Patti LaBelle - You'll Never Walk Alone (Oscar Hammerstein Medley)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 май 2010
- A moving medley of Rodger & Hammerstein songs from a televised tribute. It starts with a choral reading of a medley of the reprise of "Sixteen Going On Seventeen" (from THE SOUND OF MUSIC) and a line or two of both "Some Enchanted Evening" and "Happy Talk" (from SOUTH PACIFIC) that morphs into the New York Gay Men's Chorus' beautiful reading of "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" (also from THE SOUND OF MUSIC), which blends into Patti LaBelle's entrance with an astounding version of "You'll Never Walk Alone", one of the duo's greatest songs. It should move you to simultaneous tears and joy (unless you're a robot).

Patti labelle is an American treasure and ALL people love her. Every race, color, gender and religion because her voice is timeless and magic.
Sincerely
Wow Ms Patti, what restraint and operatic tendencies you showed on this performance. Much Respect. Love you Queen.
i will walk with patti :)
Omg seeing lloyd’s comment after he passed away! sad 🥺 We both love Patti and Mariah!
Kuya lloyd❤🙇🏽♂️
Kuya Llyod I miss you :'(
and her rendition of this number at the Apollo in 1985 is even twice as stunning!
This performance doesn't have anything on that Apollo performance!!! LOL
vinobody yes very gospel
I like this one better.
Yes. It truly is.
@@gabbanadrippin Your opinion,it's just as good.
LaBelle tore that ish up! They all have an awesome performance.
Patti NEVER sings the same songs the same way with each performance, whether she's doing an original or cover; I've seen many vids of Patti singing You'll Never Walk Alone, and she tears that song a new one every time.
Reinvents every single time
Thats because every time she sings it, shes feeling it
TRUTH!!!!
All the greats did this. Whitney, Aretha, Nina, Billie
I'm sitting here crying my eyes out because this song is so powerful, and I love that Miss LaBelle has always been a friend to the gay community, as well as other oppressed people. She is a treasure to humanity.
I've commented on this performance before, but it's almost as though I'm seeing it for the first time tonight. Patti can sing like no other. I've seen many singers sing notes but Patti brings them to life. Her style isn't for everyone and that's alright. I simply love the amount of heartfelt emotion she pours into every note............ God bless you Patti.
Amen
When she sings like this it brings tears to my eyes. Her voice reaches into one's soul so to speak.
I love Patti always will
#GREATESTVOCALISTOFALLTIME
That high note at the end though🙌🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👌🏿👍🏿Ms. Patti Labelle is the true Queen👑 always has been, always will be #GreatLegend🌷💕
The feeling in her voice from 4:17 to the end 😢😢 I'm a hold it in though... AMAZING!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌
me too, tears in my eyes.
Two things come to my mind when I watch this performance. 1. She has beautiful control and her softer vocals are superb. 2. Around 3:43-44 the effortless power of the note she hits. I cannot imagine any other amazing female or male vocalist for that matter, wanting to have to belt next to Patti. Truly an incredible and phenomenally powerful vocal talent.
Cissy Houston can put up a fight with Miss Patti
Albert Allen Cissy can stay her ass in the back where she belong IN THE BACK GROUND
pat gorden lol why so much hate for Cissy?
I don't hate her actually I have much respect for her
I just don't like when people try to put others against another
So let's put the idea to rest that the last note is "off key." Patti sings an interval most people aren't accustomed to hearing at the end of song but is technically singing in the key of the song. The song is in the key of G major. At the end, Patti sings from the note B to A, both notes ARE in key of G, which is a "dominant 7th interval." The male choir ends on notes G below her. Patti's note "lifts" the melody out of the harmony of the song to match the ascending ideal of the lyric "Walk Oooooooon..." In the 1966 version Patti & the Bluebelles sang this song the same way. In the 1960's performance at the Brooklyn Fox Theater, the song's key was F major. Patti ends the song from D to C ("a dominant 7th interval" IN the key of F). Again, Patti's and the girls sang a ringing, "rising tone," which make the crowd go bonkers! If you don't believe this try sing "walk on" at keyboard as above. If you do believe that then should be astounded Patti sang the same way she did nearly 30 years apart, in higher key than she did in the '60. Now that THERE is power and spirit and anointing! Plain and simple.
