I'm still running my 02 Silverado ext cab long bed Z71 4x4. Paint, body and interior are in great shape. Engine was leaking oil at the rear main seal and I had low oil pressure. It has 348k miles on the original motor and transmission. I was considering getting rid of it but with the current prices of new and used cars, I thought it might be worth it to get the work done. 250k of the miles came in a 3 year period between 2017-2019, and are mostly highway, so I figured the motor was still good. I decided to spend the money and get the rear seal replaced and had the oil pump replaced at the same time. WOW am I glad that I did. It runs so good with 348k on it that it's scary. Even the GM lifter tap is gone after it warms up. FIX EM, DON'T SELL EM. Screw the dealers and these crazy prices.

Bought my 2008 single cab 4.3V6 brand new, transmission still shifts smoothly engine is still smooth and quiet. Have fixed or replaced small things had defective coolant line replaced engine coolant sensor, replaced valve vent solenoid as well as gas cap and thermostat but that's about it, absolutely no mechanical issues. Use it as my daily and will keep it till the wheels fall off...great truck.
I test drove a 2013 Silverado with the 4.8L V8. Drove very smooth. What stopped me from buying it was the fact that tailgate wouldn't shut, and interior trims were falling about. It was like $18k with 75k on it. Ended up with a '17 Ram with the 3.6 for $22k and 98k last year as it had double the gears, 3 horsepower more, and the Chevy said 12mpg above odometer and my Ram gets 18-20mpg.
I own a 13’ 1500 LT Crew Cab and I must say it’s the best all around truck. Super reliable it’s ridiculous. 115k and pulls like new, interior is all leather and in great shape and it’s all black but tastefully done. Wish i got 4x4 only “complaint”

When I tuned my truck I picked the most aggressive tune that you can choose in the menu and I also modified other parameter like AFM and idle speed. It made a big difference in how the truck performs. Thanks for watching my video. 👍
As far as the shifting issue did the truck ever bog out on hills till you floored it anf also when you slam the gas anf it shifts at high rpms did it ever like jump forward when it would shift
I bought a week ago a 2013 4x2 with only 109K miles, looks, and ride like new. I also dislike the fuel system management, what I do is, I drive the truck in M (manual) 5th gear and the system doesn't kick in, by doing that, M-5TH gear, is always on V8 mode and feels like a different truck all together.
2007 Silverado 4 door. Love the truck but the back doors locks are always malfunctioning. The back ones haven’t been open for a year. The front ones have messed up too but not in awhile.
Hey brother if you want better throttle response more than what you already have and a slight tweak and Power add a throttle body spacer. And yes they make a noticeable difference
I have a 2013 LT. The afm malfunctioned at 129000 mi. So I decided to pull the whole engine down for inspection. I deleted the afm(new cam, performance lifters, valley cover). The main and rod bearings looked bran new. The cylinders still had cross hatch in them. The o ly thing questionable was the oiler rings were carbon coated pretty bad. So I re-ringed it. Freshened up the the crosshatch, new bearings all around(even though it didn't need them). All new seals and gaskets. Timing gears and chain were in great shape. 👍 all in all, it was in pretty good shape for me using it to pull 7500 lbs most weekends of the summer as well as wheel it mildly. I expected it to be more worn than it was. I put a big trans cooler on it which made night and day difference with trans temp. A 2 5" leveling kit. I've had it for 4 years with no other trouble. So other than the afm, the engine can handle regular mild abuse in my opinion. 👍👍 It's the best half ton truck I've ever had. I like it so much that I've decided it's my keeper truck. I put a 17500 lb winch on it last week and plan to give it 6" or so of lift next fall.
Awesome! Mine is at 118000 right now and it’s nice knowing that these engines hold up well. My only real problem with it right now is I have a pinion bearing going out.
Also if you add a throttle response controller the Active fuel management system isn’t noticeable. Never bothered me i just make sure the oil has dexos and it’s been just fine.

@@dfoutdoors3623 The Vortec Max is the 6.0L motor and heavier duty transmission from the 2500HD, on the 1500 chassis. It has a slightly higher end suspension and tow package. Awesome! Sounds like a great ride. I have my afm disabled with a tuner, so no worries there.

