I know a young woman from England with whom I became friends and I got such a kick out of her accent. She was hot anyway but the accent just made it all the better. One day I told her I had a little crush on her and to my surprise she had one on me too. So that was pretty awesome. We're not together presently but oh well, it was a long time ago. Didn't last all that long. But anyway, I said her accent was one of the reasons and she said she hated it and tried to change it. I couldn't understand why. Oh well. So sad that some people don't realize what they have. I do kind of miss her, if I'm being honest.
Kate Schmid Sorry to say that I have. Don't get me wrong, I didn't drop out because I wanted to do videos, I dropped out because I wasn't happy at uni. Simple as that.
"I'm going on a space quest" ........................................................................................................................ I just......I just....can't even.
I hate to be that person to make a correction, but the voice actresses for Valanice and Sharpei are in fact different. I know it's crazy; they sound *exactly* the same. I later learned that Carol Bach y Rita (who played Valanice) actually played Stellar Santiago in this game (wat). Unless it's a weird mistake on the IMDB pages but I don't believe it is. As for the game: this is one of my favorite Space Quests. You're right, the puzzle design is pretty absurd. I have personal ties to the game but I am also just a bigger fan of Mandel's writing over Crowe and Murphy's; I personally think it's funnier, and I thought the Tango and Cash reference was particularly so. I still like SQ5 the best, but for nostalgia's and humor's sake, I go for this one. As a Space Quest game in the series, it definitely is an anomaly; just doesn't seem to fit the previous tones of the other games. Excellent and hilarious video as usual, my friend! :)
+PushingUpRoses I checked the IMDB page and I thought you might have been right, but the in-game credits actually do have Carol Bach y Rita as Sharpei AND Stellar. So it's actually an IMDB mistake. Also thank you! c:
+PushingUpRoses 'I don't think so?' Pfft, yeah, because every slightly professional site is sooo reliable. Stop being so trustworthy. Not saying I dislike IMDB, but everyone makes mistakes. Learn that before bullshitting.
+Renaldo 'F*cking' Moon And references are fine, but as Scarf said, it can't be all you have or your fanbase will be extremely minimal, unless you know of the majority of them, which isn't bad exactly, but it's not really fun for those who don't know, which is kinda selfish.
+Renaldo 'F*cking' Moon Wow, calm the fuck down. I didn't know the IMDB page was incorrect; I looked this up a long time ago and believed the credits to be correct since Carol was correctly credited as Stellar. I'm not "bullshitting" (the fuck does that even mean in this context?), I was simply incorrect. There's no need to be an asshole about it; Scarfulhu is my friend, he corrected me, and that's it. There's no need to get preachy about something as innocuous as this.
+Scarfulhu Yeah, I always questioned it too because they sound identical. But then I thought, "well, if they got Stellar right on the page, maybe they got Sharpei right as well." I remember my fans and I looked it up one day during a stream and we were super confused, but didn't have the game credits readily available. I am actually glad it's wrong, otherwise it's way too weird.
10:04 - this is actually a "Don't copy that floppy" move. Having stuff only available in the instruction manual part-way through the game means you'll probably stop pirates from playing it the whole way through. Or, you know, they'll copy the instruction manual, but... who does that?
Actually not. The solution was *not* in the manual. Sierra messed up and cut the extra box materials to save costs, but didn't realise it was required to finish the first act.
"If you don't work out that the android is like the T-1000 form Terminator 2, you might not connect it to the nitrogen. While it's cool I don't think it constitutes good puzzle design." I see what you did there....
You should do a review on the final quest for glory game i used to play that as a kid along with this game and haven't really seen any reviews on it either
0:22 ... Or maybe we'll find that guy from 2001: A Space Odyssey, that died when HAL threw into space. I mean, the fourth book in the series the movie was based on says his body is somewhere in the asteroid belt.
Daww. I have a big soft spot for SQ6, I know it's considered one of (if not) the worst of the series, but I have a huge nostalgia connection to it. It was one of the first games dad got on a CD for our new CD ROM drive at the time! WOAH. We were living in the future, but now! (Or then). Just like when I got SQ1VGA with our soundblaster card. The midi blew my prepubescent brain load... Anyway, RIP Gary Owens
Marty Dmf Me too!! It was the first my dad played when I was a kid and my sister and I loved sitting around the computer and watch him play. This game has such a special place in my heart, even if it’s not the best in the series.
I always enjoy your point and click videos. Would love to see you do Sam & Max: Hit the Road or Day of the Tentacle. DotT just got a remaster too so that one might be fun.
At 5:21, I'm surprised he didn't decide to show off the death that you receive if you fall into lava, perhaps that was a tad too graphic for even our Scarfulhu to handle? :)
+Lewis Wilkinson There were plenty more death scenes I could have shown, I just picked a handful. The lava one looks kinda goofy to be honest though. I guess I just find skeletons funny.
+Arthur Serra Lopes It's just a claim as opposed to a strike, but it won't be resolved. As far as I know the other company isn't earning money from the video, but pursuing it further would cause a strike, and while I'm sure that I could fight against that, I really don't want to. March ended up being one of my most successful months ever anyway!
+Scarfulhu I am very happy to hear that. Remember that you know you're being successful when you start to create some enemies. Things have never been easy on RUclips, but your fans are with you. The best of luck to you, continue with the excellent work, real quality show. :D
+Hugo Bedward That's what I would have thought, but copy protection mostly encompassed floppies. This game was CD-ROM so it wasn't really necessary. I'm pretty sure I heard it was just a timing issue for this one. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure it wasn't copy protection here.
The "secret attack" for the Street Fighter game is supposed to reference a stupid game kids often play with each other in school etc where they try to make you look at a certain spot you're indicating by forming an O with their fingers (as you can see your fighter character do). When you successfully trick someone into looking at your O-shaped fingers, you have the privilege of giving them a punch and they're not allowed to resist. I have no idea if the game has a name, and even I did I probably wouldn't know what's it's called in English. But it was very common when I was a kid, i.e. when this game was released.
Aww no mention ont fact that Elmo and fester are recurring character from the series ? To be fair, about the fruit statue thing working like that, it is repeated that the guard is a very very very veery mypic alien when you look at him. And the end of the game is definitively better or at least more itersting than the rest of the game. At least the idea of doing a 'fanstasic voyage' thing and cyberspace hadnt been done by the seres yet so it was niceto see a take on it.
This was fun, Scarfy! Can you do reviews on the previous Space Quest games? I'm quite curious of your thoughts of them other than 'they're better than the 6th one.'
The setup for this game feels just kinda weird. There have of course been games where Roger lost all his notoriety; his heroism fell out of favor over time by SQ2, he wound up displaced in time and space in SQ3, SQ4 was a time travel plot so his exploits kinda undid themselves. But at the end of SQ6, he’s a captain (albeit through weird means), with a loyal crew, a new love interest, and the entire surviving crew of the *Goliath* owe him their lives. Forget being court-martialed; he should be at an award ceremony for what he did in SQ5, and his crew would have backed him up. It’s such a weird break from the previous game.
I agree with you on a lot of this stuff. Space Quest VI was out of place, I don't count it to offical SQ lore. And I never ever re-played it in my life, played the others about 5 times.
Connor, man, I would fucking love it if you covered the Chzo Mythos games by Yahtzee Croshaw. Not sure if you've played them, but they're a free point and click series with an incredible story. Would highly recommend.
I remember trying to play Space Quest 3 way back when as a wee lad, with a very VERY limited English vocabulary. Fair to say, I did not get far :p I did enjoy the death animations tho'