She was NOT off-key one bit...She has PERFECT pitch...
SOS produce me.
Antone who thought that was off key has off key hearing.
we disagree here. the last note was simply out of tune. so much so it sounds like a wrong note.
Ok I see what he is saying. Patti hits a note almost 30 years apart. The same note she hits in the 1960's version. Dam that woman can plain and simply SING, OMG!!!!!!!!!
My God, every time Patti sings she gives me something new. No words. This was everything it needed to be and then some.
Patti is amazing. No one can touch her. She does an incredible job with this song. She is blessed with this voice that she unleashes like a tornado. Outstanding performance.
I love her restraint in this performance.
Patti is the EMPRESS OF SOUL.
She's the godmother of Soul. Gladys Knight is the Empress of Soul
@@elijahmitchell9681 and Aretha the Queen!
@@salem8617 All women who can sing with soul is the the queens of our souls.
This probably only performance where she had to hold back...I like it you get to actually hear her voice
God gave her some talent. She's able to sing over the entire choir with ease.
This song gives me chills, that is the Holy Spirit.
I've seen this youtube video a million times and this is the first time I didn't skip to Patti. LOL
but i skipped again...
It starts at 1:58. You're welcome :)
Can you imagine being the performer who has to follow Patti when she sings live......and when she goes nuclear... get out of the way...That last note she hits here is unreal...true operatic talent there..
I had this Rodgers & Hammerstein concert on VHS and played it so many times it wore out and I was so sad to not be able to find it on dvd. I'm so happy to see moments like this one on RUclips. Patti was and is marvelous!
Holy, moly! Somebody bring me a tissue!
Lol
@@shyanj3160 uh, me too please. lol
"THE QUEEN RINGS AGAIN"
Aretha is THE QUEEN.
@@isaacortiz4617 Aretha is dead
bless 70 years of Queen vocals when you leave this earth I will tear but be happy to have heard such a God giving blessing go mama Patti
Why are you talking about her dying? That's plain stupid.
Rafael Storm it’s not stupid it’s a reality that’ll happen
well let's just enjoy her while she here and by the way in 1964 at the Apollo she sang that song for three months straight at ameteur night winning Everytime you never get tired of hearing her sing Patti LaBelle and the blue bells
4:43 Now That's resonance of voice
Sarah Dash of labelle said her voice has a bell-like quality and I agree, that's where that "church" tone comes from.
4:43
Patti LaBelle is definitely the real thing! Extraordinarily talented!
I have loved this lady since forever and so glad to have experienced so many of her live performances back at the height of her carreer. There is no other like her.
Wow!
This was absolutely amazing, that ending.........
Her face right before she hit that high note was priceless. It was like "Okay I got to hit this note right now." lol
Powerful! We love Patti. She is a unique and wonderful song artist.
It is funny how Patti's voice got more powerful and pleasant as she got older.
She floors me every time I hear her sing!!
Wow, what a great voice!
The most soulful female voice of any singer in the world, bar none. The other most soulful voice of male singers being otis Redding. Her voice just reaches into your emotions.
AMAZING GRACE HOW LOVING GOD IS. I LOVE IT!
one word LEGEND.......Miss Patti Labelle
Great Moments in music 👊🏻💎🎁🕯♥️
She's freaking so Incredible! She Always Brings The House Down And Raises The Roof Up With Every And All The Amazingly Beautifully Great Astounding Performances She Does! 🎤🎼❤️🙏😇
This is 2019 and Pattie is still the Queen Of Soul , thumbs up if you enjoyed this song and beautiful show .
50 and above hitting notes like that...True legend 50 yrs in the game...I love Patti
Damn right!!! Everybody in the house liked that!!!!
I just love Miss Patti so much. I came to her late in life (saw her front row in Vegas the week "On My Own" hit number one) and have been a fan ever since.
absolutely the most soulful voice i.ve ever heard. can make you cry.
She can literally sing you to tears.
Outstanding! The entire performance! Thanks~
I saw her in Montreaux when she was 60. She blew everybody away. SHE IS THE BEST. What a voice. What energy. What audience interaction and she is BEAUTIFUL. My wife and I were in awe.....after a 2 hour concert in the montreaux summer heat.
