You're the first thing that came to mind when they activated him. I'm happy for all of us that we may get to see him however I'm hesitantly optimistic simply due to the injury. "..underwent surgery that inserted one plate, four screws and two tight ropes into the hurt leg." Even if it's fully healed i suspect he needs mental recovery as well. Thus likely needs a game, or two, to get back to full form.

That stutter-step then burst and the super low dip or bend under the offensive tackle to get to the Quarterback is ELITE!
I hope he plays on obvious passing downs against the Bucs on Sunday and gets some hits and a sack or two on Baker.

I'm crossing my fingers hoping for the best. I don't expect much from him. This season is a win as long as the lions don't show their ass in any of the upcoming games. However, I am having dreams of him widening our margin this game and doing his best chase young impression against the niners. The lions have a chip and a chair, man. That's all it takes with a guy like Dan running things.

Damn development, that's what the offseason's for. I want him pointed at the QB every passing down. His combo of speed, bend, and power is incredible, and there's a REASON he's gained a rep as our resident sack artist

Something I hated this year was Aaron Glenn’s infatuation with dropping him in coverage the first two weeks. He is a sack specialist! Let him be that.

Detroit has had problems getting to the qb because of blatant holding and no calls from the ref. I always see Hutchinson getting held. Last game vs Rams, Anzalone was getting literally tackled from behind by the rb, when he blitzed and was just about to grab Stafford. But still no calls. Stafford ended up throwing a td to #5, when in actuality it would've been a sack if Anzalone wasn't tackled/held from behind.

This is a game changer. The 🦁s deliberately waited till they were sure he was ready before unleashing him this season. I tracked this guy pre-rookie year, and was ecstatic that we got him. He is HIM on situational pass downs, or as an additional Blitzer on run downs, because of his speed. I think he plays about 15-20 snaps vs.TB, but could be hugely impactful in such limited reps. He is best aligned out wide solo or matched alongside a power rusher, normally. But in this particular matchup with TB, the weakest part of of their Oline is on the interior, and dropped in there between the guard & center with his natural speed could create big problems for the Bucs. 🦁34 -Bucs-17. They can't score 30 vs 🦁s. Great show & breakdown as usual!

I know you’re a big James Houston guy. It just seems like our coaching staff doesn’t think that much about him. Maybe because he’s more of a 3rd down specialist. I love James. He’s got Grit.

As fans we all love him, but the coaching staff see him every day. Remember what DC said about him during an early media meet: " l think he has a way to go but l'm glad he's in our building". I'm sure they would love for him to develop into a three down linebacker, but as of now he just isn't there yet. I sure hope he can stay healthy and continue to develop though. They will really need him against a scrambling/running QB!

Definitely, can't wait to see what they do with him in terms of expecting a 4-Man Rush to get to the QB against a Bucs OLine that was great in Wk 6, but has given up a number of Sacks lately. Mayfield has been Sacked 16 times in their last 5 games. That is surprising to me after seeing the Bucs OLine in Wk 6 look so in control in terms of dealing with the Pass Rush.

Most said 4 to six months to rehab his injury. It’s been 4 months. Don’t know how much damage he can do, but two things I do know. 1-He’a been FP for the last three weeks. 2- MCDC won’t put a player coming off IR or the PS before he’s ready to play. Also a guy who has really popped lately, Jerm. Jalen Reeves-Mayburn. Not to mention Iffy and Kerby Joseph. The delayed blitz from the Safety. So deep. So fast. So well timed. Sunday is going to be to reference an old “Laugh-In” line, “Verryyyy Interesting”.

I appreciate your interest and videos/analysis of the Lions but not going to watch this one. I just don’t get why people think that he will be a game changer for the Lions. He has not played since week #2 and from the coaches’ comments regarding him it appears pretty obvious that he is not ready to contribute.
I saw him last year, and he did some great things on the field for Detroit in the limited time he did play. He did not do anything in the first two games this year before suffering a severe ankle injury, so expecting him to sack Mayfield this Sunday seems overly optimistic. We have won twelve games without him, and can certainly continue to win without him.

    • @virgillyman2640

If you don't watch this and you haven't seen what he can do in a game, all I can say is watch him this week or when ever he does get in, then you will see for yourself!

@@virgillyman2640I saw what he did in 2022…when he was fully healthy and nobody in the NFL knew anything about him. I saw him do nothing in the first two games of 2023 before getting injured.
The issue is not what he can do healthy, the issue is how healthy is he now? The Lions coaches seem to be very unconvinced that he is able to contribute right now, and they have been watching him in practice for three weeks. He broke his ankle in September. It would be pretty amazing if he was fully recovered and able to play at +90% now.

@@alpardo4124 You must have missed Detroit’s biggest weakness? The passing game. Puka had 181 yards and a Touchdown…Ceedee Lamb 227 yards - TD…Adam Thielen 102 Yds - 1 TD…Chris Olave 119 yards…and I can go on with real facts. The problem is that coverage is what he played in the NFL. Everybody in any position of coverage gets worse the longer he coaches them! Nobody would throw Sutton’s way much the half of the season and now that’s all they’re doing? Brian Branch is still a beast in spite of but he went from intercepting Patrick Mahomes to making tackles after catches?
