One thing that I really like is that even though this is a huge space to fill it still gives me ideas for smaller pockets in my own normal sized yard. Each area of the south garden seems to have its own identity while still having far off views that add to the layers and brings it all together. Totally enjoy seeing this area become something amazing.
I fell the same way. Im looking at her videos and I will say; Oh, I will put a bench there! or Maybe some tree trunks different heights, forming a sitting area in that corner where the hydrangeas are. Yesterday I wrote to her telling her to build in front of that nook she has ,where she wants to make her secret garden in the south garden, to build her pond. 😱 😅 All along inside that whole area . Like a river with paths and bridges. I can't help it! 😂
I enjoy your videos so much, long or short, it is like we are right there along with you! You talk to your audience and make us feel like friends! Blessings to you and Aaron and your sweet family!
The breeding of hydrangeas is so interesting! They are always coming out with new ones and I'm so glad they are making them smaller for smaller gardens! Thank you for keeping us up-to-date on the new hydrangeas!
The south garden is turning into a gorgeous oasis. Love seeing all you build it up layer by layer. When I think back to what you started with 2 seasons ago, I'm blown away with the amount of change. I remember it was just the cut flower garden and raw field the first season you owned the property. Look at it all now.
I remember how excited I was when you planted those hydrangeas in the corner. I knew that it was the beginning to so much more.. and it truly was! I would love to see a one year recap condensed down to one video of all you have done since then. From a bare white patch of scrub and dust to an almost park-like setting in this short amount of time is mind blowing. Congratulations to you both and Paul too.
Oh my! That little quick fire reminds of ME!! Short stocky and wrinkly!! AND I BLOOM NICELY!! Love the shortness of this one 😁 And at age 67 still have some fire left.
I’ve watched your videos for many years and my yard looks great as a result. Garden Answer never gets old. I’m constantly learning more . Thank you Laura and Aaron! ❤️
Oh Laura, you are going to LOVE the Vitex. In my Zone 6 my vitex is now year 3 and never stops blooming spring thru fall. Tons of pollinators flock to it and I don't deadhead it as finches gather seeds from spent flowerheads. Hope this helps others consider this amazing small tree/large shrub. ❤️
My vitex does not die back. It loses it's leaves but is now an 8' multi branch tree. Year 3 planted from 15 gal that was less than 3' tall when it went in ground. AZ high desert here so we get blazing hot and moderately cold, lots of wind also.
Would love to see a recap video of this summer vs last summer. How your perennials have grown in, and the grass pathway etc. Seeing the spaces evolve has been my absolute favorite. The south garden is looking so nice and lush now!!!!!!
I remember when I lived in Florida and was thinking the same thing! Glad someone said it. It's all what you get used to. I moved from dry as a bone to Florida when I was 25 years old. Humidity didn't really bother me most days. Now that I'm older, don't know if I could do it.
82% humidity & temp is rising from (currently) 70° to 88° as the day progresses in Boston area today. (Who DiDNT do a weather app compare when Laura showed & talked about hers? 🤣) Ive got 20 plants in my stash & 1/2 dozen arriving today. Perhaps I’ll be digging & deep watering holes only…holding off on planting til very late or tomorrow. Choices choices…clearly I’ll sacrifice myself before I stress out my plants!
Oh!! A couple of videos ago, I meant to ask about the first hydrangeas you planted in the far corner of the South Garden, and completely forgot! They have come along beautifully! Thank you for taking a minute to show them 😍
Good morning! So many pretty plants. It’s nice to see the smaller hydrangeas for those of us with smaller spaces. Always nice to see Russell making an appearance. Hope Cheddar is doing well too. 20% humidity that’s funny, we’re getting 60+ % humidity with upper 80’s. Always love the choices of music you play for the videos.
We just lost our 17 year old cat (Cali) today and am so sad. Seeing Russell video bombing all the time always makes me smile and helps ease the loss. Thank you for sharing all of your garden knowledge; and, even though we are in Zone 12 Hawaii and can't grow Panicle Hydrangeas I still enjoy watching and learning from you everyday. Blessings to you and your family.
