Lowko, I'd recommend you do the Zeratul missions before advancing with the Terran missions. You will get tons of research that will give you an amazing advantage and they are also very good and give you the good type of creeps (not the zerg creep, even though you will see quite a lot of that too). Might I add, his playthrough is very pleasant to watch, keep it up! (Also, thank you for making me unable to unsee a giraffe every time I see a colossus)
It's optimal to play the Protoss missions because they don't have to be upgraded and they give a ton of free research points for the Terran missions. Also, they provide a lot of backstory for Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. In particular, the last Protoss mission in Wings of Liberty and the third Protoss mission in Legacy of the Void mirror each other. The difference is that in LotV Sarah Kerrigan is still alive.
Doing "The Dig" as soon as it's available gives you such a huge tech boost. You get tanks, then go immediately through the Protoss missions. Also, re: Tosh / Nova choice, your team backs you no matter which side you choose. Hanson is tepid toward Nova, but she won't openly say "No! You made a terrible mistake!"
Please do the Nova mission too! On the Hyperion bridge you can go to the archives and play the other choice too. Won't effect your gameplay, and it's hilarious!
Perdition Turrets can still be useful when zealots hit the wall, though. Depots may have more hp (not sure, would have to check stats on that) but turrets do short range AoE and disappear if nothing is in range. Plus they raise and lower themselves so you can focus on your units. I also really wish lowko would realize how much value he can gain by putting siege tanks on that high ground over the northern path. Archons and immortals melt before they see the top, and only flying units/colossus give the enemy vision to hit them.
you did it! you actually did it... you upgraded your bunkers, yaaay! :D upgrade your marauders slowing shells, and put 4 marines and 1 marauder in a bunker, its even better! btw get that air turret upgrades, its really helpful against zergs (especially tons of mutas)
Aww yiss. Now you finally have something really worth of your credits Lowko :) And please do all Protoss missions ASAP and without sidetracking - it's good for story, last mission is one of my favorite in WoL and you'll get a ton of Zerg/Protoss research from them.
Kevkos I wonder if you play the campaign and never do the Zertul missions. If Raynor instead kills Kerrigan and you unlock the ignorance overwhelming achievement. :p
Ugh. I _hate_ In Utter Darkness, even on lower difficulties. It's not that it gets more difficult as it goes, it's the fact that the mission is a major time-sink.
The tubes only change when you gain a new upgrade in the laboratory, and they are supposed to be the leads how the new upgrades were created from the protos tech or zerg biology and its workings
I hated this mission the most because Horner said the Archons were the threat so I focused on them as the Immortals shredded my base at least 36 times D:
You should probably put off the Haven mission until near the very end. Regardless of your choice, you won't have Dr. Hanson around after it. And you seems to appreciate her conversation, if maybe not her fluttering eyelashes. On the contrary, the Protoss missions should probably get priority. There's a lot of research points up for grabs and they show what our guy Zeratul has been up to since meeting Duran.
I've gone through six hours of almost tedious work by having your gameplay in the background. This is amazing. I have finished the campaign. I know the storyline. Yet, this made this day so much easier.
I paused the video at "A lot of you mentioned that I should really consider upgrading my base defenses." He's not going to do it. He's trolling us. There's no way he goes through with it. I can hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes. He cannot fool me. This is not my first time on the internet. Okay... resume video.
i know you don't want to get it but concussive shells makes missions like that easier, the slowed units spend more time in kill zone of your tanks and not next to you. the tank upgrade's are something you need to get no matter what. both of them are great. that second upgrade for the scv's allows them to repair stuff faster which is good if you plan on repairing mech or buildings. you should go back after you've finished the campaign and do the missions you didn't do, not only for the achievements but to also see how those ones went.
bunker placement wasn't optimal and so was siege tanks placement. After building expansion enemies on the right side will just go and attack it so you just have to make them bleed before they do. That means you have to position as many siege tanks as you can in a corner of the high ground and others behind skeleton. Easy money ...
