  • Here's the 150 games that are essential for all those that never messed around with an Amiga system from Commodore and are curious to know which ones are really worth playing. This will also be a good starting point to build up your private physical collection of Amiga games or, why not, to experience on your own A500 mini that is just around the corner.

This video is great for a number a reasons.
    1. It's succinct.
    2. It shows all games at multiple points within each one, rather than just the first level.
    3. It's super crisp with excellent colour representation.
    4. Incredible choice of games.
    5. It would have taken a HUGE amount of work.
    6. It's the f@#king AMIGA! ❤
    Beautiful job!

As an American who grew up with Genesis and Snes etc. I was never really exposed to to the Amiga. But I always wondered what are some good games for it. I definitely agree, I'm only 40 minutes in and I have seen plenty of good things.

I had mates back in the day who had MegaDrive/Genesis and SNES machines while I had the Amiga, it was a case of trying out games on all the systems but for me the Amiga was the true love when it came to gaming. Although the MegaDrive and the SNES were phenomenal machines in their own right.
So although I was kind of an Amiga purist I can also fully appreciate the Consoles as you've appreciated the Amiga in your comment. We are both as were many others of our time period kindred spirits regardless ✊👍

This has to be the best compilation of Amiga games I've seen by now. I can tell that making this video must have taken an extended period of time, because having good quality games from the Amiga era listed with adequate amounts of gameplay from each game combined must have been very time consuming. The end result then making this the best video compilation of the Amiga magic I have ever seen to this day.

A surprising number of awesome looking games that I haven't seen before! Refreshing to see a list like this that isn't just a regurgitation of everyone else's "Top X Amiga Games" list - I can tell these were actually a mixture of games you know and love; good, bad and otherwise. Thank you for giving me at least a dozen new titles to try (and maybe 20 new tracks to add to my Amiga music playlist) :)

Those pinball games, pinball dreams (my fave), pinball fantasies, and pinball illusions were unique and great fun to play on the Amiga. The artwork and graphics of those games stand out for me, of so many games that came out on that machine these for me stood out because of the level of detail put into the design of these. Iconic games.

One fun fact is that in most of the videos you find on RUclips showcasing the Amiga version of Lemmings, there's an error on disk 2, hence the scratchy instruments in the music of the second level on the lowest difficulty. The very same scratchy noise can also be heard on other stages of Lemmings using the "corrupted" copy of disk 2.

Ambermoon the sequel to Amberstar is another superb game that deserves being mentioned [being in my personal top 10 of all Amiga games, definitely]. It's a fantastic isometric rpg plus dungeon-crawler with a revolutionary 3D engine [for that time]. Superb artstyle and iconic soundtrack. Truly my personal RPG big bang experience. Amiga was the first computer to really bring forward the use of a mouse on a computer.
One thing I'm missing in all these Amiga games review is to know if it was a mouse game or joystick game.
Amiga was the pioneer of so many great mouse games: Ports of Call, Sim City, Cannon Fodder, Defender of the Crown, Lemmings, Secret of Monkey Island, Lost Patrol, Warlords, etc.
And, those were the games I loved the most.

Both of Earl Weaver Baseball (and commish/manager expansion) and WGH 1 and 2 and Hockey League simulator were indeed awesome. Truth is though, both of these are geared towards North American audiences and therefore don’t have the exposure to our European cousins. That said, I so agree on these two titles, they were incredible and are in the top ten most played Amiga games for me, along with every single Cinemaware release (except for Sinbad, just couldn’t get into that one lol)

The standout for me on the Amiga is the blitter and that buttery smooth scrolling - coming from the previous 8-bit machines this was a big thing BITD. I remember a few of the titles, Gods, Alien Breed, R-Type, Turrican etc. The memories I cherish though are the productivity applications, DPaint, Impulse's Imagine, Real3d, Sculpt and for music Noise Tracker and Pro Tracker.
Like others I know, the Amiga lead to a career in 3D modeling and animation e.g. working in Newtek's Lightwave.

Amazing video. I'm kind of surprised how there are so many ive not heard of before. :O I love how you didn't frontload it with all the big hitters so there are still obvious titles near the end, just makes it clear how many great games there were.

  • @AmbersKnight

Really good list. We could all very easily come up with our lists I'm sure and have differences but this one really does show off the Amiga and the wide assortement of games it can do. But I do want to say thank you for putting Woody's World on the list. I think it and Harlequin (which sadly didn't make your list) are both very under-rated platformers on the Mig.

There was a rather good Amiga game that I used to play in my youth. One of the last games that I bought for Amiga, and thanks to this video, I now know the name: Woody's World. Cheers! To be brutally honest, I think by far most of the Amiga games that I've ever played weren't good even back then. But there are certainly some gems too. I remember that when we finally got our first PC, it was hard to find any decent games for it so Amiga held its ground for a year or two as the main gaming device.
Did I see Space Crusade on this video? I don't think I did. Definitely one of the best Amiga games that I've played.

I begged him to get an Amiga or at least the 128 but he wouldn't budge. He knew I was only interested in the games. I guess my families PC revolution started and ended with the C64.
