      The fact your screen goes so incredibly blurry when a bullet goes with in 20m of you is just terrible. Maybe a change to a more "Tunnel Vision" style, Where your screen goes dark around the edges your visual point decreases the more suppression you are under. But the blur is just the most arcade thing ever.

    My least favorite part about the update is the influx of new players who can't seem to press M to check their maps for friendlies. Yesterday I got shot at more by friendlies than enemies....

      They should just add colored armbands to the uniforms like the Ukrainian and Russian armies use, it would be much more realistic than name tags and avoid friendly fire. I've never been a fan of the name tags.

    as a 240 gunner in the army, youd be surpised how the scope looks when youre shooting. it doesnt quite flail around like that but keeping good sight picture isnt exactly easy sometimes.

    As a former Minimi gunner in the Aus army (M249 SAW), the sway while prone complaint is totally justified. The weapon does not sway like that. When bipoded and tucked into the shoulder, it’s an extremely stable weapon platform.

    People need to understand squad isn’t a 1v1 skill gap game. I’m glad everyone is more difficult to deal with now because it forces teamwork. I was so sick of the run and gun no coms trend.

      cqb is dead, I enjoyed the long range fights but 3 seconds to scope in and hip fire being useless, cqb got way worse. at the end of the day poisoning is always wins so doesn't impact my style as much

      how about when simply moving your weapon left or right? it's incredible how easily the reticle gets lost when ADS, full stamina and simply aiming left or right. it's like you're holding the weapon 10 inches from your face, no proper eye relief at all.

      I personally hate the over use of blur. Choose where you want blur. Don't just splash it all over the screen when a single bullet flies 20 feet in front of you. It's like there Vaseline all over the screen I like the idea of nerfing combat to slow down the pacing.
      But holy shit they went overkill on yhe nerfing of gameplay mechanics

      @@nicobenji0248 I agree. The increase of your aim flinching when shot at and a bit of blur makes sense but basically developing cataracts and having a seizure is a bit much.
      Also the MG thing with recoil too and scopes in general I've never shot a gun but I've heard a couple avid gun users saying it's so intense it's unrealistic.
      I'm a fan of the changes made but considering the reviews and the handful of games I've played shows that OWI is on the right track but just need to notch it down a bit, say 25-50%. I think that would be a good medium that suits everyone.

      *Reguardless of what MOI said, playing HAT is damn near impossible it's literally the only Kit I play and I manage my stamina to a T, if even one enemy INF out of the 50 you're up against sees you, count your attempt to disable that vehicle over, because now they don't even have to hit you to fk you.*

    This was my favorite game, the update which gave all of us Parkinson's killed it for me. If it takes 20 seconds to steady my rifle, and even once it's steady it still has aim cone, then the game no longer is playable. People who still play it never could aim to begin with.

    MG shake is really insane. Shooting the MG5 of the German army prone with bipods deployed has literally no recoil at all. It should be there to balance it around a game but the way it is, is pretty insane.

    As someone who has fired m240s and m249s from a prone position when i was in the army, you cannot aim down the sight while firing and expect to know exactly what you're hitting. Thats partly why you train with an assistant gunner who helps you adjust fire. I do agree that the weapon sway while using the bipod is a little excessive and could be adjusted

      When you are a SAW gunner you are your own gunner, and your own assisted gunner. your on your own. Far as shooting down the sights yes you can shoot and see, difference is. you adjust as needed. especially with a Acog or somthing, you can see where your rounds are landing much easier. you adjust off of your bust. Any gunner knows thoes optics never stay 100% zeroed.

      It seems like the new game mechanic encourages MGs to have a spotter or request verbal feedback from squad members as to how their rounds are hitting at range. Makes sense to me as a game mechanic.

    As a Former Minimi gunner in the French army, the sway is exagarated. It "kind" of blur you vision with the vibrations of full autoing, but you're not that innacurate. The weapon is really steady in real life.