I did the Hanson missions at first because all of them are piece of cake with the new units and its easy early money, also having early vikings in artifact missions are sweet
Two comments for this episode. 1)There's 4 of those Crystal Missions and they grant a ton of research and your power level for them is set. From a gameplay point of view there's no reason to not do all of them before resuming the main missions. However you may find that to be a pace killer/find the research flood to be something that breaks the next few normal missions so there's your incentive to mix it up. 2)The mission you just did with the drill can be cheesed in a fun way if you play it with the orbital command center. The A.I actually uses an economy instead of spawn ins and will give up on replacing buildings if you kill them 2-3 times. If you scan for their nexus's and use the drill to kill them all few times, they'll stop gaining resources which cripples their end mission army.
The Hyperion is the second largest class of Battlecruiser made by the Terran Dominion. There are 3 Classes, Regular Battlecruisers, Hyperion Class and Gorgon Class
Um... So what's the "Regular", Behemoth-class or Minotaur-class? I've never heard of "Hyperion-class" in SC universe; Raynor's Hyperion is a Behemoth-class ship. Although Blizzard oddly redesigned its model for SC2 to resemble Minotaur-class. SC/BW showed Hyperion in a pure Behemoth class form: www.gamehackstudios.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/StarCraft-Brood-War-Free-Download-Full-Version-PC-Crack-10.jpg Also see: starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Hyperion starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Battlecruiser
Obuh Samateus I didn't know the official names, Jesus. The hyperion is larger than a battlecruiser you'd make at a starport but should be smaller than a gorgon bc
it's just a in-game model for it just like all hero units. Doesn't mean it's bigger than regular behemoth-class BC or that Bucephalus is bigger than regular gorgon. What's even more funny in cinematics Valerian's flagship looks like regular minotaur-class.
+Lowko TV In case you are curious, when you choose for Nova, you will see her in the hold on the ghost spot. It's just a glimps and she has a very long cycle, but every two minutes or something she decloaks and cloaks again (if you choose for ghosts instead of spectres).
Lowko, concussive shells are great when defending. You can put them in bunkers and slow down waves coming at you, and slowed enemies body block the guys behind them. There will be 3-4 defensive missions in the future, this is terran story after all.
the basics of life for the terran campaign: Marauder: concussive shells are a must, kinetic foam optional but recommended marines: shield yes, Stim packs, if they fit your style. medics: stabilizer medipack is a must, training only if you don't get tech reactors later on.you'll have a tech lab barracks most of the time anyways. Bunker, SCV and command centre, ALL upgrades, they will never not be helpful, especally the faster repair and the extinguishers Missile turret: both optional, but on harder difficulties recommended, especially if you have to expect mutalisks everything else as befits favorite tactics, i usually go for shrike and perdition turrets, strong as the PF is it deactivates all the useful abilities
Lowko, a secret mission called "Piercing the Shroud" can be unlocked once you finish Media Blitz WITH the collectible in the science laboratory on the most SouthEast part of the map. The mission's research points feels like the Protoss Mission.
At the end of the playthrough you should replay the missions that you have to pick a side. All the choices are really fun to play. Nova's mission was amazing.
I used to spam upgraded missile turrets on the ridges of the base while the entrances has been flooded with siege tanks, bunkers assisted with some SCV's repairing who ever gets close. While I build vikings to get the bonus objectives in this stage.
On the note of getting upgrades, the Marauder Concussive Shells upgrade is extremely useful when you use a bio-based army, which will be needed in some future missions.
This is one of those missions where marauder's upgrade - concussive shells is super awesome. Slowing down units before they get up the ramp, so your siege tanks will have more time to smash them. It will be handy for other missions too. Get that upgrade, it will help a lot. Also, you can take the bases down easily. Not going through the ramp, but fly there with a CC and use laser. Kill a few buildings, back of a little, repair CC, repeat.
Think of this mission as a form of light training for the last mission. The campaign tries to teach you to play the Terran defensively all for the last mission which is a timed hold out. There is no offensive objective, just defend. You can also think back (or forward) to the Terran portion of the the epilogue in Legacy of the Void.
Lol "I've got a lot of stuff" right after his 180+ supply worth of units drops to 120-. Gotta love lowko. Seriously, I think his commentary makes the whole series.