I need that tiny quick fire hydrangea in our tiny little space!!! Can’t wait to get some! And of course I love a rose of Sharon, and ANYTHING that has blue flowers. So I am here for all of these!! It’s no wonder you forget from one year to the next what all you planted. By the time you plant 100’s and 100’s of things. (1000’s if you count all the bulbs). BTW, beautiful choice in music on this one! 💚💚💚👋👋👋
Russell just loves being near you for sure! People get to actually see that cats are not indifferent creatures and that they do like being around their people. They want to know what's going on as well. Thank you for showing how wonderful they can be. Your videos may have opened the door for people to think about them differently and maybe adopt! Just an added benefit to Garden Answer.
Hi Laura! Your enthusiasm in the heat is contagious and encouraging! Makes one feel that it can't be too bad to get out and do some work. In sunny Caribbean, we are blessed with rain almost daily at this time of year even while it's hot and humid...God bless your happy heart!
Paul is your garden ninja. You don’t see him but he gets the job done 👍👏👏👏 Love seeing how the plants are doing......thank you. It might be nice to see a rough drawing of the garden when you are walking around or planting, to get a better idea of where you are and the layout?
Anyone else curious to see a tour of the plants waiting in the wings to be planted? And a video walking through some of the varieties being considered for the future? (types of evergreens for example) As always, the planting videos are my favorite :)
Today I practiced romancing the ordinary by cutting myself a slice of brie with a little CHEESE KNIFE! I had it with crackers and cabernet sauvignon wine jelly and felt so special 😊. Glad you have music back! I watch these videos first thing every morning in bed while my bf is still asleep and the music was nice and calming for him hehe.
I planted a Chaste Tree 3 years ago Zone 6. (Missouri) Yes, it does die back and it leafs out in the late spring…even later than a Crape Myrtle! But they are so pretty! They call them the “Lilac” of Texas!💜
Morning all. Ooooo those tiny hydrangeas looked very pretty and interesting. I don't know if they would do in my zone 4 shade, but they sure are purdy. If I find one, I may try one and see how it goes. Thank you Laura. I always enjoy seeing what's new out there. Enjoy your day. 20% ~ ha, ha, ha..... That's a good day!! xo
Hi Laura! All of the plants you planted today are really pretty, and look good where you put them. I'm glad you finally showed us that back corner. I know lots of viewers have asked about it. It is looking really pretty. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hey Laura! My first time commenting on RUclips, ever! You are absolutely amazing and I joke that you're my best friend, even to my best friend 🤭 I installed a drip system this spring and it definitely has been and still is trial and error on making sure the right size of emitters are being used with each plant/shrub. Is there anywhere I can go online that shows this? Keep doing what you're doing!!
Good morning, Laura 😊 20° humidity 🤣I’m up here in Boston where it’s 90°with 70° 🥵 😅 😂😂 I love the Echinaceas! The tine Hydrangea’s are so stinkin’ adorable. They are a must have. Those Sumacs are going to steal the show I think. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
At 11:18 my heart literally skipped a beat, because I have been searching through several of your videos for a update on this Quick Fire Fab corner that you planted in 2020!! I am planning to buy 1-2 this weekend and was a bit nervous to take the leap with shrubs that get so big in the long run. Thank you so much for including this portion of the garden in today's video!! 💖💮
I’m having fun looking for the plants you use for my own garden. Just a thought about under the sink in the Hartley, paint the white pipes black. You won’t notice them as much.
