"In order to save humanity I must destroy it and replace it with human-alien hybrids."
Solid logic there Church.
The Reasonable Extremist who doesn't wanna be cool looking Alien
Yes we agree. We want you to join us. We are good. Join us.
The Reasonable Extremist
Anything, as long as I don’t have external eyes
Fucking hell, why did we even need eyes on the outside, and eyelashes, fucking eyelashes
They are suppose to be keeping shit out of our eyes, instead they just pile up behind mine and I have to inch the eyelash clumps out
The Reasonable Extremist I mean...a portion of humanity existing in a hybrid form is still more than nothing?
Same logic as globalists now. "in order to save humanity we must merge all the existing peoples into one as yet unseen homogenous race"
I feel like the twist about Church was done for shock value and not logic. You look at the story told about him from his time in that hive until now. You get zero impression he wanted to perfect the species or anything else. He poisoned that hive and did everything he could to sabotage them. He did what he had to in order to survive, but he didn't appear to empathize with them on any level. They killed his father and he had to kill his mother to avoid committing additional horrors. And then he took a dead alien out of his own body.
There's no way that guy wanted to perfect them. Extreme measures to annihilate them? Sure that makes sense for his character. But unlocking their potential just seems a totally random character shift.
Alien has always started well and ends stupidly.
That's why there's only 2 good alien movies.
Well on one level he is a scientist, so there's that, but on another level he did more or less go insane and may or may not have literally lost his mind!,
And in losing his mind, the lose of it, may have made him hive mind, remember that he was living with them for ages as well as eating the same 'food' as them as well which would of changed his DNA in some way
@@yani2499 Eh, I fuck with the first 3. The rest are by no means great films, but enjoyable in their own right.
You have a point, but at the same time, you'd be surprised how often people end up becoming the very thing that traumatized them the most.
I think they (Xenomorphs) have some sort of psychic bomb that alters the mind of a being looking at survivors they tend to always have a form of connection of the hive.
Damn. I was just starting to like Church too. I feel him wanting to understand the aliens on a deeper level, but also wanting to find ways to destroy them was a great duality. This just made such a hard turn on what he stands for. Or maybe he really did just lose his mind and never realised it. Stockholm syndrome almost. Shame
Wait, so those plasma suits completely disintegrated the entire bodies of the xenomorphs but left their blood perfectly intact so it could create a literal wave of acid blood...amazing job there, weapons developers xD
Agent Dash I heard liquify not disintegrate. Which is a stupid thing to do with something with acid blood.
I'm going to go on a massive leap that they were intended to liquefy at range, no big chunks of body spewing blood being carried forward as it died or spray from explosive rounds, no corpses to use as cover and get closer.
Then because the numbers were so large and attacks so suicidal the xenomorphs still got close which messed the whole plan up forcing close range liquefying and use of standard weapons.
Well going by the picture of the comic in the video covering it that didn't work, it just made a wave of acid washing over everything.
It said that happened because of numbers, but yeah, I agree.
I know his is old but why don't they use the xenomorph skin as amour? So the acid would hurt them, why dont they eat the xenomorph and multiply if this threat was real, no way they can beat humans
They could make a film of this story arc. If done properly it could be amazing.
Agreed!! 👍👍
alpha jackson It wouldn't be done right, modern media is shit.
@Tube Gold, if you got christopher nolan or david leitch on that shit, it'd be a great film.
This story arc is ten times as captivating as Prometheus and Covenant.
alpha jackson you know they would fuck it up
Loving all of this, please continue dr.church's story
Legacy • i wanna see a vid where Church gets his. Evil, psycho bastard. Makes Dr Frankenstein look like Ben Carson
ya its interesting
After finding those comics online, and checking out wikipedia, it became clear that this was it. There is nothing more to his story.
Valsh; AGH, of course. That sucks.
Valsh really?!
I wonder why it seems that scientists assigned to develop bio-weapons from Aliens always end up infatuated with them and they become really screwed up in the head :/. I was really starting to like Church, thinking his experience with the Xenos would bode his inspiration for wanting to want to learn how to eliminate them and he does do that to a certain extent through his experiments. I guess a good quote for him would be "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
Well said!
Neeko Bre its just a story
Bottle Cap Ink yeah but its an interesting read for sure and really his character made such a hard turn on what people expected from him.