Fun fact, to save time at the start of this mission you can have the tank take out the pylon powering the 3 cannons so you can use the infantry to kill the cannons off afterwards.
So, in case you are curious, when you get to a mission where you get a choice between two people like the one with tosh and nova, after you play one, you can go to the ship archives on the bridge and play the other. It won't change the effect of your choice on the rest of the playthough, but it will let you play the other mission and see the resulting cut scene. Also, at the end of a story set of missions, you sometimes get a trophy you can look at in the cantina. They all show up above the door right around where your camera frame is.
Last time I checked moving up the protoss ramp acually required you to move UP THE RAMP. You kind of a-moved right in front of the temple itself while pulling everything from both of the protoss bases with your spread out army.
Lowko, i think you've guessed it by now, but yeah, the tanks change log info after you reach a new tier for either zerg of protoss research. also, the information is related to the reserch you unlocked. like how the first zerg log was talking about the spore crawler's enemy recognition (bunker auto turret) and ultralisk strain (tougher bunkers)
maybe to clearfy, everytime you unlock a new upgrade in the laboratory a new entry is aviable for either the crystel or the zerg specimen depending in which tech tree you get the upgrade so you dont need to worry to check everytime until you unlocked a new zerg or protoss ability
BTW mercenaries are supply efficient. They cost more than the base unit but they take up the same amount of supply. Very useful if you have surplus resources but limited supply.
This mission reminded me that I used to play RTS games like KKND2 or C&C Generals in which you had to be really carefull about your tank pathing. Like, a tank could accidentally roll over an infantry unit and kill it. XD
The protoss side missions Zeratul gives you can boost your research advantage if you do those protoss side missions before going on to regular missions.
Haha he wasnt saying you had defilers, he was calling you a defiler for defiling the temple. Great video, love watching you play through the campaign. Ive watched every campaign video for SC that you have put up. The wacraft ones arnt in order, but ive been peicing them together and watching those too. Youre such an entertaining streamer/youtuber. Keep up the good work Lowko!
Just make like 5 seige tanks on each side with 3 turrets, put down 2 bunkers on each side with 1 single SCV ready to repair them and your defence is solid. Place your tanks on the edge of the cliff. This was like a super easy mission. You made it look so difficult. I even thought of attack the protoss bases but decided i didn't have that much time.
Now that you've completed this mission, here's some cheese for it. One of the easiest ways to go about destroying stuff with your drill is to fly a barracks around. It's super tanky, and the drill can take out anything and everything that tries to shoot it down. Float it over to one of the objectives, destroy that objective, land the barracks, train a marine, collect the research. It's a totally unnecessary thing to do, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. You can do the same trick to take out all the Protoss bases. And if you use your laser to kill everything, you won't accidentally complete the mission before wiping everything off the map.
You get an achievement for cleaning up the majority of the Protoss structures, and killing the Protoss is a faster way to win the mission, too. I'm sure you're up to the challenge on your second playthrough :)
Fun thing about the story of WoL, no matter what choice you make it's the right one. The story changes a bit on the two main points and no matter which side Jim takes, he's on the right one. Side with Nova and Specters are all psycho nuts, side with Hanson during the later mission and she successfully cures and contains the Zerg Virus. With the path you've chosen the Specters are more intense than most but otherwise harmless and Hanson and all of her colonists are completely corrupted.
2 medics making love, I would pay to see that lol. I'm so glad you replayed starcraft from the beginning. although the story was much better in the original games it isnt so bad throughout SC2. The books are pretty interesting as well if you have a chance.
Get ready Lowko, Protoss mini-campaign incoming! And it's good to do it all at once before going back to the regular missions since you can potentially earn a lot of research that will make future missions easier. Have fun :)
Hi there Lowko. I also completed the wol on brutal and i bought both the upgrades for specters and made that research for more energy in the lab. They are preeety good tbh, i managed to complete a lot of missions just by spamming them. The lash is really helpfull vs bcs or carriers for example.