I was just getting ready to ask “ why you don’t plant rose of Sharon” and boom there it is going in. Love love them. Such a beautiful tall color at a time in the garden that need it.🌸
❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕Have you ever thought about setting up a play area for the kids under the willow tree? (By the raised bed garden). If they play there when you are in the green house anyway. Give them a kiddie size picnic table or even pour a concrete race track for their little cars. Also, the back north garden. You could make that the family fun area. You don’t want a pool. But, what about a small splash pad. No danger of drowning and can use also for hard surface like hopscotch and sidewalk chalk. Love your sweet family. Keep up the great work. ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕
Having a peaceful and informative video to look forward to each day is such a gift. Life is so busy and it is nice to sit down and spend a little time in your garden. Thank you
👋🌞Good Friday morning Laura! Look, it's a Russell 🐈 🦁 coming into view, through the jungle...😂🤣 👋Hi Russell! 🐈 I bet that breeze made the humidity a bit more tolerable, huh? Nice 👂👂candy Aaron/Ken! I know others say they don't miss the planting music. But, I always enjoy a good guitar strumming or the ivories being tickled. They just seem to go hand in hand, to me. YESSSSSSS, a BIGGGG shout out to Paul!!!! Laura and Aaron would be lost, without you. Kudos 👏👏👏 to you, for always being on top of everything you do!!!!! WOWWWWW, everything is doing spectacular, Laura!!! Thank you for taking us along for the planting and update tour! I bet it felt GOOD to get out of that humidity....🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 Thank you Thank you Thank you for sacrificing yourself for our benefit, sweet girl! Have a Blessed and Beautiful day/night/weekend 🌞/🌜✨️⭐️🌟✨️ 🌐 everyone! Kimberley F in Avondale, Arizona USA 🇺🇸 (Zone 9b) 🌞🌵💞
Laura, you are so hilarious! . . .20% humidity? Girl, I wish we had 20% humidity! I live in southern Indiana right on the Ohio River and our humidity doesn’t get below 50% during our summers unless we get lucky. Many times it is above 70%! Not easy working outside here. I truly appreciate all that you accomplish in your gardens, so beautiful. Thanks so much for brining us all along for the ride.
Hi Laura (and Aaron)! As I’m watching my daily dose of GA, I am getting extra curious about your supply of plants that you keep in the greenhouse or anywhere else for that matter! That would be a cool video to see the behind the scene of just how many plants you order and get delivered (by truck I’m assuming!) and how you organize and keep them watered, etc. Many of us home gardeners sometimes impulse buy (or am I alone?) and it’d be awesome to see what/how you keep everything good and ready to go!! TIA (love my morning coffee with GA!)
So. California here and we are having humidity along with high temps (up to 99 degrees) this summer. Today: 91 degrees with 48% humidity! I was out hand watering this morning around 8 a.m. and was dripping by the time I went indoors! I'd say that sounds like a little bit of climate change since we are considered a desert. Whoever heard of a desert having humidity? LOL. You are really dedicated (and brave) to be out there filming for us in the heat and humidity! I can see that you are passionate about what you do and that's what makes it enjoyable, along with so many other factors, like Aaron, Benjamin, Samantha Rose, your mom, Cheddar, Russell, your helpers, etc. and your beautiful garden! Thanks so much for sharing with us!
A garden is never done but WOW yours will be spectacular in a few years. So much variety, so much color. I love your enthusiasm. You get so excited when you see something blooming. Love every minute of your videos. I start my day seeing beautiful plants and flowers that we have been blessed to be given. You and Aaron are true stewards of those gifts.
Loooooove all of this!! You have no idea just HOW inspirational and pivotal you and this channel have been for me personally. Also, may I place an order for my own Paul? I could use a gardening ninja. Do I order through you? LOL
Planted my first Paraplu Rouge Rose of Sharon the other day, so can you imagine my surprise this morning to see that you introduced it to your garden 💚
I bought a Pinky Winky yesterday, I'm so excited. The ladies (at local garden center) and I were discussing Garden Answer and I said I had to have this because Laura loves them - it was their last one. I've never grown one before but I dug out a huge bunch of day lillies and my PW will go in their place right at the end of my driveway. Thanks for giving me the courage to tackle a hydrangea.
I can see how you might forget what you planted and become surprised in the spring - how many trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetables, bulbs, annuals do you think you have planted this growing season? The hard work of it all is paying off in the beautiful scene you have set in you garden spaces - great job. Your love of the gardens shows in the outcome👏👍🎉Bravo
Good morning Laura! Not going to humidity shame you but had to laugh. N.C. humidity 90% today! I am having humidity envy right now! But on the other hand we only hit 100 a couple of times this summer and I am grateful!!! Your garden is so awesome. I wish you would have Aaron do the a blank slate look from early last year on different areas and then do a now shot. SO AMAZING! Hugs from N.C..❤️
Who would have ever thought that land south of your original front yard could ever turn out so beautiful, Congratulations on your job well done. You, Aaron and Paul. Great job !!!