    11:30 Increasing vehicle ticket loss would also discourage the “shoot the engine but don’t destroy it so the enemy team can’t recover it” thing

      That's mostly for Logis. If you have armor near you it was always more beneficial to destroy it for the tickets.

      that's more of a "how vehicle damage works" type of thing, it's a waste to shoot 5+ rockets until you destroy a tank unless you somehow hit the ammo rack which is almost impossible with light anti-tank kits or even heavy AT, the only times I have destroyed the ammo of a vehicle it was with the TOW on the Bradley or the placeable one, it's alwasy easier to destroy the engine or the tracks in 1 hit making the vehicle inmobilized and then wait for the crew to get out to repair, after that you probably still have 1 more rocket to hit another vehicle

      @@Gabiiwis I’m referring to the way people leave logis and light vics disabled but not destroyed so it’s impossible to do logistics. Increasing the ticket value of vehicles would incentivize people to destroy abandoned logis while still leaving that as a valid strategy, it would encourage people to urgently recover logis, it would encourage armor to play alongside logis, and it would also discourage stupid plays with logis by bad SLs. Also, you can absolutely destroy most armor with a HAT kit and a rifleman by your side, especially Russian armor, I’d suggest practicing in Jensens and studying the armor diagrams because a good HAT player can change the course of a game.
      OWI also needs to ad a “total tickets claimed” to the scoreboard, I’m sick of getting yelled at as an AT player for only having a few kills when I’ve destroyed most of the enemy armor.

      @@thefrogstronaut I have seen logis take more than 2 LAT hits to be destroyed and using more than 1 rocket in an enemy vehicles most of the time is not worth it, using a HAT rocket on a logi is def not worth it, mostly because you either have no way of resupplying or there might be more vehicles nearby that should be dealt with first, most people value AT ammo above all else and that's why they prefer to disable logis and transports instead of destroying them

    i no longer have fun playing squad, very upset. i dont know how people enjoy not being able to play the game because someone is shooting at them, weapon sway and scope sway feel terrible. i am not having fun anymore

      Playing all of the play tests helped me a lot. I already feel like I have refined my new playstyle. Just retaining your stamina makes a huge difference in firefights.

      @@brushnit9212 you’re right it is too early. I’m just basing the “vocal minority” take based off of my experiences in the game and in the playtests. The game is still very popular, servers are getting full, and despite what some dramatic reviews say it’s not a dead game.
      Time will tell if it all the “revert ICO” opinions really make up the majority. However, the vast majority of people I’ve talked to in game seem to agree with the take “ICO is great but will be even better with some tweaks”.

    The infantry combat overhaul actually made me want to get into Squad. I have fond memories of Project Reality back in the day and it seems like this update is bringing Squad towards a more methodical pace.
    It looks like the game still needs some tweaks, but the game is more my speed now.

      @@brin3836 I used to watch a lot of PR videos. Gameplay was way different than this update but pacing of combat encounters was unmatched.
      You actually had time to set up defenses and ambush vehicles in that game. Squad felt extremely ADHD was always something going on. You drive for 5 min with your squad just to be killed by a lone wandering dude sprintingbthe map with an rpg lol.
      But in PR you would be on a hill looking at a town ahead watching vehicles roll into the town. Then you would prep ambushes with atgm.
      Haven't tried this update yet but it still doesn't really give me PR vibes. That game was unique with it's pacing. You had momments of peace, build up before a fight, and tyen the hith intensity of the fights themselves. Something Squad has been missing.

    experienced players are not saying the can't get kills now or that they can't hit their targets. They are saying the clunky shooting, horrible sway, and annoying parallax in scopes makes the game less fun. Good players will still be good, where as bad players will be worse and new players are going to have a harder time getting good. The only people that played the playtest were the people that liked it, I played a handful of the tests and hated every second. I wrote a book in the OWI feedback form and they ignored everything.

    Project Reality player here. I love the new addition to gunplay and it really gives you a sense of rush, plus, a come-back-to-root moment because this mechanism really set the Infantry gunplay aside from rambo to rifleman.

      8:48 shows a different weapon and it shows how much more stable it is compared to the 2:33 weapon/example. The first one is prone too.

    I played for a few hours last night and had a ton of fun. I find that the update created a more unique experience than any other shooter like it. Even though I struggled with some of the new scopes, I don't think my average k/d changed at all.

      my gameplay got punished horrific. I do flank squads a lot and im really good at it (was at it), sometimes vhanging the outcome of a battle.
      This is almost not possible anymore. Before it was Surprise > Squad size. Now, only squad size and camping seams to matter.

