Chronic Inflammation | Top 5 Causes of Inflammation in your Body- Thomas DeLauer
    AGEs:
Many of the foods on the SAD diet contain high levels of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), or glycotoxins. AGEs are formed through a nonenzymatic reaction between reducing sugars and free amino groups of proteins, lipids, or nucleic acids - in other words, they’re harmful compounds created when sugar reacts with proteins or lipids (fats) in a process called glycation. The rise in processed food sector shows that more and more people are diverging towards modern processed foods. As modern diets are largely heat processed, they are more prone to contain high levels of AGEs. The pathologic effects of AGEs are related to their ability to promote oxidative stress and inflammation by binding with cell surface receptors or cross-linking with body proteins, altering their structure and function.
    Obesity:
Fat-cell-secreted hormones bind to specific receptors on themselves (autocrine secretion), as well as to receptors on adjacent inflammatory cells, macrophages, (paracrine secretion) that normally infiltrate fatty (adipose) tissue. The more fat a fat cell contains, the more active it is in paracrine secretion - the higher the fat content of adipose tissue, the more macrophages (inflammatory cells) take up residence there. Once activated, the macrophages, in turn, secrete additional hormones, cytokines (TNF alpha, IL-6, etc.), which stimulate the immune system, triggering an inflammatory reaction that can adversely affect tissues throughout the body.
    Gut Health (Bacterial Imbalance)
When beneficial bacteria populations decrease in the intestine, “gram-negative” bacteria gain ground. When these bacteria die, they release molecules called endotoxins (lipopolysaccharides), known for their pro-inflammatory action. Chylomicrons are fat transporters responsible for the absorption and transfer of dietary fat and cholesterol from the gut to the blood - LPS bind to chylomicrons and can be carried through the gut wall into the blood. Binding and transport of LPS by chylomicrons is a natural process that helps remove LPS and take it to the liver for detoxification.
    Prolonged Stress:
Prolonged stress results in the prolonged release of cortisol, which works to suppress nonessential-in-an-emergency functions, like your immune response. The hormone also fuels the production of glucose, or blood sugar, boosting energy to the large muscles, while inhibiting insulin production and narrowing arteries, which forces the blood to pump harder to aid our stressor response. Adrenaline is also released, which tells the body to increase heart and respiratory rate, and to expand airways to push more oxygen into muscles - your body also makes glycogen, or stored glucose (sugar), available to power muscles. In addition, stress decreases lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of the immune system. The problem with prolonged stress is that it alters the effectiveness of cortisol to regulate the inflammatory response because it decreases tissue sensitivity to the hormone - in other words, immune cells become insensitive to cortisol's regulatory effect. Since those that are stressed are more insensitive to it, their cells keep producing more and more cortisol, which results in increased transcription of factor nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB), and pro-inflammatory cytokine production.
    Lack of Sleep:
Poor sleep habits are known to cause inflammation - sleep loss induces a systemic, low-grade inflammation characterized by the release of several molecules, including cytokines and acute-phase proteins. Getting less than, or more than, 7-8 hours of sleep per night has been shown to result in increased levels of inflammatory markers in the blood, like C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6)
    Brain Toxins:
Getting ideal amounts of sleep reduces inflammation and restores the brain by flushing out toxins - one of these toxins is a toxic protein called beta-amyloid.

Your videos are very helpful. I have been following your channel since earlier this year. And I have been trying so very hard to stay on a ketogenic diet. But stress really throws everything off. And this past month it has really come to a point that I started hurting and it wouldn't go away. Went to the Dr, and all they did was draw blood because they had no clue as to what was going on. All my labs look great so far except my rhuematoid factor was 56.4 and the normal high is 14. So I have a major inflammatory issue going on. So this is giving me an even bigger push to get myself on track and take control of my stress and my diet. Thank you for the content that you make. I am surly hoping that it will help me out. Because to be honest being 34yrs old and feeling the way I do, sucks right now.

This is great information. I am a 58 yr old man who was involved in a motorcycle/car accident when I was 19. Shattered both fibula and tibia in both legs, a couple ribs, left humerus bone, C3 in my neck, totalled out my right shoulder, and a few other things. Over the years I have been fighting the inflammation pain train by trial and error mostly, I don't like taking the meds for it. I found the drastic ways diet makes me feel years ago, eat the wrong stuff and the next day I feel it. Videos like this help me dial in what works best for me.

Good vid TD, I will just add that some inflammation is necessary in life (such as exercise). It becomes an "issue" whenever you're dealing with chronic stressors that you don't properly recover from. And as a man who works the night shift and also tries to stay active dealing with all the stress that comes with is a "delicate balance" for me. Thanks for the vid. Just another reason to make sure I get adequate sleep and fast whenever I can't hit the gym. DEUCES!!!!

I'm literally sick and and tired of being sick and tired plus constantly injured in someway between gout, trigger finger, tendonopathies, shoulder, strains, stress ulcers, upper respiratory infections.
I eat a pescatarian diet and limit diary plus take joint supplements, but it's still not enough for my active lifestyle and career in nursing.
Thank you for the detailed scientific based videos. Your fasting vid was extremely helpful in my injury recoveries. Looking to seriously implement more science based nutrition so I can recover even faster.

Thomas, I have learned a lot from you and Berg, but I am going to be honest. Sometimes I feel that trying to follow all of your rules and restrictions is going to cause me to be so stressed and overwhelmed that my body is going to be completely drenched in cortisol. For example, you say not to combine carbs with fats or protein...I’m like WTF! Eating goes from being enjoyable to totally frustrating because there’s no way I can consistently follow all of the guidelines. I guess I must find what is best for me personally, like everything else in life. Thanks for your help man, though my brain can only process maybe half of what you say... LoL

I'm thinking he's meaning simple sugars/carbs. Like a baked potato with butter and cream, etc.
Now like a baked potato, asparagus(veggies), and steak. I wouldn't think that insulin spike wouldn't automatically make you store the fat from steak.
Just eat balanced and don't over think. Just don't add all the "junk" and processed stuff to the plate.
      Just my 2 cents.

Thanks so much for the information I had no clue that inflammation was that detrimental to the body. I really got to get myself together and restart my biological clock.

One of your best videos yet!
The impact of inflammation is so far reaching from aging the skin to depression, joint issues, cancer and autoimmune disease.
Maybe you could do a video on 'anti inflammation on a plate' (a what to eat in a day on an anti inflammatory diet) and a video on the hidden offenders for inflammation diet wise
