  • In this video I am showing you on how to make dried shrimp. I am using 1.5 lbs fresh shrimp just to show you the step of the recipe of how I made mine.
    At the drying method I’m combined my previous boiled of 5 pounds to it that’s why you see more in this video. But just focus on the 1.5 pounds of fresh shrimp that I have left over and decided to make this video.
    The result from making just 1.5 pound of fresh shrimp is equal to 3 ounce of dried shrimp.
    Take about 5 to 6 pounds of fresh shrimp to make 1 pound of dried shrimp. I appreciated if anyone that is wanting to buy not to negotiate my price because as you can see this is time consuming and take a lot of patience to make this. There is no secret in making good dried shrimp. Just put the time into it and be patience. Good Luck
    Here is what you need
    1.5 pound of fresh shrimp
    (Fresh shrimp have sweet taste to it)
    You can use the frozen shrimps too but the taste will not be like the fresh one.
    1.5 Tablespoon of Sea Salt
    Salt is 1 Tablespoon per pound of shrimp
    4-5 cups of water ( depend on your shrimp size)
    Electric dehydrator or flat surface to sun dry the shrimp if you choose to sun dry it.
    Rice empty bag or any sack
    Big stick to break the shell

    Is it possible to peel them first then dehydrate? Seems alot easier. I'm from the Texas Coast and I can peel a fresh shrimp very quickly, like two seconds...

      Christopher Rodriguez actually no because the taste also came from the shell. It also help to hold some moisture in when you make it with shell .

    I did not see you devein them?

    • @Thearaspicykitchen
      @Thearaspicykitchen  Год назад

      We don’t have to devein them once it’s dry off it’s automatically come out with shell but if it stuck use safety pin to take out some . We made thousand of pound in the machine to sell no time to devein one by one like that.

    Very nice video , some questions i have. Why to dehydrate the shrimps and put them in the freezer and dont put them in the freezer whithout dehydrate them and how much time in the dehydrator before peeling and in what temperature needed?

    • @Thearaspicykitchen
      @Thearaspicykitchen  5 лет назад +1

      mykonosbatman there are a certain food we need to use dried shrimp or we eat as a snack “ why do we eat beef jerky” same as shrimp why do we make this into dry and keep in the freezer? Because it’s good as a snack or to certain food for asian cuisine. Keep in freezer for crispiness. The time we dehydrating is as long it’s shrink and shell easy to peel off because shrimp already cook. Sun dry don’t need certain temperatures but dehydrated machine always came with 160 Fahrenheit 70 celsius or 180 Fahrenheit 82 Celsius. Watch the whole video for better understanding. Google on fresh shrimp or dry shrimp for more information. Thanks for watching

    Could you please let me know What temperature and how many hours did you set it for the dehydrator? I really want to make this 😃

    • @Thearaspicykitchen
      @Thearaspicykitchen  4 года назад

      PhatChickTV dehydration time is depend on your shrimp dryness. And the temperature set to the lowest as possible . Manufacturers usually set at 170 already . You just wait to see when it dry the shell should be crack easily

    • @Thearaspicykitchen

      Hoàng Nguyễn yes full 10 minute so the salted can get in. Remember this is for dried shrimps. For fresh shrimp to eat you only cook less than a minute