Lowko I recommend to do the Zeratul missions, because you will get a lot of protoss and zerg research. Terran maps will be easier with the unlocked tech. and keep up the good work, you're doing great :D
It really hurts when you see lowko moving the damned drill around. Just get bunkers tanks marauders and marines and leave the drill on the base + the relics and you can easily do this mission on 1 base on brutal :). Love you Lowko and as many have pointed out do the zeratul missions they are verry good for your upgrades etc.
In this mission you can just destroy the protoss bases and you finish the mission without destroying the doors. It is faster and more efficient since you just float a building and let the drill destroy photon cannons and units quickly preventing the later strong protoss units and giving you a solid period of time where the protoss have only a nexus left and you can mop up the side missions quickly.
Double repair for SCVs will be useful in some missons, as well as turret HP, you definitely should get this upgrades. And use your mercs, dont waste credits you spent on them :)
Lots of people have already said it, but it bears repeating. It's definitely worth doing *all* of the protoss Prophecy missions before going back to the main terran missions. You get a tonne of research to help in your campaign and none of the research you get helps with the Prophecy missions, so you don't benefit from putting them off.
Tosh is the only option tho. At least from Raynors pot. Shes not even nice to him later even IF he helps her. So theres that. Im also hyped for you playing the christal. ^^
You do a lot of damage to the Protoss bases, but you really want to take advantage of the laser drill if that's what you want to do. It works on buildings too.
A normal Battlecruiser can hold up to 8000 crewmembers! And the Hyperion being a flagship and a bigger model than your usual battlecruiser it HAS to be big enough.
lowko The remaining mercenaries are unlocked wwhen you unlock Banshees, Vikings, Siege Tanks and Battlecruisers if memory serves me right. You should get the last marauder upgrade as well as Siege Tank upgrades the maelstrom rounds especially. In the mission where you expose mengsk with the adjutants data you should unlock the 'secret' mission by going southeast and northwest where there are science labs (or tech labs?) on small islands. Zeratul's memories grant research points and ties into the secret mission There's also a WoW reference (unit) on one of the asteroids in the secret mission. You're going to do a lot of defending in this campaign, might as well get the turret upgrades.
Let me suggest you the upgrades for the Firebats. Honestly they are my favourite units from the terran race, but those guys are really cool if you are facing a lot of bio zerg, and they can go with your bio or even mech army, as a kind of "peeling" for your other units . If I recall well you prefer the marauders at all, but since it's the campaign anyway, you can give it a try. Last but not least, watching several units just burn is.... well, can be kinda satisfying.
Concerning Upgrades: Marauder and Siege Tank ones are pretty good as well. Edit: If I remember correctly, the Hyperion is ~800m and has a crew of about 6000 (thats the standart crew of a Behemoth Battlecruiser, which the Hyperion is one, however, it could also have significantly less crew, minimum for a Battlecruiser crew is 1200)
Always spend your credits. I agree, not so much on merc, more on bio and mech but spend them. And please do all the missions. Like if you know you want to continue with the Tosh mission as the completed mission through the game, then start with Nova, then go back, play Tosh and continue the game.
Anyone wanting to Wol campaign always do the dog mission asap then all the protoss missions so you get max benefit from the lab early. Get all base upgrades as makes the final mission easier 😆BTW just did hots on brutal and easier than wol. Cheers lowko
Hey lowko. After every zeratul mission each character in the game has something to say, if u want u can look into it. FYI the protoss crystal and zerg chamber logs in laboratory gets updated once u unlock the next tier of research in the research panel. This can at least stop u from checking the chambers everytime. Finally spectres are pretty good man. U played tosh already and know the mind blast skill damages and stuns for 2 secs. Can be really helpful if there are multiple broodlords, banes ultras etc. Make more specs and less marines/units die
Toss missions before the secret mission unlocks additional dialpg
He should alternate between protoss and terran missions.

You have to watch TV after every Zeratul mission. The best ones
Please do the Nova mission too! On the Hyperion bridge you can go to the archives and play the other choice too. Won't effect your gameplay, and it's hilarious!