O and take the gauges out the screw behind the gauges on the top left that holds the dash on. Part of the harness gets cut on the scew. All 3 trucks I had did that to. If it helps yall
Have you any videos
I put the Rough Country 2" leveling kit on my 2011 Silverado Z71 and it made a world of difference in how the truck looks and feels. I also have a Cherry Bomb Glasspack which gives it a good sound, but not too loud
I bought the leveling struts from rc. Running 285 70 17. Made a big difference in looks. Also put the rc intake on for kicks.
Giddy up! Now getter tuned!!!
Bought a 2009 Silverado crew cab paid cash for it 14k loving it a lot

The flowmaster 40 series has a nice deep sound , stay away from the super 10 it’s lauder but more for a sport car .

I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado, it’s a great truck ! I have 98000 miles . It has a 6.2 liter engine and I have never had a problem with it !
Nice! Having the 6.2 sounds nice seems like it would have a lot more power
The 6.2 didnt have afm. Good choice
2011 Sierra z71 all terrain
Only drive in M 5
78k miles optioned out
Perfect
Nice! I used to drive in m5 all the time to keep afm/dod off. Then I got a tuner and disabled it altogether.
Maybe add a link to the tuner you installed. Just bought a 07 with a 4.8. Seems really nice so far only had the truck 4 days.

This is the one I bought. They’re kinda pricey, but they have a lot of versatility and are easy to use.
Best thing to do is to buy the chip that keeps the engine running on all 8 cylinders all the time, so you don't ruin the lifters.
I just use a tuner to disable it 👍
I got a 08 and I like it alot.
I recommend the 4.8 in that generation
Yup a reliable non afm engine
I bought a week ago a 2013 4x2 with only 109K miles, looks, and ride like new. I also dislike the fuel system management, what I do is, I drive the truck in M (manual) 5th gear and the system doesn't kick in, by doing that, M-5TH gear, is always on V8 mode and feels like a different truck all together.
Delete the AFM/DFM on the 5.3s by switching the intakes with a 4.8 of the same year. You won't have ANY issues with lifter failure.
2007 Silverado 4 door. Love the truck but the back doors locks are always malfunctioning. The back ones haven’t been open for a year. The front ones have messed up too but not in awhile.
I’m looking to buy a 13 right now
Hey brother if you want better throttle response more than what you already have and a slight tweak and Power add a throttle body spacer. And yes they make a noticeable difference
In general most people don’t think they do much, but I’ve heard a lot of guys say they make a difference in these trucks. What spacer are you running?
Good Truck I changed all relays and got even better
Changed all your relays for what purpose? Just curious
I have the same truck. Those are not stock tires, but the wheels are. Bought it new and now has 121,000 miles.
Also if you add a throttle response controller the Active fuel management system isn’t noticeable. Never bothered me i just make sure the oil has dexos and it’s been just fine.
Just bought a 2010 crew cab LT 5.3 130 k miles for 4 grand from

I bought a 2009 WT 4x4 model just over 7 months ago. I haven’t even put 10 000kms on it. (Bought at 233kms it’s at 240kms). Worst purchase ever. The front end has been nothing but problems. Leaks just about everything. Brakes failed needed new master and booster. Maybe it’s a lemon but something to look out for
6 or 8 cyl?
Maybe a flowmaster 50?
Ya fix the wire in the wire harness that goes from in the truck to the out side and your good. Had 3 and the same thing on every one. Makes different things work not work. You fix that and you're golden. But I'm crazy lol
What wire? Where is it located?
@@dfoutdoors3623 the harness that comes in the trunk under the dash you may have to poke around, I had 3 different trucks 3 different wires. And right under dash by the parking brake. There is a yellow plug with 4 wires, the plug end going up start moving it around as you drive 2 different trucks. One off the 4 wires was broken on the inside. After I moved it around my truck started cutting in and out. I found a bad brown wire. And take the instrument panel out. And they is screws behind it there's on on the top left remove it, because the wires go over it and starts rubbing it.