I absolutely love how you do the mini tours of the areas you plant. It is great to see the companion plants of the new planting and to see the progress of previous plantings! Everytime you do that I am able to slowly connect the dots and find new plants for my garden! Big thank you!!!
The space in the South Garden is getting more and more beautiful! Hydrangeas are amazing and cannot wait for all the new varieties to come out next year, it is awesome to receive a preview. We have the Shoal's Creek Vitex, which I love, love, love. Also being in Zone 6, I did not expect it to die back completely and I kept waiting this year for signs of growth. Finally in early summer I saw life and was so excited!!! They are incredible, so glad you have one.
That hibiscus looks like our rose of Sharon. We have them lining our backyard fence. We love them and they bloom all summer long. The pollinators love them!
@@kyrad6543 mine have been in the family for 60+ years, given to us from Gandma's garden, and further propagated from seeds over the last 30 years. I meant that I was surprised that her brand new variety looks so similar to our old-school ones.
Getting ready for my wedding but I had to watch your morning video first ❤️😜You always brighten my day so today of all days I wanted to start it off right❤️❤️❤️
I am really inspired by the phrasing "romancing the ordinary." In my own garden, I have a little area where I compost. And, it's not pretty at the moment, but the garden plan for it is to actually put in some beautiful scented and potted plants around so that this little "ordinary/functional" space is also beautiful.
Laura …everywhere we look is beautiful….I have a garden and at 91 I can appreciate all your hard work …it all looks pristine…your such an inspiration…..Thanks 🥰
It is so interesting when I see you planting a Rose of Sharon because in our area if you plant one you have to plan for 50. Different areas produce so differently. You are so wonderful in being inclusive with your information. Thanks
Laura, I garden in zone 6b in New York. I took a chance last year and planted two Vitex trees-Shoal Creek is the variety. I expected to have die back in the spring, but waited and only had to trim some of the tips of branches. They were very late to break dormancy, but I resisted the urge to cut them down and was surprised when they began to leaf out from top to bottom, except for a few tips. They are in full sun and have some protection and winter heat that radiates from my stone house, but really easy care, no pests and the pollinators love them. Currently about 6 feet + tall. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do.
The Vitex Chaste tree is a Texas favorite. I’m 65 years old, and the ranch I grew up on had one in the yard. It was my climbing tree.😊 Hummingbirds & butterflies love them. I’ve started saplings from the seeds, and we plan on making a living fence of Vitex, Crape Myrtles, and Texas Sage because they are freeze hardy & heat tolerant.
Oh babyyyy, I wish you could feel what it's like here in northern Florida 😂 we went on vacation to south Florida this year and it was LESS humid down there and the temperature was LOWER. I walk outside into what feels like a invisible cloud with moisture all over me. I was born and raised here so I've adapted too it, and honestly haven't been anywhere that isn't humid in my lifetime yet so it would be so interesting for us to switch spots for a day🤣💜
I wish I have a wide yard like yours even just 1/4 of yours I’ll be super happy……. I love plant’s especially flowering one they are stress reliever😊.. love your garden
I think what makes me enjoy your videos is the enjoyment you find in your beautiful garden! It makes me want to try different plants. I look for more unique plants now myself! Have a super happy day!🍀🌿🌷🌻🕊💚🙏🏼🥰
Hi guys l just love Ur garden tours plant knowledge so in inspiring l live in Australia state of Victoria l only have a small garden but there is always space l have learnt so much from u so excited for u cheers merrilyn 😊
Awesome, Laura, just awesome! Everything is just filling in so beautifully. You are teaching us so much with all these different varieties of plants. Gorgeous!
Love the music while you’re planting…I guess you could say that “ you’re romancing the ordinary “. So exciting to watch the process on the south garden…and it’s great that we all are along for the ride. Bravo
Laura, I'm cracking up ....you've got 20% humidity ....this morning it's 75 with 89% humidity in Ga.! It generally runs 60-70%.....it's horrible! Seriously though, I love those new hydrangeas! I so enjoy your videos for learning about all these plants, but also love just listening to your stories and seeing your beautiful family...Russell included! Blessings to you, and hope your Mom is healing quickly with her leg. (I loved the Q&A with her).