      @@ismaelassassin Squad isn't trying to replicate PR, it is a successor to PR. PR used random bullet deviation (aka "spread) and now squad has found this much better system to work with

    I have not reviewed this on Steam. That said, I have 2,200+ hours in Squad and I can confirm ICO is awful. I can't even express how bad it is. Vision is blurry half the time in infantry engagements as suppression is so overpowered. Show me any combat footage where getting shot at with a rifle blurs your vision...? Optics feel like shooting your shooting through a toilet paper tube, and forget peripheral vision - it no longer exists. And don't even get me started on movement speed for infantry. This update is only going to promote more bush-wookies (camping), longer rounds (they were already averaging an hour), and vehicle domination. I know from experience that getting shot at only heightens your senses, and 'encourages' you to move faster. It's called adrenaline, and in combat there is no shortage of supply. So, if you like being half-blind while running in quicksand all while being shot at by campers you will love this game!!

    My favorite game went to garbage, sniper sim mode from day to night.
    AT is now literally unplayable due to suppression and stamina drain
    This is a way to bring more players and money not balancing the game.
    I would never bought this game if it was like this before

    People being upset with core gameplay changes years after the game is released is not "review bombing." Go look at War Thunder if you want to see review bombing.
    As a side note, most of the reviews I'm seeing are from people with thousands of hours. Definitely a blatant lie to call it review bombing.

    So people who have been playing this game 1k plus hours and disagreeing with a major game mechanic change after 3 years of the game being in “full” release is review bombing?
    But silence on the reviews from people recommending the game with 0 hours played since ICO dropped. The ICO is shit it’s like your a child soldier with zero training and have a seizure every-time you shoot or get shot at.

    I think the biggest gripe is, as frequently discussed, the baseline for weapon handling. Everything on top looks and feels very good, but with the ridiculously low amount of control your character has over his basic motor functions, it all crumbles down from there. It feels more like you are fighting the game than you are fighting the opponent. I'm speaking before factoring in suppression, stamina debuffs, etc.
    Overall, I had fun with the new update and I prefer it over the old gameplay. It's a winning recipe. However OWI seems to have misdosed some ingredients and they need to adjust these.

    There are some things that could be improved. For example, at full stamina and stability, above 75% stamina it should take about half as long from ADS to line up a shot...scope or irons. That way there would still be a slight delay but not frustrating. Personally I adjusted to this during the PT but others don't seem to agree. I also see a lot of comments about the blurring DoF effect around weapon stocks. I do think it's a bit much and could be toned down or made to actually shift in and out of focus more like actual depth of field in your eye.

    As a professional soldier in the Royal Danish Army with 900 Hours, the aim down sight, recoil and reloading while walking is just too unrealistic. It takes too long time to take a shot at enemies.

    Here’s my rebuttal. After a full release, there shouldn’t be huge gameplay mechanic changes like this. That’s what sequels are for. I’m personally not a fan. I have 2k hours and I can’t play the game anymore because I actually don’t want to play Arma. Squad had a good balance of realism and playability. Playability. I don’t like not being able to hit things and coping to pretend to like that.

    slowing down firefights with a system like this has been a thing I've been thinking about and theory crafting in my head for years. Glad to see someone finally do it and you for recognizing the firefight lengthening "fun" effect. ( which I'd also argue starts to encourage gameplay that would be considered more realistic vs lean spamming and out FPS'ing another player ).