Maybe that's a facet of the alien hivemind? In some of the novels, simply having a hive nearby could influence dreams. Maybe the hivemind is sort of always broadcasting, and thinking about them too hard opens one up to its influence in some way.
there's several theories, one being that the aliens are able to influence human minds (the earth war comics actually touched on the alien queen affecting people's dreams causing them to form cults and such )
another theory is that the company specifically seeks out scientist who ethically flexible, such people are not known for being very sane and it could be that they become infatuated by the alien
there's also the fact that if you spend long enough studying something you can become obsessed with it, this is common in anthropology (going native) and biology (such as primate studies) where the researchers start off copying their subjects to try to understand them then before long they lose themselves in the study.
Dr. Church's story could be concidered canon since there is nothing that would suggest contradiction with oficial alien canon, none that i could think of atleast.
While this particular comic series arch has it's own 'insular' idea of what the hive mind is, and what it's capable of, it doesn't much reflect out to the rest of the canon very well. Dr. Church's story is one of the most compelling, and disturbing for sure, but what implications does it have? In hindsight the xenomorph is supposedly already the 'perfect' organism. So what Church is aiming for I don't know, but it would have to be a very personal vision of biological terror.
@Erik Lerström "Perfection" Is simply an Ideology my old friend
I am a 46 year old pred/alien fan,I work armed security at night and these keep me so entertained. Thank you and keep up the great work guys.🖒😎
Did they pattern the Brad Dourif character in Alien Resurrection after Dr Church? I'm really getting that vibe..
Different hair tho.
Labyrinth was my favorite of the graphic novels, thank you so much for covering this story.
Dr. Church is the most interesting character in my opinion. Definitely my favorite in the series. I also like how he says that it's not personal at the end. Making something personal is such a human thing to do which he would certainly despise.
Because people like you will never let this stuff die, thank you!
This DR church stuff is sooo interesting
I would say that it drove him nuts. When you are used to living in a new environment for a long time, you get institutionalized by it. A similar premise would be Brooks from Shawshank, who was so used to prison life, that he was willing to threaten a man with a knife so he could get his sentence increased. Church is no different, because they needed him alive for the time being and he gotten use to their movements he in a sense psychologically became a Xenomorph, he gave voice to the voiceless. As for humans being the key. Considering that the Deacon and other variations of the Xenomorphs were sprung from human DNA and the Engineer's bio-weapon. It's safe to say that because Xenomorphs are technically related to us we could have some degree of control over them.
Shanethefilmmaker Or, dare i say it, they have control over us.
Dude, these videos on Dr. Church are super interesting. Thanks for the work!
Id love to see a live action version of this. It would be awesome to see Steve Buscemi as Dr Church. Buscemi has that weird thousand yard stare that im sure dr church has (u know, from his amazing hive experience). Awesome video!
Another masterpiece of a video Alien Theory. Absolutely BADASS!
Imagine church meeting yaujta warriors
Ninja Student That'd be epic.
Johnny Smith or engineers and him and droid David would be great partners
@@NinjaStudent-yo5ws I wonder. David would probably kill him for more study.
MrDibara Yeah they Would proabably build some sorta super alien together before one of them tried to back stab the other
The foreshadowing at the beginning where the crew member asked about the rumors that only the expendable were sent to the station made me figure that Crespi was requested and intended for that tank all along. He was intelligent but being from the military and an order taker I wasn't surprised Church won him over so quickly. But if Church had been lying about his relationship with Lennox he might be prone to confabulation and may have been making things up about his experiences along. I missed the bit where McGuinness gave the alien a telepathic order without that serum. Odd that Church didn't appropriate her for those tanks as well.
Fantastic series of videos about Dr. Church (as per usual for this channel). I really loved this comic when I first read it. One of the absolute best of the Alien series comics.
Love how you spread your content to the extended world more efficently I'm loving this keep it up
Your past couple of videos have been fantastic! Great work!
I'm loving these videos about the comics and especially on dr church and his experiments. I enjoy the reading format that your doing. Great job man 😃
Great videos, If you are still interested in finding out more about Dr. Church he was featured in an Alien point and click game. The game is very outdated so I never got around to playing it or watching somebody else play it. But just throwing that information out for you.
Reading this novel absolutely TERRORIZED me as a kid...bloody good story
Man this is fun to watch. Must have more.
Can you imagine what would happen if Church and David 8 met??? It would not end well for humanity
Jake Alter what would happen if the thing and xeno met
Man id love to see that
cfG21 dont think it would be possible to assimilate due to the blood . If 🔥 kills it then certainly acid would as well. A prefect defensive
@@josephlepkowski2383 Id say a face hugger gets on a thing imitation BOOM they're combined then xenos are screwed
*🐄* Perhaps
This is one of the best video series I have ever seen. Everything is well made.
I love this story, it's Awesome that you shared this with everyone that has never seen it before!!!
Brother, I really appreciate and enjoy your analysis on the Alien Universe, I really didn't know how many people love the franchise as much as I do! Instant subscription!
