Forgot to mention; It's pretty impressive to watch you diagnose problems and fix them on equipment that either belongs in a HVAC museum, a junk yard, or both. No way these next gen HVAC techs can do what old school guys like you can do Joe... no way.

Well it seems water tight, but why isn't it connected to water supply? Did they scavenge it for a plumbing repair? I don't know if I'd have left it that way.

Gotta love those that try to flip the house but neglect everything that actually makes the house a home (heat)

I have a LAARS AF II 150, there is no blinking or solid green light. The Furnace is a water/steam piped system. I have attempted to unthaw the main line from the outside tank. The line runs from the tank down into the ground, re-emerging from the ground and heads into the house where the heater is located. We have been without heat since Thursday. I have tried to do my own troubleshooting but from what I can tell there is no oil flow to the heater even though the lines have been thawed using a 500 watt flood lamp and boiling water over all exposed lines. What is your suggestion. A service call is still 10 days out. I am in southwest Ohio. Thank you.

Seen worse still running. Need repairs right enough, like a filling loop and thermostats and a new zone valve, but I bet that boiler will outlast what goes in to replace it.
On the other hand, it is getting on a bit and maybe not too efficient!
If it were my own, I would keep it and do the work required. Replace it in 5 to 10 years, or when something serious goes, after all it is in the basement.
I have to say that I don't know how good or otherwise these boilers are, or otherwise!
Don't get them over here :-)
