My friend bought a really nice Bowie knife off wish, he received a beautiful screen print of said knife lol. It's hanging on his wall
*_But, if you go up in price, aquarium scenery can be very good; also for wargaming terrain. But now we all have 3D printers, so there's no point in buying aquarium terrain for wargaming, not even "sunken ships" or "large dragon skeletons". If you are gifted or find a large bundle for next to nothing, "hmmm"._*
*_However, plasticard of great quality is amazing for building blinged-out-board game-tiles, or mazes or dungeons. That was a few sheets of garbage you bought-but we all knew it would be garbage. Black plasticard(stiff), for making large, confined board game boxes/tiles/pieces is siiick._**_
*_The video was still fun._*
@@footrot17😊
Why don't you run water through the airbrush to clean it out ? or alcohol.
I honestly love that they're passing off aquarium decorations as "terrain".
Who would ever use that…🙄
@@ajk354 I got some nice resin columns on clearance at the pet store.
There are Aquarium pieces out there that are actually nice.
Actual aquarium decorations are more expensive than GW terrain here soooooo 😅
why not? I use quarium terrain all the time. looks great and super cheap
Hell yeeeeeah, just as I sat down on the toilet, perfect timing
Hahahhaha same here 😂
You too!?
😂😂 same here
Sameeeeeee
Snap
As an aquarium hobbyist, I'm pretty sure the "terrain" models are just fish tank decorations being rebranded for miniatures lol
Honestly I go to animal stores just to get terrain for warhammer and dnd
Where did it say in the description it even was for miniatures?
it literally says "aquarium decoration" in the title of the product, only one scamming you is squidmar
Clearly says "Ornamental fish tank hiding cave"
omg I bought it for my minis and it doesn't work
Yeah no shit.
It said "aquarium" in the description.
“Grinder; is that the website you are on all the time?” 😂😩
Fun fact, those cheap -ass brushes are the ones I use on my daily hobby 🙈
me too, spend enough on warhammer that I can't justify buying expensive brushes :(
Lol I do have a set of those cheapass 5$ ten packs of brushes as well. I have some Kolinsky Sable and other higher quality synthetic brushes now but I still use the cheap stuff to put down the first basecoat and such.
A Navy SEAL with a bb gun will outshoot an average Joe with a match grade pistol. Brush quality doesn't matter nearly as much as practice painting.
@@user-sy8ew6gb7q yeah but since its a hobby its a plus if they are at all pleasent to use XD
“This sucks and it’s so hard to work with”
Produces something better than I could ever hope to - a testament to their skill
whatever the editor(s) are being paid, they deserve a raise
Yasssss
I would love to see a brush comparison of a pro painter with very poor brushes and a beginner with premium brushes
My thoughts precisely. It's a bit of a myth to say kolinsky = better painting.
Make the pros use craft paint and I am sold
@@yeoboshongYes and no.
I am beginner painter - just finished my first fully painted game (Death may die)
Somewhere in the middle of painting I have recieved Kolinsky brush as a gift.
I can confirm that good brush wont suddenly make you pro painter, but good brush with proper tip is just much easier to handle and even tho the result isnt that much better, becouse I am still noob, its so much easier and feel better to use...
my friend is artist and he only use cheap brushes. But all his money goes to expensive paint
One thing to be mindful of with drill-type devices is "what are they intended for?" I use a multitool designed for use on acrylic/gel nails rather than a hobby drill or dremel-type device because plastic and PLA and resin are closer to nail extension products (acrylic and gel) than wood and metal. Also the Wowstick drill seems like it has no power but it's meant to be low-speed/high-torque for use on PCB's and plastics.
Using a polish bit to grind plastic doesn't help much either...
@@CommDante the stone tip is not for polish XD
I actually think the first Rockery (big barrel) was quite nice as decoration that you don't look closely at. For 3$ it's acceptable
Hey guys I grabbed that exact air brush, took me a ages to notice that there is a small adaptor that is in the black box that needs to go on first before it becomes duel action, otherwise it does what you see it doing just blowing air.