    Forcing an entire player base to change a style of gameplay that has been ingrained in them for thousands of hours is inevitably going to piss a lot of people off. I have almost 2k hours, said I was never playing again but here I am.
    I’d still like the sway to be less dramatic, especially with zero stamina. Firing after a sprint isn’t hard, there should be a penalty to it of course but no where nearly as bad as it is currently is. At the very least, buff sprinting. I get that being tactical and communicating with vehicle pick ups are essential but it sucks when I have to pause for 20 seconds after I cross one street

    I really like the ICO.
    What I really like:
    - Longer firefights and consequently longer matches
    - Ironsights and red dot (and equivalents) are actually great now
    - Love the PIP scopes
    Couple of things I like to see changed:
    - Hip firing could be more accurate (less recoil)
    - Time to stabilize/recover should be a bit shorter
    - Increase stamina with 10-20%
    What I would like to see added:
    - Option to walk even slower when ADS and have more stable aim (similar to what is done in Ready or Not)

    I've been wanting to give squad a try for a long time. This may be a good opportunity to jump in since the board has been reset more or less.
    I guarantee it's mostly vets established in their playstyles who don't like this change. From the outside, it seems like hugely positive changes.

    I'm only playing the game again because of this update, it needed this badly. I have over 3k hours on squad for context, I'm also airborne infantry IRL. This update is immersive, a game cannot be "realistic", but this is a huge step in the right direction.

    All this is is them eliminating the old guard so new players that try to play like it’s COD or BF can run around and not get immediately beamed bc no one can even hit them over distance now.
    We still have the issue of optics being far worse than irons/1x, vehicles are now even more valuable bc you can just beam someone with HE or MG while AT spend a half a minute stabilizing a shot before you move again, and the SLIGHTEST amount of surpression takes you out of a close quarters fight unless you get lucky with a mag dump. I personally shoot better than my character! The point of this game is you’re a soldier in a massive battle and decisions should get you killed, not whether or not you let your stamina bar refill or for a single second chose to sprint across a road and then return fire and get annihilated by a bush wookiee because “he shot first”.
    This isn’t a “skill issue” as chat will say to troll and trigger. This is an absolute overtuning that drastically contrasts what the game was for years. This is the Star Wars sequel comparison of game update blunders.

    Huh, I've actually played with MicroMeatMan. He's part of a group of sweats from a popular server who really were obsessed with playing the meta. One of them was infamous for getting really mad and yelling at people if they made a mistake.

    Calling this a review bomb is very disingenuous. Actual veteran players voicing their opinions. I played the shit out of PR and this doesn't feel like it. Now a massive influx of new players that wont/cant/dont SL or follow exactly any of SL's commands. Teamwork is out the window man.
    Over 5000 negative reviews and climbing so it seems alienating even a 1/3 of your player base isn't a very smart decision.
    I just wanted a game that landed between ARMA and what used to be Battlefield. So now my clan waits for a Squad replacement.

      ICO is the one of the worst updates I have ever experience. Its shit top to bottum. Noodle arm simulator at best. I would wager that non of the devs have EVER fired a rifle in real life or been in a real life fire fight. I HAVE and I will tell you the first things you DROP is your 80lb pack. NO fucking reason to carry that while you are ambushed.

    I bought Squad recently solely because the ICO it look like a really fun game.
    Played about 100 hours on v5.0 and it's fun, but the "player skill" thing is really frustrating, like getting instantly headshot by the enemy you've carefully tried to ambush.
    ICO looks like it'll fix a load of that and make it a much more fun role-playing type game, which I'm really excited for.
    Can't wait to get back from holiday and give it a download.

      Besides, aim skill will still be important, it's just that the decoupled sights require you to read the distance from the target more often and make quick adjustments. Not as consistent as before but still doable

    the game feels a lot more balanced and i personally think this update is the right step for the game. it feels like every match is a struggle to win more times than not when before it felt like a lot of the time you would know which way the game would go in the first 10 minuets so i think its a much needed update. and playing as marksman is actually better now i had a game yesterday where i was in the top floor of a house and gave support to are team as they made there way down a street i think i got about 15 kills and actually felt like i was making a difference

    There are people who can disagree with you and thats not review bombing. Holding a gun while standing and then adsing went from realistic to: "Ohh let me take 4 seconds to get this weapon in front of my eye, because I am a trained soldier and thats how we do it". And holy moly the sway is crazy for a shouldered weapon which is not firing. In my opinion you shouldnt make certain aspects of the game more unrealistic to get players to change their playstyle.
    And on another note, I would actually say the only thing that keeps the reviews from dipping even lower are some very weird reviews from mainly people with less than 20 hours, that seem to know exactly what player groups dislike the game and are super invested into the community. My favorites are "iooosef", "Loneliest Potato" and "GATO ARABE", who call out long time players, and talking about what a good direction the game has taken and that they enjoy the new update and two of those have 5,9 and 7,8 hours.