Dude. Love your channel. I often put on an Alien playlist each night and listen as i fall asleep.
Wow just fucking wow really get lost in this shit when delivered so smoothly, fully enjoyed hoping for more.
Oh god. You are scratching an itch I didn't know I had. Literally just at outside for three hours before looking up from my phone. Pipe has long gone out. Great content.
Why are the Xenomorphs considered a perfect species?
Darth Decius I think it'd more to do with their mindset than their actual bodies. They're single minded and entirely focused on the species and ha be no concept of morality.
Because they are adaptable to pretty much any enviroment
being "considered perfect" is not the same as BEING perfect, its just thematic bs like Erik above me said.
They technically were created by an advanced species that made them to be "perfect". They aren't perfect but they're the perfect monster
Just the opinions of a few androids and scientists. Not fact.
Awesome vid, man!
Bro this is amazing. Hell of a voiceover my dude
This is such a great recap. I hadn't read these comics in about 22 years. Probably longer. Reminiscing heavily with these videos. These could be made into movies alongside Ridley's work.
Great Job, keep up the good work. your refer to and utilize along with expanding some of the many stories that came about after Aliens was released in theatres back in 1986.
Love this. Please keep this up.
Love your videos, a great story teller too!
loving these videos on the good doctor Chuuuch!
Dr. Churchs's story rings more like a complete story than the two most recent ALIEN movies (Covenant, Prometheus), which are just the same cat-and-mouse Alien movie we've already seen.
More Dr. Church!!!!!
I remember reading that comic when i was a teenager. Good read. Thank you for reminding me.
Amazing as always
I haven't a clue of the Alien lore, I do know a couple of the movies and games and their lore though this is completely beyond that, yet still, this is quite interesting
I really want to see more of church's' experiments'. They are fascinating!
Is no one going to address that this lady successfully controlled a Xeno with because she was so fed up with its bullshit? That is an extremely important detail right there, and really useful. Inspiring as all hell, too.
Oooh these classic aliens comics always went hard
You need to do audiobooks for aliens :)
Chusk!!! I love the comic sound effects!
I have an Asperger's character with Echotherianthropy, a condiition related to Echolalia and Echopraxia, set in that universe with the echoed species being Xenomorph. He got this way by growing up alongside a 3rd generation xeno from early childhood to adulthood (and still lives with it).
1:18 the face I make when someone says "let's order a pineapple pizza".
McGinnes starting and backing down a zeno was soooo awesome. She was so pissed!!!
Hey Alien Theory, please do Alien comics audio reader with narration.... We the fans demand it :P
Great video. I enjoy your theories and cool voice.
Can you do a video on why the Alien didn't hurt/eat Jones the cat?
Love your vids and this one was good to
Why are humans the most compatible with the Alien species and considered to be the key to perfecting them? Are there not other species (be it from Earth or extraterrestrial) that could be better?
sollabe less that they're most compatible and more that they're most common. The two most common host in the universe (I've seen so far) are humans and yautja, and yautja tend to do the honorable suicide thing when the get face hugged, so, more often than not the most common Xenos you'll find come from human host
Chris Carpenter vegans and gingers. 😂
I personally like the cow / dog alien concept from Alien 3. It opens the potential of the xenomorph species adapting into a much wider array of creatures. Have no scientists honestly bothered to try to use chimps or apes in their xenomorph cultivation programs? it seems like it absolutely should work to produce a physically stronger xeno since the hosts are physically stronger.
sollabe breh Prometheus had humans the final outcome from the engineers... so humans went through to the final and perfect process so..... Humans are prime candidates BUT, there is nothing saying Humans are the only ones compatible... it is just out if all the species
+Ed Lippincott
Once it existed action figures of aliens mixed with gorilla DNA, It also came with a mini comic making it kind of (silly) canon.
The alien 3 movie was a dog, the TRUE COW DNA alien was also made into a comic.
Among other strange mix of alien creatures like snake, queen facehugger and others. God I loved to play with these toys when I was a kid, same my brother.
Its a shame they didn't make more toys of this style cause they believed it was 2 spoopy for children.

Your narration is great!
+Bottle Cap Ink thank you!
Love your videos, these stories were great, and combined would have made for a fantastic Alien film.
I remember reading this story when I was a kid, its wonderfully twisted I'm surprised it was never made into a film.
The back story of the doc always turns my gut!
that was great!!!
As a teenager I found some alien back issues in the comic store and this arc was the first one I started reading.
Ngl shit threw me for a LOOP
Really enjoying all the Dr. Church videos! Are you gonna cover his end? I'm really curious About that.