That's included incase you use it with a compressor that can tolerate a dual-action airbrush. Some sites are honest enough to say that those hand-held compressors will fail if they have back pressure.
So use them single action when totally portable; and get almost dual-action when using a good compressor and air tank.
I've bought something very similar to the "beauty system" a while ago as my first airbrush and it's not very good, but! It does it's job. I use it for priming minis and painting terrain. It's quiet and portable - that's a huge plus. Clogging can happen if I don't rinse it with water thoroughly after each use. Overall, it's a strong 6/10 from me.
This happens with any airbrush, $300 clogging the same way as $15 (I have both, just in case, and use $15 very often with 0.5 needle it clogging a lot less than 0.3 expensive one)
The music you chose to play over Lukas reminiscing over grinding on the titan diorama was perfect. Love that song.
Berserk always hit man
I've always been curious about the super cheap airbrushes!😂
Same. I've considered getting one just for priming.
They should have paired a Wish air compressor with that brush.
I imagine squidmar has a really nice compressor so it will make it seem better than it is.
@@tay13666I bought an airbrush used for cake decorating, it has a rechargeable battery air pump attached to the nozzle, it's fine for priming and zenithal highlights but it's quite heavy and awkward to hold in your hand, and the nozzle you get with the airbrush isn't great, but I've bought more detailed nozzles individually so it's pretty good.
A downside to using a battery powered airpump is you have to make sure you're not using the pump on low battery because the PSI does change compared between a full battery and low battery
I bought a cheap $25 set off Amazon. The airbrush is decent as is the small compressor, but the quality is crap. The on/off switch is broken so you have to unplug it to turn it off. Not bad for the price, and I only really use it for priming so far. Once I get some terrain put together that will be the next test.
Got one for 15$, very similar like the one they used in the video. Good enough for priming. 10-15 secs on a smaller model and it's done.
My first airbrush was one that cost $40, comes with a small compressor that overheats after an hour and an airbrush that was really hard to clean. BUTT, I end up using it for priming miniatures since it didn't work properly in small details
Cheap airbrush for saving money in priming cans is a really good investment
Even more expensive compressors overheat if they don't have a tank
exactly, but Squid's advice to avoid due to difficult maintenance is good advice. I started with a similar kit, used it for basing and it worked well. With a better kit, a hobbyist is spared the frustration of learning how to tear down and reassemble a cheap airbrush, to be able to focus on painting instead.
@@JeffreyBenjaminWhite , but one should clean an expensive airbrush, too, and to do this properly able to disassemble it,
Of course, design flows could cause more issues, but this is not necessary, there are no fundamental differences between expensive and cheap airbrush
@@gi1dor yes of course. the idea is however that people mistake cheap for beginner... when a beginner benefits most from the better reliable easier to use and to maintain unit... where an expert can airbrush with a cocktail straw and a balloon.
@@JeffreyBenjaminWhite It's a double-edged sword. Yes, something cheap may cause more issues for beginners, so force them to try to solve them, but on the opposite end, by convincing beginners to buy expensive tool which they are not sure they need and may not like using cause or they never tried it or regret spending money on it
I would also say it's not an issue of cheap and expensive, there are many very cheap, but very serviceable, airbrushes now on the market and no need to avoid them, but as with any tool, better to check what experienced people would say about it.
I gotta say guys, I’m not even sure that the first one was a scam more poor reading. it was literally advertised as aquarium Rockery it had nothing to do with miniatures in the title 😂
I've order those triangle shaped paint brushes, and they were surprisingly good, better than I had expected
/puts brush from Wish in mouth/ yep, you now have an STI
When you put that resin on that beautiful squig I was like “WTF?! No!!” Lol
Maybe they'll find a lost Primarch there..... you'll never know
Emptygrim of the emperor's mothers
I've had my fair share of cheap humidifiers, and let me tell, you, that humidifier will work until it gets clogged up with limescale and stuff. Then it will stop working, no matter the amount of tries and methods of cleaning.
Your editing is on point. It’s always been solid but it seems to get even better over time. Great work, awesome content 👍🏼🤙🏼
Noticed this too.
