- Some highlights from OLB James Houston IV's 2022-23 season with the NFL's Detroit Lions. He only played in 7 games after being called up from the practice squad midseason, but he made a massive impact, recording 8 sacks. He looks to be an excellent partner across from 2022 2nd overall pick, DE Aidan Hutchinson. The Problem is a game-wrecker.
I do not own any of the clips. All rights go to the NFL.
If you liked this one, consider having a look at the rest of my channel and dropping a sub - I make lots of Lions content!
You have to love how fast he is and how low he can get. This dude is like a missle when he gets locked on a target.
Some Lions fans are saying Houston will regress, but his bend isnt blockable in the NFL. Sacks can be a fluky stat but Houston is no doubt going to be in the opponents back field all 2023. The League is gonna know who he is this year
He will have more sacks than Hutchinson and I predict he will finish the season around the 15 range
That eurostep😩
He has so much energy and creativity.
That hop step onthat 3rd sack is top tier
That last play was hilarious. He went back in coverage then just turned into a missile.
That's explosiveness
The way he locked in and committed was insane. He doesn't even look like he should be anywhere near him and then the missile launched.
A guided missile at that...such an incredible open-field tackle on a guy with elite elusiveness. I think Fields just became paralyzed for a second to see this defender coming at him so aggressive, I think he's used to the defense hanging back in fear of him...
You could SEE that the second Fields broke contain, Houston said "Fuck your coverage assignment, I'm hitting this mf" and then goes and does it against one of the more elusive QBs in the league in the open field. That's instincts. That can't be taught. If he develops to become a more capable coverage LB, or hell, even considers shifting to DE...hello, Von Miller 2
You cant watch this tape and say it was a fluke. This dude is lightning quick and has serious bend. Even had a flash or two of being able to bull rush. Hes a great pass rusher who could be a very competent spy and even work his way into every down player if he gets strong enough to set the edge on the run
He straight up pushed a tackle into Fields to sack him. He's undersized but still six one with some serious power. We're gonna have some fun watching him this year but yes, the biggest point is his run defending. Go Lions
Him and Branch (as box safety) could come up huge vs. Lamar and the Ravens this year.
His bend is elite
Bruh, he tackled the LT and The QB together on the one play. Dude has speed and strength and my man can bend. He’s going to be a superstar.
This was one of my favorite picks by the Lions in last years draft. This young man was determined to make it in the NFL.
The steal of the draft.
The last sack was some serious next level sackage! He looked as though he was shot out of a cannon. Almost ripped fields leg off!
That sack on Fields is why I feel like the defense is legit this year. When you have Aidan rushing that fast and Houston just using his agility and strength to get your blocker off balance, you got a couple of seconds to get that ball off.
My favorite defensive Player him and Kirby Joseph.
I think one of the things I like about watching these sacks is that he rolls with the QB when he gets to legs which limits anything getting twisted (except for T Law which still makes me wince even tho he turned out okay).
That hesitation step to get Lawrence was nice damn!!!
Damn that boy strong. He made Fields do a 900 kickflip on that last one.
Bend quickness power. Had some good hands there too.
Man he's such a beast I really Hope Madden Ratings in the game are way better. They never show us any love in the NFL or in Madden. This year we demand the attention and respect of the Entire NFL. We are on notice. #onepride ☝️
Beast!!!
My Spirit Animal! ❤
Can’t wait to see what he does with a full season!
Gone be a household name this year
Closing burst is legit
This dude is already an elite tackler. Once he gets his hands on you he’s not letting go till you’re down.
He's coming KC
Patrick Mahomes is already having nightmares
Lamo. Yea. Exactly. Patrick Mahomes is going to be so confused he’s gonna be on the sideline screaming “who are these guys???”
Cool idea for a Disney movie, but in case you don’t know, Mahomes has faced the best DEs in the league.
He’s not having nightmares. Lol
@@thomaswatkins3686 In case you missed it Goff beat Mahomes. Mahomes has never won against Goff.
@@thomaswatkins3686 Lions rookies had a NFL record 20.5 sacks last season. Only 1 of them was a regular starter for the entire season. James Houston(8 sacks) played in just 7 games last season. Aiden Hutchinson's rookie numbers are comparable to a couple HOFers, I'm sure you've probably heard of. You should look that up. You might want to put some kind of sweetener on your foot before you do, though!!
Pat has yet to face the NFL's best pass rushers. Just some damn good ones!
I’m so jealous of you lions. This is what the 49ers thought drake Jackson would be. Reminds me a lot of von miller.
The display of strength when he sacked the Chicago QB with his own LT...🤣🤣
He's super undersized for an edge rusher too so that strength is awesome to see
He went SUPER low and just SHOVED the guy. His lower body has to have some SERIOUS power behind it.
He's going to be such an animal this season
Detroit with a boatload of early picks decided not to draft a DE which means Houston must continue to develop. Hutchinson was the most double teamed pass rusher in ALL of football so if nobody develops on the other side it could hurt him too.
If Paschal/Houston are good Hutchinson could have a 15 plus sack season which I believe is paramount for Detroit's D and winning as a whole.
Add in the overhauled secondary will have qbs holding the ball longer giving hutch more time to the qb
Another late round steal from Holmes.
two words....Da Problem
Just think of how productive this defense could be in sacks with the secondary that this team has now.
Petition to call this man
THE PREDATOR
He's already The Problem 🔥
@@justanothersportsfan that’s riiiiight
The Problem is too perfect
Nope the problem
This guy will be a problem for years to come if he just keeps grinding. I think we might have the 2 next superstars of edge rushers in Hutch and Houston
He could be a first rounder in a re draft
He said he wanna double last years sacks and have about 20 this year
Reminds me of ziggy anash
From JSU
Coach Prime and a HBCU!
Yea. That’s certainly a precursor to success.
"DA" PROBLEM. just think the stupid Lions coaching staff cut this kid. Deon Sanders, Houston's coach, from Jackson state pleaded with the Lions to start him. I said day one Houston should of made the Lions roster. Then I hear these ridiculous excuses by the Lions coaching staff "he wasn't ready" bunch a bullxxxx. Jemar Jefferson should of made the Lions roster also.
And now he's going to get paid 2 years earlier because of it. Worked out great for him. Hopefully he gives us a discount because another year like the last and he's getting a serious bag.
Bro hurts quarterbacks.