    I have reported it on Discord multiple times. Sway is not reduced when you deploy your bipod prone or crouched, it remains the same. It is as if the bipods do not work. In contrast, sway is reduced when you deploy your bipod standing up. You an easily test it yourselves. In this video,compare sway in 2:36(prone) to 8:46 (standing).

    Someone came through the stream tonight and told me about the video. Actually a great video and another platform to discuss all the changes.
    I think it's of utmost important to remember that everyone's opinions should be respected and valued, whether or not they align with your own. I personally, don't care for *most* of the update in its *current state*, but what I do understand is that there are a lot of people that do, and that makes me happy to hear. I always tell people, I've put 7k hours over 7 years into the game, I love it, and just because I don't care for it's current state of the just released update, doesn't mean I won't play, or absolutely shit on someone for liking the current state of the update. I've seen such a massive divide in the community because of this. People must remember, if the world were perfect and we all agreed on the same thing.... we'd live in some sort of boring Utpoia.
    That being said, I don't think it's fair to call this a review bombing as, like I mentioned before, everyone's opinions matter. Saying that it's a review bomb really makes the opinions of those who cared enough to leave a negative review less valued, and takes away from the value of their opinions, concerns etc etc.
    Do I think you should consider valuing a review that just says, "shit game"? No, of course not, but those who take the time to tell you why they don't like (or like) something is very important.
    Lastly, if you guys in the comments did enjoy the update, take the time to go drop a positive review and show your passion for the game! I haven't left a review as I will wait and see how it goes in the next couple of patches, but if you're enjoying the current state, let them know on the reviews! It's super important for games!

Additionally, (IMO) taking a video game with an already VERY steep learning curve and making it even more difficult is absolutely going to encourage negative reviews.     My question is why are the devs trying to make people play a certain way, you slow down the walking speed so much that your character feels like he has congestive heart failure so you MUST use transports. Long walking flanks work they just take time and now that you move at the pace of a turtle it seems like impossible to stomach the idea, not to mention how are you going to counter a radio bleed when you move slower than dog shit?

    I really don't understand the dissatisfaction surrounding the MG recoil. Yes...if you are prone with a bipod deployed and not firing, you probably shouldn't have any sway. But that particular effect is pretty negligible and it doesn't affect your ability to maintain a clear sight picture. In the military, I had the opportunity to fire a Mk. 48 once. I fired from a prone position with a bipod. While I understand that this doesn't make me an expert, I can tell you that if you are keeping your finger on the trigger, you will have a hard time using any mounted optics effectively; that's just how physics works.
    While the effect in-game may be a bit exaggerated, it does fit the mold for the objective of the update. These weapons kick like crazy, especially when they're chambered in something like 7.62x51. MGs are not designed to be laser beams; they are designed to put rounds downrange. If you want to fire them with any sort of "accuracy", you will need to fire in very short, controlled bursts. I'm sorry, but the HMG kit is not the right choice if you're looking to pop heads.

    ill just leave a quick a experince from an invasion round on al basrah. The entire team was coordenating, in terms of veicules supressing, veicules were carrying infantary logis were at the rear of the convoy. We rushed the first point as a unit, taking advantage and adapting to the new update. After that it was the most coordenated push a squad ive ever experienced. 9 dudes using coms at all time, going from building to building, supressing windows, using smokes, playing as fire teams on different directions... just moving inch by inch, fighting hard, but advancing togheter until we capped all the points. Absolute legendary game, that would never happenned. The first wave would have been easly stopped by "sniper" ats, and we would always get one tapped as we moved field by field

    This update is absolute rancid garbage. Having to wait an excessive amount of time to stabilize one's weapon from walking is asinine. The fact that folks can have a point-blank-range firefight and come away unscathed because of the horribly re-worked recoil is silly. Every gun in the game now (yeah, even pistols) has horrific recoil that makes it seem like your soldier has never held a gun before and is scared of the loud noise it makes. Assaulting is almost a non-starter because the stabilization system heavily rewards camping.
    Picture-in-picture optics and the suppression re-work are pretty cool. Suppression was at a point that it was nearly irrelevant. However, the overall gun-handling is a significant step backwards and has ruined the feel of the game.

