And then to not get the follow-up only to find out why a day later... bruh... the fact that DMZ was cancelled... Vanguard owns 2.2 million shares in Ubisoft (majority shareholder). There is currently no future where Ubisoft gets better. They do not make games for passion of the art, they make games to maximize and protect the assets of their investors.
Here is what we can reasonably expect from Ubisoft in the near future (~7-10 years):
    1.) Zero innovation
    2.) Chasing trends
3.) DEI shoved down your throat
    4.) Predatory monetization
Ubisoft does not see us as valued customers that they want to provide a unique experience to. They see us as bundles of cash and their goal is to extract as much cash from us as possible.

I actually got invited to the Heartlands tests but never bothered because I wasn't interested in what looked like mobile F2P Division. I'm a big fan of many of the IPs in Ubisoft's wheelhouse to the point where I still defend some of their more middling entries (like Breakpoint, which I maintain sucked ass at launch but after the Ghost Update actually became pretty goddamn awesome) and even I didn't want them wasting time and effort on little side-projects like Heartlands.
Ubisoft's big hitters - especially the Tom Clancy games - just are not suited for the F2P and middle-ware treatment. They only really work when they get the big AAA treatment because that is what the scope and nature of their universes demands.
I really hope The Division 3 is good though; I personally hold that both Division games are actually really great and probably the best versions of their genre/style game, beating even Destiny, Borderlands, Warframe etc.
EDIT: I played in both a Closed Test and the Open Test for XDefiant - its gonna flop. It looks and sounds like a mobile game, the gunplay is NOT amazing at all (it absolutely cannot compete with CoD, Battlefield or even other Ubi shooters) and their main selling point of "No SBMM" is gonna backfire REAL fast when players learn exactly what they means through experience.

The biggest problem with Ubisoft isn't even the fact that they prioritized bullshit, it was they demonstrated ABSOLUTELY no understanding of what the market even wanted in regards to bullshit. They just made projects seemingly on a whim and prayed an audience would form around the creation of something they didn't know they'd want.
For starters, The Division was one of (if not literally) the first instance of an extraction shooter being developed in a mainstream game. Instead of capitalizing off that and bringing survival/DZ to a more accessible format, we got Heartland which tried to do so many things that even TD fans weren't asking for.
Even the ghost recon game that got for hated could have pulled a complete 180 had one person said embrace the series roots and make grey zone warfare instead of just another BR. Ubi has so much potential if they actually invested in their niches instead of trying to find another golden goose because they're tired of taking care of their current ones.

Like they reached a point where the games cant really ever be anything too exciting or someone will get fired.
"wooh look at us! Another game! Please buy us we really tried and need the money"
Not much enthusiasm in their products.
And why did it feel like the assassin's creed games started to more become a commentary on the work culture at ubisoft in general? Why would they make games about you just being a drone at a company who just plays the games just so they can sell them?

What surprises me is that The Division never got a stand alone Battle Royale mode. The Survival DLC with the titular mode was really the first Battle Royale I think we saw in the gaming space, and the atmosphere and objective for it was done so well. Your helo crashes trying to look for a lead on anti-virals against the Green Poison, injuring you via a cut which gets infected via sepsis. You have to then scavenge through out the night through a very bad blizzard while trying to make your way to the Dark Zone to extract with loot and survive, using resources to make abilities that you usually just had access to in the game like the healing box, launcher, turret, etc. and/or armor, weapons, medicine to extend your lifespan. It had a PVE version with no combat against players, and a version with PvP combat added. If they had made this a F2P title as an expanded experience they'd have a big hit right about now.

i have a co-worker who was an alpha and beta tester for heartland. he said the experience was pretty boring and bland with not much going for it. he said in the alpha there were like 5 missions to do all in the one city location and in the beta it doubled to 10 missions but again it was all focused in the one city. his exact words were "you go to the hub, buy ammo and anything you'll need for the mission you're going to go on, go out to the city and pick up as many boxes or whatever you could, call for extraction, return to the hub, sell what you got and repeat the process all over again." he said it was a very boring grind fest experience and that it was honestly for the best that they canceled heartland because the overall feeling was dull and lackluster for everything you were doing or lack thereof. his idea is that they are going to focus more on the division 2 with either more updates and content releases, or they are pushing all of their resources to other games like the new assassins creed game and potentially other large scale IP's. i don't know personally but he has been a alpha/beta tester for Ubisoft for YEARS now and said this was not a surprise for anyone in the community who was involved with testing.

