The more I watch these videos, I realize how terrifying the Xenomorphs are. Like...There aren't a lot of things that scare me but those things are definitely one of them. The Aliens universe is a fucking horrifying place.
And it exists.. somewhere out there...

@@brainbean3104 Not likely. The alien franchise may be well executed to be scary, but its also dumb as hell, you just have to think about it.
Like, how can they just let an Alien queen escape? How can the Xenomorphs adapt more quickly to their opponents than the humans? How can the Xenomorphs win against humanity when they reproduce so inefficently? How can humans keep repeating the same mistakes and not learn from them?
A civilisation that is highly advanced shouldn't be able to get wiped out by some unintelligent instinct creature. Maybe some kind of disease, but then again, with science you can find a cure to that too. It was stated in these comics that the Alien Queens are as intelligent as the most brilliant humans that ever lived, however, that means nothing by itself, they also need knowledge about the world, which they don't possess on the same level as humans do.
Someone could say that the xenos will just adapt to any tactic, but that is not how evolution works. The way these aliens adapt is exactly like in a strategy based videogame, but that is not possible, the queen can't just genetically engineer anything as she wishes. This universe is only believable as long as you don't get thinking about it too much

But you are thinking of the story as a power fantasy or a Comic fantasy way..
there are No heroes in Alien .. there IS a protagonist, a person, Ripley and her struggles to survive , her traumas and existential crisis ( basically alien, aliens and alien 3)
my point is thinking of her as a heroin.. it like thinking of her as a superhero ..
which is the one problem with the original Aliens vs predator comic. machiko does not fit the tone of the alien or the predator series ... she is something that clearly came out the mind of a comic book writer .. a Silly (but sexy) power fantasy.

Great job with this project! I recently reread the novelizations, originally read them back in high school in the '90's. Makes me nostalgic for my old geek posse from back then. The '90's were a great time to grow up as a sci-fi fan with explosion of expanded universes and new franchises. I devoured Star Wars, Aliens and Harry Turtledove novels plus enjoyed the various TV series that were everywhere back then.

Leliofirefly I agree. The job he did with my review of Alien Descent a few weeks ago got a thumbs up from my entire family, including my 84 yr old mom who got the spit scared out of her with "Aliens." Derek even used my crappy phone pic from the attraction at the beginning of the review. What makes his videos great are not just the voice reading, which is first rate (and I worked 15 years for the mouse, so I know voices), but what also makes the videos special are the art/film clips, the eerie music, and the amount of acting Derek puts into his voice for the different lines. I wrote my review with the touch of a colonial marine's ideas, and he perfectly captured it. Someone actually asked if he would read Alien stories for pay, he was that good. These comic videos are extremely well done. Beautifully done.

whoa, these are new!! thanks for the reads.. i love the way earth is wiped out.. the fever dream pitch of it all for those that clung to life. That mind numbing rush of panic, when your high functions seem to stop tranquilizing the fact that you are mortal.. and will die... are their more earth invasion stories that im missing? This would make an awesome animated series..almost like animatrix

Aside from the thumbnail choice that I see everyone talk about here, I think this makes a great plot element and makes me only wish even more that Newt should be alive and be like the next generation of the franchise and if they ever make a sequel just make it simple, either have Ripley die, give a strong ending or just make her say Im too old for this and let the torch be passed to Newt, simple as it is.

Alien Theory is without doubt one of the best channels on RUclips.
Please would you consider doing audio book style readings of the novels, in chronological order. I'm sure with the huge following of the channel, you would have no trouble finding additional voice talent.

AT, It feels like the dark Horse Alien comics are a detailed account of our embarrassing attempts at colonizing space, and the Xenos are one of the more exotic mishaps we have come across, in a long line of spectacular failures.

I love how you include sound bites, and the slow zooms and panning on the comic panels. Although it would be nice if you didn't paraphrase 'all' of the dialogue. It's difficult to read most of it because it's not always all in frame or it changes too quick.
That's only a minor complaint though. This whole thing is so well done and you really bring it alive with your descriptive narrations. You wouldn't even need to see the pictures to imagine exactly what's going on with your descriptions.