    I think the update should just be flat out reverted. Ive spent 3 days trying to move slowly, stay with my squad, and all I'm doing is accidentally TKing and getting shot from nowhere. I cannot find any enemies because they're all camping fully stabilized waiting for people to come by. The entire patch is a huge incentived camping patch, especially when you can't ID teammates VS enemies now.

    I love how terrifying the sound of vehicles and even just HMGs are. Artillery and mortars are incredible now too. Love the ICO. It’s needs some fine tuning, but it’s in a good place overall.

    Get rid of noodle arms and the update is absolutely perfect. I started playing squad years ago because it was realistic. It wasn't a simulator game but it was very realistic, now guns feel like they tried to make them look like they look when you're watching someone's helmet cam almost. I actually get dissy and nauseous from the weapon and scope sway if I play for more than 10 minutes now. As far as im concerned after 2k hours in the game I'm done. To play you basically have to unbind your sprint key and it makes getting around the map painful because I'm terrified of running at all so I walk for ages just to die to a bush. I'm sure you genuinely enjoy and good for you but me and a lot of veterans of this game are walking away until they get rid of noodle arms.

    In my cream corn infantry school days, we were taught to lay half on top of each other as a two man 240 team, second guy holds shooters Kevlar up outta the way and picks targets, as well as adding necessary weight behind the dakka. Those big bois will straight up scoot your ass back like dad strength after a few good bursts. thinking you could get a burst longer than the standard "die mutha ffff die" all onto a single man target beyond a hundo is dreaming. yea the first few, but my guy i aint lyin on the slidin. If this is to be simulation-esq, than one man heavy mg shooter spraying errwherrr is legit. Is this flinching thing making it all obsenely too much? yes. But them big choppas are not really for hitting a lone dude, thats a waste of position broadcasting, hes gotta dump in on when heads need to be forced down more than anything else really. But thats just how i feel

Alls im saiyan is one man heavy mg not being teriibly effective at surgical precision is realism. Updates great, just a couple tweaks as we go.@@roryr8

      Must be 5 foot tall and 100 pounds to have a 240b scoot you back while shooting in the prone. I've got plenty of videos of buddies and myself shoulder firing a half belt or more from the shoulder. Didn't need any boy toys holding me from the recoil and it's not like I'm big, 6'2" and 190.

      I applaud you sir. was that with rounds coming uprange too? no flex, but to consider. I believe distant target sweeps are the idea, not "that one, that one, that one". The game should reflect world innability to look down a barrel a few hundred yards away laying it in your direction, after 40k hump to engage, .08% blood-adrenaline level, and master chief possible and on ocassion as if under best circumstances. @@WartimeFriction

    Being "skilled" outgunning everyone like any other shooter is never what made squad fun. Squad's emphasis on tactical use of teamwork, communication and resources is what separates it from the rest. The funnest option is to approach situations strategically and coordinating with your team rather than brute forcing on your own. Requesting and providing mortar, tank, logistic support, holding down a position with a 50 cal, are feelings COD or battlefield cannot replicate. If you do not intend to communicate or work with your team members and just want K/D ratio then you will have far more fun playing a different shooter.

      Great review, the game's purpose used to be the communication between squaddies and SLs, and SLs with commander in first place, and most important it was fun and strategic at the same time.
      Now you have to fight your own gun instead of the enemy.

    got back into it after ICO and I am loving it. still getting used to everything but you made some very good points about slowing down your gameplay. Used to be the Shift+W player and now I am punished for it, rightly so.
    I feel like ICO might actually get rid of quite some players that otherwise would just be annoying in-game :)

    Before the Update squad was faster paced and the gunplay allowed for very accurate reaction shots even while on the move. Diminishing the importance of working as a team, since a good shooter player could often just aim a bit faster and win a fight even while moving at a fast pace. To change this is basically the main point of the update. I did that too before, simply because it often worked, but i think its a very good thing this is no longer as easily possible.

