  • Immersed finally dropped their beta app! So, of course, I wanted to test it out to see how many bugs I could find. Along the way, I got to enjoy some five-screen awesomeness.
*Note - Seems like some of the bugs have been fixes since this video was filmed. Yay!

I kinda wish this wasn't a "fully immersive" app, so that you could open monitors alongside other visionOS apps. I hope long-term they offer both options.
I worked in Immersed for several months using my Quest 3 before buying an AVP for the increased resolution/quality. I was able to substitute Immersed with mac mirroring + splitscreen + several visionOS apps. I hope that eventually I'll be able to do something like this with Immersed.

I totally agree! I would love to not have all my screens reset every time I want to check my messages.

Just a heads up: MAC dock placement is weird... When you set your dock to one of the borders, it will always push as far as it can... That's why it snapped to the window to the bottom (that was placed on the left)...
I never really liked, because it changes the position depending on your work configuration.
Anyway, nice review... Can't wait to put my hands on a Vision Pro...

Hey Ryan Peterson: Does it work with cable or only remote for now? I use Immersed on Quest 3, but I use it connected with a USBC cable to reduce latency and was wondering if the same is possible on Vision Pro (maybe using the vision pro developer strap?)

It does have an option in the desktop client that is in beta for use with the Apple Dev Strap. I unfortunately do not have one to test but would love to if I can ever get my hands on one

Hey there! Great breakdown. I have preordered the Visor by immersed but who knows when it will ship. I’m considering buying an AVP. What’s holding me back is I’m not certain how the quality of life is when working in applications that have a lot of UI /GUI intricacies that need to be worked with.
I work mostly in Houdini, Cinema 4D and occasionally in Nuke / After effects. I currently use 3 physical monitors but it would be nice to break free of my desk and work in other places when I want. I see your using AE which can requires some precision use of the display. How’s it working in those types of apps long over longer periods of time ( 6hrs or more )?
    Thank you!

I preordered the visor as well, and I don't think we are seeing that any before October, as they are not even showing live hands-on demos until September.
As far as working with VisionPro, it is really nice to work in. I have used it for several 8-hour stents and not had an issue. Now I do take it off when I leave my desk, so that helps with any of the weight issues. I also have that second strap, which is really helpful as well!
I have used it in editing, coding, and other random tasks with no issues. For editing, its just like working on my 4K monitor connected to my Macbook Pro, but I can make it a lot bigger! If you are looking to be more mobile, I would recommend it for sure. We travel a lot for our video production shoots that we do, and I take the VisionPro with me every time.
Immersed has some delays every now and then, "which can cause issues when editing," but that's just network problems and not being able to have a direct connection.
I will say that if you havent checked out the new Vision OS 2.0 update. I would highly recommend checking it out. I think that will really help with any quality issues that are currently there or caused by network problems. Also, you will be getting two new view modes from the Mac: Wide-Mode, which I think is like having two 4K monitors side by side and Ultra-Wide, which is a 180-degree screen straight from the Mac. So if your used to using multiple monitors, this will be awesome.
Overall, I have been really happy with the VisionPro, and it only seems to be getting better. The only real downside is the weight, but the duel headbands really helps out with that. I hope this helps :)

When can we download this app on the Appstore?

    • @RyanPeterson-5053

They have submitted the app to Apple and are just waiting for them to approve it. It was supposed to be at the end of last week. But they had to resubmit it and are still working with Apple to get it approved.

@@RyanPeterson-5053 I am checking every single day whether it is uploaded or not in the Appstore. I can't wait for that.

It seems unnecessarily redundant. You already can mirror your laptop and make it so big you have two windows open as it is. And then just open a bunch of different apps or windows already via the pro.

For my use case, it is very much needed. I love Apple's screen mirroring! but I hate having to log out of my Apple account to switch my AVP over to my work computer from my personal one. Now I can leave it signed into my personal Mac and just fire up Immersed for my work, which is amazing! It makes working remotely a little easier.

@@RyanPeterson-5053 ahh I see what you mean. I use the mirror feature on the MacBook in my AVP and then just add other screens around it. Or make the mirrored screen so large that I can fit everything with ease. But glad it works for you!!

I’m sorry, but this looks terrible, it looks like the Quest OS! What I mean is for $3500 the AVP OS actually has 3D windows! Windows in the back, in front, up and down. Windows placed around 3 dimensional space. You can walk around between windows. It’s absolutely believable. Quest productivity features look and feel like 2D, like a big curved flat monitor. Every window is side to side. It’s beta but so far, it’s losing the 3D magic.

I have both Quest 3 and the AVP and I think what you are seeing in the screen recordings is not doing it justice. All of the text is clear, and everything is way sharper than in the quest version. Now, as for the 3D environment, I agree that it is not as clean as Vision OS or as user-friendly. I am just really hoping they can work on it in the future.
