Hello Lav! I have a question how do I raise ph in my aquarium other than crushed coral. It’s at 7 and 7.2 and I want to raise it a bit. Do I add alkaline buffer?
Baking soda. 1 teaspoon for every 10 gallons. Give it 24 hours and if u need to raise it more try half a teaspoon per 10 gallons. Also if its a snail only tank I turn the filters off and crush fresh unboiled cuttlebone and let it settle and it usually raises it .2 to .4
If the block seemed too big for your tank. The chips may be better for you as they are much smaller. But you may have to add them to your tank more frequently. As far as how long they last, that can vary from tank to tank. 👍🐌💜 give the chips a whirl and see how they go!
You can try to gently wipe the shell with a sponge or washcloth to remove the algae however it may be imbedded in the shell in which case its better to leave it be if you can stand to. 🐌💜

How often do you replace the calcium blocks? I bought the 6 pack and they don’t seem to last long. Wish a way to break them up in smaller pieces

Definitely try the chips for that size. They do not cloud. 👍
I use the chips in my 10 gallon, and they almost completely disappear overnight. Just a bit of blueish powdery residue where the chip was.
