobs will always be too numerous for it to be really worth it. IFGs and cryo nades will 95% of the time be better at anything, even phero nades are better for crowd control. Actually Boomerang is kind of bad for swarms control, it's only good against small groups of enemies. They need some kind of rework to be as worth as any other scout grenade.
Shredders yes, it's the only real effective point of bringing boomerang instead of anything else. Swarmers? Bruh! Let them come close to you, and once they're pretty much packed, just throw a cryo nade and they're all instantly gone. Anyway you have many options to kill swarmers( or grunts) quick with scout: Fire/Ice OC for the boltshark( or electric bolts), cryo minelets for the zukhovs, shockwave upgrade for the boomstick, bouncy bullets for the drak( with aoe damage of course) and even pheromones: just apply pheroes on some medium/big enemies, and let swarmers go kamikaze on them. Also: pickaxe like a real dwarf! :D
Just want to point out that you can kill 72 total swarmers with all 8 stun sweepers... And it takes a while to do it too. 1 Pheromone nade can comfortably kill >30 swarmers and stops all of them (and any other bugs) in your vicinity immediately. Killing shredder drones is the only non-negligible upside I can see for the boomerangs over scouts other grenades.
@@meekumanu Well, considering you only have 4 cryo nades at once, it sure is'nt the most economic option, but still ultra effective, way better than boomerang. Many better options have been suggested already, one of the most ammo efficient being the fire boltshark imo, way too easy to get rid of them quick while reviving a mate
On multiplayer difficulty there's way more than 8 enemies on someone's body, pheromones or cyro would guarantee a revive with 20+ bugs on someone's body. Even an ifg with blowthrough rounds on the m1000 would do better.

not really imo, there's the 8 carried argument but you're getting 8 weaker grenades with spotty targetting instead of 4/6 strong nades reliant on how you use them gk2 at base and m1000 with the mod are both able to stun as well which leaves drak, i've had the most use out of the stun there since you have a harder time dealing with long range menaces etc but the damage potential for cryo & ifg is still huge
I like to use the boomerang and the secondary sub machine guns with the conductive bullets mod It does 33% more damage to electrified targets. Add the blowthrough rounds and quickfire ejector mods making it easy to clear a big cluster of grunts in seconds, it’s really good at area denial.
@@notsotrvgic9104 But IFGs do the same thing and more effectively at that with the inherent 30% more damage debuff. Sure the boomerang can be useful but as of now they are an inferior option to Scouts other nades. Edit: Forgot to mention but IFGs also count as electrified with the slow but you can also stack another electrified status effect for even more damage not just with the dot but to proc conductive bullets as well.
You get double the instances of grenade use with the boomerangs. In actual practice it’s far more useful than one would expect from the hypothetical scenario of the video. Boomerang is also more effective against medium sized enemies that don’t get frozen by one grenade, like praetorians. Personally, I’ve transitioned over to rangs from cryo. I primarily play haz5 for reference. Of course, it’s best to simply try it for yourself and decide.

@@fizzlock Hurricane is fun, but lacks DPS compared to the other 2. I find that the minigun is better against single targets while the thunderheads rips through crowds, but both are pretty general purpose overall, especially when paired with the right secondary.
@@jojomaster7675 Also depending on the overclocks. Bullet hell on minigun is good crowd control, big Bertha on auto cannon sort of evens it out into really high direct damage but still decent crowd control.

I don't generally have a problem with the DPS, but that's when playing duo with a Scout to light up the room range for me, so I can get rid of things long before they reach us. I don't think I've ever fully ran out of Ammo with the Ammo upgrade either. I need to do more solo Gunner, obviously, it's my least played class, but Hurricane just seems like a nice all-purpose primary. Even though I love the autocanon XD
@@jojomaster7675 Hurricane does not lack dps in any sense. Don't use nano-missiles and go for fire rate if you really must, but Hurricane with frag missiles shreds any and all content. It does it without it too, but the gun is so good its best OC is the most minor buff that pushes it over the edge. Compare frag missiles aoe and damage to carpet bomber sometime.

i mostly recorded this because of how many people i saw saying the boomerang was the "mactera plague counter" which it has not been in my experience

Boomerang is better if you need more versatility. Personally I prefer running it if Im going to Dense Biozone or Glacial Strata because you get a lot of Naedocytes down there, and having just for grenades which you can fumble on a panic throw isnt as useful as eight boomerangs that are GUARANTEED to hit 8 targets.

