I live in a remote area and nearly all of my fabric is shipped. It would arrive and I couldn’t remember what I had planned for it. Now I have a system. I order my fabric. I email the payment receipt to myself and change the subject line to the pattern name or designer or put unknown because I have no real firm plan for it. I have an email folder titled INCOMING FABRIC. I can quickly look it up when it arrives, grab pattern, put in a project box and place it on my cutting table. If I don’t yet know what I’m going to do with it it goes in my stash. This exercise caused me to more closely realize what my true style was and was not. I also realized that I have way to much unused fabric and am decreasing that as well. I would rather spend my time on things I love than current trends or the must have of the day.
I live in a remote location too and I have stacks of fabric that I forgot what project I ordered it for. Your plan is genius. I will try the same method. Thank you!
I asked myself this past weekend "What's the next step?" on six WIPs that I have to do. It worked for me because I got two tops put together as of today!
You always do great on your projects!! I love the tip about thinking about the next step! You are such an inspiration on getting lots finished. Thank you for sharing with us!! Looking forward to your next video!!😍
Great tip at the end with 'What is the next step' - I often stop when it comes to quilting or choosing layout - and projects sit a that point. You have inspired me to just take that 'next step'. Lovely projects Sherri!
You have such great tips! They all make perfect sense and a much needed gentle push for organization and goal setting! Mine also using the FQS Sew Sampler things. Everyone I’ve done, I’ve loved. So much fun, just need more time! Thanks! Beth
You’ve made great progress Sherri. Love your tip at the end about “what’s your next step”. I’ve had a small quilt kit on my dining room table. Sorted the charms in order but am afraid to cut them to size probably because it’s a kit without extra squares in case I make a cutting mistake. But I guess if I do can always pull similar color from my stash. I just have to go into it with a fresh mind and cut so I can start sewing. See you next time.
Thank you Sherri for another great video and tips. I’ve just used the next step technique with my socialites blocks as I’d fallen behind. Today I have cut each block and placed on a design board next to my machine. They are ready now whenever I am 😀
I have some 2” hexagon papaya too. I will make this and wait for your next update to see how you finished it. Don’t forget about showing us. Also I love this quilt.
Sherri, I would love to see the entire Hope Chest quilt. I loved how you used fabrics from your different collections in this one quilt. Could you include that in a future webcast/video, please?
Very inspiring! In the past, I would start a project and feel that I couldn't work on anything else until it was completely finished. Not so anymore - now I have several projects going, all at different stages. Your advice about "what is the next step" is great, because I find that some projects get stalled because the next step might be something I don't enjoy so much, so I put them aside. I think focusing on the next step will help me move forward on some things I'm stuck on.
Sherri- WOW😳 you’ve accomplished so much! Thank you for all the inspiring thoughts you provide!!! Beautiful work, I’m really liking the mini squares🤔, perhaps one day😝. ❤️😀
You have done so well making progress, wish I could say the same lol. I think your progress has inspired me to dig out some of my projects that need completing. What size 1/2 square triangles does the paper you showed make. I can make without but as I get older I find it is harder to be accurate and I put off those jobs as that is what they become is jobs and not pleasure. I am also anxious to see what you make with your 1/8 yd. material. When I was shorting in my cupboards this weekend I came across a small bundle of 1/8 yd material and I am not sure what to do with them. Thank you for you show, I really enjoy checking in.
Love your progress, you are very productive. What’s the next step; for me it would be just starting. I have all these projects and freeze when it’s time to start. I even procrastinate on the starching of the fabric. Then I get anxious over the cutting. Then I love the piecing of the quilt. So frustrating to pull myself together and just start. I am a work in progress, I will conquer this fear of starting a project. 😀
So inspiring to see all of your progress and love the tips too! I have some hexie papers that size and love the table topper. Are you planning to keep the shape or make it a block? I would love to see how to do the backing on that shape. Thank you for continuing to share your projects!
Great tip for getting started on a project and keeping it going! You mention using fabric from your previous lines. I’m curious if you save fabric from all of your collections as a keepsake that you’ll never use like a precut such as a jelly roll or fat quarter bundle.
These updates are my favourites of all your videos- a lovely quilty chat! 🙂

Great idea!! I tend to forget what plans I had for fabric too!!!🙄 I might need to try your idea too!!
Wowwww, that’s an awesome idea ❤️😀

Do you have a tutorial on how to use that triangle paper? I don't recall seeing that before. Thank you.
