Makes sense, Reeve notoriously despised what Lester did to Superman II (Lester had to basically bribe him just to come back for III). He would hate another director repeating the same damn mistake. Donner Cut > Lester Cut And Snyder Cut > Whedumb Cut
I'd really like to hear more of this I didn't know there was that much of a divide. I would love to see an animated version of what the Donner Superman 2 was supposed to actually be like.Because the Donner cut isn't the full version and is kind of weird
@@NStuffGuitars The Donner Cut IMO is close enough. It's what I would call an 80% finished masterpiece. Whereas the Lester Cut is a 100% finished "That was alright I guess" film IMO. Never cared for Lester's scenes personally. They're so campy. And not campy due to age like the Donner scenes, the Lester stuff was campy in 1980.

As a kid I remember watching the opening and thinking, "They're trying to make a Benny Hill Show!?!?!?" Superman 4 had a great theme, suggested by Christopher Reeves, of ending Nuclear Weapons etc. BUT the budget for Superman 4 was split by Warner Brothers with He-Man...another good film in theory but the budget wrecked it.
