    To be honest this seriously makes me reconsider ever purchasing a Sig firearm, there was a problem they knew about but sold them anyway touting how reliable they are. Also I do find the slight water in the barrel causing malfunctions to be a extreme issue, up here in Montana with the snow it is near impossible to keep water out of your barrel when going through thick brush as snow falls off the trees and all over your rifle, granted that is during hunting season and I'm using a bolt action 30-06 but an mpx as a bug out weapon or a pdw would be a poor choice if it takes so little to fail. The new ones maybe good to go, but it seems like with sig maybe they have another problem hoping nobody will bring it to the light and force them to fix it, great video as always

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  4 года назад +75

      People said I was overblowing the issues of water in the barrel. Sure, if you live in a desert it's not likely to be an issue. However, where I live it snows. When you go outside with a warm gun, when the show lands on it you get water. It also rains here, a lot at times. If you're outside in adverse weather it could be an issue. Most shooters never spend any time outside when the weather is less than ideal. For them, it's a non-issue. For those of us that practically live outside, I don't want my defensive arm not working with a dab of water in the barrel. So, I agree with you. Happy New Year.

      Pleases dont buy one, that will leave more for the rest of us. The Model T didn't start and run the first time out. It's part of the process with innovation. Wieners like you discourage innovators from trying new things. I would be concerned if they fluffed the off. The gun is now better because of the process. Sorry for now you wont be able to go lobster hunting with the MPX you dont own.

      @@ReverendMeat51 I waited for over 20+ years for a game like Total War: Warhammer (1 & 2) to finally come to fruition. I simply do not have the patience nor the artistic capability to paint miniatures. Plus the rules are seemingly endless.
      So when my wife and I (used to) play, it was with the stock grey miniatures after they were assembled. That all stopped once I learned about Creative Assembly and their upcoming TWW game. I was so ecstatic that I purchased a PC Gaming _Monster_ computer just so I could flawlessly play this computer game. Longevity was key when I purchased this gaming rig.
      It was also somewhat difficult to squeeze the trigger on the purchase being a 2A family. The many-many thousands of dollars this computer cost could have easily set me up with a plethora of "got to have it" 2A items. I could have just as easily upgraded to the latest and greatest NODs for the same price with some extra left over for ammo.
      Nonetheless, I can safely say I/we are happy with our decision towards purchasing this incredible PC I am currently using. Suffice to say that it has paid for itself.

      I personally know 31 people who own Taurus handguns. And each has sent it back, Taurus fixed
      the problem and returned it to the purchaser, free of charge! No problems since then!
      Yeah?!?!?! Why don't they just assemble the thing properly, in the first place!!
      And it's not just them, seems like 99% of purchasers, have had to send it back. They keep telling me
      that I should buy Taurus. I think I will continue to buy Colt, Ruger, S&W, Dan Wesson, Browning,
      Charter Arms, High Standard, Star, Winchester, Remington, Mossberg, H&R, Armalite, Husqvarna,
      Ithaca, Marlin, Mauser, Savage-Stevens. New or Used, doesn't bother me. I've got a Remington 1911 R1,
      and have had NO problems with it! 700 rounds so far (and then I cleaned it!). I punched the bore
      with a Bronze Brush every 50 rnds, but wanted to push it a bit. Works as well as my Colt Government
      Model, Series 70, Mark 4. I will end here.

      @chrisclark6161 4 года назад +1

      I'm assuming that was a typo. They sold for like 1500. retailers bumping the price for covid still leaves it under 2500. Once you contextualize the issue, it was still worth 1500. It's been out for 7 years, and this has never come up before. It's not a serious issue, unless you just want to bash sig.

      @@chrisclark6161 On GunBroker, I see them between $2200 and $2800. And yes, I do want to bash Sig. They routinely sell expensive products to the public without doing serious testing. They expect the consumer to pay to do their testing. We’ve seen it with the P365, 322, MCX, Cross and more. It’s ridiculous to pay 1000’s of dollars for their untested products.

    • @chrisclark6161
      @chrisclark6161 4 года назад +4

      @@roul3688 That would be retailers and private sales asking 2,800 due to covid/election panic. Mine was 1500, which is a fair price. Also, I completely understand wanting to bash sig for truely fucking up a lot of stuff. But this isn't a strong case for it. This is an example of being too bash happy. It's an issue you have to deliberatly find, and a very minor one at that. It's also not unique. Early ARs recommended draining the barrel after submersion, and it's standard practice in the military to eject the round and drain the barrel to this day.

