for me these are two speakers oriented to 2 different end-users Yamaha HS5: is a good speaker that is more oriented to professionals who seek to monitor a sound source where the important thing is the fidelity. For me its sound is somewhat excessive in the "bright and crystalline", but I think it is because it is more oriented to the monitoring of voices. KRK Classic 5 CL5G3: speakers less suitable for monitoring due to their intense bass that tends to cover the mid tones. they are suitable for those who want to listen to music already mixed and who, of course, like bass.
Was going to buy HS5's because I like my HS8s very much. But after watching many comparisons including yours I ended up going KRK 5 Classic on used market. Very happy with choice. I would have loved the HS5's too, or KRK Rokit 5 G4 or G5. They're all small but mighty.
I've got krk classic 5 for over 2 years and I agree that the bass is exaggerated and is covering mid range. You can dial down bass but only - 1dB which isn't enough especially in small rooms where there is a lot of bass reflecting from walls. For mastering ang mixing sound classic 5 are ok when you direct them to your ears (twitters)and when listeting in very close range - less than 1 m. For listening to music classic 5 can be good if You dont mind hearing mostly bass and high freq because that's how they sound from over 1 m. Also keep in mind that krk classic 5's frequency response is from 56 Hz so it isn' enough for edm, dub, and heavy bass music. Based on my experience with these speakers I would recommend krk's for all kinds of music except mentioned above heavy bass genres, classical music and ambient music where there isn't enough mids for full enclosure. As for Yamaha speakers from what I can hear in this comparison I think these could be good for mastering and mixing music but not for enjoying to music while listening. It's due to exaggerated mids in Yamaha.
@@emil3090which speakers would you recommend for making hard trance , dub & house music ? I had done krk 8’s but they cancelled my order last minute , I thought they sounded perfect
@@SnazzyBoxx Krk classic 5 are good for producing all kind of music including heavy bass genres unless You're interested in freq below 50 Hz. Then You'll need bigger speakers - at least 7 inch woofers and room where the distance from front of speakers to the wall is like 4 m or more - for front bass port designs. I do rock music and these are ok(not perfect - guitars sound less juicy sometimes than it should) for the job. When listening to Classic 5's You get the impression there's a lot of bass especially when listening fro over 1 m which is due to front bass port but sometimes ( rarely) You can experience that the lowest notes in bassline in heavy bass music are barely audible. It's probably because notes are much bellow 50 Hz.
Why not prefer krk cl 5 rather than buying hs5 and spending more money on subwoofer. People are saying hs5 have no bass and krk 5 have too much bass. hs5 with sub woofer would cost around same as buying hs8 which have punchy and good bass.
@@swapnilnegi8879 The problem with hs5s is usually "the inexperienced user" thinks the monitor is imperfect and lacks bass. Prefer Yamaha, maybe needs a sub. KRK seem to have too much boosted 60hz which really accentuates when they cannot output the deeper stuff getting that annoying boxy/boomy sound not sure how to describe.
Why not prefer krk rather than buying hs5 and spend extra money for subwoofer? Krk already got enough bass and great bass response. For a beginner producer krk's are way to go I think so
yes, i think they just changed the text on the speaker lol .... on RP5 G3 : bass -2 -1 flat +1 .... on classic : bass -1 flat +1 +2 ;o) but the speaker is exactly the same i think ....

@@sergrful But what if you hear less bass and turn it on more? lol it's all down to ear pleasure mate. KRK: help! I don't have any mids!
Yamaha: no worries I got some spare here you can borrow!
yeah ...... exactly !! RP5 + HS5 / 2 = perfect studio speaker :)
Krk classic sounds flatter and closer to the original tracks with a more accurate bass response while the yamahas sound a bit exaggerated in the mids
Man the KRKs in the lower range and tone sound amazing for the price and I need that bass in my life bass is everything 😎🤙🏾
Sadly, both are flawed, but in different ways. I'd probably go for the KRK and dial down the bass a bit.
finally a real objective opinion.

Thank you for this comparison. It helped me decide which ones I dislike more.
Always happy to help!
Krk monitors really better than yamaha hs5. Yamaha has so much mid freq. I guess I buy krk. Thank you for comparison 🙏
Yamaha HS5 has much clarity for every pitch, pretty good for a studio monitor
To use the KRK as a 2.0, the Yamaha (More brighter) would use them on a 2.1, as Kevin H already mentioned, a sub would be good for them.
Greetings
hello, it would be interesting to compare both the frequency response of the adam a3x and t7v, the price is close, how the size will affect the sound.
The Yamahas are more ugly/revealing. This is what monitors are for, to reveal flaws in the sound/mix, not to flatter the audio and sound good!
I LIKE THE KRK'S.
These comparisons are so helpful. Thank you
Is the bass like this or is there a sub woofer?

JBL 305 mk2
depends on what you want to do with them. JBLs for fun listening, Yamahas for mixing. I have jbl 305s and hs8
