This is such a simple and fun way to paint a robin, a perfect Christmas card painting technique for all the family to do. We use just ONE brush to do the whole project, see how many different positions and poses you can paint your robins in!

This was So fun! Used it as a decoration for a fall card with the Autumn wreath. On the inside of the card wrote welcome autumn with a branch the robins perched on the branch. Loved it!

It's a rainy October Sunday here and what a brilliant excuse to return to these fabulous little robins! They will be the subject of many of my Christmas cards - I never become tired of painting them as they turn out a little differently every time. They are lovely little characters - thank you Harriet!

Hi Eric, I'm thrilled to hear your 5 year old enjoyed painting this. I have never been sure as to how young an age watercolour works for but I always endeavour to simplify shapes and processes so everyone feels it is accessible. it is wonderful to hear that it doesnt matter how old you are!
I did so many of these at Christmas time and just couldn’t resist watching this again on a snowy January day! My cards with these little robins turned out brilliantly every time - they were never quite the same but each had their own little character. Because they were so simple, I experimented with different backgrounds and groupings which was such fun. Thank you for sharing this.

Went to a garden centre with my daughter and grandson today, and in amongst other beautiful decorations I saw a chubby little bird, and actually said to my daughter «I want to get out my watercolours and paint a chubby robin”. I LOVE this tutorial! To my Mum, a Robin is her Dad and a Wren is her Mum. I want to learn to watercolour so I can paint them for her. This is the ‘easiest’ (famous last words!) tutorial and the sweetest little Robin I’ve found. I’m going to attempt it in the morning. I have a habit of thinking I’ve messed up immediately and throwing the whole lot out, so please wish me luck! ❤️

The shape reminds me of fat little Christmas partridges, just add a bit of gray to the body and a bit of gray plus a few darker brown and a bit of short black stripes bits on their wings!... so beautiful either way!.... thank you for sharing this!💕