I saw Chaka Khan there in 1993. I wish I would’ve seen Patti there.
She is AWESOME! Her voice is a living wonderful thing! Love The Patti
I have never seen this before. So glad I came across this performance ! Thanks!
The voice of an Angel
This is the best thing I have ever heard in the life.
the best the one that brings you to tears is the one she sang in that purple dress with that choir
Besides her amazing vocal splendor, ability and perfect command of the technique, Patti is not only beautiful from her regal outside, but also Inside. You can feel the dignity, the pathos, the concentration and the generosity of this uniquely talented Lady. Too bad she hardly performs in Europe where I live. Bless Her.
I love this lady singing..
I’m crying!!!!
I JUST GOT CHILLS!!!! 2020!❤
I see comments about that last note being off; it sounds good to me. if she were "someone else" you'd be saying she's singing opera notes at that point which she was. love how she literally sent up a prayer before hitting that note.
+stillwill2215 There's no such thing as opera notes lol. It was a solid note for a woman in her 50s
It was off as the chords changed but it was really really great but i think she realized so she added her siggnature "whooo" at the end
Epp Omilid Setit for this type of song, and the way she song it that note was appropriate. Furthermore, yes the note should have been 2 1/2 notes higher but because of what note she left off on, the note was dropped which was perfectly ok because it was the same but different range
@@popland1977 of course there is no such thing as 'opera notes'- and likewise, there is no such thing as Opera, right? What an asinine statement.
4:00 Miss Patti serving vocals!!! AMAZING!!!
Pure royalty 💯🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
God Anointed that woman thank you jesus for blessing us
You get the people talking in the beginning then you get Ms Patti
YOU BETTER SING THAT SONG PATTY! I LIVE!

She looked astounding! And that voice contains something so heavenly that it leaves me breathless. I have been listening to Patti when she was Patti Labelle and Bluebelles, to Labelle and now Patti! She is miraculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow not a flat note anywhere thanks mpm33t for giving us the heads up. Beautiful done if you have a perfect pitch like I do she was magnificent. Love the fact that the Gay chior was her opening act.
I love patti labelle. I've been a fan for 20 yrs.

Amazing!!!!
What an Instrument. Simply AMAZING! LOVE YOU!
Brilliant! Patti is such a timeless diva! Love her!!!
she's like so old, patti, but her voice is still as awesome as she first came out. she is really gifted and she is caring for the talent of voice god gave her. bless thee.
The best version was in the 80s big hair purple dress
That was great but IMO I think the best when she was a teenager at the Apollo. But they're all so different it's hard to decide. I love them all really.
Nah. I think in terms of musicianship i.e consideration for the lyrics/arrangement and delivering a complimentary vocal this one was far superior to the 80s purple dress one. That performance was more about her impressing with wild theatrical vocals as opposed to expressing and unlocking the meaning and emotion within the song.
@@dawudjibreel6075 It was all emotion. That's why I love it.
That was the worse one in my opinion lol
You must not have seen her 1962 performance of this song at The Apollo. THAT'S the best!
Hello evryone! That is me who have right the other in Swedich. This is my thanks for that this clip comes back. I love it and think that this is one of miss Pattis best preformans and the Gay man in New York.
Thank you whit all my love/Thomas

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OUTSTANDING
Awesome!!!!!
Im surprised there was a single queen standing.
Sweet Sounds.
MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!!
GODMOTHER OF SOUL.
Gran versión de esta excelente canción.¡¡¡
can't stand haters its not like anyone commenting on this can do any better. For an artist that has been out for 4 decades now in their sixties she is a LEGEND, so what if she has to take an extra breath or go an octave lower to achieve the length to hold a note. Beside all top a-list black soul singer including (Teena Marie R.I.P) use falsetto in their upper register notes, it gives them more dimension. Even Celine Dion does that nowadays.
Did you notice all the men were smiling behind Patti? lol
Jessica Brown Aren't they the gay mens choir of NTC? They are doing a tribute to a Broadway legend , and LaBelle is the lead. It doesn't get gayer or happier.
Lmbo. You might be right.
+Jessica Brown Of course they are. I don't know a gay man alive including myself who doesn't worship the phenom Ms. Labelle...LOL
+tomtalker2000 so true..lol
