Hey guys, it's Charlotte here, and today I want to talk about something that can be a real headache: family wedding drama!
We all know that weddings are supposed to be a joyous occasion, but sometimes family members can really cause some drama. Maybe your mom doesn't like your fiancé's mom, or your dad and your uncle have had a falling out. Whatever the reason, family drama can really put a damper on what should be a happy day.
But don't worry, there are things you can do to prevent or mitigate family drama at your wedding. First, try to address any issues before the big day. If you know there's tension between certain family members, try to talk to them and see if there's a way to resolve it. Maybe they can agree to put their differences aside for the wedding day.
If that doesn't work, consider seating arrangements that keep family members who don't get along far apart. You can also enlist the help of a trusted family member or friend to keep an eye out for any potential conflicts and diffuse them before they escalate.
And finally, remember that this day is about you and your partner, not your family drama. So try to focus on the love and happiness you're sharing with your partner, and let the drama fade into the background.
I hope these tips were helpful, and remember, don't let family drama ruin your special day!

Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I make a joke or two. I love poking fun at social media, weddings, entitled people, tiktok and OF COURSE petty people. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

About the second story… I have a feeling that it was an Eastern Asian family. My reasoning for this, is because in their culture they take great pride in their sons. The family of the son pays for the wedding and those weddings are extremely expensive and lavish. So yes, the daughter has every right to sue, and that is the reason the great aunt set up that trust.

Hearing that last story made me want to spill a very dark family secret that I’ve never spoken about to anyone outside of my family. My aunt married a man who had a fraternal twin brother. They were married for 8 years and had a child together. Their marriage ended because she caught him cheating on her with a stripper. Unfortunately she didn’t have a job or any money saved so while she filed for divorce she went to stay with her brother-in-law, and I’m sure you can see where this is going lol. Fast forward a year and she is married to twin #2. They went on to have a child together but the marriage didn’t last because the apple never falls far from the tree. So now she is twice divorced with 2 kids that are brother and sister and also cousins. 2 years ago she calls my dad (her brother) hysterical because the cops had just left her house looking for twin #1. It turns out that he killed 5 people (including his current wife) and was on the run. They finally found him and he confessed to the 5 but also claims to have killed 16 others, although they haven’t been able to substantiate those claims. I know it probably sounds too crazy to be true but you will just have to take my word on it. I am kinda counting on the chance that no one will actually read this since this video is a couple of weeks old. Otherwise I would have never been comfortable to share our family shame.

Charlotte, the 2nd story shouldn't have to split it. She shouldn't have to share it at all. That money was for a specific purpose. The aunt set it up to counter the mysogny in their culture and the family not only ignored her wishes, but stole the money to perpetuate the mysogny of valuing men over women. Exactly $0 should have gone to his wedding from that account

Exactly! I was so confused when she said that lol. Why would she split it?
But I'm sure reading all these stories it's kind of hard to keep up with all the details , it seemed like a lot of details that were said she forgot about. So I'm assuming she didn't realize that the whole reason for it is because the men are favored in their culture. They are already getting everything paid for, they don't need any extra help like the women do.

I suspect the family in question are Indian. Indian weddings are huge affairs and the male child/children are seen as benefactors and expected to take care of the parents along with the new wife. The weddings can last days and no expense is spared as the parents literally see it as investing in their future.
I don't think a 2nd thought was given to the daughter and the parents saw that money as their own.

