Another thing with the IPL vs the BBL is that Australian grounds tend to be larger, meaning its harder to hit boundaries.
Jarrod, could we get more distinct colours when you use a graph of this sort? The differences between the BBL and PSL aren't easily noticeable here, which would be understandable in a larger data set but this only has six sets. The BBL could have been yellow to make it clearer and stick with the region's local colour theme. Thanks for all the top quality analysis.

One of the reasons i feel world cups have lesser average is because we have some national teams much weaker than the rest, unlike leagues where they are assembled in a way that any team can beat anyone.
Hence possibility of one sided matches are more in world cups. Which can lead to low scores.

The slow scoring nature of the world cup gives me hope for Pakistan and India as they are the most anchory of the teams.

Leagues don’t have the knockout format whereas the World Cup does. The fear of getting knocked out of the tournament is likely the main reason world cups are slow scoring.