The Editing is really good 👍
Duuuude you’ve come a long way man! I remember watching you when you were at 98k subs and now at a 581k you deserve every single one of them man. The minis you paint and the content you upload is legendary. Much love Emil!
i have an airbrush similar to the orange one, cost me about £10 on amazon, and frankly i love it i have had it for 6 years with no issues, i recently brought a harder and steenbeck but still use the cheap one for 90% of my airbrush work the H&S only gets used for small super precise detailing work
The same story for me, I have H&S, but use it mostly for detail highlighting, 90% of day to day airbrush work doing with an airbrush from $30 set with mini compressor (but with different compressor now)
@@gi1dor yeah I should add I brought a proper compressor as the ones that come with the cheap kits can barely get 10 psi
Loved this. Very chill and entertaining. Thanks to you both!
I hope you do a video like this but for fake warhammer or stuff like trying to be warhammer , would be fun to see what scam warhammer models are out there
The joke would be that the recasters models are better quality than GW resin
@@CaptnLoken Also they have all the stuff that GW can't be assed to restock, some models have been sold out on the GW website for like a year...
Don’t joke about Lucas using grinder, don’t give me hope😭😭
I tried buying a body pillow of Lukas on wish, but it never arrived :(
Lukas painting this vampire with a split brush in 10 minutes, while I took 8 weeks.
is it really a warhammer scam if its made for fish and train sets?
It was pushed to us when we searched for warhammer on wish ;)
Machinist here, you can sharpen drills on a grinder , 135 degree and create a cutting relief for the chips. You can also make a ghetto endmill with bad drills, just need to profile and get a cutting geometry on the flutes on your grinder
The meme energy in this one was strong as fudge!
I have the exact same chrome orange air brush. As a total noob at airbrushing I found it worked quite well. But the time it takes to fully clean it is frustrating
I work at a pet store in the U.S. and boys, let me tell you- you got a good deal on that quality, I promise. The best part of Aquarium "terrain" is the texture, and even that's not great. Trust me, $3-$6 for stuff like that is perfectly fine. Look for bigger fish tank decorations if you want some "quality" stuff. 😜
“These paint brushes are the worst” paints to amazing high standard anyways
First time I've ever actually purchased from a sponsor. Good work guys
You'll be super happy with these
Agh! I am so sad there are no good airbrushes online! If only there was a reliable youtuber around who would release a quality airbrush with some cool aquatic design on it (probably)
Until the day comes I will be forever scammed with fake airbrushes... 😢😢
Please help, squidmar 😢
Give me two weeks
@SquidmarMiniatures thank god for squidmar! Now alls I am missing is some quality jumpers and tshirts! Perhaps I must continue my search for a good reliable set of youtubers to release their own of those too !
Give me a month@@miller413
@SquidmarMiniatures ... is there anything he cannot do!? Thank you team squidmar x 🐙 🦑 🐙
You could try and repaint the terrain pieces.
"this looks so bad because the drill bits are already rusty"
me with my expensive army painter pin vise that started to rust the day after i bought it:
Clogmaster: "I can't clog... if I always shoot air" 😎
I’m sure the sponsor loved “speaking of scams” 🤣
A Golden Demon Winner said during an interview:
"While a master can paint perfectly with trash tools, the last thing a beginner need is to fight bad, cheap tools while trying to learn to paint. A beginner will learn slower and learn the wrong way of painting by unknowingly compensating for the bad tools, not even knowing that the tools are the actual problem, not the painter. Always buy the best, more expensive and most recommended Highest-Quality tools as a beginner. Later on you can buy whatever."
I don't remember the guys name but his wisdom is a timeless truth and helped me alot in the beginning of my painting journey. Just buying the IWATA HP-CS changed everything about airbrushing for me, for example.
That’s true for most things.