Good video! Can you do a video on your Diablo tuner.
I've got the same truck same color and everything. 80k miles and rust on the wheel well so looks like some upgrades myself. Will be taking the factory air cleaner out. If you could send me links for the chip and k&n that would be great.
Any update on the truck? Mileage, needed repairs?
Glad you asked. It’s been a heck of a year… lot of life happened and I haven’t been able to upload as much as I should. I’m gonna try to make an update video in the near future. I’ve added a few mods, done some minor repairs (and a major one 😭). Stay tuned!
@@dfoutdoors3623 Completely understand my man! It has been a very challenging year for me too! I'm looking to pick up a 2008 Vortec Max 1500 tomorrow, and watched some of your vids for ideas. I'm considering doing some videos of my truck too. Looking forward for more from you man!
What exactly is the “max vortec”? I’ve seen it on a few trucks, but I don’t know what makes it different from a regular vortec 🤷♂️
@@dfoutdoors3623 The Vortec Max is the 6.0L motor and heavier duty transmission from the 2500HD, on the 1500 chassis. It has a slightly higher end suspension and tow package. The advantage was more towing capacity, with the smoother ride of the 1500. The one I'm getting is an LT, with the Z71 package.
Fix that wire and all the clunking noise and crazy shifting will stop. The hole that the harness goes through to the out side of the truck slowly cuts the wires because off sharp edges.
I’m intrigued. What wire are you taking about?

I got the kind that goes on the bottom of the strut from American truck for the last 6 years with no problem. 😎
Had any major repairs or issues from it?
You must be trying to keep the inside clean for the next guy right??
Where’d you get the seat covers and are they comfy?
I just bought them off of Amazon. They don’t really add or detract from the comfort of the seat itself. I just really like them for their durability and protection.
There are a lot of different seat configurations to choose from when ordering so it’s important to select the right ones.
I just ordered a Rough Country neoprene set for my 2013 1500. Couple hundred cheaper than Wet Okole or other top brands
@@paulparks4780 Nice! Seat covers are a must for me. Even if you don’t use your truck for work, it’s nice knowing your seats are protected.
Using these 93 octane tune requires you to actually use 93 octane premium gas? Or does it work also with regular but give a better performance tune?
How’s the fuel economy?
Do you have the death wobble over 60mph?
Should I buy a 2011 Chevy Silverado lt great shape just wasnt sure how long this truck will last me
I think they are really good trucks and can even be great trucks with a few minor modifications like getting a tuner to add horsepower etc. as with buying any used vehicle i strongly recommend having a qualified mechanic give it a thorough inspection. It’s always nice to see the service records from the previous owner too.
@@dfoutdoors3623 definetly it’s super clean like no rust seems to be really well taken care of has a 7 inch lift nice tires hard to find a truck with low miles or cheap
I have a 11 LT extended cab, 5.3L, put on front struts and ball joints @ 150,000 miles costs $500 did it myself. Recall on airbag. Beware the shift cable comes off when the bushing gets bad, mine came off when I was putting it in park except the transmission was still in reverse. Be safe check that it's in park, won't start until transmission is in park. I do like the truck, runs and shifts great.
Save your money for transmission rebuild. It will most likely need it.

And save up for a paint job. I have 2011 extended cab Z71 4x4 & the paint is flying off the cab. I'm pissed! Buy a Toyota & save yourself some grief. Chevy needs to find themselves a new road!
I’m thinking of getting almost an identical truck - how does it tow? I would be using it for boat and RV towing.
I don’t do much towing other than a tool trailer for work. It pulls that trailer well, but I can’t really speak about boat/RV towing. My dad has an identical truck to mine, but his came with a factory installed trailer brake controller that he says really helps with heavier loads.
how do you keep the afs from causing damage?
I have afm disabled with my tuner. It keeps it in v8 mode all the time.
@@dfoutdoors3623 was the tune hard to install?
@@draperwebb1770 no, it’s a handheld device that plugs into the obd2 port and has a lot of cool functions. Different tunes to choose from and parameters to customize. My tuner is a Diablo sport intune i3.
