Good Morning GA Friends!!!! I planted the Pollypetitie in a little space dedicated to my Grandmothers. Her name was Polly and that shade of purple was her favorite. Thanks to Laura and Aaron I now have "rooms" and spaces in my yard that are thoughtful and on purpose. I learn something daily from you all, thank you for everything!

Not related to this video, but I think an excellent video idea for the highlights channel is for Aaron to gather footage from over the years and put together a “what to do in the garden” by month series. It would be nice to see what Laura is sowing, planting, pruning every month in one video. I would imagine it to be especially helpful for those of us who don’t live in zone 6, who can’t follow Laura step by step to have a quick guide/check-list to refer to.

It's taken a long time to just get our lawn healthy. I have learned so much from your videos. This year I finally was brave enough to plant containers. With all your videos, I had beautiful, showy container flowers. They turned out beautifully! Thank you! I wish I could have you help us design our landscape. Great list Laura! Deer thoughts (East End LI, NY, zone 7A): from my garden 🪴 aka deer buffet 😭 deer looooove the tater tot arbs, yet ignore the Firelight Tidbits for my more yummy big leaf hydrangeas. Panicle hydrangeas for the win!! My tiny wine Ninebarks are thriving and ignored by deer, and we’ve had so many monarchs on our buddleia this year! Deer not interested in it at all. We are going to plant a hedge of the Winecraft Black Smokebush next year to replace some Japanese cedars that the deer munched to death this past Winter. And a taller privacy hedge of Royal Purple smokebush too!! Thank you for all the great inspiration Laura!!

Since I'm new to gardening these types of videos are so helpful! I'm landscaping and trying so hard to plant things of interest and that will look lush once mature. Its difficult to see what you "envision " when everything is small. Im hopeful though! Thank you for sharing!

Such an informative video! In south central Virginia (by a lake) deer are a plenty, and hungry!! It’s an ongoing battle to keep them at bay, but you have given me so many good ideas of what to put in the landscape. Hopeful I can find some of those plants locally. I so appreciate all the time and effort you and Aaron put into your videos to give us ideas, inspiration and encouragement!

Keep in mind that deer will eat anything, they don't pay any mind to plant tags. The deer in Arkansas eat rose bush canes full of thorns, fuzzy sedum, "poisonous" peonies.......all things the experts say they wont eat. It varies by year, and you can never tell what they will go after. They do seem to prefer the new growth of anything, but the only thing I have ever known them not to at least try are iris and daffodils.

Laura, thanks so much for this information! We will definitely try the tater tots. In our area, boxwoods are very hard to maintain. It seems we are constantly replacing them. In fact, last year we replaced an entire boxwood hedge with lavender after seeing you plant your lavender along the pathway. That project was a total success!

You're very right that smaller shrubs can give a texture or colour to go in areas where other larger shrubs are. When you said that I instantly thought about the layering that they would create in combination with the larger shrubs. Great video Laura.

This is very informative but my go to small shrub is a spirea, I’m in zone 7 and they wonderful for me. They have small purple/pink blooms and the leaves change a beautiful color in the fall. I’ve had mine so long that several times little ones come up and I transplant to other places in my gardens.

I planted a Diablo Ninebark about mid-summer. The leaves started to crisp up a bit which had me worried, but I noticed some new growth pushing through yesterday when I was going through my beds. Keeping my fingers crossed it pulls through this winter because it is such a pretty plant.

I really need this advice. As I built my garden all of flowers I loved their personalities showed me why you don’t plant too many cone flowers, they love to take over the garden, black eyed Susan’s do the same and bee balm can’t be planted too close to the house because they get moldy without air circulation. After pulling out all that Out I was at a loss of what to put in in now. I’ld already made mistakes of planting shrubs that quickly out grew their allotted spaces, these new varieties look just the thing! And they’re all so pretty! I’m excited again to find the best combinations for my yard, thank you so much for this video!

Hi Laura: Thanks for your tutorial. Just trying to figure out what to plant on the side of our downsized home that needs some remodeling. The small fence that might be our neighbors needs to be taken out if alright with them and thinking of planting either tator tots or forsythia and appreciate your knowledge on growing conditions. Must look like an arboretumn around your home right about now. All best to you & yours always.