People dont understand the use of the voltaic. Not every weapon needs to kill things. The voltaic has many uses the other grenades dont. It covers a wide area of enemies with a stun. It stun lasts quite a long time. It stun just about everything except dreadnaughts, colussus and horrors. It can be thrown behind or beside you to cover your flank or if you are getting swarmed, or at a teamate to give them more breathing room when they are swarmed. And most importantly its great for those annoying nanocyte and swarmers because itll kill them in one hit and take out most of them.
What it doesnt have in damage it makes up for in utility.

Pheromones are equally good as well, especially on hazard 5 when you're likely to encounter a sea of bugs like that. My fave thing to do is get a horde all nice and grouped up with Phero so my Driller can get all cheerful and excited to blow em all up at once c:

For regular bugs, it only freezes them in place, away from each others.
Pheromones makes them gather very tight and damage each other.
Which means Pheromones pair disgustingly well with a melee power attack (with damage upgrade) or a Blowthrough M1000 (non Hipster OC). Just throw the nade in the middle of the pack, wait for them to gather up, and kill the entire swarm with just one clip (works even for Haz 4, btw)
And besides, Pheromones redirect the damage of some of the most damaging enemies (all sorts of macteras, exploders (particularly bulks), praetorian, oppressors, etc) onto the swarm. I've had exploders and oppressors clearing the swarm themselves more than I can count them. I also works just as well as Cryo to deal with swarmers.
Pheromones are criminally underrated.
But everyone and their mother just coom for what is genuinely one of Scout's worst grenade (even IFG is better) because it ONE specific case where it's the better option. Otherwise either Pheromones or IFG will give you better results.
If you STILL want Cryos on top of actually picking usefull grenades like Phero or IFG, just pick Bosco's cryo rockets upgrade. It's literally the same thing as the Cryos, but without accidentally freezing yourself, and having technically infinite ammo.

Tho they are not as good at dealing with hoards, IFGs are best against smaller waves, big boys and in narrow points. Cryo is trash.

On the contrary they make very short work of Dreadnoughts, Oppressors, or any target with big health pool, for that mater. And they're still effective against swarms if you can place yourself in a narrow corridor to great them.

IFG excels at damage amplification and give moderate crowd-control, while the Pheromones excels at crowd-control while redirecting damage onto the enemy.

I just hate how people pretend that Cryos are any good (or hell, even "the best") when they're only the better option against macteras... and that's it. Like I said, Pheromones will also cover the swarmers problem so it's not even something that is unique to the Cryo. And Pheromones work better as an "Oh shit ! Swarm circling me !" button because you don't risk freezing yourself.

I can say, when the ground and walls are bustling and start crawling towards you at an alarming speed like a tsunami of screeching chitin, pheromones have saved my beard more times than cryo has in 4 player haz 5, especially on point extraction. And besides why take cryo nades when I have cryo minelets on my zhukov's. I get way more uses outta them anyways in the long run, vs the 4 grenades I'd have, plus _potentially_ accidentally whiffing and waste in the frantic chaos. Not only does it give me breathing room to possibly rez a teammate, but they kill each other so I don't have to waste ammo AND it benefits my team bc less bugs are biting them too, and like I said, my gunners and drillers really appreciate it when I get all the fish in the barrel for them. Criminally underrated.
Oh and also, cryo grenades are less effective on bigger targets and certain biomes like magma core and glacial strata, where they simply thaw out quicker from the environment or are frost resistant thank to their adaptations., respectively. Whereas pheromones don't have such weakness. Heck, they even work on robots! For... some reason. Yet cryo is just terrible vs those even with the recent buff. They're definitely overrated.
Now, I won't go without saying THEY DO have their uses, like as mentioned earlier, vs mactera swarms and swarmer... swarms. Even reducing the devastation caused by bulks. But that's about where it ends bc it's just not as efficient as the other choice for the rest of the bugs. As an element, Fire basically outclasses frost in every way. Robots are devastatingly weak to it, macteras are weak to it, it can instantly wipe out hordes of swarmers, and many POWERFUL builds pretty much revolve around it...

