Music is timeless. You know what touches you as a person for whatever reason. This band plays great. And Brent knows how to feel what he sings. Rock on!
I have to say that Shinedown's music and lyrics literally touch my soul. Particularly the attention attention album although sound of madness does too. The depth of emotion and the messages they send through their music is both uplifting and humbling. I'll be a fan forever ❤️
Brent Smith you have changed my life. I was in a car accident 5 years ago and doctors told me that I wouldn't be able to walk again. I was paralyzed from the chest down. I listened to many of your songs, and the lyrics and watched tons of your interviews, and you the band helped me overcome what the doctors claimed I couldn't. I was in the wheelchair for 3-4 years in a downward spiral of depression and alcoholism and of course drug addiction. I started listening to your music everyday to get me motivated and really started to see the pattern in the lyrics that you write and the meaning you're trying to convey to all of us. EVERYONE has their demons and EVERYONE can overcome them. I love you so much and so do my kids. I hope to meet you one day. And even if I don't, please continue to be the heart and soul of future generations. I love you and I love Shinedown!
I can relate to this dude so much. Literally took the thoughts right out of my head. I just wrote an article about steadily losing the art of conversation. Some of the younger generation have 0 social awareness outside of their "followers" and celebrities and influencers and that's just not real life for most folks. When these kids graduate and have to get blue-collar jobs or have technical skills outside of electronics that actually require practical skills and practical thinking or the military or anything that may require conflict or confrontation all that time on a smart phone or in front of a screen doesn't provide much practical application at all. Awesome interview though and defintely excited to hear this album in it's entirety. Shinedown has been a great band since their first album. Seen em live a few times and they get a crowd going singing along to almost every song. Thanks Brent! See ya soon!
The Album covers so many emotions that we all go through If someone puts you down and they do it often enough its difficult to pull yourself back up because the bad stuff is easier to believe but there are certain songs from this Album like Get Up, Special and Brilliant that make you realise that its okay not to be okay but to never give up and to rise above it cos your not on your own and none of us are the be all and end all
As I was growing up my most favorite bands were Metallica and Ozzy but now that I am much older Shinedown and LP are my top favorite bands and this new album by Shinedown has got to be one of the most amazing albums I have ever listened to... It speaks to the soul in the most amazing way... Thank you to Shinedown for making this for all of us to get to listen to and become obsessed with =)
My husband does not use social media and is rarely on his phone unless he is making a call. I however have a problem. We got into a "discussion" not long ago and decided to do something about it. Once a week we go for a long drive and/or out to dinner and I leave my phone at home (he has his so the kids can reach us). Not going to lie, the first couple times I struggled. Now it is very engaging and enjoyable.
Their new album is awesome and Get UP is hands down the best song they have ever done.Hell it could be the greatest song ever can't stop listening to it lol

My biggest mistake was "taking a break" from writing and going back to school. 26 years that I could have been writing and building a career I wasted on school. To be a writer was why I dropped out of school in the first place.