Hey Laura! I"ve had my Vitex for about 16 years now.. high ph like you. (southern Berkshires in MA) It comes up beautifully every year, tops out at about 4 feet, and blooms late in the August doldrums.. SUCH a great plant. I hope you love it!!!
I love this extra explanation of the plants I've seen on the Proven Winner's website. And I really appreciate when you forget the name of a plant and type it on screen. Would you do that for the ones you're pointing at, too? That would be so helpful!
One thing that I really like is that even though this is a huge space to fill it still gives me ideas for smaller pockets in my own normal sized yard. Yup, I feel the same way too! Thanks

Does everyone realize, however much we LOVE Laura (& Aaron), Russell is really the star of the show..... ;)
Yes!!! He is💗
He definitely makes his presence known.... lol
When will they realize this is Russell’s channel and they just appear in it from time to time?
Yes! Laura is such a cat magnet 🥰
Nice shrubs, I might go and dig em up and take back to my garden
I enjoy your videos so much, long or short, it is like we are right there along with you! You talk to your audience and make us feel like friends! Blessings to you and Aaron and your sweet family!
So sweet : )
The breeding of hydrangeas is so interesting! They are always coming out with new ones and I'm so glad they are making them smaller for smaller gardens! Thank you for keeping us up-to-date on the new hydrangeas!
But they need to come out with one that grows in zone 9, these do not.
Good ol' Paul , he's always got your back 😃
The south garden is turning into a gorgeous oasis. Love seeing all you build it up layer by layer. When I think back to what you started with 2 seasons ago, I'm blown away with the amount of change. I remember it was just the cut flower garden and raw field the first season you owned the property. Look at it all now.
Yes, I remember her being concerned about gophers, moles and puncture weeds. And look at it now. WOW! Just amazing.
My thoughts exactly!!
Couldn't agree more!
You are very hardworker Laura and your garden is a Fairy Tale 🧚♀️

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Hey Laura, it’s 98% humidity this morning at 6:46, in central Alabama and it isn’t raining. 🥰😅

I had to laugh at 20% humidity too! 90% here today in Florida. It’s tough! ~Cassandra, Zone 9A

Ahhhh, the music playing while Laura is planting the hydrangeas is wonderful. Very relaxing. I must say, I did miss the music in the videos.
20% humidity 🤣. In the South we would say, bless her heart. Lol Love Laura!!!
😅
Haha! Yes! 90% here today! ~Cassandra, Zone 9A
Good morning garden lovers!!!
Good Morning! From Montana
Good morning from Kentucky
Good morning from Springfield, Missouri!

Morning Everyone 🌸💕🌸
I like the background music on the planting portion of the last couple of videos. It is very relaxing.
I liked the extra cool editing, with Laura basically dropping in the plant!!! How fun!
I’d been hoping for an update on the Quick Fire Fabs! They look amazing!
Thank you Laura! Great info sharing video and lots of eye candy with so many beautiful blooms 😊

It's so funny, we just can't handle any humidity here. Its normally VERY dry so any humidity makes me clammy and miserable. 😰
@@katiedavis5861 This has been an especially hot, humid, and dry summer!

I love how your beds are coming together. It is so pleasing to watch! Willy nilly is an excellent style!
Oh yes, I do envy the genius of the south garden. GLORIOUS.

Look, it's a Russell 🐈 🦁 coming into view, through the jungle...😂🤣 👋Hi Russell! 🐈
I bet that breeze made the humidity a bit more tolerable, huh?

I love the Limelights with anything blooming purple! And when the hydrangeas turn pink, you'll get the romantic pink and purple combo. Perfection!
They are all gorgeous, but those little hydrangeas are so, so, so cute!!!
Loooooove all of this!! You have no idea just HOW inspirational and pivotal you and this channel have been for me personally. Also, may I place an order for my own Paul? I could use a gardening ninja. Do I order through you? LOL
I wish😆!
Same! Sure could use a Paul! ~Cassandra, Zone 9A
Planted my first Paraplu Rouge Rose of Sharon the other day, so can you imagine my surprise this morning to see that you introduced it to your garden 💚
I always appreciate new plant suggestions...Thanks for sharing.