You can waste a boomerang more freely in a sitation where you need to focus down something, you can easily stun opressor or several bugs/maktera moving on you cause you have 8 and they auto-aim. I think its the best panic button for scout cause it will save you (or teammate) from anything very fast and with minimal aim. not as effective for long-term control as other grenades nor kill potential, but wins at reaction speed, range and ammunition. also stunnining menaces for 10 seconds is good
*7 seconds. The stun lasts 7 seconds.
I still think just due to ammo count that Stun Sweeper is the best grenade in the game for getting revive. Cryo and Pheromone are pretty good too but Stun Sweeper just gets so much value despite costing so little of your reserves. The downside of "it won't kill anything" is such a non-issue when Scout shouldn't be dealing with swarms anyway.

Sure, but this is a bit disingenuous. Even at H5 with mactera swarm you don't get swarms this big, 90% of the time you get groups of 3-5 mactera, and using 1 cryo grenade is a waste, whereas stun sweeper will still do a decent job for HALF the cost, and it will also stun some nearby bugs. I swear people just ignore the fact that you get 8 of these on purpose lol, it's such a good tool for killing small enemies like swarmers/shredders, stuning bugs for a revive, slowing detonators, etc. Obviously it doesn't perform that well into big hordes, but since when is it the Scout's job to take care of the grunts?
think it's pretty reasonable for a mactera plague swarm, as the title suggests, and using 2 boomerangs for a swarm that size uses the same amount of your nade supply as 1 cryo so 8 isn't a very good argument

Not bad with a flamethrower if you've got the enemy fully on fire, otherwise if it's close to on fire it will just not get temp shock or even freeze.
GSG needs to make the stun sweeper recharge. One throw every 10 seconds (after it returns) might be a bit much but I feel that there is a nice balance that can be found by tweaking numbers. If they recharged like flares that might be a good starting point.

If you are having issue with swarmers, use fire or cryo bolts and plant two or three in the ground around you move through that area and it will kill every single swarmer.
If you had at least pointed to naedocite or rival shredders... (That last one I find actually viable. Not optimal but best for ease of use)
this sure is an example of how good it can be, but you were prepared, you knew where the mactera where spawning, and you had all the right conditionings to get a lot of value out of one cryo.
In a real game this may not be always the case and they may be apart from each other that you dont get them all with a cryo, so sometimes the boomerang can be a comfortable choice for some

also a great exaple of how good it can be is taht basically every driller uses cryo why? because it completely strips enemy armor for the duration they are frozen
and for cryo grenades it is the same but compared to cryo gun grenades freeze instantly and because scouts single target dmg is great with the right build with one cryo grenade you could probably get about 3-4 praetorians or opressors and i think that shows just how usefull they are in normal situations as well

A boomerang is more suitable for controlling a crowd of bugs or a swarm of slicer drones, and a freezing grenade is more suitable for spot freezing or quickly killing bosses.
Honestly, the boomerang nade is something you would like to go with over all else scout's grenades in only a few situations, and i can hardly think of 2 situations. The only mission type where i would prefer to bring boomerang over any other grenade, is sabotage, and it's only because of shredder swarms. For any other situation, any other scout's grenades is better at anything.
Now, yeah it looks cool, but being limited to one boomerang at a time that can only hit 9 random targets does not make it a really good choice for highest difficulties. In haz 4/5 the mobs will always be too numerous for it to be really worth it.
IFGs and cryo nades will 95% of the time be better at anything, even phero nades are better for crowd control. Actually Boomerang is kind of bad for swarms control, it's only good against small groups of enemies. They need some kind of rework to be as worth as any other scout grenade.