Lowko read this please
I found it really funny how in the Nova choice everybody (Raynor, Matt) wears evil smirks, similar to Narud-Raynor in HotS.
especially if you wanna know what's with Tosh's doll :D
The cutscene at the end of the mission is rather amusing.
But there arent much advantage to replay nova (in term of credits nor research)
you have the static defence flame throwers, remember? you can wall of with those instad of the depoes
they are only really good against zerglings. bunkers have much more HP and are more cost effective against most other things
Perdition Turrets can still be useful when zealots hit the wall, though. Depots may have more hp (not sure, would have to check stats on that) but turrets do short range AoE and disappear if nothing is in range. Kevkos I wonder if you play the campaign and never do the Zertul missions. If Raynor instead kills Kerrigan and you unlock the ignorance overwhelming achievement. :p
In addition, it makes the next story missions that much easier when you have the Prophecy missions completed due to having the research done sooner.
listen to him lowko this guys knows what up.
Have to agree, do the protoss missions next....oh and dont forget to click on the artifact....
Ugh. I _hate_ In Utter Darkness, even on lower difficulties. It's not that it gets more difficult as it goes, it's the fact that the mission is a major time-sink.

This is how you get punched in the face, Zeratul. Set up a meeting in a nicer room or something!
At least Zeratul knows better than to knock over your jukebox! Also the dude never tracks dirt over your clean floors.
Man I would have loved for Raynor to deck him then realize who it is XD
That's exactly what happens with him and Kerrigan in Heart of the Swarm
At least he didn’t show up from behind
I hated this mission the most because Horner said the Archons were the threat so I focused on them as the Immortals shredded my base at least 36 times D:
idk how many times do we have to say Lowko.. *DO NOT PLAY HAVEN YET!*
ENTARO ZERATUL
I'm so sad because he died in Lotv ;(
Wait its not altaro? Damn ;(
You should probably put off the Haven mission until near the very end. Regardless of your choice, you won't have Dr. Hanson around after it. And you seems to appreciate her conversation, if maybe not her fluttering eyelashes.

I made Haven mission right before Char. As result I complete it with battlecrusiers
I've gone through six hours of almost tedious work by having your gameplay in the background. This is amazing. I have finished the campaign. I know the storyline. Yet, this made this day so much easier.
A giraffe shooting lasers from its eyes...someone with the skills must draw it! XD
Someone on Reddit had the same thought six years ago.

I think the Barrens just got a lot more scary. Just when you thought the chat channel was over, we get this.
I paused the video at "A lot of you mentioned that I should really consider upgrading my base defenses." He's not going to do it. He's trolling us. There's no way he goes through with it. Okay... resume video.
Holy shit, he did it. He upgraded his bunkers. Holy. Shit.
he should use the bunkers in his walls(instead of pure depots)
Baby steps, man. Baby steps. We got as far as "Oh hey, look at how many marines I can put in this bunker!" There's hope!
definetly
Upgrading them is one thing, actually making use of them is another entirely.

I’m watching these 3 years after the fact, but I still keep screaming in my head “PERDITION TURRETS” whenever you start walling in haha.
Do the crystal missions first if y can they are very cool and they give y a lot of protoss research that will help y a lot in the next missions
and zerg research as well
I tend to always do all of the Protoss missions for the research before continuing the campaign.
I did the Hanson missions at first because all of them are piece of cake with the new units and its easy early money, also having early vikings in artifact missions are sweet
Zeratul missions are the best in terran campaign especially the last one.
bacd 1990 but, redstone III is a thing.

I like that the specters at 0:50 are using marine rifles instead of the sniper rifles.

Well Tychus model is twice as large as marine it doesn't mean Tychus is so damn big. Same goes for Raynor.
Przemysław Stalmach I'm fairly sure the hyperion is larger than a conventional bc from a starport

Keep them episodes coming, Lowko. :)

damn son the starcraft 1 terran theme soundtrack is always good for those kind of background music i love it
26:21 - Classic blind Lowko. Not even seeing the Scout in his mineral line
Remember to play the "Haven" mission for last :D
You can lift off your barracks for the vision of retrieving the protoss artifacts.
