I'm just getting back into the hobby after 25 years and am so glad there are people like you who are willing to take their time to share these videos. These are some great colors. I think I'm going to use a lot of their candies. Thanks for the info. I subbed and ranged the bell.
You've talked me into it, now...I think I have to pick up these Alclads...they look too good...been loving your videos... especially how thorough you are...thanks for helping beginners like me!
In your commentary about the copper you thought that because it was so shiny it would not need "Aqua gloss". True as seen, but if you intend to handle the part, example, an air cleaner and its a fussy fit, of on again off again, trimming to get it sitting right, the "Aqua gloss" gives your part durability. Also I found that Alclad Chrome needs a very light air brushing, suggest 2 very light coats @12 to 15 psi to achieve coverage, example wheels, polish later with a Q-tip then "Aqua gloss". It was this product, the Alclad Chrome, that got me back into car modelling cuz kit chrome was way too toyish and I do not build toys. Cheers
New to the hobby. Many Thanks to your vids. Saving me $$$ with having to take out the guesswork on how paints will come out of the bottle. Would love to see a vid on Gloss/Metallic White paint comparison.
14:53, BINGO, I think I found the perfect color tone in building a Hasegawa kit 747 for a Northwest Airlines final livery paint scheme. It matches the real thing so well!
Omg omg, maybe I am wrong but I think I know what those test spoons at the end are! AND I LOVE THEM OH THAT IS SO COOL! :D :D :D I have white aluminum and I *love* that color! At some point when I am off my scribing and part duplication project I will be testing clear gaianotes and Mr Color paints over it because I think that it would make a really cool effect over that metallic look. I looked at the titanium RG Freedom Strike for $80 on P-Bandai and I couldn't help but think it was a kit that took away my fun of painting while charging me $50 extra. So I have challenged myself to replicate that look through airbrushing it. :D I'll be using the White Aluminum there quite extensively I think.
Also I have start to use SpruceBrothers! I grew up in the same metropolitan area they are located in and don't live too far from them even still - wow they ship to me fast as a result! Iwas going to recommend them as a shop that carries Alclad. I was sad to learn today that Newtype has seems to stop carrying the paints :( I can't find it on their site anymore.
I realized the same thing. There's a P Bandai Unicorn I wanted till I realized it's just different colors so I'm going to build my Mega Size Unicorn in the PBandai colors myself
@@barbatosrex9473 YES! Its just like "Okay, so I'm paying extra for less fun." Definitely not products for us! I can see why they get made though, not everyone has time or interest in doing it their self. So I am going to take alternate color kits as that kind of inspiration from now on. I want the Astray Noir on P-Bandai right now but if its not any different than one of the regular Astray kits, I'm just going to buy that kit and paint it. Painting is the most fun I've had in this hobby.
Hi, I’m back to scale modeling after a 20 year break. Yours is the only channel I subscribe to, it’s very informative and to the point. A quick question about Alclad. You mentioned they were an American company, in the UK (Norwich) we have Alclad II (Alclad 2) are they the same company? Does one have a licence for the others products? The product and quality appear the same?
The company is located in the UK and an office here in Tennessee, USA. It's the same company and paint. Ammo by Mig is now a distributor for them and the bottles say Ammo Mig Alclad
Many thanks for the confirmation, I can buy with confidence. I love your tutorials, I’m working my way through them in lockdown! My wife keeps asking “ are you ok? You’re very quiet”!
I have a video on my trigger Grex. I have an upcoming one on the side feed version. I'm also planning on buying their standard airbrush. Is there a certain model your talking about
Hi I was wondering if could help me with something I’m doing a Mazda rx-7 model build and just primed the body in badger grey primer and forgot wanted to do it in electric blue Alclad body colour would I still be able to put Candy silver base over that primer or would I need to find any body colour

Thanks for watching
Alclad is great stuff. I have always loved the stuff they made. There chrome is the best chrome it fixes my mistakes on plated parts perfectly.
I can't add any more to your comment. Alclad is great
New to the hobby of painting minis thanks for all the time and helpful info
Go back through all his videos. They are all great.

Great video as always, the photos at the end are really useful to compare/contrast against the alternative base coats too
Nicely done vids, Mr. Rex... thanks for posting them!
Been watching all your already videos...they look great...where are they made?

I will eventually get to testing every color I hope. A white comparison test is in the works

Looking forward to seeing the Vallejo tests. Heard a lot of good, bad and ugly about the paints. Now we'll see and learn the truth.
I figured them out. I'll be testing for you soon. I'm happy with my results thus far, you will be too
Yes, it is great, if you can find Alclad II colours anymore.
They've. Been re-released as A-Stand and are easier to get here in the U$
New to the hobby here thanks for all the testing
Tha ms for watching friend, many more to come 👍
Another solid video bro!

Great vid ....... Good stuff !! 👍👍👍👍
I just ordered a black chrome from Alcad. I can't tell from the computer what it will look like when I use it. Of course the best undercoat is black.
Black Chrome is one of my favorites. You'll be happy with it for sure. Awesome color
Any chance you could do a video of the Grex air brush?
I have a video on my trigger Grex. I have an upcoming one on the side feed version. I'm also planning on buying their standard airbrush. Is there a certain model your talking about
Great video! Going to paint a P51, what alclad paint do you recommend?
I would go with Aluminum or Duraluminum. Either of those are perfect for a P51
@@barbatosrex9473 Thanks, so much, Rex!
@@edstud1 you're welcome buddy
What kind of gloss did you use to go over the Exhuast Manifold? It looks great
Vallejo Gloss spray can
Awsome bro 👍🎄🎅🤶🎄⛄
Have you done reviews/tests with the Alclad clear colors?
I have done a review of Alclad Candy clear colors. You can watch it here ruclips.net/video/-MnMh9GAtNM/видео.html

Yes you should be fine putting the base over the acrylic primer
You should invest in a handheld paint mixer. There like $9 much better than shaking .
I have 2 paint mixers. The handheld Badger paint stirrer and an actual jar Shaker. I show them in my other videos
Would you be able to advise me on something, I bought Klear Kote gloss instead of Aqua Klear Kote - which one is better for Chrome?
Only Aqua Gloss should be used over chrome. And for the record this is according to Alclad themselves. Klear can be used on anything else
Any chance of a comparison between mrp metallic/ mission model metallic/ alclad II?
Yes I'm planning the MRP metallics comparison soon and then the Mission
Do you use thinner to air brush ?
No, it's pre thinned
Do they have like pearl white color??
Sadly they don't. Mr Color has a pearl white though and that's a lacquer
@@barbatosrex9473 alclad are lacker too right? Correct me if I’m wrong ty, and can u top a clear coat alclad on a vallejo air paint (acrylic )
@@riezen9653 yes you can. Just be sure it's fully cured and dry. Once fully dry you can coat it with just about anything
@@barbatosrex9473 thank you very much :) learning a lot from you sir!! I just hate it that I can’t airbrush inside the house haha, damn dust outside