      Play airsoft with combat vets, or better yet vets with special forces training. They shoot better, move faster and have amazing tactical awareness and positioning. The game functioned this way for 7 years, and now all of a sudden we're supposed to be ok with this sudden drastic change? I'm not, I want to play the old version, make it available in custom. The game officially launched three years ago, and the guns have been handling this way for 7 years. It's not right to force this on the half of the community who hates it. The game is no longer in development, this is a post launch change that's drastically changing the game I bought. Never would have purchased it in this state.

In this game you are just an avarage soldier, the war in ukraine would be done at this point if every person with the slightest military training could march through a open field and tf2 spinbot anyone that pokes their head out from a trench or building.
      2. My brother in christ you cant compare airsoft with actual combat. Wether they are combat vets or not, you will move and react drasitcally different in airsoft compared to a real combat situation, your life isnt on the line, pellets will fly over your head and you wont curl up into a ball in terror, realising how close your entire life was about to go down the drain.

      You're missing my point entirely. They are better because of their movement, awareness and accuracy. Also, you don't change a game 7 years into it's life when it's operated the same way that whole time and expect your community to be A OK with it.

Changing it after 7 years is scummy, sure, but you talking about special forces in airsoft for some reason couldn't be any stupider, seeing how you arnt meant to be special forces at all. Sure you may argue its dumb they punish people for naturally being good at a game but on the other hand it just evens the playingfield, and as mentioned 10098 times, encourages teamwork.

    Honestly the new update is so fresh and made me love the game again. Its a whole new learning curve for experience players. I've only used the Rifleman, LAT and Marksman and both feel great. Definitely don't need the team with you to be effective, just solo holding down a squad with the Marksman with accurate shots does a lot and even when they would return fire and suppress me, it was still manageable to relocate and take more shots. Vics also being more powerful with the update is great, it was so rewarding to prep the shot and have it hit the target and cause them to panic and free up your team from their suppression.

    I’ve had so many upsets in fire fights because before even getting shot I couldn’t find the target in my reticle because it was FUCKING BLACKED OUT OR ABOVE MY FUCKING SCREEN! Why did OWI have to ruin a good thing? Why did they think not being able to hit your target was a “good” change?

    The game officially launched and they are making changes to an untouched system 7 years in folks. Imagine this with any of your other favorite games, then image putting in thousands of hours on the same system for those years to have it all taken away in a single update 7 years later. This is why we're upset. Squad was my favorite game, they turned it into something so far from my opinion of a FUN mix of what it was, something between arcade and sim. I don't want to ruck, eat MRE's, dig latrines, listen to my bunkie play a shitty guitar. I don't want a sim guys, I want what I had for 7 years.... how is this not understandable to those of you who may even enjoy these changes. Surely you can understand how taking what something was for 7 years and then not giving your community access to that thing anymore and forcing them to adapt would be upsetting. Imagine fortnite, COD, BF, PUBG, any of those games making changes this drastic so late. The internet would be on fire. This is no different, we're just a much smaller community, and I don't think that invalidates our voice.

    there's also the issue of what kinds of players are attracted to the PTU. the people playing the game are most likely consisting of people who participated in the PTU. the rest just felt surprised or extremely pissed lol

    I'm both immensely enjoying the update, with the caveat that some things need to be toned down, while at the same time feeling sympathetic towards those who feel burned that their preferred style of gameplay is being drastically changed. I don't really know what else to say.

    The funniest thing I’ve seen is more players using their secondary as a primary weapon. I ran into an enemy, who hid in a building after I shot at them, and then peeked the doorway with their pistol. Scopes are useless unless you stand completely still.

    Tons of games out there that already provide the run and gun experience. Too many games have already bowed down to the call of duty play style (looking at you. Battlefield).
    It's nice to have a game that finally sports team play and players who take the time to do be more tactical.

      And thats why battlefield is one of the greatest franchises of all time. No one knows what squad is and no one ever will with this new update. I loved squad before and hate it now, dont get me wrong squads not horrible, but they tried to be too realistic. A mounted MG should never have that much recoil+ after running for 15 seconds you should easily be able to fire a burst of shots from a M4 without shooting the planes in the sky.

