@@PeterParker-ff7ub do your homework :) apart from his super powers, which is the whole plot, he didn't apply any acceleration while falling so the increasing speed should be almost the same, even if he'd made himself to establish vertical position for best airflow, how on earth is he hit the ground earlier? then he just streched his arms and catches her, but does it make any difference from her hitting the ground in perspective of her survival? :)

His powers also include the ability to fall faster than gravity and the ability to negate the force of impact of other objects.

Lol 4real he would if fell at the same speed as the woman falling meaning since she was thrown over the bridge before he jumped down he would of never had caught her in time as she would of hit the surface before him.

He pushed himself of the dam giving him a greater initial speed, 2 the fall was sufficiently high that Chloe reaches terminal velocity while Clark continues to accelerate and 3 the drag force on a horizontal Chloe was more than the vertical Clark further increase the different in terminal velocity. Of course this is a superhero show so the man plays by different rules.
@@romonemorrison1150 you can’t fall faster than gravity though as gravity is what’s pulling you down in the first place that means there’s another force that’s greater than gravity at that point which is not possible and if high enough terminal velocity kicks in and all objects regardless of weight will fall at the same speed with wind resistance being a factor for certain objects like a plastic bag or a piece of paper

Damm Tom Welling was so young in 2nd season but this is my favourite TV series till now and it really got beautiful memories specially from season 1-4 a.k.a when they was in high school 🏫...and no one can match the level of Smallville ❤️

I watched Smallville went it first aired and Vampire Diaries after it, but I never noticed that that actor was in both until watching this video. He was instantly recognizable as Stefan.

This TV show did not make Clark Kent superman's secret identity (which in the comics it is). Rather it made Clark Kent's secret identity Superman (just like Bruce Wayne's secret identity is Batman).
What I loved about this show was the fact that the consistency in how Kent learns to use his powers over time was parallel to his age and experiences through out the show😭. This was season 2 so him just falling like that instead of landing is so funny but so true to Clark Kent for his age where he is non experienced and just doing what he can manage to save people. Even the fall was so ungraceful but who cares? As long as he saved someone. (Now as to why he fell faster or why he took her back to the same place HER ASSAILANT WAS is beyond me. I can't use non experience to justify that. That was just a Flash from the show move💀)
Clark has greater initial speed due to pushing off the railing as he jumps and Chloe reaching terminal velocity over that distance is the only thing that would make scientific sense. Considering Clarke would have a far greater weight and therefore higher terminal velocity. However this is a world where a man can fly without propulsion so acceleration due to gravity is not really a law that he has to follow.
Clark can't fly yet, but he already has some ability to control his momentum independently.

I never really understood why Clark was afraid of heights since he seems to always fall in Smallville (whether literally or for a girl) and even when he ingested a powdered kryptonite he didn’t break his neck when he passed out and fell

that is called a cop-out so they did not have to show him flying. There is no way that Clark is afraid of heights knowing he cannot be hurt when falling. It was a lame excuse back then, it is still a lame excuse.

I suspect that being rugby-tackled by someone who is (a) invulnerable, and (b) has just overtaken several bullets to get there, is probably worse than just taking your luck with the bullets.

Sometimes I imagine that superman has one of those depovering collars or other means to "deactivate" the superpowers to do things like having sex with Lois in the comics or other small thing that would be so hard to do with super strength or invulnerability.

I loved this series. This actor played Clark perf and when he finally flew, one of the best scenes in television!
Clark may be invulnerable but how do you explain his clothing? Also, the gas tank on a car is lower than where the bullet struck and bullets usually don't cause cars to explode.
The invulnerability is physic based. Also why he can catch people after falling without injuring them. Same with flight+strength. Superman can also hear the other side if the earth quicker then sound waves travel. It's basically how he thinks his powers work so they do.
Maybe his clothing are made in super man land. lol.

Why does Clark even wear a helmet?
If he slams into a building it is more likely for the building to collapse than him being injured.

Pretty obvious why, he still needs to obey the rules and he was raised to do the right thing, helmets arent just for safety its also the law. Plus he needs to keep up appearances, how do you explain to people of not getting injured when eg you have an accident and your head goes through a wall and you have no injuries from it?

What explosion are you referring to? Also Clark is unreasonably fast in this show. Moving this fast would cause sonic booms that would cause widespread damages and possibly hurt people, especially people with heart issues.

I love how Clark, serial superspeed user and secret identity haver, superspeeds to the ground to catch the falling girl, then takes the time to tenderly lay her down on the ground and cover her with his body so the giant boulder breaks over his back, rather than just moving out of the way. Even I could have dodged that without superspeed.

Ya, him catching her would have been no different than if she landed on two stationary metal bars.
He would have had to match her speed, catch her and then slow down the descent before coming to a stop for it to be anywhere near a soft landing in his arms. Ohwell, its just a comic book in film form.
Just realize that if I keep applying these strict levels of observation to the show, it stops being fun since there's way too much stuff that wouldn't theoretically happen the way they show it.

Superman has the ability where he creates a force field around him which can stop things he carries from breaking, or something like that.
The only thing I can figure is, that Clark moves so fast, that he's able to quickly cushion her fall when he catches her. Not sure if it could work that way, but if it could, that would be what he's doing.

That first one of Going to the bottom to catch her is the funniest, silliest thing because instead of her whole body hitting a pile of leaves, she now smacks two bits of her spine into the “Man of Steel”
Knocking into someone while running faster than a bullet would also probably splatter them, but I do love the silliness of it all.
She would not be alive, the amount of force he applied to stop her fall is still to strong. She would be dead unless she was slowing down to or in a position differnt from that one applying equal distribution through out her body so energy can be exerted in a safe way(so her insides wont squash down to a soup to.