Can also target protoss structures for the achievement
On the note of getting upgrades, the Marauder Concussive Shells upgrade is extremely useful when you use a bio-based army, which will be needed in some future missions.

I REALLY REALLY want you to se getting all the achivements of this mision. In my opinion, it's the hardest achivement to get.
This is my favorite mission in wings of liberty. If you use cloaked specters you can get the vision to drill the protoss bases to dust.
My favorite cast of yours. Plz keep um coming.
Thank you very much Lowko, I love watching you doing Lowko stuff.
I wish you could upload daily your SC2 Campaign playthrough tho.
Cheers!
Last time I checked moving up the protoss ramp acually required you to move UP THE RAMP. You kind of a-moved right in front of the temple itself while pulling everything from both of the protoss bases with your spread out army.
You MUST do all the bonus episode from zeratul, b4 doing anything else.
It will help you in the long run a LOT
It's the fully upgraded yet not present goliaths that drives me nuts watching this one. Still Lowko prevails, as ever.
NEED MORE! days between is killing me.
maybe to clearfy, everytime you unlock a new upgrade in the laboratory a new entry is aviable for either the crystel or the zerg specimen depending in which tech tree you get the upgrade
so you dont need to worry to check everytime until you unlocked a new zerg or protoss ability
Lowko, you madman, 3 bunkers are way better than one!
BTW mercenaries are supply efficient. They cost more than the base unit but they take up the same amount of supply. Very useful if you have surplus resources but limited supply.
Please make the next episode with zeratul. I really want to see all of those hatcheryes.
Save Haven mission for last lowko, you can actually listen to more of Ariel's interactions on your stuff in the lab
This mission reminded me that I used to play RTS games like KKND2 or C&C Generals in which you had to be really carefull about your tank pathing.
Like, a tank could accidentally roll over an infantry unit and kill it. XD
Psionic Lash helps a lot in the final mission. Getting some 15 to 20 specters can one shot, someone.
Siege Tanks:We have the high ground Protoss!
13:49
Every time you hit a research breakpoint (5, 10, 15, etc...) you get something new on those Zerg/Protoss research pods.
The Zerg and Protoss tanks in the lab only change when you get a new research upgrade.
viking, siegetank, scv and missle turret upgrades are the most important imo
The lash is really helpfull vs bcs or carriers for example.
please do the zeratul memories because that affect the storyline please lowko and its amazing
I got the quote from Zeratul "The answers you seek lie within" on some of my book :)
Do all the zeratul missions first. They give you additional reserch points which will be really useful in your other missions.
It's interesting to see how much the Tal'Darim have changed from this to Legacy of the Void
Hyperion is like a floating city. It is biger then the battlecruser at hots opening cinematic.
pleaseeee upload more frecuently videos of the campaign, i love this :D
To do the Zeratul stuff first is suggested, because you'll get a lot of research points
Lowko, please remember that you have the burrowing fire turret as well in your static defense tools, they only hit ground units tho
new episode of liberty of the wings, yay
Protoss and Zerg things updates with each tier of research you reach.
Let's be honest, Lowko, it's not her character, that draws fanboys, it's that she's assome : ^ )
Kārlis Briedis i want to believe "assome" wasn't an orthograph failure
I believe it wasn't. Not after Overwatch :D
It's a cute blond in a tight Ghost gear, what do you think?
lowko The remaining mercenaries are unlocked wwhen you unlock Banshees, Vikings, Siege Tanks and Battlecruisers if memory serves me right.
You should get the last marauder upgrade as well as Siege Tank upgrades the maelstrom rounds especially.
In the mission where you expose mengsk with the adjutants data you should unlock the 'secret' mission by going southeast and northwest where there are science labs (or tech labs?) on small islands.
Zeratul's memories grant research points and ties into the secret mission
There's also a WoW reference (unit) on one of the asteroids in the secret mission.
Do the Zeratul missions! THEY ARE SO GOOD!
Lowko Hyperion is about 1.5 km wide and 2.5 km long but biggest ship is Spear of Adun which is about 75 km long
Concerning Upgrades: Marauder and Siege Tank ones are pretty good as well.