Learn to Drive in a Porsche😍
@@wrah5480exactly! Beginners have a lot higher chance to accidentally destroy more expensive stuff
Yes, you don't want to buy bad products with which you would struggle, but there is no reason to overpay too and especially buy the best ones
I think that this advice is actually a bad one, there is no universal rule, beginners just should understand how to use tools
Of course if you are not limited in money, it's fine, otherwise it's a pretty bad advice
'This brush has three tips!' - Still better than what I can do with my good brushes because I'm that bad.
I like the cheap "sable but not really" brushes for base coats and colour blocking, then I move to the more expensive, quality brushes for details. Especially for paints that tend to destroy brushes like washes, metallics and contrast, they are cheap enough that it doesn't really matter to me.
Orders aquarium decorations
"WhY dOn'T mY MiNis fiT?"
"SPEAKING OF SCAMS, HERE'S OUR SPONSOR" LOL CHAD MOVE
I love seeing these kinds of videos! Fun stuff, with the potential for a hidden gem
about the airbrush I know so many people telling me airbrushed was only good for basing, because they bought this kind of stuff. There is a reason why airbrushes are expensive but people often favor cheap stuff as a beginning to "try out" and get the wrong idea.
Even a cheap airbrush can be fine for highlights if you have a skill for it and know how maintain and sometimes improve it (polish needle, seal all connections properly, lubricate needle and trigger, and just properly clean it)
I wouldn't blame cheap airbrushes for this, this just requires quite a lot of skill and practice
I think the only thing which is different with more expensive airbrushes, is that after purchase more expensive ones, it pushes the owner to master it out, otherwise one thinks that they are wasted money
when you get to the brushes part i am reminded why i dont really do the hobby anymore. "this looks like poop... proceed to paint a model i would think is amazing".... so yeah i am terrified of ever showing my models to anyone, and thus the hobby is kinda dead to me.
As a person who only uses Airbrushes for Priming, I look at the orange one and go "Maybe look into it" I don't take the best care of my Airbrushes, but I also only buy cheap garbo ones, so I don't mind;
Those brushes that Emil tested are actually quite alright, I own a VERY similar looking set of brushes that are most likely from the same factory with just a different brand getting their name printed on them, other than that they are identical. Even if the tips might look bad occasionally they can be reshaped fairly easily and if you clean them properly after use they will last pretty long, they are great for both beginners wanting to test the hobby and for more seasoned painters that need some good quality but still cheap workhorsebrushes :)
Yeah, they look like the ones I got on Amazon.
They work great if you aren't expecting super fine detailing out of them. I use my good brushes for that. But for basecoating and intermediate highlighting they are perfectly fine. And you get a whole set for less than one 'good' brush.
The real scam is the scam numbers getting mixed up lmao pretty sure I saw “Scam Six” pop up three times 😅
The drill is for nail saloons and the airbrush is for makeup and other products, that why they are branded as "beauty".
Dude :D the dremel is for nails!
Aquarium ornaments have always been a bit shit in the dry because they're made to sit submerged in a fishtank and can't be too textured for the health of the tank & occupants.
Drillbits were crap but what about the handle?
Should come back to the "dremel" after a while to see if the motors still working
Beauty airbrush system sounds like it belongs in a spray tan booth
fwiw the airbrush with the battery-powered air compressor is actually meant for cake decoration and makeup, so variable pressure isn't really needed.
My $60 Chinese Portable / Wireless Airbrush is awesome. After some use, I placed the Airbrush with the cheapest Iwata. It's more than a year old and is super convenient.
I ordered those same brushes....2 of them had paint dried in the bristles.... lol.
I got one of those cheap China airbrushes with the handheld compressor. The brush that came with it was crap. But I swapped it out for a proper airbrush, and it works great!
But how do you adapt the nozzle ? Is there an adapter ?
@@pan2aja the nozzle? The compressor unscrews from the crappy airbrush and screws on to the new airbrush. It was a standard airbrush thread on mine and seems to be on most of these compressors..
@@ex0ne dang.. mine have non standard thread. Thanks anyway
According to a friend of mine who lived in China many years, the Chinese phrase for quality translates "The defects are not to many"!
I mean, that first one was literally advertised as an aquarium decoration, what were you EXPECTING?