Omg the second one got me IMMEDIATELY invested because I am thinking about doing the same myself!
My grandparents would give my sisters and I money to go towards college when we became adults. Long story short, I didn't take the "standard" route and immediately sign up for college when I graduated (I am the oldest). Instead I escaped the clutches of my awful parents and did some traveling, ran amuck for a while, and just did my own thing.
My sisters went to college, and my parents paid for things like phone bills, car insurance, buying them cars, allowing my sisters to live with them rent free after they turned 18 (which was not an option available to me). I never asked for anything, because I wanted to prove to them that I could do it on my own.
Fast forward a few years, and I wanted to know what my college funds looked like so I could look into higher education. When I asked my dad how much money was in my account, he got real cagey about it and insisted that I just tell him what I wanted to take and where, and he would let me know if I was able to afford it. That didn't make much sense to me, but I knew hey had some kind of hold on my money, to where I couldn't access it myself without their signature until I was 14 or 25, which was weird, but I dropped the issue because I wasn't able to get a direct answer.
Years later, im living across the country, homeless, about to have my first born child. I was desperately looking for a car, a place to live, etc. I asked my dad about the money, and he "admitted" to me that "the IRS seized the money due to back taxes", and that there was no money anymore. This was a few years after my mom bought a restaurant. No apology, no explanation, no offers to pay it back to me in any way.
Honestly I know I probably won't ever see that money but I want the truth about it. I was obviously unable to drive to the bank, open an account, and deposit it into the account as a five year old, so I would hand the check in my name to my parents after I opened the card it came in. I was told explicitly many times that it was my money, put in an account with my name on it, under my parents control. I don't know where you got the idea that somehow it wasn't mine. It couldn't have been made more clear. Even when my dad had no more excuses and I asked directly where it went, he said my money was gone.
I know I may sound very defensive in this, and to be honest it's a very triggering subject as it's a deep betrayal wound, so it does stir up intense emotions within me. And to come in and say that it wasn't mine..like, no one even in my family has ever disputed the fact that it was mine, just like my sisters' college money was theirs, and they were able to access and use theirs. So to come into a situation as an outsider and argue that it wasn't mine is insane. They gave my parents money for them and their needs, and each of the grandkids money for our future needs. Please tell me where the idea that I wasn't entitled to it came from.

Which also means that if those accounts had enough money for OP to graduate from an American university without debt (and I’m going to guess paying International student tuition based on how she said all her friends are Americans) those accounts had to be around at least 200k. So with using those 2 accounts, they spent almost HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!!!! On a wedding that wasn’t for either of them. I have a somewhat similar story to #2. I have been working since I was 14 and once I started working, my parents made me pay for most of everything that I personally needed. They covered groceries and that kind of stuff but most everything else was my responsibility. Despite this, I knew I wanted to move out the first second i could so I saved a lot and by the time I turned 18, I had about 10K. This was 20 years ago, so it was a decent nest egg for an 18 year old. My parents also said they were giving me 5K as a graduation present. So, I end up moving out on my 18th birthday and I move into a new place with a friend's mom. A few days later, I end up going to withdraw money and I can't. I go to the bank and find my account close to completely drained. I can't remember the exact amount but my acct had under $500 left in it. My parents still had access to my bank account so they just went in and took it without telling me. My parents made 6 figures most of my upbringing and my mom recently had a lesser paying job but they weren't poor by any means. But, they were bad with money and sometimes didnt have enough for unexpected events. When I confronted them, they told me they needed it and that they would pay me back plus the 5K they promised me. That never happened and I don't talk to either of them anymore.

I was fine buying it myself but she insisted. To keep my fiance happy I agreed. This was not my first marriage but it was for him. She insisted on going with me to pick out a dress. She was very vocal that it should be a simpler dress as it was a home wedding. We were looking at several stores and I was also shopping ( I thought) for a dress to leave the reception in. I found a pretty tea length linen cream color dress that I was going to get for the reception. She INSISTED that was going to be my wedding dress. I told her that was just too plain for what I had in mind for my actual wedding dress. This woman goes off saying that I was not getting married in white because it was not proper and it would be embarrassing if I wore a floor length gown. I was hurt but caved because my husband just wanted to keep the peace but I resented it every day. Fast forward 25 years. My husband's younger brother gets married with monetary help from his parents. They have a more lavish lakeside wedding with a lot more guests. My mother in law (of course) offered to help buy the dress and took her son's fiance shopping. They come back (no joke) with a WHITE wedding GOWN (her THIRD marriage) with full long train and long veil to get married on a fishing PIER! I don't think I've ever felt so hurt or demeaned by his family. That's just one of MANY personal jabs I've endured by them though. The only time I wore white to a wedding was when it was a white dress but covered in blue and read flowers and the bride was happy with it. I asked her and showed her the dress to check she was okay with it and since it was covered in blue and red flowers she was totally fine with.