OH WOW!!!! Those are so beautiful! You definitely have the best success with growing those. You have a green thumb and a blessed garden! 💚💛🧡❤💜💙
I love the music you play in the background while your planting the plants. It's so relaxing while I drink my morning coffee & enjoy your video💕
Big thank you!!!
very beautiful flowers. thank you for sharing 😊👍
Absolutely beautiful my goodness
That hibiscus looks like our rose of Sharon. We have them lining our backyard fence. We love them and they bloom all summer long. The pollinators love them!
It is. Hibiscus syriacus aka Rose of Sharon
@@kyrad6543 mine have been in the family for 60+ years, given to us from Gandma's garden, and further propagated from seeds over the last 30 years. I meant that I was surprised that her brand new variety looks so similar to our old-school ones.
Getting ready for my wedding but I had to watch your morning video first ❤️😜You always brighten my day so today of all days I wanted to start it off right❤️❤️❤️
Have a blessed day!
It's like comfort food, isn't it? Congratulations!
BTW, have a good trip to Mackinac Island and the garden show!. Wish I could've been there! Love to hear all about it!!
Wow, what a lovely comment 😊 capturing my attention, if i may ask how are you and your lovely family ??
I am really inspired by the phrasing "romancing the ordinary." In my own garden, I have a little area where I compost. And, it's not pretty at the moment, but the garden plan for it is to actually put in some beautiful scented and potted plants around so that this little "ordinary/functional" space is also beautiful.
Vitex is an amazing plant. In all my years of gardening, it is THE MOST pollinator and beneficial insect attracting plant I have ever grown. ❤️❤️❤️
My favorite too! I limbed mine up a few years ago and it looks like a beautiful tree. Seriously one of the best plants!
Laura …everywhere we look is beautiful….I have a garden and at 91 I can appreciate all your hard work …it all looks pristine…your such an inspiration…..Thanks 🥰
Go, You!!! 🤩🙌
I LOVE all of the new hydrangeas! So many sizes to choose from now! In love!
Very cool video technique of showing “multiple Laura’s” planting all at the same time.
It is so interesting when I see you planting a Rose of Sharon because in our area if you plant one you have to plan for 50. Different areas produce so differently. You are so wonderful in being inclusive with your information. Thanks
Whooped!!………Garden Answer with Laura and Russel! 😀
Laura,
I garden in zone 6b in New York.
Those hydrangea are just cute as can be. I like that they are smaller and can't wait to get my hands on some
Oh babyyyy, I wish you could feel what it's like here in northern Florida 😂 we went on vacation to south Florida this year and it was LESS humid down there and the temperature was LOWER. I walk outside into what feels like a invisible cloud with moisture all over me. I was born and raised here so I've adapted too it, and honestly haven't been anywhere that isn't humid in my lifetime yet so it would be so interesting for us to switch spots for a day🤣💜
Btw it's 89% humidity today😅
I wish I have a wide yard like yours even just 1/4 of yours I’ll be super happy……. I love plant’s especially flowering one they are stress reliever😊.. love your garden
Good morning Garden Answer. Everything looks lovely today.
I think what makes me enjoy your videos is the enjoyment you find in your beautiful garden! It makes me want to try different plants. I look for more unique plants now myself! Have a super happy day!🍀🌿🌷🌻🕊💚🙏🏼🥰
I can only image all the dried arrangements you are going to create with all those gorgeous flowers you have. Many blessings my friend
Thanks God for Paul helps
The yellow house color on the new construction house is a beautiful backdrop to your garden 🪴
I’m thinking I could put a tiny quick fire hydrangea in a large pot for the patio next year. Right?
Enjoyed hearing the music again! Your gardens are lovely!
Love these shrubs. Looking great

I would love to see a video from Aaron on how he shapes or prunes the arborvitae. He does a great job!
Bravo
Pollinators love our vitex(chaste) tree! And the blooms are beautiful. We trim the first blooms off and get a second and sometimes 3rd bloom. Zone 9a
Laura, I'm cracking up ....you've got 20% humidity ....this morning it's 75 with 89% humidity in Ga.!