Shredders yes, it's the only real effective point of bringing boomerang instead of anything else. Swarmers? Bruh! Let them come close to you, and once they're pretty much packed, just throw a cryo nade and they're all instantly gone. Anyway you have many options to kill swarmers( or grunts) quick with scout: Fire/Ice OC for the boltshark( or electric bolts), cryo minelets for the zukhovs, shockwave upgrade for the boomstick, bouncy bullets for the drak( with aoe damage of course) and even pheromones: just apply pheroes on some medium/big enemies, and let swarmers go kamikaze on them.
Also: pickaxe like a real dwarf! :D
Just want to point out that you can kill 72 total swarmers with all 8 stun sweepers... And it takes a while to do it too.
1 Pheromone nade can comfortably kill >30 swarmers and stops all of them (and any other bugs) in your vicinity immediately.
Killing shredder drones is the only non-negligible upside I can see for the boomerangs over scouts other grenades.

@@meekumanu Well, considering you only have 4 cryo nades at once, it sure is'nt the most economic option, but still ultra effective, way better than boomerang. Many better options have been suggested already, one of the most ammo efficient being the fire boltshark imo, way too easy to get rid of them quick while reviving a mate

On multiplayer difficulty there's way more than 8 enemies on someone's body, pheromones or cyro would guarantee a revive with 20+ bugs on someone's body. Even an ifg with blowthrough rounds on the m1000 would do better.
@@quantumdisappointment5711 Boomerang is faster though, you dont need to aim and travels faster i saved many teammates from getting mactera bombed with it and in general, another thing i like about voltaic stun sweeper is i can easily get a stunned steve and it stuns caretaker tentacles when im upclose unloading on its eye

not really imo, there's the 8 carried argument but you're getting 8 weaker grenades with spotty targetting instead of 4/6 strong nades reliant on how you use them
gk2 at base and m1000 with the mod are both able to stun as well which leaves drak, i've had the most use out of the stun there since you have a harder time dealing with long range menaces etc but the damage potential for cryo & ifg is still huge
I like to use the boomerang and the secondary sub machine guns with the conductive bullets mod It does 33% more damage to electrified targets. Add the blowthrough rounds and quickfire ejector mods making it easy to clear a big cluster of grunts in seconds, it’s really good at area denial.
@@notsotrvgic9104 But IFGs do the same thing and more effectively at that with the inherent 30% more damage debuff. Sure the boomerang can be useful but as of now they are an inferior option to Scouts other nades.
Edit: Forgot to mention but IFGs also count as electrified with the slow but you can also stack another electrified status effect for even more damage not just with the dot but to proc conductive bullets as well.
You get double the instances of grenade use with the boomerangs. In actual practice it’s far more useful than one would expect from the hypothetical scenario of the video.
Boomerang is also more effective against medium sized enemies that don’t get frozen by one grenade, like praetorians.
Personally, I’ve transitioned over to rangs from cryo. I primarily play haz5 for reference. Of course, it’s best to simply try it for yourself and decide.

@@fizzlock Hurricane is fun, but lacks DPS compared to the other 2.
I find that the minigun is better against single targets while the thunderheads rips through crowds, but both are pretty general purpose overall, especially when paired with the right secondary.
@@jojomaster7675 Also depending on the overclocks. Bullet hell on minigun is good crowd control, big Bertha on auto cannon sort of evens it out into really high direct damage but still decent crowd control.

I don't generally have a problem with the DPS, but that's when playing duo with a Scout to light up the room range for me, so I can get rid of things long before they reach us. I don't think I've ever fully ran out of Ammo with the Ammo upgrade either.
I need to do more solo Gunner, obviously, it's my least played class, but Hurricane just seems like a nice all-purpose primary. Even though I love the autocanon XD
@@jojomaster7675 Hurricane does not lack dps in any sense. Don't use nano-missiles and go for fire rate if you really must, but Hurricane with frag missiles shreds any and all content. It does it without it too, but the gun is so good its best OC is the most minor buff that pushes it over the edge. Compare frag missiles aoe and damage to carpet bomber sometime.
I'm gonna be honest, I'm not sure what you're trying to show off here. The cryo grenade worked *way* better.