The story of parents stealing the money and blaming the daughter for “embarrassing the family” is very hard to hear. In extreme cases, this is the same mentality that allows predators to get away because the family doesn’t want to be embarrassed. As a person who comes from a Latino and Asian community, where reputation and males have importance , this happens way to often. Ladies, you are not embarrassing your culture or family. They are embarrassing themselves for not protecting and valuing each member equally. If need be, separate from them and practice your culture with chosen family.

The best way to get married is to do it in secret, well, not even in secret...just don't invite anyone. I got married for the third time just after lockdown...none of the hotels were re-opened as the homeless had been put in them, besides we were only allowed 6 at the wedding and you had to count the registrar and the staff. So, long story short, our cab driver was our photographer and witness...another witness was a journalist we knew...job done!!...no guests, no drama. Neither did we have a party over the last two years as a late celebration. so, so easy! x🤣

My mother was raised by her grandmother so my family had the, "Boys are more valuable," directive due to a generational thing. My brother got to go to scouts, karate, footy club and many more activities that cost the dosh. He never finished anything and my sister and I were never allowed to do any paid activities because, "We just can't afford it at the moment." He was so spoiled it actually ruined his adult life. He got the most expensive x-mas presents and parties for his birthday every year. I have NEVER had a birthday party to this day and I was so excited to receive a dump bike for x-mas one year. A dump bike is when your parents go the dump and use a few different bikes to create a Frankenstein set of wheels. I never envy and have never been jealous of anything or anyone in my life. I am so very appreciative of any good that comes my way as I never expect anything. I would never sue for the money because as my son says, "You are such a pushover and you let everyone walk over you unless I'm involved." I am just too relaxed about things and honestly just don't let things get under my skin. I think that is partly a result of my upbringing, partly DNA and partly that I am an Aussie, who knows. However, I thoroughly endorse that young girl for suing her wanker parents. Dick move to spend their own daughters inheritance on a wedding when; A. It's not their money to spend. B. A wedding is a one day event and an education lasts for a lifetime. C. It just warms my heart to hear about a fellow female standing up for what is rightfully hers. If I had been ripped off a two or three-hundred grand, I would not be such a doormat. I hope she is successful.

It shouldn't take you hundreds of thousands of $$ to stand up for yourself. Please take better care of you, friend, it sounds like you had a really heartbreaking childhood, speaking from one "non-favored" child to another.
My situation was no where even remotely close to how severe yours was, but it messed me up in ways I didn't even see until I hit my 30's and finally started to stand up for myself and examine WHY I was so desperate to be the chillest person in every group... The amount of people who took advantage of me, and I just waved it off as "being polite" or "being friendly" or "being nice" to others when I let it happen.. Or even just taking pride in being "the opposite of a karen". It was all toxic - it means you bend over too far and are in danger of getting f*cked my friend!
You deserve better. I can literally hear the self-beating in your words, you were worth more back then and you are worth more than this now. #BeKind to yourself! I mean, just one thing i can immediately see to be proud of - you clearly raised a kind son who understood the assignment to take care of people he loves and to have compassion, by being a kind and compassionate person.
You should apply that more to yourself, I think, if you're speaking so harshly about yourself so casually. :)

The old lady trying to pay her nieces and grand-nieces way through college resonates. Not because of the drama the one Charlotte talked about had, but because some people are just genuinly good. And the cause is better than any. My 4x great-aunt struck rich in USA in the 19th century as a young woman, being known for acting fierceful and self-dependent, and understanding the settings she was in instantly. She partly took pay in stock at Macy's department store starting as a cashier, learned how to keep the books in check through the years (got a helliva CV), and cashed out after 13 years, rich as a mf.
Her heritance was very specific about the equation between what's ment for the farm she grew up on, when it's ment to be spent, and the majority to be spread thin over generations. Covering costs of being a student for so so many young women to this day. Well, sorta, the well is dry now 😅 She started spreading the joy when she sat foot on shore here, to be thruthful. It was always about building a future, and it still is.
When she came back to the auld quarry of a country we're from in 1888, she spat money into the important things right away: A crazy lump of money to be used on her room at the farm (equal to $815k now), as well as a promise of her being taken care of when she got old. Her father then used that money on the best plow/sower/horse/new giant barn, and refurbished the entire building mass on the farm. She spent big bucks on a retirement home she ran until she got to old, she got one of the first jobs in the goverment aviable for women (accounting, you knew that), she refused to marry because the laws said a husband has the rights to his wifes wealth. She only had a "companionship", not partner, in her adult life. 20 years before anyone cared about women's rights, she was breaking barriers.