      Squad has tons of full servers. The only thing killing it is people trying to play it like COD and not as a team.

    it might not be realistic but forcing people to work together by nerfing the individual player’s combat power is a valid choice for forcing teamwork. It’s called “SQUAD” not “DUDE” for a reason. I do think specialist classes need to be buffed to make coordinated teamwork more important though. They should honestly give all specialist classes more special ammo and less other equipment. Like all the lats get two/three HEAT shots but only 5 mags, no frags, and a weaker pdw instead of a rifle. I think overall this update is an improvement despite the meh optics. Honestly PIP was a probably waste of developer resources, just looks and feels worse especially using AT/MG. Machine gunners especially youd think would be better at shooting that the average dude, not worse! If any class is able to full-auto laser beam people at 100y it should be him.

    I'm convinced that most players don't even know there's a stamina system in this game. (FYI moi, if you walk at half stamina and then sprint again you travel the map *JUST AS FAST* as if you sprint at 0 stamina.) So it's not even to "slow people down". It's to punish mindless COD/BF players more than anything.

    I find it funny how when I bought this game, I could run it no problem, and now over the years I can hardly play it on the lowest settings with the same computer. I know the review bombs aren't because of the optimization, but this is just another part of the game where the devs completely gave up.

    Im loving the new update man, this adds a whole new dimension to the game! Theres new things to master and it punishes you for playing alone. Seeing an mg disengage after you supressnis an even better feeling than landing a one tap man. Honestly, its incredible.

    Not a fan of the update. I live fire squad firefights but now i fucking find myself looking at my respawn menu after having my screen blurry for a minute from an MRAP blasting my position. In some cases vehicles have locked a whole team into their main spawn.. the game isnt enjoyable anymore and from an OG squad player im disapointed. The update looks amazing but doesnt feel amazing. Safe to say this game will now collect dust in my steam library 😔

      @vgamedude12 cod is a game of its self and squad doesn't even come close to how the combat was like before. The game was also so slow. The amount of my friends that I tried to get into squad and left because they said it was a running sim and the gameplay was slow was astonishing. Now they have made it more slow. You're playing as a soldier. Not someone who has noodle arms and can't 100m without being gassed. I'm in the army and in full kit you can still run, if they wanted to slow the gameplay they could just increase vehicle timers making them a priority not just a quick transport then ditch it in some trees.

    Idk man, I've not played a lot of Squad, I bought it about a year ago, played a lot of Arma 3 and Tarkov and I decided to download it again recently and it felt off for me, I thought I was crazy for a second because how extremely bad it felt, so yes I saw the big patch played for a few hours and decided that this isn't for me now. But sad about it but it is what it is.

    One thing that really sucks in the 6.0 update is the fact the soldier shakes the weapon so easily, even the handguns daamn. Jesus , what a crap. I heard from professional shooter that in real life it isn´t like that. The recoil is ridiculous, the supression sistems is shit ( why the screen takes so long to clean the blurry after being supressed?) , optimization is still a BIG issue and why the hell the character´s leaning is so fucking slow?????. Ready or not is a grat example in terms of supression system and gun mechanics.

    Well in Squad you went from playing a trained soldier to playing an untrained milita-man holding a gun for the first time.
    The amount of time it takes to get sightpicture when clicking to aim is ridiculous, not close to reality. The recoil is also ridiculous, way over the top in relation to the real world.

    The sway when aiming down sights is insane
    A soldier would be able to steady his rifle pretty fast when his life depends on it. It does feel like you're drunk when you aim

    I don't think devs have fired a real gun, let alone been suppressed. 556 Nato has very minimal aim punch in real life. Perhapse aim punch for people that get hit should be a thing. Also 556 nato machine guns are controllable because of the build, hence less aim punch compared to a 240B 762nato. The developers need a range day to get aim punch down. Personally I have switched game play to only vechicles and door gunner.

    I like the changes. I'm happy with a game slowing down gunfights, emphasizing suppression, and encouraging teamwork. I get that some people want it more skill based, but there is no shortage of games that do skill based shooting really well. Squad is different, and I think this helps. I want to win because I was working well with a squad and using good tactics more than I want to win because of quick reflexes and aiming.
