Our takeaway lesson:
When someone asks a question, just answer it. If it doesn't make sense to them, they'll ask the next question. If they just judge you for no reason, don't explain, don't complain. If the world wants to know, the truth will come out somehow. Johnny Depp's method works. The world isn't stupid. If things don't add up, we will figure it out eventually, even if we usually have other priorities. Nuff said.

That's what I was thinking. I feel sorry for them. It's painfully obvious that they must've been abused as children in some way. When Amber called Johnny a baby for not being capable of taking a hit like she did ... you know what she probably went through as a child (trying to "toughen up" or even being first to attack so the expected rejection won't hurt so much - becomes second nature as an adult). You can make deals with officials to be witnesses. Like if they need you as a witness but you have incriminating evidence, you can sign deals that grant you immunity for your testimony. But I can’t say if that’s the case here. Drug abuse is more and more common unfortunately and I’m not sure you can simply arrest someone for admitting they have done it in the past.

Yep, my husband and I learned that the hard way-with family, employees, friends, and even neighbors. I cut ties with my family completely in large part because of it and he doesn't bother much with his for the same reason. This kind of thing profoundly changes an individual and how one perceives people in general. It's sad.
I don’t believe for one second that Johnny hit Amber’s sister. More often than not if someone is an abuser, they stick with that one person they are abusing, they don’t want it to be made known so they don’t go around just hitting anyone that’s in their way.
Especially given the fact that the guy whose job it was to keep tabs on every person bodily and any threats said she wasn’t even between them.
His bodyguards testified to Amber hitting the sister in the back then punching Johnny. That is how she got the one bruise on her arm. Body guard had to restrain her while the other body guard removed Johnny from the situation.
Yeah, it's so over the top. From his previous partners testifying in his defense to just beating multiple people up? It'd be easier to believe that he had jealousy towards Amber and their relationship brought up the worst in him, but also her sister? Who else, did he hit their granny with baseball bat?

I think it's much darker than just them being terrified of her. There is something about the dynamics of her family which suggests, at least to me, that there could be a component of sexual abuse by the father and in the very least, some recognition of that fact by the mother, further implying she allowed it to continue.
In any case though, if the girls were physically abused by their father as stated in the testimony, it is likely the mother was also smacked around.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. A lady I worked with in a company felt sympathy for this guy who just started working there. He just got out of jail for domestic abuse against his girlfriend. I didn’t understand why she felt bad for him being so useless, her cousin who worked there too also seemed to always try to help him out. One day I asked her why she feels sorry for a asshole who hits women. She said “ we grew up in a family where men always hit the women so i guess we are used to it” this really blew my mind, because I thought it would be the opposite. I’m 100% on johnnys side, just wanted to say that it’s normal for people who grew up with violence to think violence is normal or acceptable.

It really doesn’t make sense. Amber is so wrong, as in hard-wired, evil wrong. Hearing her testify has set of every alarm that tells me to run away, and her manipulations remind me of my ex. She is lying, about all of it. Her florid, poorly-acted accounts of the times he abused her are sickening, because she’s so obviously dramatizing it, making it up, and just chewing the scenery into shreds.
I grew up with an exceptional amount of trauma, and the way I talk about it is nothing like Amber’s melodramatic re-enactments. You don’t want to relive that stuff. You use only as many words as you have to, and you find ways to dissociate yourself from the event, even as you try to describe it. You may even use self-deprecating humor, or black humor, to speak of it, just to take a little of the pain out of it. Amber is lying.
