Ok I know this an older video. Soooooo.....
I am from South Louisiana on the coast and have been DRYING shrimp for over 35 years. I boil mine in salty salty water and dry them them on 3 foot by 5 foot screens sorta like window screens to keep the skeeters out the house.
Down here we catch a type of shrimp called a Seabob. They are a small variety of shrimp and get thick in shallow waters of southwest Louisiana.
We dry seabobs, brownies/brown shrimp and white shrimp. Which ever is available at the time. Seabobs go from 60 to the pound to 140 to the pound. I boil my shrimp whole, head and all.
When I dry on my screens I let them dry for 2 days in the sun. Depends on the humidity and the heat of the day. The heavy salt water keeps the flies and bugs off. We use another screen on top to make sure that no flies get on them though.
Then I put the dried shrimp in a crawfish/onion sack and beat them on brick wall. The heads and shells fall right out of the sack and pure shrimp meat is left in the sack.
I will be doing a batch pretty soon so if ya'll want please subscribe to my channel and stay tuned..
My channel is about gardening mostly and we have a few cooking vids also. A few strays here and there too..
Looking forward to seeing ya'll on you tube...............

Do I have to peel the shrimp before I boil them to put in dehydrator? Or, do I boil with peeling and dehydrate with the peeling? Should I season the water to boil in, with garlic, shrimp boil or tony chacheres?

If I add some salt into the water where I cook the shrimp will that make the shrimp last longer & taste better after dehydration.

happymusics Shrimp is naturally saltwater unless they are farm raised prawns. I don't think salt would help but can't say for sure.

it is hysterical all of you on here teaching "survival" techniques and showing what you have stashed away. meanwhile, the scavengers and mercenary types are making notes of what you got and where you are to take advantage of what you have. If you going to survive Armageddon, then you going to have to be smarter about it. It will suck to survive the big boom to be knocked off by an opportunistic and have your effort go for naught.