I was in Middle School making a decent wage doing babysitting for my cousin and some family friends (I was making around 100$ per week and as a middle schooler, I felt rich lol). Well one day I wanted to take some money to school and get a giant cookie from the school store, my mom prior to this knew about my babysitting and knew how much I was making and I had even been gifted a Louis Vuitton wallet from my aunt as a gift for working so hard (she was a huge collector back then and still has some of her old items). Well this day my mom had a huge fit and told me that I wasnt allowed to take the wallet to school or use my own money, I told her I was doing it anyway cause it was MY MONEY. Well she ended up calling the school and forced them to take the wallet from me and I never saw that money or that wallet ever again. She stole other items and money from me and as much as I would LOVE to sue her ass and get my stuff back, its been 1) too much time and 2) I dont want to waste my time on her any longer than I already have.

The last story. It was a 2 year highschool relationship that HE ended vs a 4 year adult relationship. Twin 1 is absolutely overreacting if he can't learn to suck it up and figure out a way to move on for a few major events like this. I get that he was hoping the relationship wouldn't work and would go away, but it's not. He will either have to see her or go No Contact with his brother and any kids they may have. Over, I remind you again, a high school relationship he ended four years ago. At this point it feels more petty than hurt. He might have a leg to stand on if there had been "wait for me" promises made, but he just said "Bye. I don't wanna do long distance." and expected her to disappear forever. Instead he came home and discovered she wasn't going to stay a nostalgic high school memory for him. She would stay in his life, but inaccessible to him romantically. Like, yeah that hurts. But move on it's been years.

As someone whose sibling dated multiple of my exes, I understand why the last guy was upset. Even if you're totally over the ex and have no feelings toward them, having your sibling not communicate with you about their intentions and make sure you're okay with it is a betrayal. I have never trusted that sibling again and most likely never will. Thankfully my sibling never married any of my exes. Having that kind of news sprung on you and then learning you're going to be forced into being related to them must be excruciating.

I have a married 13 years. When we got married, my husband had a conversation with his mother about the way she had treated him for many years (favoritism for his siblings, treating him like a servant, making him do all the chores, taking money from him that he was making, and she was supposed to be saving for him as he was working to get a new car, but using it for his brother) he told her he wanted an apology for the things she had done to him. She said and I quote “I did the best I could, you’re not gonna get an apology. I raised you to be strong” my husband looked at me a week later, asked me to marry him at the courthouse, and within a week we had eloped and have been happily married ever since.
Edit: he asked other family what they thought about us getting married from his fam. All of them told him that we should wait a couple of years so none of them were invited. When we eloped, only my mother was standing in the courthouse with us.

I'm one half of an identical twin pair myself and for me, it is not weird if my sister would date my ex-boyfriend. Most of my exes are amazing people, we simply didn't work out as a couple. Even though my sister and I are identical, if someone gets to know us better they realise that we are very different. Very different in personalities and very different in styles as well. Once people get to know us we become easily distinguishable both outwardly and inwardly. The major issue would be communication. There is always a period of secrecy to see if the relationship is going anywhere, that is understandable if she doesn't disclose it right away. However if she decides to start bringing my ex around for family functions I would expect her to give me a reasonable amount of time prior so I can wrap my head around the situation before I have to come face-to-face with them as a couple. It is important that she understands that this may be difficult at first for me, so she would need to be pacient with me. On the other hand, as her (twin) sister, it would be important from my end to understand that she chose this person as her other half and I HAVE to come to terms with that. Remember: at some point I dated this person as well because I saw something amazing in him as well. :)