I got scammed on a cheap pin drill lol
You and me alfred, you and me
Love you squidmar. I got a raffle ticket for the titans, fingers crossed!
To clean the airbrush wit the tiny hole you could use pipe cleaners.
Emil immediately putting the crappy brushes into his mouth to try and get the tip sharper. 😂💯 that painter life.
You bought Railroad trees. They're for building terrain for a model railroad - by drilling tiny holes into the "ground" thus, no stand. (They're still not the greatest, but for what the ad said, they're not bad, and it's not accurate/fair to judge based on the lack of a stand.)
Technically, a fragrance diffuser IS a humidifier because it's putting moisture into the air. Just not much... If your room is about a square foot, it could perhaps make it humid.
give the editor a raise! great video guys! Squidmar for life!
That is some serious savage action licking up those trees 😅
Thank you! As a beginner I had one of those airbrushes and always thought it couldn't be that hard! It gave me lots of pain to clean, until the needle bent and I lost some spring
I feel kind of sad seeing Lukas paint with triple and quadruple tips and still paint better than I did on my “masterpiece”. 😂
Pretty sure those trees were for model trains, unless they were marked as 32mm scale. Used to see those things in the local hobby store, you'd jam them into foam board and the job was done
I like how the 2nd part comes in and the guy on the left give the guy on the right his tshirt 🤣
The only warhammer scam i fell for, was Wargaming Tournaments and their terrain offers.
Payed back in april, but never received any items. Only excuses and "will be with you shortly".
100 bucks down the drain...
Those cheap trees would actually be really good for 15mm or 6mm gaming. I have a load of cheap Chinese trees for my 15mm games, a quick dusting of less garish flock and a nice base and they’re fantastic table-fillers. I’d give them 7 out of 10.
honestly, cheap ass brushes are good enough, just have one good brush. the disqualifying factor to a brush is if it loses hairs regularly.
If it loses form etc, it's not a bad thing, you paid f all for it, what it does become is a tool for a different purpose, an oppertunity.
Some aquarium models work really well as terrain, but the majority are garbage. It's best to head down to the pet store and take a look at stuff in the flesh so to speak.
Those ultrasonic humidifiers will just end up being a dust tosser. If you have hard water, you'll have a layer of calcium/magnesium dust over everything in the studio/apt. Don't get any humidifier without a water filter.
The aquarium thing isn’t a scam…it’s meant to be put in fish aquariums for decoration. It’s just tagged with the wrong things to make it seem like terrain
I took an airbrush class and an airbrush should always shoot air. He called it air always on. Helps prevent tip clog
I've ordered a couple of cheap airbrushes now. What you need to know as a consumer is that the quality control is wildly inconsistent, and sometimes (like with Lukas' model) they are difficult to clean properly.
If you get free returns from the store you're using, I'd highly recommend them, but otherwise beware.
u should do 5 people try to paint a mini at the same time
This was fun. Thank you!
I thought they were going to get knock-off Warhammer minis off Wish.
Great fun for a few dollars guys, my fish says can he have the "terrain?" lol. :>)
I got some of those brushes a while ago, they aren’t amazing but they do the job quite nicely
LMAO not the grindr callout
This is kind of a scam, because I was expecting it was warhammer miniatures or something.
A few weeks later and Lukas is now wearing Emil's shirt and is now the Squidmar
rip
Goteeeem with that Grinder joke, haha
You look iconic together, like Batman and Robin, but better.
Making me proper chuckle
That brief moment of Susumi Hirasawa. I never knew you were a Berserk fan!
I got some good stuff from wish… some base brushes, diorama leaves, and the BLACK pin vice…. And mine was black
Try the orange airbrush on the USB compressor as well as a good one.
Lol, I use those blue stemmed brushes and the hand drill with the black handle. They both get the job done, especially for that price.
Should make a diorama start to finish using what was bought in this video.
This was so much fun🎉😂
Dude, I got the pin drill they showed in the advertisement at a local woodworking store, it works great.
Just backed the paths of sona on kickstarter! Painting the minis after I read it! Can’t wait, but prepared to wait! Lol