(unconfirmed but...) Heartland was done and ready for shipment...considering the game wouldn't have needed as much red tape to get through for it to drop on Ubisoft's own launcher, Ubisoft Connect, Heartland could have been released there at nearly any time in the very near future and it also only really needed to pass the certification of PS, XB and Steam to be able to be released on those platforms; which as long as the game was in a healthy, playable state (which recent Beta testers attest it was), the mentioned platforms surely would have given certification happily.
Also, it was expected for a specific release date to be announced at Ubisoft Forward as well to finally be released late Summer/early Fall 2024. As for Rainbow 6...the Rainbow 6 mentioned in association with Red Storm's, Heartland's team, displacement is the upcoming Rainbow 6 *Mobile* game; not the established Rainbow 6 Siege. Ubi killed Heartland to transfer investments and Red Storm's highly creative talents to xDefiant and R6Mobile in an attempt to compete with CoD and other big name e-sport games. If you notice, Heartland was still on track for release...until xDefiant initially did very well on Steam & YT with it's mock tournament literally the day before the earnings report released (which could have been edited that very morning after the xDefiant tournament before releasing).
As for The Division 3: Red Storm and other resources from other studios of Heartland are not (at least at this time) being diverted to TD3 - which probably isn't even actually in solid development (it maybe be in very early development like site scouting and/or whiteboard conceptualizing but not full studio development yet) until the release of Star Wars Outlaws because The Division 3's Executive Producer, Julian Gerighty, remains Outlaws' Creative Director until Outlaws releases later this year.
As for Heartland... The community, as a whole, over multiple medias (Twitter/X, TikTok, Facebook, Reddit, ect) have been vocally expressing their heartbreak and frustration at the game's apparent demise to the point that, at least, 2 community members had (unbeknown to each other at first) began petitions on Change*org in an attempt to convince Ubisoft to reconsider it's choice. One petition is currently sitting at 201 signatures and the other at 261 signatures - for a current total of 462 autographs in support for Heartland. In the petitions' comments, many individuals even stating plainly that, should Ubisoft be so inclined, they would happily pay a respectable price for the game over it's previously announced "free-to-play" status if it would reignite investor interest and see the game's release come to fruition.
If you and your community would willing to aid The Division community in this quest, I won't be brash and disrespectful by posting the links here without permission but I'll be very happy to provide links to each petition that you could then pass along to your YT community.
(Sorry for the lengthy post. But, thank you for your time and for making this video in support of Heartland)

I'm not excited or have any trust in the Splinter Cell remake, what made Ironside soo great as Sam Fisher is that he had a sophisticated sense of dry humour and knew how to intertwine human emotion with upright professionalism.
Ubisoft along with the Triple-A industry have no grasp on such things, the closest they got is making Sam being as bland as cardboard oatmeal in Blacklist and this super-forced melodrama half-way through the game of how "the mission always comes first", compare that to the drama of how Sam begrudgingly (and optionally) kills Dahlia Tal, or one of he's many enemy interrogations.

And honestly there was something eerie about Central Park not being explorable. The adjacent areas were littered with countless body bags. If I remember right in the Dark Zones even? Me imagining those to be the worst for people in a lore-sense but then seeing slight glimpses of the horror that Central Park according to lore snippets must have been, turned into the most massive of mass graves... there was something powerful about that without it being shown outright. • @Unknown_Genius
      @Unknown_Genius 23 дня назад

      pretty much.
their main issue is that each of them got their own mechanics, but either the devs didn't have time to build the game around them, didn't really have any ideas what to do or had been scared that anything more is too complex for the average user and that it'd hurt sales and ultimately cost them their job.
So much potential and yet so often seeing what they could've done and didn't do, weirdest part is if you see a lot of the stuff being in place and yet it's never really utilized, like e.g. foliage giving extremely good concealment in ghost recon breakpoint, the AI just is so dumbed down that there's no use for it at all. Which really hurts with ghost recon as it's in its best state it has ever been it but yet most of the time you just wander around wondering what could've been.