One of the best alien comics ever
Very creepy story, good video sir.
Wow dr. Church has the perfect story arc for a crazy insane genius. Very very cool. They oughta make a cool spin off movie about him.
Nice video.
My thoughts about this:
DarkHorse comics: "pLoT tWiSt gO brrrrrrr"
I love this do more alien comics
Lol good to see one of my fav comics as a kid being explained. I had one novel that had like this comic series and another 2 wrapped into one book and I don't know what it was called.
I AM THE HIVE!!!
Roberto Santiago I am the senate!
Not yet.
I'm not in the Hive, Skyler. I am the hive!
*we
Thinking about, it xenomorphs are communists.
There is no "I".
We are the hive.
One thing that could kill the xenomorphs is making their water supply alkaline. Their blood is acidic, thus reasoning that their enzymes’ optimal pH is quite low and acidic seeing as it easily burns through many things. By making their water basic, their enzymes denature and almost all of their body processes are shut down.
Holy Shit.... now thats a twist that would make an awesome movie!
This is all so much more interesting than the main movies
NEW VIDEO YASSS
Wait why the actual fuck does this has so many likes? Stop loving me
Well, after reading all the "hate mail", it was a refreshing comment 😏
Love you too babe.
I think they cut some corners on R&D when testing those plasma suits.
Please always post the name of the book or where you can find the story arcs. Its hard as it even with the internet to find reading orders and pull lists for the older titles.
Thank you
Why would Church do this? He swore to eliminate the Xenomorphs. I don't understand how this makes sense for his character.
Swole Pon Hiki His experience with the zeno hive he was in for 2 months have took their toll on him
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_syndrome#Coping_mechanism
He was the Chosen One. He was supposed to destroy the Xenomorphs, not join them.
Sounds to me like his mind was affected by either the slug pool or just exposure. It sounded like his brain was changing physiologically
You pose some intriguing questions. I’d say church was altered on physical, mental, emotional levels but deep, perhaps deep enough that the crossover of DNA memory may have occurred, like you postulate he may now embody the hive & its needs. From my perspective, seeing David alter the xenomorph organism as seen in Prometheus, clearly showed the worst enemy of humans is themselves.
If you are looking into delving into the comics, do stronghold or genocide next. I always loved the themes and ideas these generated within the series.
I got this comic when I was around 13. It was one of most disgusting things that I burried deep in my wardrobe.
Backsplash, yay! My all-time favourite Alien comic :)
Would they be considered a rare find and would it be hard to get your hands on one now?
I want to read all these comics
Please do Rogue!
These videos of church are awesome. I had no idea that story was so incredible. I hope you do more.
this should be a project for Scott.
0:36 The Xeno pulled a Predator move. Ironic.
I love Dr church's lines. He's 2 smart xD
To me...Church wanted everything Crespi had seen and experienced.
Church had, indeed, been assimilated into a hive... however the hive he had been an unwitting part of had no Queen. He had never met a Queen, so his scientific method was incomplete. Crespi had first hand, INTIMATE details from a living, healthy Queen.
Crespi's mind was Church's missing piece.
Dr church is just tryna unlock hivemind for every living organism in the universe
ya ur just reading the comic novel i had. love it as i lost my novel
I forgot about this part of the story. It's as if he's close to making his own black goo
As dr. Church would say "when faced with extinction, any alternative is preferable"
Imagine being in that maze and knowing you were being followed.
That is an interesting theory about the Queen having infected Crespi with some material that would serve Church's studies. After suffering a nasty dog bite in high school, my roommate recovered and had a dime-size pimple like growth form on the scar about ten years later. It turns out that a fragment of a dog tooth was embedded just below his skin above the muscle tissue. While not life threatening, his body slowly and gradually fought to remove the foreign body on its own.
Now Crespi likely suffered much deeper and more grievous wounds from the Queen. It's not unreasonable to assume some foreign xenomorph material lingered inside his body from those wounds.
As for McGuiness, while she is quite exceptional to have faced down a xenomorph drone, I believe such events would be few and far between across the entire human species. At the moment of the attack, McGuinness was the culmination of all her experiences, manifesting in the woman she was, then and there. If you were to have taken McGuiness at the first mention of her in the video, and had her encounter a xenomorph at that very moment, without the character development and revelations of Dr. Church's work, she would likely have been just another victim.
I argue that it would even be rare, if not impossible, in the event of a protracted xenomorph encounter with a large number of humans. Even if armed with weapons (like colonial marines) the fear and psychological stresses of combat would eventually wear down the few survivors to the point that paranoia and mental instabilities would make it impossible for them to display the mental fortitude to dominate a xenomorph.