    • @roul3688
      @roul3688 4 года назад +4

      @@chrisclark6161 Maybe it’s just me, but I would think that before selling a military grade product, likely initially designed for the military, they would’ve dunked their gun into some water during their testing... that is of course if they test beyond firing 3 rounds. I’m not military but if I’m spending $1500 and up on what’s supposed to be a military grade product, I expect it to at least be as reliable as an AR or AK.

I put the CMMG trigger pack in it and that helped a lot. A handy firearm, Later from Texas.

    I guessed the fix before watching, that's no biggie, the big news is that SIG admitted a problem. :)

    My MPX, which is about 5 years old, bobbed at first, with failures to feed. I smoothed the feed ramps and cleared that up. It ran almost flawlessly for a few years, then it stated short stroking with failures to eject. It got worse and worse until it totally became a single shot weapon....
    Contacted Sig, they were aware and sent a re-designed gas plug. Substantially different from the original. Swapped it out and she's running great again. A buddy bought his MPX same time as mine and his developled the same issue. Again, swapped out the newly designed gas plug and it too, is running properly again.

    I have a new SIG Copperhead K and don't know which gas blocks cuts it has. The MAC tests are fun to watch and he provides a wealth of information to the shooting community. My combat days are hopefully long over and my gun used for home defense and local matches where braced pistols are allowed. Here in Oregon it does rain at matches on occasion, but I'm not going to run out and sell my Copperhead K. If it every hydro-locks, I will know what action to take.

      @Militaryarmschannel  4 года назад

      I think the vast majority of shooters are in the same boat as you. Most will never fire their MPX outside when it's raining or snowing for any length of time. The guns will be taken to the range on nice days or shot indoors 99% of the time. However, in my case, if I know there is an issue I naturally want it fixed. It's a personality quirk. Happy New Year!

    I love Sig but damn they have so many issues compared to other guns. I have had several P320s and they have had a couple issues here and there. Had to send first one back to Sig because of a reset issue. My P320 RX has been flawless. My MPX had a broken firing pin and they sent me back an entirely new bolt. Just recently replaced the firing pin extractor and kept the o ring out and it seems to be running fine now (knock on wood) Surprisingly my P365 (again knock on wood) has run flawlessly. Now the Sig Cross firing on it's own. Come on Sig!!! When they get it right it's awesome but seems they very seldom get it right on the first try these days.

      My CZ 75 P01 thanks to this channels recommendation has been perfect, would never sell it.

    I just picked up a new MPX K that was built sep 2021 and the upper receiver has slight alterations than this generation. There are only 3 vents in the handguard above the barrel and the left side of the firearm no longer says MPX on the upper and there has been some alterations made to the two screws that hold the ejector in place

      Just watched the video at ruclips.net/video/dmWOTBQdePo/видео.html and at about the 8:00 mark, he completely submerges the Galil Ace pistol, pulls it out of the water and immediately fires. After one shot, it malfunctions and he has to pull the charge handle back and it worked for subsequent shots. Maybe malfunctioning with water in it is not as unusual and worrisome as some would believe. Just expect to have to recharge the weapon.

    Sig may have messed up not figuring this out in more depth of some of their firearms. I own several SIG products and never had any issues with them and also SIG is literally like the only company that is actually coming up with new designs/products than any other company out there. So in some sense there will be issues with new products they make, but that comes with making new things.

    Makes since. From a fluid dynamics standpoint water likes to drain better out of a non symmetrical hole. Perfect circular holes, especially smaller ones, not so much. If it was just the round gas port hole on its own it would drain as long as it could flow out somewhere else. However if the only way out for that water is another small round hole it's easy for it to get held in due to surface tension.

    I think I finally found out the reason for Sigg’s Unreliability issues:
    The people at sig. do not know the difference between 1 billion and 1 million. This was from the email that touted the millionth P365 but show the number “1,000,000,000th p365” displayed underneath picture for the article that reports on the millionth P365 born this year.

    WARNING - read before you purchase. Test your ILWT barrel to ensure that ammo feeds correctly. Mine did not because of a high feedramp. ILWR is 0.060” compared to the OEM 0.035””. The higher feedramp resulted in bullets nose diving into the base of the feedramp and not onto the feedramp resulting in stoppage. Because I let the gun sit in my safe for a year and did not identify and report earlier, ILWT won’t work the issue and I am required to make Dremel modifications to correct the geometry of the feedramps to allow seamless feeding and function. I highly recommend identifying the issue early and brining it to ILWE’s attention or else you too will have to break out the Dremel.

    I noticed the price of this gun went down considerably to around the same as a PTR MP5 clone and the magazines have reduced in price as well comparable to MP5 mags. I guess Sig wised up and realized they were charging too much for the MPX and proprietary mags that people were still buying MP5 clones instead at cheaper prices.