+Keith Roughly speaking there should be 2 videos per month now.
Scarfulhu That's amazing! How do you make these videos so quickly?
Keith Currently doing this full time.
+Scarfulhu This probably isn't my place to say, and I love getting more frequent videos from you, but I do hope you haven't given up university!

I see what you did there....
Take notes comedy video game reviewers: pop culture references can only get you so far, including memes.
How's you?
"In space no one can here you XD"
I searched up Sarah Nyberg, thanks m8
I know right?
Ah this takes me back. Love the Space Quest games, great video dude! Keep it up :D
Spaaaaaaace! [There's your pop culture reference]
Peter Capaldi approves of your love of space...or maybe he doesn't, considering his expression.
I wonder if we will see further explorations into this series.
I can only hope ^^
Thank you for the Top notch content, as always.
SCARFY !!!! SO TALENTED AND SO YOUNG! keep it up, man!
Personally, I think if a game is over eagered to murder you, you should get frequent checkpoints.
I know what we could find in space...
Legs, Legs that could drive a man to murder...
Fun fact: "Kielbasa" is the Polish word for sausage. Not sure how does that fit with an alien lion-man, though...
elpizo1789 It also sounds like Mustafa, Simba's father in The Lion King.

This is the game that music in the Ratatoing video was from, thanks for the link btw
Are you kidding that intro was a work of art
I'm sure I would have loved that game as a kid, I should give it a try someday though. I actually never played a Space Quest game before.
Man. That pop culture reference in description, I've totally got that xD
oh and Kielbasa means sausage. so basicly you are working for sasuage.

13:48 I think there actually is a way to trigger a death on this part. I've seen it, but not sure what the requirements are.

Why don't we have whimsical space adventure games like these anymore!!! Games industry has lost its way!

Making a P'n'C Puzzle based on Pop Culture, is like making a Quiz Game based of only memes.
Sooner or later, no one will remember how to solve it.

In the prison cell you can see "Major Tom was here" on the wall, a reference to the character from the David Bowie song "Space Oddity".

10:00 Actually those puzzles are designed to be Copy Protection.
